What a delightful comedy! It seems that Italian movie-making has recovered very fast from whatever downs some people blame it for. This small film --are there small films?-- was played to the tilts by exceptional actors.
Very free, flowing performances, with complete oblivion of the camera and all those technicians behind it, not to mention the excellency of the director --a woman in this case-- that was able to keep the fast tempo throughout the whole movie.
There's not a single scene that we could consider without interest. The main character is such a womanizer that will get involved with several women at the same time, creating all sorts of funny situations --for us, as spectators, but most of them quite traumatizing for the women, and eventually for him too.
Dialogs of a very smart sort --especially when spoken among the female characters-- are thrown at full speed like ping-pong balls, and although the concept of the script is quite light, at the end some sadness sets in because you realize that no matter the state of one's personal sentimental life condition --married, single, playboy, chaste, promiscuous, whatever in between-- one will always be alone with oneself.
Mankind seems to have a heavy tendency towards self mortification (religious influence, perhaps?), when in reality, if we could get rid of ridiculous moral restrains, sexual life could actually be something really nice and pleasant to enjoy without feelings of culpability.
Italy, as usual, gorgeous with its eternal blue skies, strikingly sunny days and pastel colored houses.
