Shuang xi ling men

DOUBLE BLISS is another lighthearted romantic comedy from the Shaw Brothers studio, starring flavour of the month Li Ching. Here, she plays a woman in love with a suitor who arrives back in Hong Kong after spending time abroad. Unfortunately, their path to true love certainly doesn't run smoothly when it becomes apparent that both sets of parents are dead against the relationship. The film shines a light on class and social issues but mainly is just the usual lighthearted romp with exaggerated caricatures in place of real characters and a somewhat underwhelming plot which feels more than a little repetitive at times.
