Cavan had a passion for photography which flourished alongside his
acting career. His black-and-white images are dramatic and moving,
always proposing an underlying story, perhaps a natural crossing from
film to still. Cavan's collection of colour landscapes based on
the abstract nature of the land are stunning and myriad, through
different regions of the world, including his native
Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Norfolk. The painted faces of New
Guinea bushmen, a lone horseman in Tibet, lush landscapes and paddy
fields of East Asia and his fine collection of images of Kew Gardens
illustrate the breadth of interest and mastery of mood and texture
within Cavan Kendall's photographic portfolio. Cavan's America
Collection is both documentary and illusory, rarely without irony.
