it was ok

the only thing worse than working at terrible jobs is reading about them.

im sad to say that i didn’t like this book more than i did. it’s been on my tbr forever & with its constant comparison to MYORAR & convenience store woman, i thought this was going to be an instant hit.

i didn’t see the comparison to either of those novels at all. besides having an unnamed narrator or.. idk.. working(?) the similarities are few and far between.

unlike murata or moshfegh’s novels, there’s nothing overly interesting about the narration…most of it felt more directional than emotional. in order for an ennui novel work, i feel like it would need either an interesting narrator (MYOROR, the new me) or some important message about the state of corporate careers (severance, convince store woman), but this seems to lack both.
