Voyeur #1

Voyeur

Rate this book
I didn’t know she was my student the first time I paid to watch her at Voyeur.

Once she walked into my classroom, another smiling college freshman, I knew I should stop going. Stop watching.

But I couldn’t do it. Everything about her makes me want more, and once I realize she wants me too, the temptation becomes irresistible.

The worst part is that she has no idea her professor is the one watching behind the glass.

I just have to hope that once she finds out the truth, she wants the same thing I do. Because now that I've seen all of her, I can't look away.

Stand-alone.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! Voyeur (stand-alone). Professor-student romance with secrets, painful pasts & a whole lot of voyeurism!

“Dr. Pierce.”
“Call me Callum or Cal while I’m inside you.”

Voyeur (stand-alone) centers around Professor Callum Pierce, Cal and his big secret: At night he is a voyeur.

Upon returning from holiday break Piece suddenly has two big secrets: He’s a Voyeur and his new obsession turns out to be his physics student Oaklyn Derringer, Oak grave-yarding at his exclusive club.

Then when Oaklyn becomes his student aide, Professor Pierce soon has three secrets: He’s a voyeur, his obsession is his student and there is a budding flirtation.

Secrets upon secrets, compiled by more secrets from his painful past, until everything unravels….

Seven words to describe Professor Callum Pierce, Cal: Smart, charming, noble, private, broken, elusive and oh so sweet.

Seven words to describe Oaklyn Derringer, Oak: Determined, forgiving, desperate, smart, reflective, naïve and patient.

Voyeur, told from dual POVs, is a forbidden teacher-student romance between two lonely souls, with the added bonus of voyeurism. A story about confronting painful pasts and the healing power of forgiveness, patience and love.

“I imagine your perfect ass covered in my cum. I imagine rubbing it in, so it becomes a part of you. Maybe then you would know what it feels like to have you feel like a part of me.”

Overall Opinion: 🤦🏻‍♀️ I'm super bummed, because that blurb had me all kinds of excited for this potentially hot and taboo subject. So, I'll apologize now if this gets a little ranty...

I struggled with both characters (especially towards the end), and by the end of the book I really didn't care all that much about what was going to happen with them. I felt like both of them acted way too immaturely and needed to freaking communicate!

I skimmed. A lot.

Their separation was stupid IMO. I don't understand why it went on so long, or why the h didn't reach out when halfway through it she saw the error in her ways!

The bothered me. I felt like it was a big issue that was kind of made into not a big issue (if that makes sense), and that was irritating.

I can go on, but those are my main points for why this didn't work for me.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Oaklyn and Callum's story. Oaklyn's parents spent her financial aid check for the semester, and she finds herself in a bind in order to pay for her tuition and living expenses. She ends up working at a club named Voyeur that caters to just that - voyeurs. Callum has a past that requires him to not go farther than watching, and he sees one of Oaklyn's scenes and becomes obsessed with her. He is shocked to find that she is one of his new students and a work study helper when the new semester begins, but he keeps it secret that he knows of her other job. The more time they spend together they become friends with a strong underlying attraction. Lines are crossed, big secrets are revealed, some sexy times happen...and they get a HFN ending.

POV: This alternated between Oaklyn and Callum's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: I had big issues with it tbh. I had trouble keeping my attention on the story, and I also skimmed a lot once the characters were doing (what I considered) stupid things in the last 20ish% of the book. I don't think I really lost anything important either with my skimming, so I think that says enough about that 🤷🏻‍♀️

Instalove: No. Instalust? Yes.

H rating: 2.5 stars. Callum. He was a mess. My heart broke for what he went through, (and I know this might sound really bad) but I didn't like his weaknesses. I wanted him to toughen up a little and fight for himself and his own happiness!

h rating: 2 stars. Oaklyn. I had big issues with her. My initial assessment is that she was too proud, but I don't think that is the right word. She was stubborn and hard-headed to where she wouldn't be open to other perspectives or options. That bugs me.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Good. They have some good tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story. This wasn't as hot as I'd thought it'd be, but that could just be me not feeling it.

Descriptive sex: Yes

OW/OM drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: Yes

Cheating: Yes

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This didn't have nearly enough time with them as a healthy, happy, outed couple. I would call this HFN ending. .

Safety: This one is probably Not Safe for most safety gang readers depending on personal preferences.

4 stars!!

“I dreamed of making love to her under the stars.”

Voyeur was my first book by Fiona Cole, and after that, I'll definitely be reading more!

Oaklyn is a nineteen year old college freshman who's desperate. Going to school and getting her degree is her top priority, but after her parents cashed her loan check, she doesn't know how she'll pay for it. When a friend recommends she get a job at Voyeur, a club where people... watch, Oaklyn isn't sure if it's for her. But really, what choice does she have?

Little does Oaklyn know, one of the frequent costumers at Voyeur is her insanely attractive astronomy professor. Cal and Oaklyn have the student teacher dynamic, but they are also friends. But Oaklyn still doesn't know that Cal comes to Voyeur. That he watches. Cal does this for a reason, but the secrecy is not something Oaklyn will be okay with... when the secrets come out, things turn conflicted pretty fast.

I listened to the audio version of this book and it was addicting. I didn't want to press pause. Yvonne Syd did a fabulous job voicing Oaklyn. Edward Thomas did a great job with Cal, but when he was voicing some of the other characters his voice felt a little off. Maybe it was just me, though. Still, overall it was a great listen.

This book was sexy, taboo, and emotional. It captivated me from the start and I can't wait to jump into Jackson's book. I loved him and just reading the synopsis- I'm ready!

I was lucky enough to beta read this story and what a freaking story it is!!!

Fiona Cole never writes the easy love story. She doesn't follow the trusted romance path and I love her for it. Her books are always ones that make me think, make me feel, LOTS, and usually make me seriously hot.

Callum is not your average alpha BBF and thank god for that. He's got demons to overcome and I loved that we got to see a man being equal parts vulnerable and brave. Gah!! He's a complex man and his growth in the story is amazing.

Oaklyn is such a smart, empowered and empathetic character. I loved her strength and the patience and maturity she showed. So refreshing to see the woman be the saviour for a change.

Then we get the smoking hot chemistry, taste of voyeurism and explorations of people's sexual boundaries. It's a delicious blend of emotions and sexual discovery and I devoured every single word. Cannot recommend it enough if you're looking for smart with your heat.

MY REVIEW can also be found on my blog:
KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS

VOYEUR: is a full length stand-alone, romance novel by new to me author Fiona Cole. Spoken in ‘Dual Perspectives’ In this we meet Oaklyn and Professor Callum Pierce aka Cal.

Voyeur: A person who gets sexual satisfaction by watching sexual acts.

Nineteen year old freshman student Oaklyn Deringer is majoring in biology with the intention of going into physical therapy. Struggling to make ends meet she takes a job at Voyeur to help fund her tuition fees.

Most people came to Voyeur because they knew what they wanted, and they wanted to satisfy that craving for a kink most people didn’t understand.

Twenty nine year old Callum has some deep dark demons in his closet which rears it’s ugly head every so often when females expect too much from him, he needs Voyeur to help cater to his needs, to still the demons within.

The very first time Callum locked eyes on Oaklyn at Voyeur he was entranced by her beauty, the second time he saw her he couldn’t believe that she was the same woman that he’d watched at Voyeur was now sitting in his classroom as one of his students.

Even though he knows how wrong it is now that he knows it’s her he can’t stop going to Voyeur, he can’t stop watching her, craving her, needing her, something about her calls to him, something bigger than he realises.

I was hoping more of the teacher/student forbidden romance would come through more than it did, that fear of getting caught didn’t come through in this but other than that it was still an enjoyable hot kinky read. The chemistry and sexual tension between these two characters was off the charts.

WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW!

That single, and not at all sufficient, word was on repeat in my mind as I read this book. Truthfully, erotica isn't typically my thing. But this book is most definitely MY THING!! I LOVED it 😍😍 I was supposed to be writing (don't judge 🙈), and instead I spent an entire day devouring Callum and Oaklyn's beautiful story 💛 I was even reading it at work, and yes, that's as awkward as it sounds...

description

But I just couldn't put it down. I loved everything about it. I rarely describe books as unique anymore. Obviously each story has its own spin, but not a lot of books make me sit up and go, I need that. This book did and I'm SO freaking glad I took a chance on a genre I don't gravitate toward. This will definitely be one of my 2018 favorites.

Oaklyn and Callum were amazing! I loved their individual characters and I loved them together ❤️❤️❤️ Oaklyn was the perfect amount of strong and soft. And don't even freaking get me started with Callum... gahhh I love beta heroes so much 😍😍😍😍😍 He fought for her but HE DIDN'T BULLY HER!! This is a big problem I have with alphas sometimes. I like a hero who wants the heroine and isn't afraid to show it, but he doesn't have to throw her over his shoulder and boss her around to prove it. Exhibit A:
"Please," she whispered. So I did as she asked. I left. I didn't want to, and I didn't think it was the end of it all, but I left because in that moment, I knew she needed time to process. But I wasn't letting go. I wasn't done trying with her yet. Not by a long shot.
It was also refreshing to see a male character who wanted a wife and family, not just a hook up...
I wanted a wife. A family. A woman to carry my child. My chest ached with a strong desire for those things; my limbs were heavy from wanting to reach out and take them for my own. I just didn't know how to get to them, waiting on the other side of the dark cloud holding me back. But I wanted them.
Anddddd I'm dead... he was perfect 🔥

description

My inner quote whore is begging to be let out, so here we go. Look at these beauties...
"This isn't your job and you know it. This was me and you."
With Oaklyn though, it wasn't about being alone. I wasn't ready to let go of her or the picture of a normal future she conjured so easily in my head.
I was so damn focused on just spending time with her that I didn't even consider our positions. I forgot she was my student. I just saw her as the woman I needed to be around.
For her, I'd try anything.
She was my Halley's Comet. Only coming once in a lifetime.
That last one is MY FOREVER FAVORITE 😍😍

Like I said, I don't read erotica, but I am beyond happy I decided to go outside my comfort zone and read Voyeur. If you're on the fence... BUY IT!! This book has so much depth, and there is a good chance you'll fall in love with this phenomenal book just like I did 💛

WARNING: it could get ranty off in here.

I ended up here... for obvious reasons.

I mean, come on! A club where you get to watch people shilly shally?

I assumed boy meets girl at said club and that's probably a no-no.
I assumed again that boy probably turns out to be girl's teacher and that's also a no-no.

So... taboo on top of taboo on top of taboo a.k.a. the most delectable naughty trifle ever!

To which Cupcake said:

Things are going well. They're hot for each other and that came through on page but dude has some baggage.

I'm ok with baggage and I was pretty sure what it was. The brain is a strange, wonderful and sometimes terrible place so I was willing to go along with how said baggage manifested itself in Callum.

Where things derailed for me was the hypocrisy. Excuse me, the blatant hypocrisy.

Protective and possessive are in my wheelhouse but he manipulated her then shamed her for being a sex worker. At a sex club, I might add, that he has held a membership to for around 5 years.

So...

He then proceeded to emotionally abuse her by making it her fault that he couldn't handle her being a sex worker at a club he has a membership to and has paid to watch her multiple times.

Then he gets butthurt because she doesn't want him to swoop in and pay for her tuition which is why she's working at said sex club. And her best friend agrees with him!

I actually kept reading thinking it was going to be one of those lesson learned/bittersweet kind of tales where they love each other but realize they're not good for each other and that would've worked for me basically because I couldn't shake the feeling that this is glorifying a dysfunctional relationship that has the potential to turn Burning Bed with a quickness.

However, that's not what happened. In the book's defense he does get help for his baggage and his destructive coping skills to deal with said baggage and that's not nothing but the core issue was never addressed.

Which is scary AF.

Now, the real pickle is secondary character Jackson is bi and has been mooning over his former best friend who is apparently "straight" and ghosted him after a Truth or Dare kiss years ago has a book so...

Wish me luck.

I was so close to giving this 1 star

Why did I give it 2 stars and not 1?
Solely based on the premise behind the book. There’s a sex club called Voyeur where clients with memberships can request the employees to perform certain fantasies they want to watch. These workers don’t have sex or have contact with the clients, they only have contact with other employees usually a partner. With their partner, they’ll preform scenes in front of a person/people or solo performances for extra cash.

Also b/c of the tropes:
•Friends to lovers
•Professor/student
•Age gap (19h/29H)
•Forbidden romance

Now let’s talk about why it’s such a low ass rating

There’s a LOT of sex/sex talk. Which might be someone else’s thing and really might have been my thing till about last year, but I’m looking for a relationship between MCs that has some substance. So really I didn't care about the MCs relationship.

Callum (H) is a dick. At first I really liked him, I thought he was super cute and nerdy, but he started acting shitty as he started having more feelings for Oaklyn (h). So Callum and Oaklyn first see each other at Voyeur. Unbeknownst to Callum until he arrives to his first day of class, Oaklyn is a student in his astronomy class. Oaklyn isn’t aware who he is, but he is and he continues to go to Voyeur and watch her perform scenes.

Which is sorta creepy since he’s not supposed to know who she is. Now why is he a dick? He basically calls Oaklyn a whore and a prostitute because she wouldn’t quit her job at Voyeur.

“This isn’t some chosen career I’m dying to do. I need the money, and this is my best option.”
“Most college students tend to work at coffee shops for money,” he muttered.

Like wtf is wrong with you…her parents stole her tuition money and she needed the money right away. Now I understand his situation a little. If I was him I wouldn’t want my “gf” (they weren’t even really together tbh) to work at a sex club and perform acts for people or with another guy. BUT at NO POINT does Callum offer to cancel his membership at Voyeur while acting this way. He can't expect her to quit her job because he’s jealous, but still have a membership at the same sex club 🤡

Callum offers to pay for Oaklyn’s tuition, but she’s really against receiving money from family or friends because she’s seen it destroy relationships (which is really true). Now, when she refuses…

“But you’ll let some stranger pay for your schooling by watching you have sex, but not me?”

LIKE WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?! Then RIGHT AFTER, he’s like “oohhhhh I’m soooo sorry. I shouldn’t have said that and I didn’t mean it” like yeah, you shouldn’t have, but you need to think before you fucking speak so you don’t say crap like this. I’m a firm believer that people always say what they mean even if they claim that they didn't...

Now I must say, Oaklyn stopped doing scenes with her partner when she developed the relationship with Callum and she rarely did solo work. She just didn’t quit her job. On top of that, her and her partner NEVER had sex, only fake sex.

Another thing Callum did was try to make an example out of Oaklyn by flirting with a woman that he went out with a couple times. This was after him and Oaklyn broke up because she wouldn’t quit

“It hurts, doesn’t it?” His voice was soft, deep, quiet, but it rattled through my body like a scream. “To watch someone that means so much to you be with someone else.”

I just don’t fucking understand why he would do this because it’s in no way similar to her job. She doesn’t know or see the people watching her and she’s not trying to play with his emotions like he is.

Will I read the rest of the series? Not sure right now. I might skip to the later books b/c they're supposed to be better.

I have read this book twice and this is one of the few scenarios where my opinion has changed with a second read.

I think this book is suuuuuuuuuper sexy and I love Fiona's writing. I really do, and I usually recommend this as one of the top teacher-student romances out there. It's full of fun kinks, the characters are awesome, there is a delicious slow-burn and she approaches sex-workers in this book in a very delicate way, which I appreciate.

However, near the end, she loses me.

I'd go as far as saying: read the first 50% of this book for some spicy fun and then drop the book right there and don't you dare finish it, or you will get irrationally angry. This is one of the many scenarios where you can clearly see these characters needed a developmental edit.

My explanation for my 3 stars will be spoilery-ish, so only keep reading if you don't care about finding out the main conflict in this book.

The male teacher in this narrative goes to a "sex club" on the weekly where you get to choose people from a menu, request things for them to do with themselves or with a partner, and you can sit there and watch behind a wall. He meets this girl who works there, falls in love, pays to watch her doing things to herself and to other guys and the day after, she shows up in his classroom. She is actually his student and she is working at the club Voyeur because she needs help paying for school. Fair, right?

After a lot of tension and the old-school teacher/student back and forth, they finally start seeing each other on the down-low. However, he becomes this jealous, insecure, whiny monster who can't stand the fact that she works there. He was ok with paying to watch, but now that he has her, he slut-shames her constantly and turns into this CONTROL freak of a man, who freaks out and explodes in jealousy to the point where you think he is going to hit her. (he never does, but he yells at her twice and makes her feel like shit about herself)

This choice of conflict from the authors part completely RUINED his character for me and the entire story-line stopped making sense. You can't make a couple fall in love in the bowels of a Vouyerism club and then change these characters personalities and ruin the character’s arcs because that was the only conflict you could think of. IT MAKES NO SENSE.

I mean, you can always do that, but I will NOT like it. lol

So yeah, if you want to read this for the spice? Do it, it's totally worth it. However, don't expect to love these characters and this couple, they are completely ruined by the end of the book.

Voyeur: A person who gets sexual satisfaction by watching sexual acts.

I stared as her features pulled me in, entranced me as I mapped every inch. Something about her ensnared all of my senses and wouldn’t let me go. I couldn’t put my finger on what it was. Maybe physical attraction? It felt bigger than that, like a planet that was pulling me into its orbit.

Too soon she slipped behind the wall I knew led to the employee’s lounge. I took one last quick pull of my drink and abandoned it, half full, at the bar before heading to the iPads I could make my selection at. Flipping through who was working for the night, I searched for her face. An urgency I couldn’t explain hit me. An excitement I hadn’t felt before lit fire through me and I needed to watch her tonight. Watch her do anything as I wrapped my fist around my cock, imagining it was her, until I came.

So, I tried to read this a while back and something about Callum had rubbed me the wrong way.

Fortunately Edward Thomas is a phenomenal narrator and I was able to get past whatever bothered me. And I’m exceptionally glad because this book has a lot to offer. I also need to say that Yvonne Syn is an equally great narrator, perhaps in my top five females.

The story begins with desperation from both characters. Oakland’s parents have used her college grant money to fix their car and she needs a job like yesterday. She finds an unconventional one at a club called Voyeur. She’s sort of a porn star but in person.

She definitely has to go far outside her comfort zone with this profession but she finds she kinda likes it, that it’s titillating and in the end enjoyable. (No doubt due to numerous happy endings.)

Callum has needs but one big issue keeps him from feeding those needs. He can touch, please women in any way but as soon as they touch him he panics. There’s obviously a reason behind this and therein lies our mystery.

He soon comes to realize that Oakland is his dream girl, maybe the girl to make him get past his issues. Only problem is Callum’s a physics professor and Oakland isn’t only his student, she’s his aide.

So that sucks.

She has no idea he’s watched her, that he can’t stop himself from continuing to watch her. The man’s obsessed and the more time they spend together outside Voyeur the more he likes her both sexually and as a person.

Obviously we know this one is hot as sin. But it’s also dramatic, never boring. FC gives us one thing after another. It’s also emotional, it’s easy to love these characters, especially Callum. (I still can’t tell you why I originally didn’t like him.)

And the mystery behind why he is the way he is? That kept me on the edge of my seat until he finally admits, finally lays himself bare for Oakland. And it’s rough, it’s horrifying and broke my heart into a million pieces.

Poor Callum and he’s hung onto this for over half of his life. He hasn’t been able to be with a woman ever.

The big question, the hope … Can Oakland help him get past this? Can he finally free himself and get his much deserved HEA?

TW for sexual assault

All I heard about this book is that it's about a professor who falls for a student who works at a voyeur club he's a member of. But this book is SO MUCH MORE than that. Callum was traumatized in his past, so he does not allow anyone to touch him and he finds intimacy hard. That's why he finds Voyeur perfect to fulfill his needs. Until he sees Oaklyn for the first time. He can't get her out of his head, especially when it comes to the first day of school and he sees she's his student and working as an assistant in his department. I will say, I really loved how Oaklyn and Callum spent time together and actually became friends while she was his assistant. I truly believed they felt something beyond just physical for each other, which is hard to find in age gap romances like this. I really enjoyed Callum's character and how much he grew throughout this book, but how he acted at the end of the book ruined him for me.. His behavior caused the third act break up and I thought its as so hypocritical and so frustrating. I get he now feels possessive and protective, but that was so annoying and drove the entire plot at the end. I found that incredibly annoying and really stopped enjoying Callum and the romance at that point. So I'm giving this one a 4 out of 5 stars! Really loved the book until we got to the end.

This is so much more than a hot story! Don’t get me wrong, it’s 🔥🔥but there’s a lot more to it than that. It’s an fantastic story of love and compassion. A story of hope and healing. Fiona Cole has penned a fantastically beautiful story that I’m sure to remember for a long time to come.

“I dove in and began devouring her lips, eating her promise straight from them. I wanted to take her everywhere with me.”

Callum and Oaklyn’s connection is beautiful. The love and understanding she exhibits when confronted with the demons haunting Callum is nothing short of amazing. I felt so emotionally connected to these characters because they’re so emotionally invested in one another. They put everything on the line and risk so much to be together. It’s sheer brilliance.

Callum is fantastically flawed. He’s so broken and wounded. Living with the ghosts of his past has really taken a toll on his psyche. Oaklyn’s presence soothes him in a way that so fun to witness. Regardless of her age or inexperience, she knows what he needs and relishes giving it to him. He is truly healed by love.

Overall, this was a fantastic read from a new to me author. I’m looking forward to seeing what else Fiona Cole has in store for her readers.

This book is hot! :D
The only thing that could have made the story better for me would have been more character development for the hero. Likeeeeee... flashbacks to his childhood would have totally helped.. but I am a sucker for those lol A girl can dream!

description

such promise, such disappointment

went into this not knowing much, but was quickly excited to learn that it was about a voyeuristic sex club. patrons pay a monthly fee and request to watch certain "scenes" by different workers. how fcking cool! I've genuinely never heard of anything like this so I was very interested to learn about it.

oaklyn is a super poor college student with abhorrently shitty parents who spent her entire semester's loan on fixing their car/whatever the fuck else. she has to find a way to pay for school so she goes to work at her friend's uncle's club: Voyeur.

here she catches a mere glimpse of a hot patron... couple days later she sees him in class. surprise, surprise it's her teacher. he's super attracted to her, but he has qualms about starting a relationship with her... and it's not because he's her teacher.

yes, I unwittingly read 2 books about sexual assault back to back. I guess I won't go into too much detail, but I think it's pretty clear in the first 50 pages of reading this that the teacher (Callum) was sexually assaulted years prior and that is his reason for going to Voyeur.

all of that to explain what I did and didn't like about this book lol.

liked
how oaklyn was able to handle callum's past trauma. she didn't once make him feel guilty about it, she only tried to help him. her understanding went a long way in making their relationship believable to me. I also really liked that she was unwilling to ask anyone for money. had I been in her situation and 2 people close to me offered to help me I probably would have said yes... her pride made her believable and flawed to me. liked it a lot.

didn't fucking like
unfortunately, a lot. and most of the issues came up pretty late in the book, around the 60% mark.

first, a LOT of the conflict in this book is about misunderstandings and secrets. i understand that revealing your past trauma is not an easy thing, but when you attempt to be intimate with someone more than once and your trauma keeps you from having a fulfilling experience AND THE OTHER PERSON NOTICES it might be nice to clue them in. I was getting really fcking mad at oak and cal. cal would like go down on her and then get all weird and distant. oak would think it was because he wasn't committed to their elicit relationship. if your problems are stopping your relationship from working either step the fuck away or reveal your fucking issues, dude.

second, this book was pretty much entirely sex. we get references to how cal is an astronomy teacher every 5 seconds probably as a means to make him a more interesting character and to be a shared interest between cal and oak. but besides them looking thru a telescope one time there wasn't anything there. in general, there really wasn't any relationship there. beyond oak being sweet and understanding and cal liking that... I didn't really see anything other that pure lust keeping them together.

and I like sex in books. really. but it doesn't make up for flat ass characters and annoying "I'm sick of your shit I'm leaving" every- 5 seconds- drama.

in general, a pretty disappointing read. should be a 2 star but I'll bump it because I think this was a fairly realistic depiction of sexual assault trauma.

Meh. It was ok. While it dealt with some very deep issues, I just couldn't connect with the characters.
The story dragged a bit and I found myself skimming much of the story. It was enough to hook me on the series, but not a book I'd be coming back to.

✨ENGLISH AND SPANISH REVIEW✨

⭐ 3.5 stars

"If it meant I got to spend every night with him under the stars"

Well, I finally finished this book and it's sad that I didn't enjoy it as much as I though I would. Don't know what it was, but the connection between the two main characters were a little bit flat for me, and to be honest, I would have liked more depth into their relationship.
I felt like the story was repetitive at certain points, so maybe that made me lose the interest after all☹️

But anyways, I'm willing to read the second book, hoping it would be better! 😊❤️🤞🏻

"If it meant I got to spend every night with him under the stars"

Oh, this book is so right up my alley. Why can’t there be a Voyeur Bar near me? One can only dream. I was looking for a fantastic Professor/ Student book, which is exactly what was delivered to me.

This book is hot

Full of:

Steam

Voyeurism Kink

Smart, handsome, and tortured hero,

Beautiful, intelligent, with some issues, heroine

Fantastic plot

Like an addict, I craved more. I wanted more from her.

Voyeur is like no other professor/student novel and in a class all it’s own. Reading the back story of Callum is heartbreaking and how the author wrote how Oakland responded to that was amazing. I think my heart grew three times the size it was after that. I am a little late reading this series. I guess, better late than never.

'Pro: Go into Voyeur and feel better, imagining yourself in the place of some man who fucks Oaklyn.
Con: Make a rash decision and go inside to have your nineteen-year-old student make you feel better as you imagine fucking her.'

Voyeur gives me satifying conflicted story between a professor and his student. I think this is a bit different from other student-teacher romances because this story focuses mainly on their relationship: sharing their secrets and helping each other out. Their relationship remains in secret until they are ready to show it to the world.
I enjoyed the story mostly. It was a great read and definitely needs to be picked up if you're craving a taboo read.

Fiona Cole is a master at merging sex and romance together so the end result is an emotional and engaging story with flawed and strong characters. Voyeur is just that. This story is so much more than the title. This isn’t just about a man who gets his rocks off by watching other people indulge in sexual activities. No, there’s so much more to Callum and the young woman Oaklyn who works at Voyeur in her spare time and is his student at college.

Their story is intense, sweet and heartbreaking. I really liked Oaklyn because of her spirit and her determination despite her young age. She’s a fighter who once she sets a goal will do what’s possible for her to achieve it.
Callum is a loving man who carries a secret that has affected him since he was in his teens. He struggles with being intimate with women because of that trauma from his past. How Callum struggles with his demons is flawlessly written. I truly felt his pain and frustration with not being able to let go and to control himself.

The highlight of Voyeur is the evolution of Callum thanks to Oaklyn. Her patience and understanding of him is honest and beautiful. Their friendship is fun and easy. They revel in each other’s company and their progression from friends to lovers is wonderfully written.
There’s so much heat and chemistry between them that I had to fan myself. At times it got really hot I felt I needed a shower. This story was fabulous thanks to two well developed characters and strong writing. Fiona Cole keeps surprising me.

This book has done something that hasn't been done in a long time. It held me captive being a contemporary romance when I had grown burned out from the genre for a few months now.
I knew as soon as I saw the blurb that I would enjoy this book, it was intriguing and forbidden enough to make me excited.
So when the author was offering ARCs to authors, I volunteered as tribute.
Voyeur was a sexy as hell story that wrapped itself around my heart and squeezed when I wasn't paying attention.
The author did a fantastic job conveying their pain and love even before they knew it they were. I knew it though! I really liked this read, I enjoyed it enough to stay up past my bed time!

I had never read this author before but when a book calls to me, I don't hesitate. This was definitely a win!

Voyeur is one of those reads that brings a little bit of everything. I love a forbidden romance and there’s none more so than student and professor.

description Dr. Pierce.”
“Cal. Call me Callum or Cal while I’m inside you.”

Some books are impossible to put down despite not quite hitting the heights you hope for and this fell into that category. I loved Oaklyn and Callum together and how they were portrayed—he an intelligent, complex man and she a strong, smart young woman with a head on her shoulders beyond her nineteen years—and they bring everything from passion with a splash of kink to more touching romantic moments, and my heart went out to them on more than one occasion.

description For her, I’d try anything.”

With the angst and necessary conflict pitched nicely, I literally read this in one sitting, however I can’t deny I felt the story was let down by the forbidden aspect which felt underplayed and lacked the urgency and heart-stopping moments that the trope can create. Nevertheless, a good introduction to Fiona Cole’s writing and definitely worth checking out.

This book puts me on a dilemma.

What I like:
1. The steamy is steamy and playful. Especially the voyeur part.
2. The writing style is good. Enough to make the plot/ story moving

What I do not like:
1. The chemistry is off. I can not feel the chemistry between Oakland and Callum.
2. The author putting too much into the story. There is forbidden romance, age gap, kinky, sexual abuse etc. Too much and losing focus.

So I end up with middle conclusion.

I was surprised to see that I freaking loved the story so much even though it's about another teacher-student relationship. There's something thrilling when you are living in a dangerous, forbidden zone. From the very first page, I fell in love with the voice of the novel. There were times when this book was difficult to read. Callum. Oh, Callum. This man is a poor, sad broken soul. You'd think these things would make him less attractive, right? Wrong. Callum is as hot as they come. The author was able to really engage her readers in the story in such a way where she has you hanging onto her every word. I loved this story. Edgy, gritty, sexy, and heart-wrenching but always beautiful.
