What can I say about Four Letter Word? It was clever (love the concept of the title) a bit emotional and alotta steamy! It’s certainly J. Daniel’s HOTTEST book to date. Holy smokes. She really brought the heat with this book.

Sydney is starting a new chapter in her life. That chapter includes moving in with her best friend, Tori. New town, new job, new start. Both Syd and Tori have been burned by a men. Sydney does something out of character for her and makes a rash phone call. It’s completely mortifying for her, but also a fantastic start to her story.

I absolutely loved the premise of this book. I loved how it started with that one phone call. A phone call with a stranger that happened to be a wrong number turned into every day texts and eventually, chats. Brian Savage is the man on the other end of the line. Brian has had a rough turn in his life. Sydney is about the only good thing in it right now. He’s dealing with something that’s hard on him. It’s also something he’s hiding from most everyone in his life. Brian is full of secrets.
She couldn’t know too much. She could never know. Never. I gave her enough so I could still have her, but I took everything.

I waited on pins and needles for these two to truly connect. Their connection was so strong before they met, I knew once they did it would be explosive. I thought both of these characters were great. Brian was an alpha man for sure, and reminded me of a KA hero with is attitude and the way he spoke. Sydney was a fun and strong heroine. I loved her and her bestie Tori. I loved the way she and Brian healed each other. There was so much to love about this book.

“I’m going to give you Wild for the reset of your life and so much of it you won’t have room to feel anything else.”

Honestly, there wasn’t anything I didn’t love about the story, but the ending missed the mark for me a bit. I wanted MORE. More of an ending for these two after everything went down. It felt a little rushed to me. I’m assuming since this is a series and the next book is about their friends, we will get more of Brian and Syd there, but I’m greedy. I wanted it now. I’m excited to get the next book. I think Jamie and Tori’s book will be interesting to say the least!

This is definitely Daniel’s best writing to date and I thoroughly enjoyed the story between Sydney and Brian. If you’re looking for a fun and sexy read with just the right amount of emotion and humor, pick this one up! It was a total win for me. 4.5 stars!
It was everything. From the start, from the first mistaken phone call, it was everything.

::: FULL REVIEW NOW POSTED :::

"That's ours, Wild. What we have, how we build on it, and I don't give a fuck if it makes sense or not. It was fast but I don't care. People might not get it like we do but again" — he dipped closer — "I do not fuckin' care. What I do care about is you."

Holy freaking hotness, I have WILD LOVE for this book!! If you're a fan of sexy, tortured Alpha heroes who will make you combust with their hotness, break your heart with their pain, and then melt you with their sweetness, this is the book for you! I laughed out loud, teared up, swooned, and could not stop reading! This was exactly the kind of book I love to read -- a UNIQUE, ADDICTIVE, SWOON-FILLED ROMANCE!! Easily one of my 2016 Top Favorites!

First things first, here's what the story is about...

Sydney Paige was never so mortified to hear the words "wrong number" in her life. She meant to tell off the guy who broke her best friend's heart, but unleashed her anger on a perfect stranger instead. And now her world is turned upside down by the captivating man who wants to keep her on the line.

Brian Savage is living a life he's quickly come to hate -- until her wild rant has him hooked and hungry for more. Soon the sexy woman on the phone becomes the lover in his bed. But Brian has secrets, and the closer he lets her get, the harder it is to shield her from the devastating mistakes of his past...

Intriguing, right?? :D

I totally loved the thrill of them connecting only over the phone in the beginning of the story. There was something so intimate and intriguingly mysterious about completely opening up to a stranger you'd never met and yet somehow knowing that you could trust them. And it led to a rather unusual situation where the hero and heroine fell in love practically before they'd even met. And you know what? I totally believed it. I think if someone had just told me about their situation, I might have been skeptical, but having read it, what they had made complete sense to me.

"Told you I was gone for you," he started. "Think you know what that meant. Think you might be feeling me the same way and that's what you were wanting to tell me." He ran his thumb along my jaw... "Am I right?"
I nodded. "Yes."
"Good," he said, smiling. "That's ours, Wild. What we have, how we build on it, and I don't give a fuck if it makes sense or not. It was fast but I don't care. People might not get it like we do but again" — he dipped closer — "I do not fuckin' care. What I do care about is you."

Now, let me tell you -- I did not see Brian's secret coming. Or rather, I thought it would be something that affected him -- but not them, so it was completely unexpected! But I loved the twist it put on the story. And the more we found out about the backstory behind what was driving him to do the things he did, the more my heart broke for this man. I actually completely understood why he wanted to keep this side of himself a secret from her -- it's just not the kind of thing that comes up easily in conversation -- especially not at the beginning of a relationship, and even more so given that their relationship had such an odd manner of development. But I was worried about it because as soon as he realized that he had real feelings for her, the way he chose to handle his "situation" would literally determine whether I loved or hated his character. And I have to say that I am so pleased to say that I loved the way he handled it. I'm not an overly judgy person so I wasn't bothered by what he was doing in principle -- especially given his motivation behind it. But I was concerned about what it meant for their relationship. But the way he handled it made me respect his character SO much. Even the mistake he made was understandable and the way he went about fixing it absolutely MELTED MY HEART!!! Gah. Seriously. What an amazing guy. You guys have to meet him!

I would never fucking hurt her. I’d die first.
That’s how far past gone I was.
And her knowing what I’d been doing before we had whatever the fuck it was we had could hurt her, in some way or another, so… I just held on to the one piece she didn’t need to feel. I did it to protect her. She didn’t need to know that ugly, and I was done with it.
All of it.
I’d make good of that as soon as I could. Maybe one day I could tell her everything, but I needed this to be solid first. I needed to make sure I had her in a place where, when I didn’t tell her, she’d understand why I did it. Getting there might take a while, but I wouldn’t keep this from her forever.
She was my girl.

Everything about this book just worked for me. I loved their characters both individually and together as a couple, I understood their mistakes, but respected the way they fixed things, and I was really rooting for them to be able to make their relationship work and wished for nothing more than to see them find their well-deserved happiness.

AHHHHHH this book was seriously just amazing!

SEXY. CONSUMING. PASSIONATE.
HEART-BREAKING. EROTIC. SWEET.

I couldn't get enough of it!

This book wasn't just an addictive story, it was also very well structured. I don't know the author personally, but just from reading it alone, I can tell that a lot of work went into making this book and polishing it. The story had strong pacing, well-developed and complex characters, a great balance between humor and emotions, the hotness was incorporated in the story in a way that made it quite erotic but also never overtook the heart of the story, the dialogue was on point, the characters made believable choices, there was no stupidity, and it had an extremely satisfying and full-filling ending (yes, with an epilogue). From beginning to end, this book really impressed me.

“I don’t understand what it was about you, but since that first day, that first text you sent me, it was perfect and everything I needed and you knew.” I lifted my head to look at him. “You just knew the right things to say and the right times to call. You healed me. You didn’t know it but you did.”

All the side characters also stole my heart. I know that several of the other couples will be getting their own standalone books next and I'm very eager to read them all. It's been a long time since I've cared about a group of characters so much from just the first book alone that I already know I want to read all their stories but I can honestly say I'm looking forward to each coming book. Also, the story is told in first person and alternating POVs.

“Knew you two were serious, but shit, not gonna lie, I didn’t think you were talking about moving in together yet. Not sure this is normal.”
“Normal for us.” I shrugged. “Don’t give a fuck what anyone else thinks.”

And finally I want to mention that if you're a fan of Kristen Ashley, then you should definitely read this book. One of the most common questions I get asked as a blogger is for recommendations of what to read after KA and to be honest, it's hard to name books that stand up to that quality. But THIS BOOK DOES. In all my years of blogging, this would the #1 book that I would recommend to KA fans. It's unique in its own right, but this author has definitely captured that same "possessive protective Alpha male" romance spark. I absolutely adored the writing style!

“Why are you calling me babe?”
I inhaled through my nose quickly, priming to respond when she filled in our silence.
“I like it,” she added softly, nearly a whisper, as if she was afraid to admit her honestly out loud. “I like Wild, too. I understand Wild, but babe? That’s a sweet name, and… really, I was terrible to you.”
“Got another suggestion?”
“Besides Wild? Satan.”
This time I didn’t keep my laughter quiet.
“You aren’t Satan, babe. You got sweet in you. A lot of it. Heard it in your voice even when you were laying into me, showing me your wild.”
“What?” she snapped. “I was not sweet when I was laying into you. I was feisty and a total badass. My best friend told me so.”
“You were a badass,” I agreed, doing it smiling. “But you were sweet, too.”

If you're a fan of sexy Alpha male romance and you want a unique, addictive, all-consuming story to fall in love with, then READ THIS BOOK!! It is officially one of my top favorites of the year!! I can't recommend it highly enough!

Rating: 4.5+ stars. First standalone in series of standalones. Adult romance.

2 stars, cuz.
Initially I wasn't going to rate it. But f it, why the hell not?

I'm super bummed out but I had to DNF this at 70% It was just ok for me.

Even York couldn't save this one. I REALLY loved the first 50% of the book but then I sort of just lost interest at 60% mark.

This is definitely my personal thing here so I'm certainly not discouraging anyone from reading the book. I just need the book to keep my attention and for some reason it didn't happen with this one. :(

The beginning was really slow but enjoyable, there were a lot of descriptions and interactions with the secondary characters in the book. I am assuming the future books in the series are going to be about those characters.

I lost interest soon after the main characters got together. Even though they were both working through a bunch of issues the story was lacking the anticipation factor, which I so need to keep me going. So definitely just me.

I just had to give this audio book a try. Well, cuz Sebastian York. nuff said.

This is my first read by this author and I’m seriously smitten with all the characters. The heroine, Sydney Whittaker’s husband has just bailed on their marriage and so she heads to stay with her best friend, Tori to pick up the pieces. Sadly, Tori is also handling the end of her relationship... these poor girls. When Sydney decides to be wild and tell off Tori’s ex things get very interesting. One wrong number and all of sudden it’s game on…

“Oh my God. I am so, so sorry. This…. Was clearly a call not meant for you. I’m sure you’re not a douchebag tool.” “Who sucks on dildos and gets fucked by his wife?”

description

Our hero, Brian Savage is on the other side of this phone call and the banter between these two is hot from the get go. Brian is completely taken with Sydney and as the story progresses so do their calls and bond.

“If I allowed her to tell me her last name, I’d search. If I allowed her to tell me where she lived, I’d move. My world was one miserable mistake-shaping seconds after another, except for the breaks in my misery that belonged to her.”

Imagine if after all this time they have had near miss meetings with one another. What if they are both actually living in the same town?!!

description

The anticipation and excitement of Sydney and Brian crossing paths is so well done!!! When it does finally happen it was all that I imagined it would be for them!

description

Brian has a sad past and very messy present. With Sydney's help Brian learns to move on and heal. They not only help one another but fall madly in love. The sex scenes are so very sexy while Brian Savage makes for one yummy hero!

”Wanna give you everything.” He licked his lips and stared at my mouth. “Everyfuckingthing, Wild.”

description

There are twists and turns added to this story as Brian and Sydney move on from their pasts to a bright future together. The next book is a total must read for me since its Tori and Jamie’s story. These two characters share an intense lust/hate vibe that is simply delicious. I would love a story for the broken single father owner of Whitecaps, Nate as well. So overall, this is an entertaining first book of a very promising new series!

I was über excited to read this latest release and had the privilege of reading an early copy. To say I was blown away by this book would not even cover how I felt. I was fully impressed with all and everything about this book and I happily spent my time getting lost in these characters lives.

Will a broken heroine find her way with an man who carries the secrets of a damaged past? All is revealed in this dramatic romance with a twist.

description

What did I love?
Readers, I was so impressed with how his story was woven together. It had an originality of story telling that made me sit up and take notice. Author J Daniels writes with conviction, heart and a lot of steamy goodness. All of the above combined proved to produce a romantic masterpiece that won me over straight from the start. My expectations of this book was to read something funny, light and adorable but I was side blinded in the best kind of way. Instead of funny I was given great depth and in place of funny and light I was provided with a story that captured my interest and kept me guessing. I loved the characters, instantly I felt connected to the heroine and I fell hard in love with the hero who deserves a top spot as a favourite hero. With the perfect amount of heat, well placed humour and love this book took itself straight into the five star zone without any room for doubt. To author J Daniels, thank you for sharing your talent with a reading community who love to fall in love.

“I needed you, but I didn’t know I needed you until you reached out to me.”

I have book friends who have been telling me to read this author FOREVER. So guess who is guilty of not reading J Daniels until now?

That's right. ME. Don't worry I will be reading more by her.

BUT, I am really glad this was my first book by J Daniels because I absolutely loved it. It came at a perfect reading time when I had been in a slump and then this wonderful pink pretty came into my life!

Sydney has just encountered a life changing moment when she gets the news that her best friend's boyfriend was a married man. Enraged she makes an angry phone call spewing venom..... only to find out to her horror it's a wrong number. The man on the other end Brian, gets a kick out of Sydney’s fire, and he finds himself reaching out to her after the initial phone call. The two begin a new friendship, turning to each other for conversation and advice. But Brian is hesitant to become more and Sydney needs to repair the damage done by her former husband.

“Oh my God. I am so, so sorry. This…. Was clearly a call not meant for you. I’m sure you’re not a douchebag tool.”
“Who sucks on dildos and gets fucked by his wife?”

I absolutely loved this book and these characters, every single one of them. Sydney and Brian’s story is a beautiful one where the two heal each other. Brian is easily your next favorite book boyfriend, that man is so beyond selfless and thoughtful, and he manages to do this without being a sap or any less alpha.

This book has everything you are looking for, scorching hot scenes, angst, romance, redemption, love, humor. Daniels was able to pull all of these things together into an unforgettable story that so many people will love. I cannot wait to read more by this author.

Title: Four Letter Word
Series: Dirty Deeds #1
Author: J. Daniels
Release date: October 4, 2016
Cliffhanger: No
HEA

J. Daniels knows how to write steamy. Sexy. Tantalizing. I'm talking explosively hot. But the best part about her books? Where a lot of erotic books will just end there, hers stand solid with actual substance to the characters and storylines. They are the full package: Humor, heat, with a side of sweet. From the very first time I read one of her books, I immediately clicked, so reading this one was never a question in my mind.

What I wasn't prepared for was for her to up her game once again. I'm not sure how she manages to accomplish this feat every time, but I can honestly say that this book surprised me. There was something about these characters that were just the little bit edgier, and she managed to have a fresh feeling to writing that I really enjoyed. Trust me when I say, you will devour this book and immediately go add Hit the Spot to your TBR. Get ready, because you're about to get hooked on an exciting new series.

Sydney's life is in shambles. Suddenly single and broken hearted, she picks herself off the ground and starts over in a whole new town with her best friend Tori. I loved the relationship that these two women had. They were true sisters in every sense that matters, and had each other's backs through everything in their lives. It was Sydney's loyalty to her best friend that led to "the phone call." The one that started it all. When she dialed the wrong number by mistake, she met someone on the other end that found her fire, her wild to be everything he didn't know he was looking for.

We didn’t know each other. Our encounter was a mistake. A one-time mishap, never to be repeated. Right?

They begin a friendship, getting to know one another at a deeper level before they even met. That was such a unique and fantastic part of the story. To see their attraction grow not from lust, but from something so much stronger. Not only that, but that build up to when they finally did meet was incredible. Once they moved to flirting, and started dancing around the possibility of actually meeting, you are right there with them and desperate for more. Only, there's something holding Brian back from meeting her. His life isn't everything it seems, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't bring himself to let her go.

My world was one miserable mistake shaping second after another, except for the breaks in my misery that belonged to her. And no way was I ready to give that up.

I absolutely loved these two together. They both had a lot of healing to do, each in significant ways. Brian needed to move past the guilt chaining him to a horrible tragedy, and she was just finding her wild spirit again after having lost it for so many years. Together, they grew and found a partner at a time when they least expected it. Brian has one hell of a secret, however, and the consequences of holding his silence may be the loss of the woman who has come to mean everything to him.

I can't stress enough how much I loved this introduction to the new series. As usual, she has me fascinated to read everyone's story, but Jamie and Tori's book is the one that has me very impatiently waiting to read. If you haven't read anything by this author before, now is the perfect time because these are going to be her best yet.

➳Even after reading it for the second time, it never sees to amaze me how much I love J's writing in every aspect...

➳J. Daniels has done it again, by providing a masterpiece full of compassion and pure insanity to my mental state that is currently filled with hyperaware of emotions! I got an advance reader's copy of Four Letter Word by J. Daniels two days ago, and honestly I screeched when I saw that NetGallery wanted an honest review. I have been waiting for this book for an eternity now! At the end of the day, I enjoyed this book way too much and I cannot wait for everyone else to start reading it and bawl their eyes out as well like I did... **cough cough** one box of tissues is not enough...

➳Darkly intense. We know that the protagonist- Sydney- is having some personal issues with her relationship that she has with her ex-husband, Marcus. What are the reasons for the ending of the marriage? We don't know just yet. But when her best friend, Tori calls her up because HER boyfriend has a wife and kid and was cheating on her and needs some friend support, it's obvious that Sydney is a selfless person because she leaves her issues with her ex-husband behind and goes to help her best friend in need of comfort. Though her issues are not far from her mind. Sydney constantly asks herself what she has done wrong...
Was I that blind? How stupid was I?

➳Which is something that we all as women would ask ourselves if we were in the same situation... We constantly blame ourselves, and what about your partner? Doesn't he have something to do with the problems you would both have? This book highlights the insecurities of Sydney, and it also highlights her characer development that inspires me and should inspire many others about becoming strong and not let our insecurities take the best of us, or even the worst of us.

➳This turn of event changes so quickly and her attitude escalates to a whole new level of badass and funny as hell when she makes that one phone call and Tori's reactions are on point comical!

➳So far, what we know of both protagonists are the basics: Sydney (female protagonist) is a radiologist, specifies herself in X-Ray examinations, she is 24 years old and is in the mids of a life changing experience, with the help of her best friend Tori. Brian (male protagonist) is the co-owner of a surf shop and also has a side job in which I will not state (spoilers) and he has it because of a past incident he had to witness.

➳Now, before I go on the real question is; "What is a great book of J. Daniels' if she does not add a spin-off to her story?" Well the answer to that is; "No book is great without a spin-off or a moment of shockness!" And J. Daniels has done it! She has accomplished that effect on me. Obviously I'm not going to say what it is that is so climactic, because that would be a true spoiler that I don't want to give away. BUT HOT DAM-WHA-BAM, was I NOT expecting this!

➳A tear fell down my face every now and then, and all because of Sydney. She is such a sweet character, a person with a pure and selfless heart and soul. Slow and steady throughout the story, she learns how to love, but most importantly how to truely love herself, have self respect towards her attributes and her likings, which is something that J. Daniels portrays in such a lovely way by adding Brian to the mix.

➳Brian... He is also another with such a dark secret. I enjoy reading these sort of stories, where both protagonists need each other for compassion and love. Brian may think he has a sense of lust for Sydney, but in reality they both need each for life to move on in their paths. Something that indeed made me see the light of the darkness, is the relationship that Marcus and Sydney had. Even though their "chemistry" drifted apart slowly, and their marriage was becoming part of the ruins, their arrangement and their consolation conversation they had opened my eyes to a new level. Marriage is something that has to part of our lives forever, "'till death do us apart..." And even though Marcus and Sydney definitely did not conger up to that statement, they both came to a mental realization that they are both better off separate. It's hard seeing couples- especially in a marriage status- separate from each others lives, but at the end of the day, would you rather see a struggling couple trying to regain their broken marriage, instead of a happy fulfilling person who is single and trying to find their inner self?

➳I would go with the latter, for sure!

➳Another elaborate comment about this story, is how J. Daniels adds little snippets of other characters' stories and their love lives. We have Tori and Jamie, Shay and Stitch, and also the sad story of Nate- their boss. And she seems to add these stories very carefully, by stillnot forgetting that the main focus of attention is Sydney and Brian.

➳In general, this book taken the next level of dramatic sweetness out of the park!

4 'Wild Trouble' Stars

Four letter word for a score of zero?
Love The answer is love, and I did, I loved this book, and the characters, and the overall feeling of the story. Just reading about Brian and Sydney make me happy and it was a pleasant experience of reading their story.

Sydney never thought her life would take such a drastic turn to where she was moving in with her best friend and starting a brand new job as a waitress. So when her friends heart gets broken by a douche bag she decides that enough is enough and these men need to stop thinking they get to mess with women the way they do. So she dialed up that bastard and let him have her anger, screaming at him about his use of dildo's and some other choice words. Too bad it was a wrong number and not the douche bag she meant to call.

Brian's life is of his own making, he doesn't think he deserves to be happy so he's stuck himself in a life that he doesn't particularly like. When he gets a random call from some woman yelling at him and saying the most outrageous things he laughs for the first time in what feels like forever and he enjoys his night. So then he texts the number, wanting more of that feeling. He just never thought it would be the change his life needed or that this woman would come to mean something to him.

Phone calls are so old school now, and I loved that this author went back to actually talking on the phone. In today's world most people meet online, they email, chat or whatever without ever speaking to each other and honestly it takes something away from that initial meeting. So I really enjoyed the fact that Sydney and Brian met because of a phone call and then got to know each other through actual conversations and not strictly a text relationship. I think it definitely added the uniqueness to this book and it was really fun to read about.

I'll admit that I was a little scared in the beginning that there would be some ex drama popping up in the end. There was none of that though, instead the story focused on the two main characters, which was perfect. The fact that J. Daniels kept it classy and didn't have any over the top dramatic moments made me like her as an author even more. There were still plenty of things that kept this book interesting, though, without having to have those crazy drama moments.

Four letter word for a persons interpretations of something?
Read As in, read this book! The characters are amazing, including the secondary ones, the story is intriguing, and it's hot as hell! So seriously, you need to read this book.

What is The Level of Terrific for FOUR LETTER WORD,
ANSWER: 5 Heartfelt Stars * * * * *
SPOILER FREE IT"S LIVE!!!
Ok, I would be lying if I didn't admit to thinking I would be "Oh so Clever" and do the entire review as a crossword puzzle...Yes, snappy answers all letting you know how much I loved this book...I know someone craftier will be able to pull all of that off...and even with it not out there yet... I am sure it will be great. The main point is how inspired and loving this book made me feel. Thank you J. Daniels for taking an idea and totally running with it. Also kudos to those you have mentioned in your acknowledgements. You tipping your hat to the hard working beta readers/bloggers goes a long way, and I for one appreciate it.

This is a book about chance and fate...about things happening without our total control. It is about understanding what we have control over...and what, in the overall grand scheme of things...we don't. These lessons may sound either obvious or could actually be very zen deep and important to think about when life hands you an experience of great impact. By thinking about these things and understanding them...it does not give you a pass on your behavior or actions...Personal responsibility is always there...What you do, how you act... those are on you. But sometimes... there can be other things surrounding your own actions...and it is in those situations I am referring to...

The blurb tells us of how Sydney and Brian have that chance meeting. It is a moment where Sydney, who is going through her own marriage breakdown, reacts to her best friend/sister girl's freakout on learning the guy she was involved with was married with a baby and stringing her along. Not only does Tori feel used, played, embarrassed but also furious and humiliated.

Sydney, takes all the pain Tori is feeling and it snowballs into an need to call the assh@le who did this to her very best friend and rip him a new one. Demanding the telephone number of said jerk, she pounds it onto her cel screen and hears a sleepy voice answer. Without taking a breath...she lands into this guy with visuals of what should be stuck in all of his most intimate places...she continues giving as good as she can, feeling not only Tori's rage but now all of her own hurt and pain from her husband informing her he was done and the marriage was over.

At a point where, the guy on the phone finally figures out what is happening, he laughs at the things Sydney is proposing his parts be tied into... and she realizes she is talking to the wrong guy. He has a lilt in his voice and a kind of admiring tone when he hears the why of the call...Sydney is embarrassed she was so graphic... but then again not...apologizes and hangs up.

And here is the beauty of this chance exchange for both of these people...

Both are at a crossroads- Sydney, with her ex dismissing her in such a cold distant way...starts to allow herself to look inward and possibly see she had given up so much of herself by being with this man. With her girl's encouragement, Sydney starts to revert to the parts of who she was when she free and on her own.

Brian has his own issues... He experienced something about 6 months ago which shook him to his foundation. He was impacted by this to where he has not recovered. The thoughts of it color his every thought and now all of his focus is to try to assist or remedy as best as he can. This focus, which can inhibit smart choices, causes a path which has its own ramifications.

These two lost people crossed paths and they touched a piece of them through it....She thinks of him/he thinks of her... and a text happens for Sydney by this stranger making her feel more cared for then she had from her ex husband.

A relationship starts... texting is so immediate, so private...and can cause joy straight to the heart...
This feeling is something Sydney decides to keep from her friend...she doesn't want to share, wants to keep it just for herself. It is special and dear...
Brian feels so connected with Sydney, he cannot imagine not reaching out to her night after night. He feels selfish and greedy because he knows he can never have her or deserve her...

This develops and takes a route like many young 25 somethings go...There is angst, pain and oh the feels....It has a man and woman who need saving and both are there to rescue each other. He is everything good yet also we know there will be a huge bump in the road coming for them ...It doesn't matter to us while we read because the romance, the feels are just too good.

J. Daniels has always been an impressive author to me. I think her crafting how we fall so hard for these two is remarkable. I am not this age demographic...yet when I read this, it was so understandable...from both sides...his and hers.

We also have the added bonus of a secondary couple which is Just The Best. Tori and Jamie. Their interaction, the foundation for their upcoming book, couldn't be better. All of their "stuff" made sense in this book... not just thrown in because another book is coming.

If you love angst... this is for you.
If you want to feel things and be there from the start...this is for you.
If you love Romance, then plan on being obsessed with Four Letter Word.

Overall Opinion: I really was liking this for the first part of the book, as I do tend to enjoy relationships that develop over something like texting/phone calls/letters/emails. Once they physically met we do get the hot sexy times, but we also go the lovey-dovey stuff that just isn't my cuppa. I like to feel the connections between the characters, and I felt like I was just constantly told about it instead through long(ish) inner monologues and cheesy dialogue. I know that some readers love that stuff, but I am ok in accepting that I am just a grouch when it comes to the cheesefests! ;). I also had really big issues with the major conflict being presented so late, and it also being resolved way too easily. So -- I'm going with a middle-of-the-road rating because I did enjoy the first part, but sadly couldn't connect with the last.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Sydney and Brian's story. The story starts with Sydney moving in with her best friend after her husband calls off her marriage. She is mad at men in general, and gets an idea to call the jerk that hurt her friend recently and give him a piece of her mind. She lets into him, but soon finds out that she got Brian instead when she dialed the wrong number. He thoroughly enjoyed the lashing he received, and makes contact via text the next day. They start a friendship though texts and phone calls, and soon become the highlight of each other's day. Eventually, their friendship turns into more and they start developing stronger feelings. They take a while to meet because of some events in Brian's past are holding him back, but once they do - they quickly fall in love. There still are big obstacles for them to get around...and they get a HFN ending.

POV: This alternated between Sydney and Brian's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Ok. I did feel like their big conflict was way too close to the ending (87%) and was resolved way too easily for my tastes. I did skim a few times when things got a little too mushy for me ;)

Instalove: No, they develop a friendship that turns into more.

H rating: 4 stars. Brian. I liked him. I felt really bad for his past and his guilt, as well as the mess he got himself into by the time he meets the h. I liked the way he loved her.

h rating: 3 stars. Sydney. Eh, she was just ok. Nothing to hate and nothing to love either IMO.

Sadness level: Low. No tissues needed.

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Moderate/high. They had some hot chemistry and scenes, but it felt like it became filler at times when we could've gotten some more substantial scenes instead.

Descriptive sex: Yes

Safe sex: Yes and no.

OW/OM drama: A little

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: Not IMO

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This had ok closure with what I would call a HFN ending. (See overall pace section above).

How I got it: I paid the $3.99 on Amazon for it.

Safety: I'd call this one either Safe with exception or Not Safe depending on personal preferences (mainly because of one of the H's professions)

Four Letter Word is everything I love about J. Daniels and yet it’s like none of her other books. This book is legit sexy sin and highly entertaining, like all of Daniel’s books, but the writing is so different. Nonetheless, I was easily pulled into the story and I am already ready for more in this series!

The story is told from Sydney and Brian’s point-of-views. We first meet Sydney when her husband decides he no longer wants to be married and informs her that he wants a divorce. I don’t think Sydney is necessarily heartbroken over the loss of him, but for the life, she thought she would have. Yes, she wanted more from her marriage, but letting go of her commitment isn’t easy. That night she leaves abruptly and goes to stay with her best friend.

Her bestie has just discovered her boyfriend has been cheating on her and with all of Sydney’s pent up aggression she decides to call the cheater and give him a piece of her mind. Let me tell you she gives him a HUGE piece of her mind and that’s the moment I fell in like with this strong, loyal woman. Then much to her horror, she discovers she has called the wrong number and through my laughter, I knew I loved Sydney.

Brian, the wrong number guy, actually falls a little bit for her at this point too. Well, maybe it’s best to say that he is intrigued by her. So what starts out as playful banter between the two of them leads to a real connection. I honestly loved how they got to know each other by phone first. The level of anonymity allowed them to be honest and share things we normally keep hidden. It also allowed them to truly get to know each other on a deeper level. As things progress Sydney wants to meet Brian, but he turns her down. There is still so much she doesn’t know about him, but her strong feelings leave her demanding more or putting an end to their relationship.

I really loved how Sydney and Brian were together. I loved the genuineness, honesty, and humor. They were so fun together and did I mention completely hot, but there was a lot more to the story. The emotional side had me really feeling for both Sydney and Brian, things are not what they seem and they both have obstacles to overcome.

My only complaint and believe me it’s a little tiny baby issue, this story read a lot like a KA book. Now I love Kristen Ashley, but her writing style is very distinct and while I was reading it I was almost distracted at times. Did that mean I didn’t love the book, absolutely not. I loved the alpha-male-directness, but it did cause me to pause a few times. Now this is something I don't think will bother most, so I hate to even mention it, it's just something that took away from my enjoyment.

So should you read this book, YES! I absolutely think so! It is definitely one of my favorite J. Daniels books and I can see why so many people are loving Four Letter Word!

Well, I finally finished this audiobook!
It's taken me so long because I only listened to it during long road trips, which are few and far between for me.

I have to say, I really am not a fan of audiobooks.
I find I enjoy reading far more than I do listening to stories.
My imagination makes it so much more enjoyable.
The narrators were ok but there were times their voices annoyed me.

This is one HELLA HOT READ THOUGH!!
Wow! I blushed quite often and had to make sure to turn down the volume when stuck in standstill traffic! LOL

I loved Brian and Sydney so much. They were everything together. Everything. Both of them are broken in a way. Both of them need to heal and give each other that.

I loved their banter and Good Lord were they hot together. The writing itself has a bit of a Kristen-Ashley-esque feel but without copying it J. Daniels makes it her own. Loved it, so happy I get to read Hit The Spot soon!

5 LOVE, NICE, COOL, STARS (I did my best to think four letter words to describe this book)

I love J. Daniels. I found her books very humorous, engaging and fun. Four Letter Word is the first officially published book I have read from her and to my surprise her writing style was written differently (to me and from the other books I have read).

To another surprise I really liked the new writing style. Just think alpha males from Kristen Ashley books. Very possessive, very strong and with a slight twang (although I don’t believe the hero is southern, but in my head he has the accent).

So, I love the author, I love the cover and I love the hero, this should be a slam dunk right? Well, it was.

This is a meaty book. You will get plenty of storyline, drama, laughs and dialogue. The characters are well developed and there’s awesome chemistry between the two main ones. That’s really important to me.

The book begins with Sydney leaving her husband. This wasn’t drawn out and it just bam happens. I really liked this. All of sudden we are swept into the story and I was ready for Sydney’s ride. She’s distraught and ready to move in with her best friend, Tori. Side note, I LOVE Tori and I can’t wait for her book. I want to read it like yesterday.

Brian is your everyday laid back guy. He lives in a house with his best friend, Jamie, who I love too. Another side note, it’s very important to me to love the side characters, which I did in this story and I hope each one will have a book, even Cole, who isn’t really present in the book, but I still love.

Brian co-owns a surf shop with Jamie. Brian also has a lot of issues which we find out fairly early in the book, but I’m not going to go into that because you should find out yourself.

Brian and Sydney develop this unique phone (not yet meet each other) kind of relationship and I tell you what, I gobbled it up like MAD! In this modern world more and more people are meeting on-line and forming relationships through that medium (I’m not saying the main characters do, but it’s almost like that). So its cute to read Brian and Sydney form this over the top romance. I was hooked.

What really worked for me was how real and honest the characters were. I loved the banter and dialogue and I liked how the story progressed. There was never a dull moment in the book for me.

If you are looking for an end of the summer read to get you ready for the new fall year, then this book is for you. I know that sounds odd, but it’s the book you want to read to say goodbye to summer and hello fall. It’s the perfect transition book. If that doesn’t make sense to you, then it’s a great book to read overall.

FOUR LETTER WORD … My teen asked me what I was reading and when I said, Four Letter Word he said, “You know what that means… it’s what they use for the F word.” Of course, I knew that which made me curious why this book was named that. But then again there are LOTS of words that are 4 letter words.

To name a few off of the top of my head:
LOVE
FAME
FEAR
DIET

It all began when Sydney calls the wrong number and lays into the guy who she thinks broke her best friend's heart. After that embarrassing episode, she never expected him to text her the next day. That begins their “virtual” relationship of getting to know the person without ever seeing the person.

Love was a risk. It was wild and unpredictable. You could either hold on for the ride, not knowing how it would end, or you could let go and never know the amazing you could’ve had.

I enjoyed this one. The premise was fun and had moments of laughter to heartache. The next book has two characters from this series that are right up my alley. Overall, I gave this book three-point seven-five stars because I enjoyed it but some parts were a little long. This is my first book by this author but it won’t be my last.

RATING: 4.5 “Give me butterflies” Hearts!!! <3

description
Best two and a half weeks of my life came from a girl who was never meant to give me anything.
And she was giving me everything.

Four Letter Word is a quirky, fun romance with a tantalizing mix of sweet and heat, delivering a good time from start to finish.

[Y]ou don’t question perfect moments. You let them happen.

Sydney is someone we can’t help but root for from the beginning, her emotional pain over the end of her marriage and her rocky relationship with her mother a catalyst for our heartache and sympathy. Though she’s emotionally vulnerable, her conversations with Brian liberate her feisty, spirited personality, bringing a smile to our faces as corny jokes, flirt-texts, and witty banter turn into a strong bond despite the lack of a physical connection between the two.

“You’re a dream, Brian Savage,” I repeated, dropping my head until our foreheads touched. “You’re my dream. The most amazing person I’ve ever known, and I’m going to heal you...I’m going to give you Wild for the rest of your life and so much of it you won’t have room to feel anything else.”

Brian is a classic romance hero, delighting us with his alpha possessiveness that turns charmingly soft in Sydney’s presence. While he’s as alpha male as they come, he also shows a vulnerability as his past is revealed, and we can’t help but fall as hard for him as Sydney does. Their romance is uniquely and beautifully intimate, the two of them forming a friendship—without having seen each other—that gradually builds in trust and respect until it turns to love and has us swooning left and right.

When you loved someone, they became your only and you wanted to be theirs, but the reality was sometimes you could only be their now and possibly their forever if you were lucky enough, but you could never be their only.

Ms. Daniels also does a wonderful job of crafting her secondary characters, both Sydney and Brian’s best friends’ verbal sparring is endlessly entertaining, and has us eagerly awaiting their book next.

Love was a risk. It was wild and unpredictable. You could either hold on for the ride, not knowing how it would end, or you could let go and never know the amazing you could’ve had.

Overall, Four Letter Word is an enormously enjoyable read with its zany meet-cute between our hero and heroine followed by a fairy-tale-like, heartwarming romance, easily earning a spot on our shelf of favourites.

This was such an anticipated release for me, I have been a fan of J Daniels for a long time. Unfortunately, this book was so slow for me, and I felt zero build up or connection between the two main characters. It was almost like insta-love, but with no basis or reason for their feelings. The two side characters, however, were a different story - I was so much more invested in them as a couple.

I can't put my finger on what was stopping me from enjoying this story, but it just fell flat for me and didn't feel like it was written by the same author as her previous books. Very disappointing.

I could not finish this book.

I originally dnfed this, but since I received an arc for book 2 I thought it was only fair that I finish the other half of the story. It was a cute read, but still a little too slow. But it made me want to read about Jamie and Tori even more cause there was a lot of setting up for the other characters books.

My Four Letter Word that describes this book: DULL.
Please don't crucify me, I tried! I really did, but this book fell flat in every area. (FLAT another four letter word...I'm having fun with this lol). I wanted to like this book, but the lack of depth and it being so one dimensional made it hard. I was definitely bored probably because most of the book is setting up the secondary characters stories for the other books in the series.

My book friends told me not to let this be my first J. Daniels book. But did I listen? Of course not lol.

I definitely plan on going back and reading her older books because even though this story did absolutely nothing for me, I still liked her writing and Daniels has such a devoted following so I have a feeling I will like her older books. Especially since her writing style reminds me a lot of Kristen Ashley.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Married right out of highschool, Sydney thought she had her happily ever after wrapped up but after being blindsided by her husband, even though the writing was on the wall, she gets a chance to find herself again. A chance aided by a mistaken identity and a wrong phone number.
Being woken up and cursed out by a strange woman somehow ends up being the best thing that could have happened to Brian. Drowning in guilt after an accident and just going through the motions in life, his late night conversations with the mystery woman are helping him live again.
After all their painful experiences, Sydney and Brian are about to be rewarded by fate.

Love was a risk. It was wild and unpredictable. You could either hold on for the ride, not knowing how it would end, or you could let go and never know the amazing you could've had.

First in the new Dirty Deeds series, Four Lettered Word, is a steamy New Adult read that incorporates some deep emotional elements. This was a new to me author and I couldn't help noticing how similar her writing style, especially with the hero's dialogue, is to Kristen Ashley. The verbiage and tone with the nicknames (babe) and hero's casual just accept it possessiveness of heroine was definitely reminiscent; this author's sentence structure and syntax is more on point and I think readable.

Our first introduction to Sydney is when her husband is telling her he is done with their relationship. We don't get to see the conversation but instead Sydney's thoughts and feelings, this was an incredible emotional way to start the story. The numbness the author was able to convey and then the sudden rushing of emotions hitting Sydney felt real and was powerful. Unfortunately, as the story went on I felt like Sydney started to display an immaturity that wasn't worthy of the first introduction to the character. Brian came off as a calm and cool character, he had a lot going on in regards to what he was dealing with but it worked in and with the framework of the story. The first 40% of the story worked really well for me but after that it started to lose me to redundancy and loss of sense of direction; some scenes could have been cut out.

The premise of Sydney and Brian getting to know one another over the phone was a solid one and I liked how they progressed from text messaging to talking but I would have liked to have seen more of those in depth conversations and felt their growing closeness. We're told they talked about their lives for hours but only get more superficial ones. I also thought when they started getting into phone sex that these scenes could have been drawn out more, they felt kind of like wham, bam, thank-you ma'am; felt like a lost opportunity for some great sexual heat and tension. This does read like a New Adult and I often find that they lack the emotion I'm looking for in sexual situations, so this could be a personal taste (going by the numerous reviews praising the hotness of this story, I'm the dissenting voice on this one).

One thing I liked about the main and secondary characters was the varied issues they all were dealing with. Brian's friends and Sydney's friends are all obviously being set-up for their own books and each was interesting in their own way. I do have to say though, that the introduction to Brian's friend Jamie (who also looks to be the hero in the next book) was extremely off-putting. His general actions throughout the story are fine but what I put in spoiler tags does not really endear him to me. The rest of the cast though look to have engaging backgrounds that could keep you locked into the series for a while.

I liked the beginning and how our couple got together but thought the rest sagged with the love developing too quickly between our leads and the second half of the story not really having anywhere to go. I think this would have really worked for me in more of a novella format, snappier tempo or if the emotion between our couple could have been given more breadth. However, if you're a fan of Kristen Ashley you'll definitely want to check this one out.

2 - Welcome to the cheese fest! - stars!

Let me start out by saying, I am a fan of this author and I have enjoyed several of her books (4-5 star reads). So expectations were high.. maybe too high.

So, I was slightly disappointed when @23% the MCs hadn't met, and I considered DNF'ing. I became VERY displeased when @34% the MCs STILL HADN'T MET and I needed some encouragement from my mate J to continue with the book. When they finally meet @47%, we were rewarded with immediate nookie...

My expectations to said nookie:

Ovaries photo: tumblr_m1gnruSq8F1r6jxa6o1_500.gif

Ovaries photo: died horny tumblr_lvassrr1w11qmx9n8.gif

My reality:

Cheese photo: Cheese cheese.jpg

And a lot more

Eye rolling photo: *bored and rolling eyes* tumblr_inline_mijem0FqnF1qz4rgp-bored_zps21f9bf6b.gif

Suffice to say, I am disappointed. The text messaging and banter was ok. I was entertained, but it was far from engaging enough to keep the suspense for HALF a book. When they finally meet, I felt myself being more interested in the storylines of the secondary characters.

The H was a weird mix of an ARR character with the typical KA speech. The insta-love and "boom" known from ARR's heroes combined with the broken speech with lack of noun (the typical KA sentences that start with verbs only), but without the badass alphaness. What was lacking was the chemistry. I did not feel them as a couple at all. Mind you, we only get to experience them together for the last 50%, but the first half was so underwhelming that even if the latter half was explosive, I doubt it could have saved it for me.

The h was... forgettable. I already forgot her name and any other detail about her.

For the safety gals:

Ending. Again, I was quite underwhelmed. Everything that happened, I expected. There were some, IMO, loose ends, such as the h's ex and her relationship with her mother. She and Marcus were together for 7 years and I am really surprised that it just ended the way it did. It felt so abrupt and... anticlimactic. I would have loved to know if she continued to be estranged with her mother further down the line. Maybe in future books.

All in all, I skimmed the sh!t out of this book! Even the nookie couldn't hold my interest. The MCs were bland and I won't remember them tomorrow. Did I enjoy it? I'spose so...

Dual POV. HFN. Epilogue one week in the future. It's a series, so I expect to hear more about this couple and how they fare. That is, if I choose to continue..

(Source: I received a finished paperback copy of this book for free on a read-to-review basis. Thanks to Little Brown Book Group.)

“On a growl he wrapped his one arm around my waist and slid his other hand to the back of my neck, gripped me there, and yanked me down until he could take my mouth in a kiss that tasted like love and felt like madness,”

This was an adult contemporary romance story, which started with a wrong number.

I felt quite sorry for Sydney, as her husband was a bit of a waste of space, it was good the way she hits things off with Brian though. Brian on the other hand should really know not to try and keep huge secrets from his significant other.

The storyline in this was about Sydney meeting Brian by calling his number by accident and shouting at him thinking he was someone else. They then started messaging each other, and gradually got to know each other, before eventually meeting and starting a real relationship. Brian was hiding a massive secret from Sydney that was always going to come to light and ruin things, but we did get lots of really steamy sex scenes, and Sydney and Brian made a hot couple.

The ending to this was pretty good, and I was pleased that things worked out okay in the end.

Four Letter Word is the perfect blend of heat, emotion and humor. J. Daniels does an excellent job pulling you in with relatable characters, solid writing and a beautiful story about finding love when you least expect it and forgiveness. I can't wait to see where she takes us next with Tori and Jamie!

"5 WILD was his four letter word for "love" stars"

This book was AMAZING!!!

I belonged to someone. This girl fucking had me. Craziest shit I'd ever felt.

I enjoyed it so damn much! The story line, the characters, their chemistry, not only between the main couple but also between friends, the love they had for each other was really inspiring...

description

Sydney Whittaker was my fucking dream. Soft and Wild and mine!

Brian was the B.E.S.T! I Loved him to pieces...My God he was amazing! He had such a big heart and when he fell for his Wild he was ready to do anything to keep his Girl happy and loved and protected. I think he is the prince charming every girl is looking for...At least I do!!!He made my heart melt too many times to count. There are so many things I can tell you to describe Brian but this review will never end...He was that GOOD!

"I can be sorry for a lot of things and I am, I regret a lot of shit, but getting you? Fuck that. I'm not sorry. I'm in love with you. I'll die being in love with you."

Those pesky little butterflies were back, enjoying their favorite flip and twist.

Sydney was one of the most amazing persons ever! She was so damn cute and beautiful and lovely and she put her whole heart in everything she did. She is one of my favorite heroines ever! She kept amazing me with the way she treated everyone and how easily she accepted Brian and his mistakes, (not all of them but she had her reasons and I don't blame her). I loved how innocently she fell in love with him with flips and twists and butterflies.

"You are a dream, Brian Savage”. You’re my dream. The most amazing person I’ve ever known, and I’m going to heal you. I am, and you’re not going to be able to stop me so don’t even bother trying. This is happening. It’s my turn. You healed me and now I’m healing you. I’m going to do it. I’m going to make sure you’re okay, and I’m not going to stop until there is none of that guilt left inside of you. I’m not going to stop until you’re the one telling me that accident wasn’t your fault. I promise. Forever.” I’m going to give you Wild for the rest of your life and so much of it you won’t have room to feel anything else.”

Brian and Sydney were so great together, they completed one another in the most perfect way. Their chemistry was INTENSE. They could talk about everything and anything. And when they started their more intimate phone calls my God I was shocked their phones didn't cut on fire...

"Wanna set your whole fucking world on fire, babe,'cause that's what you've done to mine.

description

You see when they were talking on the phone it was hot, but when they met the hotness was on another level. My tablet was on fire, I was on fire and panting with the things Brian said and did! I'm surprised my house didn't cut on fire and I'm not exaggerating...He was hot, possessive, with a dirty mouth that turned you on without even touching...I know right? But what made it even hotter was that Sydney was sitting around and let Brian do the whole work, mmmhmm she gave back as good as she got! That's what made this book so H.O.T!!!

"Fuck, you're so fuckin' tight, Wild. Squeezing me like that...Jesus."
"I told you I was little down there."
"Weren't lying, babe. Shit is like a vise around my cock. Christ, I'm fucking close already."
"You're welcome."
"Don't be cute while I'm fucking you, Syd."
"I can't control my cuteness, Brian, It just flows naturally."
"You're being cute again."
"Completely accidental. Come on, big boy. I've heard I'm wild
when I come. You don't want me cute, better do something about it.""

See the challenge there and how comfortable they were with each other even during sex!?

Never felt anything like this. Told you I didn't care how crazy this was. Still don't. I love you."
"I love you, too. You're the best mistake I've ever made."

Overall it was a great book!I had an amazing time reading it and I can't wait for the next books. I already have some couples in my mind that I would like to read about! I love this author and her books are wonderful, that's why I keep coming back for more. In this book though the only odd thing, at least, for me was that the way Brian talked it remind me a lot of KA's heroes and writing style. That's not necessarily a bad thing but I already liked J. Daniels writing style so I don't see the reason she changed it.

"Hit the Spot" is coming next. Jamie and Tori's book! December 6th 2016!

Enjoy! xxx

4,5 Wild&Trouble Stars! Sweet captivating story. When I think about my emotions while reading it, it was a little bit of everything. And that's really what I like the most in books. All kinds of feelings, laugh, tears, anger and enormous love.

About the plot: It starts with a big mess for Sydney and her friend Tori. Syd leaves behind a house that she knew the past few years and goes to her friend. She is so angry at everything and wants to give a hard time to Tori's former boyfriend by phone. But she selects the wrong number... The man who listens to harsh words, is so intrigued that he decides to maintain contact with her. Brian has his own problems and the conversation with the girl helps him forget. They through these conversations formed a bond, help one other, and in the end also fall in love. But the closer they are to each other, the more difficult is to him makes an admission of his life errors.

“Best two and a half weeks of my life came from a girl who was never meant to give me anything. And she was giving me everything.”

Some thoughts:I totally fell in love with the series after only the first book. And why is that? Because the heroes of this story are amazing, and they have a fantastic group of friends behind their backs.

From the very beginning their history is very addictive. You're intrigued and want more. It is difficult to break away from this book when you start it. The story fantastic develop and you can not not fall in love with their characters. I definitely did. They are madly good together, even if only by phone. It explodes when they are together and you really want to get to this point.

“I’m going to give you Wild for the rest of your life and so much of it you won’t have room to feel anything else.”

I love all those moments that lead to this, but perhaps even more when they are together. Then it is just so sweet and funny but also sexy as hell. Brian has a dirty mind and does not hesitate to use it. There are also moments that not only wet your panties, but also moisten your eyes. With a bit of tension and anxiety, the storyline has several layers and outside the wonderful love tells a story about forgiveness yourself the mistakes of the past.

“One word that held so much and sounded so loud, and if it was written, I could read it forever.”

It all makes for me is that the book is a hit. I never before read J. Daniels, but if she writes so cool stories, I already know that I will have to catch up. I tear off small half a point for the slowdown after the middle of the book. But that's just it. Other than that, the book is a great read and the promise of another story from a group of friends, which we could quite well already explore, makes you want more and more. It promises to be a sensational series, such that I like the most.

5 “WILD was his four letter word for love” STARS

I admit to being a bit new to J. Daniels. I have only read her Sweet Addiction series, but I find myself drawn to her style. I was so pleased to have got the opportunity to read this new release and even more fired up at the story that ensued!

Four Letter Word is one of those reads that just hooks the reader in from page one and keeps them locked in with every scene. This is sweet and emotional love story with a unique twist on falling in love quickly with a ton of Daniels’ signature heat!

This book starts with Sydney falling apart in the midst of a heartbreaking life crisis. She puts her own personal hell aside and enters a new town to comfort her life-long best friend whose love life just fell apart. What better way to release her own frustration than to give her own two cents to the jerk who crushed her bestie’s heart. She has no idea that her angry tirade toward a philandering jerk would alter her life forever…especially since her rant may have just been delivered to the wrong number! While most men would find offense to the cursing wild woman on the other end of the line, Brian is nothing but amused and completed intrigued by the contrite and funny voice resonating in his head.

What starts as a funny, lol moment ends as a new unexpected friendship. Small texts with fun banter and flirting as well as simple “how are you” questions create a fun and fascinating progression of a relationship as Sydney and Brian begin to move forward with their lives together, while apart.

I say all the time that I do not like insta-anything, especially love. Somehow here, this author creates a bond between a man and woman that yes, while fast, was done so well. It was as if Sydney and Brian were two souls meant to be. Maybe it was his strong, broody, but sincere tone and concern or her open good natured heart. Somehow this couple became from simple but honest phone communication. I loved the care and concern, the emotions of learning to trust and feel safe wrapped in the comfort of someone’s voice. I also loved the angsty feel of wanting more…needing to be touched and to feel. The build-up of a face to face meet was amazing…the moment of realization…beyond perfect. There is just something so beautiful, a movie moment of perfection, when a man takes a woman’s face in his hands! I could point out a hundred different moments of swoon where J.Daniels had feeling everything.

So with panty-melting hotness, heart touching words with meaning, and acts of kindness, this is a fabulous love story. There is no easy path to happiness and the lives that Sydney and Brian lived apart will influence their lives. There cannot be good passion without even better angst. Four Letter Word has it all.

5++ WILD stars

Hot, funny and extremely romantic, Four Letter Word knocked my socks off and blew my mind. It was just the right combination of playful, sexy and sweet.

This book starts off with the heroine leaving her husband and relationship of 7 years or so. Due to the imminent divorce, she feels depressed and so alone. So she runs off to her best friend Tori’s house. She needs her friend and just needs to get away. A misunderstanding over the phone with a stranger (Brian) will soon result in an entire relationship based on phone conversations and text messages. Whenever she needed somebody to talk to, she could talk to Brian. He was a very good listener; he was her friend and her confidant trusting him with her private thoughts and deep secrets. But, Brian has a dark and tragic past and he’s currently leading a double life. Being in a relationship with somebody who lies is tough and Brian will soon discover the devastating power of lies.

"My world was one miserable mistake-shaping second after another, except for the breaks in my misery that belonged to her. And no way was I ready to give that up."

Brian is everything you want in a book boyfriend. He's ridiculously hot, charming, sexy, playful and caring. We do find out why he is in the Adult Film Industry….it broke my heart. He truly was a broken man. It’s no wonder love is the last thing on Brian’s mind when Sydney enters his life in the most unexpected way. We see them grow together and individually. While he knows that she doesn't belong in his world, he can't stay away and boy do things get heated when he rocks her world.

"Wanna set your whole fucking world on fire, babe, 'cause that's what you've done to mine."

There was a great mix of suspense with the storyline and well written sex scenes. I really enjoyed watching Brian and Sydney’s friendship grow and move into something more. There are many twists and turns in this book. Some you see and some you don't. This is a book about self-discovery, second chances, and new beginnings. A book that will renew one's faith and show fighting for love and life is worth it!

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a love story with great steam! The author created a heartbreaking novel full of hilarious and passionate moments that made me laugh and tingle in anticipation.

2.9888 -slow, would be a four letter word- Stars

The first 47% of this book consisted of some background intros, some phone conversations, some texting, some phone sex, some "nearly meeting" scenes, some insta-attraction (stemmed from these phone calls), some possessiveness (stemmed from said insta-attraction due to said phone calls)... and a WHOLE lotta waiting around for these MC's to actually meet....
description

When these guys FINALLY see each other in the flesh for the first time, the nookie was ON like donkey kong, and I braced myself for some good times ahead because hey; I waited 47% for them to meet! Mama's gotta get paid!

But sadly, I didn't get the big payout that I was hoping for. I guess this story just didn't engage me as much as some of the other stories on the author's book shelf however, after the 47% mark, it picked up a little more and got better for me - albeit a little OTT. I enjoyed the sweet moments, the sexy moments and all the scenes introducing the secondary characters. I only wish I believed the connection between the MC's more.

Although I highly disagree with the h's insistence to get her bff together with the H's manwhore bff; I am genuinely keen to find out how that story plays out in the 2nd series instalment. But seriously; It's kinda degrading to her worth, so please take a page from the girl-code book and stop trying to force them together! And btw, as her best friend; Do you really think some dude calling her "Legs" it's sweet? Really!?

But yeah, I'm probably gonna read Tori and Jamie's book when it comes out, even though it'll most likely do my head in... cos I'm strong like that...

Told in dual POV with HFN at the end. Standalone story in a series. Don't let my ditzy, sleep deprived thoughts skew your decision to read this book. It was still well written with some filthy-mouth smexy scenes to wet anyone's jocks.
