When the abused decide to fight back, the abuser's world might just shatter. Lauren Covington's family maintains a grand facade that belies the life they live behind closed doors. Alex Covington, Lauren's father, keeps a tight rein on his family through dominance, abuse, and obsessive control. Consequently, Lauren doesn't believe she could ever trust a man, much less fall in love with one. When Lauren meets Jesse Ryder, her carefully constructed protective wall shatters. She falls hopelessly and completely in love. It's only fitting that Jesse is a private detective who had once worked for her father, had defied him, and was now the subject of Alex Covington's wrath. Amidst devastating loss, betrayal, and her father's destructive pursuit of Jesse, Lauren finds the trust and love she had always longed for.
This was a pretty good romance-thriller about a girl finding her man & dealing with her abusive father. The situation was fairly horrifying & logically structured. The hero & heroine were both tough, but very believable. While there is some sex, it wasn't over done nor too explicit. I should probably give the book an extra 1/2 star for that since too many authors succumb to filler sex lately.
If I have any criticism, it's that the fight scenes just didn't work all that well for me. They weren't bad, but they didn't grab me the way they have in other books. The detail & logic of the story suffered a little there. Still, they weren't bad - just not as good as the emotions & motivations.
The good guys were all very likable, while the villains had no redeeming qualities, so there was no trouble separating the two nor was there much doubt how it would all play out. Still, there were some interesting twists throughout the story.
It was a fun, quick read. I'll be interested in reading another book by this author in the future. After finding out it was her first book & was self edited, plus the lack of sex, I just can't resist giving it an extra star & will REALLY be interested in her future work.
This is probably one of the most depressing books I've ever read. To call this romantic suspense is doing RS a disservice. An entire book detailing the dysfunctional family drama of a narcissistic/abusive father, his wife who puts up with it, their son who kills himself and their daughter (the 'romantic suspense' part) who is too spineless to leave home and take her mother with her. Thoroughly disappointed, and definitely would not recommend this unless you just want to be dragged down.
F+ (the + being because the writing itself didn't suck)
Very well written! Interesting, entertaining and overall a great read. I was at first worried about the name and the picture on the cover, but after reading two other books by the author firstNo Justice and Hit List I realized that the author simply writes well all the time. Something else I noticed about this author: she manages to add unpredictable and thrilling turns in all her novels when you at least expect it. And yes, you kind of know that the two main characters will find their happy end, but you will never be able to guess all the "how it will happen", which, of course, makes this book such a "take a break from the day and get lost in a good escape-book" read.
Honestly, I have no idea how this book ended up on my kindle. Because of the cover I thought it was something inappropriate for a while. I ended up reading this book because I finished a previous one while on a trip. The book definitely sucked me in and I wanted to finish it just to see how it ended, but it's not the most imaginative book. The writing in the book is fairly simply which makes it a quick read but a little dull on the character development side. I think the relationship between Jesse and Lauren was too automatic - they basically instantly fall in love with no real insight into why.
This read like an author's debut. I was surprised to find that it wasn't. If you are looking for a nice piece of fluff, this isn't it. Very dark, and at times just made me angry because of the characters lack of development. I made myself finish it. I'm glad this was a freebie!
Don't you enjoy the moments when you see the school yard bully humbled by the former victim?
Lauren Covington is a 23 year old student and employee at the newspaper. Out with her friends she seems happy go lucky but at home she's domineered by her father, Alex. Alex is a control fanatic who physically and verbally abuses his family.
The most fortunate day of her life, she meets Jesse Ryder, a private eye. Jesse had been doing some work for Lauren's father's law firm but when they asked him to manufacture evidence to send an innocent man to jail, he refused. No one refuses Alex Covington and he is determined to teach Jesse a lesson.
Jesse takes a laid back approach until Lauren tells him about her brother who is having a hard time with his father and finally pays for his troubles with his life.
Darcia Helle tells a captivating story. She is a student of the people around her and can tell a story with believable characters that are well drawn. She states that her influences include Tami Hoag, John Sanford and Janet Evanovich and this novel should be placed in the libraries of women's shelters throughout the country.
Copies can be obtained at the author's website www.QuiteFuryBooks.com or at Amazon by searching and indicating paperback copy.
The story had a good resolution and taught the reader a lesson.
Enemies And Playmates (Darcia Helle) is a suspense novel. Lauren Covington should have the perfect life. Her father is a high powered attorney, she lives in a beautiful home and is attending a prestigious university. But her family life is not what it appears to be. Her father is abusive, manipulative and controlling. Lauren is tired of the lies and hiding her family secrets.
Jesse Ryder enters her life. He worked for her father at one time, and knows the truth about Alex Covington. Soon Lauren's life is spiraling in new direction. She is falling is love. This love turns to be dangerous as her father come between the two. Lies, deceit, betrayals and murder abound in this page turner.Fast paced and full of twists, secrets and surprises. Another great suspense by Miss Helle.
Though the cover of this book would have one believe it's a romance novel, it actually read more like a suspense/thriller to me. But I don't get paid to categorize books.
Anyway, this book kept my interest somewhat, but overall I wasn't too impressed with the plot. Also, I didn't get emotionally involved in ANYONE in this story, and there were a lot of reasons I should have as it dealt with some pretty heavy topics. But not once did I feel anxious for them, scared, excited, happy, sad... I got nothing from them. They all seemed like characters, not real people.
That being said, I commend anyone who can write a mystery and tie all the pieces in. That's what the two stars are for.
I am one of those fortunate ones that didn't come from an abusive home. I do have 2 friends that I knew in Jr high and high school who WERE though. I think I can relate to Carrie from this story - the helpful friend who is in the dark about knowing what to do to fix things.
This story was awesome - I really loved it - I've read about "Oh I was abused as a child which is why I turned out this way" in many other books - but this book is first hand information as it all happens right now.
We start off the book with Lauren and her 2 friends Gina and Carrie hanging out at a bar - Carrie and Gina are easy and outgoing, comfortable in their own skin and anxious to hook up with the next hot thing - Lauren isn't that way.
She has issues with getting close to guys - it's not just because she comes from an abusive home. She knows there are good guys out there who don't raise a hand to their wives, but how do you know who you can trust?
So Lauren was sitting at the bar watching her friends dance, wishing she had the guts to go out there and join them, when her eyes meet up with the tall dark and sexy stranger at the other end of the bar. He's looking right at her.. and he's not taking his eyes off.. Not wanting to get caught looking interested, she turns away. But she can still feel his intense stare boring into her back - she peeks again and yes he's still looking.
She turns back around, then out of nowhere, he appears right next to her. "I'm sorry for Staring, Well no, I'm really not. I'm just sorry for being so blunt about it.... Can I sit here and buy you a drink? ,,,, One drink? Then if you want me to get lost, I promise I will."
Lauren couldn't help but smile "You've got a deal" He slid onto the stool. "My name is Jesse Ryder." "Lauren Covington" "Covington? Any relation to Alex Covington?" "he's my father. Why?" "I've been doing some work for him...."
YIKES - that doesn't say much about this guy! Lauren knew her dad was the top dog of the city - the best DA who would do ANYTHING to win a case. So how was this guy mixed up with her father? And how much did he really know about him? She should tell him to get lost, instead she looked up and got lost in his eyes.
When Lauren's friends return from the dance floor, they introduce themselves to Lauren's new friend. When Gina asked Jesse if he was here alone his eyes still locked on Laurens, "I was. But I hope I'm not anymore... I'm on probation till Lauren finishes her drink." Lauren laughs "Probation period is over." He can STAY!!! lol
When Laruen finally becomes sane and realizes she is crazy for hanging out with this guy - he works for her father of all people, she makes up an excuse and leaves him with her friends.
Luckily Jesse is a smooth talker and was able to get Lauren's number from her friends before he left :)
Things at home for Lauren weren't going very well. When she walked in her dad had her 17 year old brother up against the wall yelling in his face about finding a job - Stephen isn't the manly man that Alex Covington wanted in a son, in fact, he's a pretty big loser in his eyes. Lauren was the strong one, the one that always had something to say - if only she had been born a male.
Alex has a messed up head - he's very controlling and very sure of himself. He works hard to get people to trust him. But his life isn't perfect.
Kara is a sweetheart of a mother - she loves her 2 children unconditionally. And when they tried to step in and stop their father from hitting her, it just made him more angry, so she begged the children not to interfere anymore. It only made things worse. She knew this wasn't the life she wanted to live, but how do you get away from someone like Alex Covington? He would kill her for breaking up his perfect family and causing a scene.
Stephen - 17 year old kid - takes a lot of crap from his dad, he use to be close with Lauren, but lately, he's been distancing himself away.. hanging out with new friends - drinking, drugs - anything to numb the arguing and hitting they hear day after day ...
This story has a lot of ups and downs. It's a very emotional book. The romantic scenes between Lauren and Jesse are very mild (which is why I think the cover is very misleading) But it's sweet and caring and loving and really is a great story.
There are a lot of people that don't like Alex Covington, and a lot of people who are trapped into doing things for him, and even more people on his payroll - so bringing him down is going to be tough - and bringing down his posse with him is going to be even tougher, especially while they're all trying to kill you
A lot of twists and turns and surprises - the nonstop action of chases going on til the very last page -
This is a fast-paced action packed book! There are so many twists and turns, most of them leaving me with my mouth open as they were so unexpected! Darcia Helle is undoubtedly a talented writer who knows how to hook the reader and keep them interested with a well structured and fulfilling storyline. This story would make a good film, I'd love to see it on the big screen. Lauren Covington meets and falls in love with Jesse Ryder. She has a deep mistrust of men due to her violent father, Alex, a well-respected lawyer who shows one face to the world and another to those nearest to him. At home and in his personal life he is one of the greatest villains ever to grace the pages of a crime novel. Despite her reluctance to let him get closer, somehow Jesse's irresistible charms get the better of Lauren. Soon she is in too deep even though she knows that her relationship could cause problems. By an unhappy coincidence, Jesse, the one man who could offer her some happiness away from the dark and terrifying world at home, has worked for her father in the past and there is unfinished business. The characters are all well developed and very believable. I found myself being able to picture very clearly all the action as Darcia Helle's skills for describing events are well tuned. Much of the action is character driven with a great deal of conversation, making the book a page turner. I would recommend Enemies and Playmates to everyone. I was surprised to hear that this was the author's first novel as it is so skillfully written, and it has made me eager to read more of Helle's work.
In this suspenseful and entertaining novel by Darcia Helle, Alex Covington is a powerful attorney who beats his wife and terrorizes his children (his college student daughter Lauren is the protagonist). When Alex tries to add private investigator Jesse Ryan to his corrupt payroll, he finally meets a man strong enough to challenge his vicious ways.
The story begins as Lauren’s friends drag her to a nightclub where she meets Jesse, and their mutual attraction is tangible. I liked how it was unclear if Jesse was one of her father’s minions at first. Then I really grew to love Jesse. He and Lauren are excellent characters.
Lauren has a younger brother Stephen, and his storyline is heartbreaking. Due to his father’s harsh criticism and bullying, Stephen has immersed himself in drugs. Lauren wants to help him but doesn’t know how.
There were several unexpected developments that kept me on my toes. The Gina storyline shocked me. I was also surprised when Kara, Lauren’s mother, pulled some moves of her own. And, happily Darcia is not afraid to kill off characters!
I particularly enjoyed the banter between Jesse and his police friend. The story was a good balance between romance and suspense. I thought Alex’s character could have been more multi-dimensional, and I was frustrated by Jesse taking so many risks but I guess that’s the kind of hero he is.
I'm not quite sure how I feel about this book yet. I found myself constantly annoyed with both Lauren and Jesse. Their constant "I'm worried about you, don't be worried, I love you, I love you too, I'll tell you later how I got hurt, okay I love you, I love you too, I want him dead, me too, but we can't kill him, oh yeah right"
I just felt like a big majority of the book was random almost-death experiences that they seemed to get out of all okay every single time, no one really hurt. Not badly anyways. But I mean, I was constantly wondering when Alex would just get shot, his character was infuriating, and I often wondered if he felt even a bit of tenderness for his daughter, as she always said "something else lurked in his eyes when he looked at lauren" or something like that. Then nothing came of it and he was dead before he got to talk to Lauren. I truly expected a confrontation to come about between them, about the article, about her being there at the intended hit on her mother. But nope. I don't know, I felt some things were missing, and other things were drawn out quite a bit.
This book was a page-turner and I found myself looking forward to the times that I'd get a chance to sit down and read more of this compelling romance/thriller. It kept me up several nights, glued to the page. Readers will sympathize with the main character Lauren and her love interest Jesse as they deal with her callous and shady father. This is a book in which readers know who the enemy is and are captivated to see how Lauren and Jesse will overcome all the danger thrown in their path. Author Darcia Helle surprised me several times with stunning plot twists that I didn't anticipate. She has several other books written and I can't wait to read her others. You'll be glad that you discovered this talented new voice in suspense fiction.
A decently written plot with nice characters but lots of unexplained elements. How does a lawyer in a small town (atleast it seems to be a small town) yield so much power over everyone in his sphere? How can he be mistreating so many women and not one complains? (his wife, daughter, secretary, receptionist, daughter's gf, an escort girl....6 at the very least). How can the Police Captain order a major chunk of the police force to work for the bad guy, misplacing evidence, falsifying evidence etc and noone picks up on it????...
It all just seems a bit too fanciful. A larger than life hero and even worse a larger than life villain!!!!
This was OK. The premise was interesting but the story dragged with a telling of every day's events. The resolution was a let down too. An explanation for why Alex was so evil might have helped.
Honestly I think the title of this book drew me to it, it was free on Amazon Kindle one day and I thought it (the title) sounded interesting. I do not think I even read the description, but I am so glad that I got it!
In this book we meet Lauren Covington and Jesse Ryder.
Lauren is a collage student and aspiring journalist. Form the out side her family is perfect, a loving mother and father, perfect home, money, everything they could ever want. But Lauren has been living with a dark secret in her family all her life; her father abuses her mother, badly, and she and her brother are not left out of it either. She has long since learned to be quiet and let things be, but when her brother dies Lauren can't be quiet any longer--it has to end.
Jesse Ryder helps everything come into play. As a private investigator Jessie has did one job for Alex Covington before, a simple one, but when he wanted Jesse to do another but illegal job for him, Jessie refuses. Unfortunately for Alex, Jesse has ethics and a strong will that won't let him back down, no matter what.
Falling in love with Alex Covington's daughter was not something he planned, and doesn't help his situation any but the two are drawn together and Jesse will do anything to protect Lauren and take her father down.
Alex has been controlling and manipulating people for a long time, and consequently has a lot of connections, bringing him down is going to be harder than anything Jessie has ever done, if they can do it at all.
This book was great. The emotion of the characters, especially Lauren, her mother, and brother are expressed so clearly in the book that it is almost like living them yourself.
Jesse and Lauren's relationship is great and bad--great because they are perfect for each other but bad because of her father.
Her father. From the very beginning we see his true colors, we actually get a few parts from his point-of-view and my hate from him grew more and more throughout the book--he is horrible, cold and very calculating. Besides anger I do not think he ever expressed any other feelings/emotions.
We also get Jesse's POV and Lauren in the book, most of the first half his Lauren but the second half of the book is mostly Jesse.
Overall Enemies and Playmates is a very engrossing read. I started reading it last night and could hardly put it down to go to bed. We live through Lauren and Jesse's life as they go through the ordeal and learn, it is an emotional ride and we learn both characters true strength of will in the end.
This is one book I will not soon forget. I would recommend this book to anyone.
Seriously ... WOW. I've read so many stating this book was dark and only got darker. Okay, yes it's not a topic that should be taken lightly. Darcia, however, made this book more about the air of mystery and finding a solution. There are definitely elements of what went on, but a lot of it use your imagination because it really is just skimmed over, well the details of the abuse were. Alex Covington was pretty much the evil incarnate himself. Wow I just couldn't get over the lengths he went to because he wanted to rule over everyone...damn. You definitely know people can be ruthless, but hot damn...he didn't abuse it, he slaughtered. Having a good understanding of what abuse is, really helped understand and fill in those missing details. As the characters living this hell, oh yeah it was dark. But I've read some darker angst and this story did not have my heart racing. It had me riveted to find out the conclusion. It had me totally loving Jesse and loving every bit of this cocky, snarky, and sexy man! Lauren could have used a bit more backbone if you'd ask me. She always gave excuses when she knew things were wrong...but that's the thing I got and let it slide. You're in this situation you don't know how to get out or even help. There was a bit of hopelessness in this story that had you wanting to wake them up and get away from this man...but the power he already exuded was entirely impossible to Lauren and her mother. Stephen was the emotional part that just really hit your heart. I won't give away what the son did, but it was heartbreaking. But Jesse was that bright light at the end of the tunnel...I swear he was amazing! He carried this story.
The only thing I didn't get was the cover for this story. Should be different than it is, but maybe that's just me. I just don't think it fits.
Seriously I am still wowing this story. The right amount of romance, mystery, and the characterization...wow.
So to sum it up, my one word for this story...WOW.
I definitely recommend reading it and bearing through the angst. It's slightly dark. Well, to me it is. I guess I don't see it that dark because I've read darker stuff that had my heart pounding, this kept me riveted to know what would happen. Fantastic read that I may check out some of her other books. I DEFINITELY recommend it! A definite eye opener on a subject that does exist in this world. The ending is great...it does get better!
There's always that moment when you first sit down with a friend's book. That moment when you're afraid you'll wish you hadn't risked your friendship over a book, which your friend was kind enough to give you.
I shouldn't have worried. Darcia Helle's as awesome a writer as she is a person. Which is to say Enemies and Playmates was one of the most wickedly fun cat-and-mouse tales I've come across in a long time. Alex Covington is a phenomenally well-drawn jerk, his wife Kara is a tragedy, son Stephen is an even bigger heartbreaker who colors the whole book. And then there's daughter Lauren, our heroine.
She actually turns out to be a secondary character, as the heart of this story is Lauren's man, Jesse, and the way he goes up against Lauren's dad. This is where it's at for me, and not once was I let down. Jesse and Alex engage in some of the most delicious -- and dangerous -- play I've read in eons. Really, the romance between Jesse and Lauren is secondary, even though it is pivotal to the way in which Lauren's character grows and changes.
No, it's not perfect. Dialogue is stilted in spots, and the subplot with Lauren's friend stretches believeability -- but at the same time, it makes the important point that no matter how well you think you know someone, no matter how best your best friend is, surprises can (and do) lurk around every corner. For a woman like Lauren, it's a good reminder of what a louse her father is, why she needs to get away -- and the steps her father will take to make sure she can't.
I don't want to say too much. Go read it for yourself. Have some fun with it.
Enemies and Playmates. A definite West of Mars Recommended read.
"Enemies And Playmates" by Darcia Helle was a free Kindle ebook, and all things considered, I think it’s the only reason why I started reading it. I had no idea what the story was about or even what genre it was. That’s why, with no idea of what to expect, I began the story of Lauren and her family.
During the entire book, I had mixed feelings. The story had the potential to be a good mystery/thriller but I feel like the author missed out on the chance to let the book reach its full potential. Every now and then, the reactions of the characters felt unnatural, or lacked depth. Certain parts and scenes that seemed to be rather important for the story were only mentioned briefly before they got brushed off without expanding or exploration of all the different possibilities.
By the time I almost finished the story, I lost interest in it. It has been on my currently-reading shelf for over a month now and I just haven’t felt the need to continue it. I don’t like it when I don’t get to finish a story because I’m afraid I’ll miss out on something big. But, for some reason I just can’t get myself to continue with the last 2-3 chapters – at least, not now. I hope that in the future I’ll be able to pick up where I left off, because I feel like the story holds an important message and is about a topic that shouldn’t be ignored.
In a recent interview I was asked to note my three favorite authors. I named Nelson DeMille, Robert Crais, and Darcia Helle. After reading Enemies and Playmates, I may have to change the order of those selections.
This is a classic tale of good versus evil. Ms. Helle does a masterful job of crafting characters that the reader truly cares about early on in the plot. The protagonist, Lauren, is a 22 year old woman who has grown up in a household with an abusive father, Alex, who is a lawyer with powerful connections. The description of how Alex made life torturous for his family evokes strong emotions.
Lauren discovers true love early in the story. Unfortunately, her boyfriend's ethics clash with Alex's amoral approach to life, and he forbids Lauren from pursuing the relationship. As the stakes rise we experience Lauren's fear of crossing the man who has totally controlled her life, and her need to carve out her own identity.
Beyond the relationship issues, there is no shortage of action scenes to get your blood pumping at an accelerated pace. I highly recommend Enemies and Playmates to thriller fans who love to root for good to triumph over evil.
As others have mentioned, this book deals with very dark subject matter. Alex Covington is a man obsessed with power. He is violent, sadistic and controlling, in business as well as in play. His daughter Lauren is desperate to get out from under his thumb, but even she has no idea the lengths to which her father will go to keep her boyfriend, private investigator Jesse Ryder, from helping her.
This book is completely unlike anything I usually read. I don't consider this to be romance, although it does have some romantic angles to it. Rather, I put it in the same category as Pelican Brief or even Silence of the Lambs if you turn up the sexual tension between Hannibal and Starling. And perhaps the darkness is on par with the latter of these comparisons. The abuse described in this story is stark and in your face, and yet I just kept turning the page. Darcie Helle took me way out of my comfort zone, but I don't regret taking the trip with her. The only reason this book got 4 stars instead of 5 was because of all the formatting problems throughout the book.
I am happily surprised with how much I enjoyed this book and how I ripped through it once I got started. Initially, I hesitated to pick this one up because I'd seen it billed as a suspense or detective story mixed with romance. When I hear "romance" I think of the classic cliches of the genre and this usually doesn't appeal to me. However, with "Enemies and Playmates", Helle has engineered a world bereft of the usual cliches and instead crafted it with all the pacing and movement of the best novels in these genres. I won't ruin it for anyone by spilling plot details but I will recommend this book for readers who like to have their heart rate tested. And if you like fiction that also draws you into truly caring about characters as they navigate through their struggles, then you'll enjoy this one. A fine balancing act!
To start I would like to say I'm very pleasantly surprised, but that is maybe an unfair phrase. I chose this book for two reasons: one, it was a free selection on amazon for my kindle. two, i was under the impression that it was an erotic novel. that being said my first impression was disappointment that it was not in fact erotica. Once the realization hit me that I was reading a suspense/romance I truely began to enjoy the story line and characters. The romance was quiet and overshadowed by the mystery aspect but balanced nicely. the characters were well developed if a bit predictable but made for easy reading. This author will definitly see more of me.
Where to begin.... It was an ok book, even better considering it was free. Don't be fooled by the cover it is not a steamy sexy romance.
Positives: It was free It held my attention It had a good premise
Negatives: I could not connect with these characters. Most of the time they were acting like no one was in danger "what my dad just put out a hit on a bunch of people while he beat the crap out of my mom then knocked up my best friend and wants to savagely murder my boyfriend?? Ok, in that case lets get ice cream oh and pancakes, I love pancakes!" Maybe that wasn't the wording, but pretty darn close.
Overall as a freebie, it wasn't bad.

This book was AMAZING!! I got it for free on Amazon and what a surprise!!
Please don't think that you are getting erotica based on the cover and the title. It is not erotica. This is a suspenseful story with that deals with domestic violence and has a bit of romance as well.
I was instantly swept into the story and could not put the book down. Read it in one sitting.
Loved Lauren and Jesse (man did I LOVE Jesse!!). And I HATED Alex. HATED. Alex. I wanted to give him a taste of his own medicine.
It was intense and emotional and I loved every second of it.
When an abused person decides to fight back against their abuser . The abuser,s world just might change. The Covington family maintains a facade that all is well, even though its not. When Laura Covington falls in love With Jesse Ryder who had once worked for Lauren,s father but defied him . everything changes. Alex Covington has gone on a destructive pursuit of Jesse . He wishes him harm. Can Lauren save the man she loves.
This e book was a great value. $2.99 for a 312 page story. I would say this was more thriller/suspense than romance.
I did enjoy it but felt the characters were a bit under developed. This may come from the fact that the romance was very secondary to the villianus plot. Alex was a horrid man but I'm not sure I cared enough or hated him enough.
I'll admit that suspense is not my favorite book genre. With that said, this book seemed undeveloped. The father in the family is an all around scum bag lawyer who doesn't stop at anything to succeed including tampering with evidence, killing people, having affairs, beating the crap out of his family, etc. Still, the characters weren't well developed and I didn't have a clear understanding about what motivated any of the characters.
Another book I have no desire to read, ever. Just the cover is enough to convince me that that book is not for me. However, I still own a copy. Taking up valuable bytes on my harddisk.
A friend of Louise's read and liked it, so, finding out it was an Amazon free download, I was instructed to download a copy. Of course, now, she has no recollection of these events whatsoever, and claims no desire to read it either...
You HAVE to read this book........ Its been a while since a book has gripped me like this did. Needed to read it every spare second i had...... there were a few points in this book that had me oohhing and guessing all the way through. I shall be recomending it to my friends :)
