USA Today bestselling author Sofie Darling’s passion for historical romance began in middle school the moment she cracked open Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. An instant and enduring love affair was born.
Sofie spent much of her twenties raising two boys and reading every romance she could get her hands on. Once she realized she simply must write the books she loved, she finished her English degree and set pencil to paper. (Ticonderoga #2 is her quill of choice.)
When she’s not writing heroes who make her swoon, Sofie enjoys a nice weekend hike, a visit to a crumbling medieval castle whenever she gets the chance, and a slightly codependent relationship with her beagle, Bosco.

Masquerading as a boy in order to spend a term at Eton, Lady Delilah Windermere will never forgive His Grace Sebastian Crewe, Duke of Ravensworth, for revealing her identity, and ruining her one chance of performing on the stage. After riding out the scandal, she's still angry, but now that she is the last Windermere unmarried, she jumps at the chance to spend the summer with a acting troupe, when her family believe her to be in Switzerland. So it's just her luck when that very duke happens to see her perform in a small village, and declares he will follow her, or reveal her identity. Sebastian has always been drawn to Delilah, his friend's sister, but never revealed why he shouted her name all those years ago. When he wanted to keep her safe then, he wants the same now. Pretending to be Seb, and working as a carpenter for the troupe, he and Lilah see the countryside, and each other in a new light, and the feelings both have controlled are now becoming a little too hot to handle.
I've been waiting for this book from the moment I learnt about Seb and Lilah's animosity. It was clear in the previous books that the pair were made for each other, and set for an epic romance. And my god, was Lady Delilah Dares a Duke epic! I adored that most of the book was spent on tour across the country, with both shrugging off their titles, and being able to be 'Lilah and Seb' rather than Lady Delilah and His Grace, the Duke. Because of the lack of propriety and rules, they could get to know each other properly, and talk about their likes and dislikes, and what happened at Eton and why. Their romance was full of ups and downs, but Seb was so gone for Lilah, it was wonderful to see. The drama towards the end was a little expected, but the reunion more than made up for it, and Seb proved he was the one for Lilah! A great ending to the series, and the epilogue nicely tied it all together.
This was such a cute and lovely ending to this great series!
In this book it's time for Delilah to go and give it all to her passion, running away with a theatre company pretending to be just an actress and not a Lady. Her nemesis finds her and follows her, only it turns out he is not so much her enemy but her protector and her heart's desire.
Their story is peppered with lovely moments and hot, hot scenes. It's their becoming and maturing into a couple who celebrates each other's freedom and passion for the arts.
The ending was cute and lovely, giving a bit of space to all of the Windermeres, now happy, true to themselves and very much in love. So charming 💗
A true delight! Delilah has always been the most daring Windermere. As her siblings & cousin have all married off, it leaves her somewhat alone and afloat. So, what does a daring Windermere do but embark on a secret adventure. She doesn’t expect to be found by her nemesis, the Duke of Ravensworth. Even less likely, that he would join a group of travelling artists in the ruse of a carpenter simply to watch over her. The tensions between these two have always been palpable, so it is little surprise when those tensions shift into something more. The twists and turns of their affections create a delightful story that draws the reader in. Despite his arrogance, Sebastian is unlike many Dukes in that he sees people of all class and isn’t afraid to support or work alongside those of lesser birth. The fact that he has been in love with Delilah forever becomes quite clear in his support of the arts. But what sets him apart is his willingness to let Delilah come to him, not simply demanding but trusting her heart will lead her to him. That scene melted my heart. A Windermere is forever in charge of their own life, even a woman. Seeing all the family together in the end with their respective spouses made the journey full circle and proved a beautiful end to the Windermere saga.
I'm really surprised by how much I liked this one! So much of historical romance feels the same, and normally, I'm fine with that. When I pick one up, I just want something comforting and easy to read. This was that and so much more.
I loved the theater aspects in this one. I loved that Seb accepted Lilah's passion instead of denouncing her as unladylike. I love that Lilah pursued her passion instead of letting other people dictate her life. I never would've guessed I wanted theater in a historical romance, but now I know it's something I love.
I also really loved Lilah and Seb together. Their chemistry practically jumped off the page. It was so refreshing to see a noble couple meet in a manner other than the norm. And I loved how theater allowed them to be unrestrained and really say what they meant.
If you've ever considered this one, I'd definitely recommend reading it! It was a super fun read!

As a magical summer unfolds, Sebastian and Delilah see their country—and each other—with new eyes. This is the fourth book in the series & the one I’ve been waiting for as the animosity between Seb & Lilah has been building. I loved them both, he's the serious Duke who's a true patron of the Arts & she’s a free spirit who wants to tread the boards. They’ve been at odds ever since she masqueraded as a boy at Eton & he put paid to it. I found myself engrossed in their relationship & how it changed & developed. I loved the epilogue , which rounded the series off beautifully My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Get yourself a Duke that drops all things luxary in order to be with you in the name of your safety. *swoons*
This was overall a really cute story. In the last few books, we could feel the tension between Delilah and the Duke, so I was really excited to read this one. We finally get to know what happened to Delilah all those years ago when her hatred for the Duke of Ravensworth began. Delilah misunderstood the Duke's actions and the conversation unfolding all of this was a great scene. Their little summer adventure away from the ton was also so lovely. The rest of the Windermeres and their spouses show up in this last book, and it was just the perfect ending to a wonderful series! Though each of these books can be read as a stand alone, I recommend reading them all for the full effect!
Lady Delilah Windermere has a free soul, she loved everything about the stage and performing and had an immense dislike for Sebastian, the Duke of Ravensworth!
Everyone thought she had gone to Switzerland for the Summer but the truth was she was performing on stage with a travelling troupe of actors. Once Sebastian came across her on stage he was determined to stay with her and protect her.
As the troupe travel around the country both Seb and Lilah become close, although Lilah is trying her very best to resist him, the passion just sizzles whenever they are together and she comes to see him as a man and not the Duke and for the first time cannot seem to keep her hands or thoughts from him.
Starting a mad passionate, steamy relationship with him while travelling the country was one of the best times for the both of them but Seb wanted her for his wife and not just a dalliance.
I do love all the Windermere ladies and it was great to see them with their husbands making an appearance within Delilah and Sebastian’s love story which had a fun element and lots of steamy episodes.
If you love to read steamy books about sexy Dukes not afraid to go after what they want, this is a read for you!

Flowers, Masquerade Ball, Actors, a Story Not to Miss: My goodness this author writes an exciting prologue. It certainly had my heart racing, and the story doesn't slowdown. Delilah is sure she hates Sebastian and will forever, yet they both have that tiny feeling that they can't quite explain. We will follow both of these strong characters Delilah and the duke, through many challenging situations, sizzling desire and passion that has the pages blistering, along with many heartfelt conversations and confessions. My heart sang at the excellent surprise that appears close to the end. A fun story to read with lots of searing heat and we get to have a little reunion with some of the previous Windermere's at the end. Book 4 of the Windermere series but this story can be a standalone read. Mature Advisory: I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy for my honest opinion. 5 Star Cover
Well done to the writer. I was impressed with how the writer was able to keep me engaged with the book through the story of Delilah. Her mission of just wanting to be something that the elite society shunned at was heart felt. Then with Seb’s story of wanting to keep the arts alive through charities and donations from the elite was a slap back to the elite in their face. I would ask that the writer could extend on the scenes though. To me they seemed to be rushed in certain scenes. It was ok they are in bed and then next they’re dressing and on to the rest of the story. The romance between Seb and Delilah was seductive and very steamy. Talk about some let’s get it on! I liked it a lot.
Sebastian Crewe, Duke of Ravensworth, is the most romantic duke that's turned up in a romance book. The man may seem cold, but he's anything but. Delilah only sees him as interfering with her passion to act on stage, until he spends the summer working as a laborer with the Albion Players. As she learns about the man, Seb gives her the freedom to choose. How can she resist the lure of his body and his heart? The heat between these two burn up the pages! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Delilah is angry with Sebastian because when three years ago she was acting as a boy of thirteen and was performing at the stage of Etton he revealed her identity . Now she is performing with a troupe of actors for the summer he is determined to follow her so he is making sure she is safe . He is working as a carpenter with the troupe . As they spent days together he finally reveals to her why he expose her and it was for her own safety . What Delilah choose he love for Seb or for acting ? I received this book from netgalley and the publicer as an ARC . Thank you . All thoughts and opinions are my own .
When Seb finds his best friend’s wild sister Lilah acting on stage again, he decides to join the troupe and travel around with her. He tells himself it is to protect her, but in reality he can not stay away from her. He realizes that he must wait for her to come to him if he ever wants something more permanent. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for my honest review.
I really enjoyed Seb and Delilah’s story. It was a nice twist on enemies to lovers. I loved that Sebastian encouraged Delilah to be herself. All in all a sweet love story with a hefty dose of steam.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher through NetGalley and am voluntarily providing a review.
Lilah and Seb, also known as Lady Delilah and Sebastian, Duke of Ravensworth, have quite the history, and not in a good way. So when Sebastian finds Lady Delilah trading the boards again, he demands she leave immediately. No one denies a Duke. Except maybe a Windermere.
Quite the love story - and a spicy one too! The passion and loyalty between the two is fun to watch develop.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher. The thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Windermere Family has been such a wonderful series and I loved getting to know each one of the quirky siblings and their love match of spouses. They are part of society, and the Ton is accepting of them, but they always say, "those Windermere's march to a beat of a different drummer".
Lady Delilah Windermere aka Lilah, the actress, is probably the wildest of all but she really just wants to be able to live her dreams. Three years ago, her brother's best friend, Ravensworth stole her chance to tread the boards and ruined her chance by outing her right on stage as Lady Delilah and since then he has been her enemy. Now she has another chance, she is older and wiser, told her family she was going to Switzerland for the Summer but instead will be joining a travelling acting troupe.
It can't be Lady Delilah on that stage, thought Sebastian Crewe, Duke of Ravensworth aka Seb, the carpenter. After the performance, he finds her and demands she return home to her family and naturally, Delilah refuses. His Grace informs her that he will be travelling with her for protection or so he says but there is more to his desire that protection. He had already dressed down to watch the performance that evening, so he went to the man in charge of hiring and was hired as a carpenter.
The wonderful blossoming of romance, passion, love, and getting to know the person they real: Lilah, the actress, opposed to Lady Delilah and Seb, the carpenter, opposed to the Duke of Ravensworth was an exciting, page turning read. The entire series was well-written, with wonderful stories to support the expertly created characters that had substance and detail that made me feel like I was there in the book with them. I voluntarily read & reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts & opinions are my own.
Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this story and this is my freely given opinion.
This is book 4 of the Windemeres in Love series and the story of Delilah Windemere and Sebastian Crewe, the Duke of Ravensworth. They have had a brooding, seething animosity through the first three books and we finally find out their story and history here.
For years Delilah blamed Ravensworth for ruining an opportunity and exposing her disguise as a student at Eton, in a quite public way, and she seemed to despise him henceforth. Ravensworth is good friends with Archie, Delilah's brother, and is frequently in their social sphere. He is wealthy, influential, and keeps a cool, detached demeanor, being used to being pursued for his title and influence. He uses his time and influence to raise funds for the arts. One night, he overhears one of the maids talking about a travelling troupe in the nearby town and decides to slum it in disguise to enjoy the entertainment. He is stunned when he recognizes one of the actresses as Lady Delilah.
Delilah, after the marriage of her closest friend and cousin, Juliet, to Rory MacBeth, was at a bit of a loss, being the one single Windemere left. She decides this is an opportunity to run off and spread her artistic wings, and while her family thinks she is on a visit with friends in Switzerland, she runs off to join a travelling acting troupe.
Ravensworth cannot leave her, his best friends younger sister, alone with the troupe, and joins it in the guise of a handyman/carpenter to keep an eye on her. During their weeks together working as actor and behind the scenes grunt, they learn more about each other, including dispelling previous misperceptions and learning to appreciate each other. Also, this is time and space away from their families and Society, so they have the freedom and opportunity to explore their attraction to each other - and Sofie Darling does some lovely steamy sex scenes in this series.
Have been watching Delilah seethe at him, and Sebastian watch her from afar while being the target of her ire through the other three books it was satisfying to get their story finally and this was fun to read and to get a summary of their family relationships too. The ending was an interesting epilogue of the entire Windemere family, and it was a bit of an unexpected outsider view as well.
Fun, sexy read and I presume the end of the series?
Lady Delilah Dares a Duke by Sofie Darling is the latest in her Windemeres in Love series and features the youngest, Lady Delilah. Delilah has always been the most difficult to control in a family of people difficult to control. He had seen her several years earlier on a stage at his alma mater, Eton, and called her out at the top of his lungs just as she entered the stage. Unbeknownst to her he had heard some young toughs talking about calling her out and disrobing her right on stage. You see, Eton was for young gentlemen, not young ladies. She was beyond furious and hadn’t spoken to him for years. Sebastian Crewe, Duke of Ravenswork was now dressed down to watch a performance by a traveling company, a place he should not be, and who should be on the stage again, but Delilah. God, how he’d missed her. Instead of calling her out, he joined the crew. He looked the part and could protect her from the wings. When she discovered him, she was not happy.
They were both behaving in a manner opposite the way they had been born and raised. Actress’s reputations were little better than those of prostitutes. Ladies did not appear on stage. Gentlemen of the ton did not work with their hands. Yet these two did. No one in the company knew and no one in society knew. Seb discovered she didn’t need protection, the company loved her and took care of her. Delilah learned he wasn’t her enemy. It was a good plot, different than any I’ve read. They are both headstrong characters, which made it more interesting. I enjoyed this book.

This is the fourth book of the Windermeres in Love series and it is Delilah and Sebastian's story. We have seen them as enemies in the past, but this story sheds a new light on their relationship as they share a magical summer together, travelling the country. Delilah is just getting over the scandal caused three years ago when she was called out by Sebastian while masquerading as a boy for a chance to perform on stage. Now she has an opportunity to spend the summer with an acting troupe, while her family thinks her to be in Switzerland. When she is performing on stage in a small village, who should happen upon her but Sebastian himself. Seems she cannot escape him. He threatens to reveal her identity unless she allows him to follow her on her journey. She reluctantly agrees, and as they travel the country as simply Lilah and Seb, unhindered by their respective titles, they begin to really get to know one another and see each other in a new light and the feelings between them grow stronger and stronger. Their chemistry is undeniable and you could really feel the tension between them. The book was well-written and highly entertaining and enjoyable. It's the perfect end to what has been such a delightful series. While the book can certainly be read as a standalone, I would highly recommend reading them all and get the total Windermere experience! I received a complimentary copy from Dragonblade Publishing via Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
In a family known for their eccentricity, Lady Delilah fits right in. However, in a world where the rules of the ton apply, Delilah feels stifled, and the Duke of Ravensworth is the one man who has the ability to make her choke on her rage. Her brother's best friend, Sebastian has always been protective of Delilah, although she isn't aware of it, and has saved her from humiliation more than once. Taking the summer out to perform with a traveling troupe of actors, Delilah is horrified when Sebastian decided that the only way in which he can get close to Delilah is to also join the troupe as a carpenter. For the most part, Delilah manages to avoid Sebastian, until it becomes impossible and he moves in to stake his claim. This is a cute story and somewhat whimsical but the attraction between Sebastian and Delilah nevertheless sizzles. It is only when Delilah's identity is once again at risk that she runs, but Sebastian knows better than to go after her. Instead, he waits for her to make the next move. The story, fortunately, closes on a fun-filled note and the lovers find what they are looking for. I received a copy of this most enjoyable novel as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Why are all the most gorgeous, arrogant, kindest and sexiest heroes named Sebastian? It’s not fair for all the poor Johns or Pauls of this world! Jokes aside, I fell hopelessly in love with this book’s hero and the book itself. When I saw that Sofie Darling had an upcoming release, I HAD to pick it, because I loved the only previous book by her, a novella, I read. And my first impression of her writing skills has been more than confirmed! I started this book and couldn’t put it down and now I’m sorry I didn’t discover her earlier. Delilah is a gorgeous character as well, and all the Windermeres that I got to meet at the end of the book are quite impressive as well. I can’t wait to go back and read their stories! And then there’s the banter, the internal dialogues of the characters that made me smile and laugh quite a lot and the lovemaking scenes, that are so very, very hot! A truly perfect book! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Lady Delilah Dares A Duke is a fabulous historical romance by Sofie Darling. Ms. Darling once again captures readers' attention with this well-written book. The characters are fun to read and just plain lovable. Delilah has a passion, being on stage and acting. Her first performance disguised as a boy is ruined when Sebastian, Duke of Ravensworth, calls out her name. She has managed to avoid Sebastian, even if he is her brother's best friend for the next few years. Sebastian finds her acting again, this time with Ye Olde Albion Players, a traveling and joins the troupe as a crew member. Sebastian and Delilah's story is packed with drama, humor, smokin' hot sexy bits and a bit of suspense. I enjoyed every page of this book and look forward to reading more from Sofie Darling in the future. Lady Delilah Dares A Duke is book 4 of the Windermeres In Love Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliffhanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This whole Windermere series has been so fun. I have been waiting for Seb and Delilah's story since book one and it did not disappoint, Lady Delilah Windermere has told her family she is exploring Scotland when in reality she has joined an acting troupe to fulfill her dream of being on stage. She does not expect her nemesis, her brother's seemingly uptight friend, Sebastian, the Duke of Ravensworth, to stumble on her while performing. She expects him to join the troupe as a carpenter even less.
Seb and Delilah travel together and fall in love, though Delilah is still running a bit scared of committing to life as a grown-up. The love story here is sweet (but steamy!) and is relatively low-angst. It tells the real-feeling story of two people learning about themselves as they learn about and learn to love the other.
This can be read as a standalone, but I recommend the entire series. A solid 4 stars. Thank you to NetGalley and Dragonblade for an ARC of this book. The opinions herein are my own.
The Windermeres are certainly a special family. There eccentricities are what makes this so enjoyable and there storyline enchanting. As with the previous stories this one is just as captivating. Right from the start Sofie Darlings writing had a way of capturing you so you just can’t put it down. Lady Delilah Windermere and Sebastian the Duke of Ravensworth knew each other for years. He was her brother’s best friend. Only she was not close to Sebastian due to a misunderstanding. Delilah a strong willed rebel certainly marched to her own tune. Fighting everything along the way. With the siblings all married she needed to find her own path. Where would it lead her. ? Her love of theater? Find a man? Happiness ? Sebastian and Delilah were a couple that complimented each other, There story is Exciting, Emotional,, Loving, Passionate, A beautiful written and enjoyable addition to this series.Hard to pick a favorite amongst them.
I was able to read an advance copy of Lady Delilah Dares a Duke via NetGalley & I couldn’t wait to start reading. I suspected I’d love it, & I wasn’t disappointed. First off… The prologue. What a way to set the tone for the book. All that has been going on throughout the series & I hadn’t paid enough attention? Lots of speculation & animosity finally explained. I found myself perusing the previous books for mentions as soon as I finished this one. Like all of the author’s books, this is a well-written story with interesting characters. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in Lady Delilah & Lord Sebastian’s fun, steamy story. I found it refreshing that for much of the book they’re just Lilah & Seb in a setting far from society. With their interests so aligned, it seems almost fated that they find their way together. Loved the epilogue where everyone in the family is doing their thing. I’m not ready for the Windermere world to end!
Another enjoyable book by Sofie Darling. This book is about Delilah and Sebastian. A few years ago, Delilah feels Sebastian ruined her stage performance and has hated him since. Delilah has told her family she has gone to another country, but what she really has done is travel with an acting group. One day Sebastian sees her acting, and feels like he can not leave her in this group by herself. He decides to travel with them so he can protect her. While they are traveling, they get closer and become Lilah and Seb to each other, they have a passionate, romantic relationship which Sebastian does not really want to end, but he knows he can never force Delilah into anything. I believe this is the last book in this series and at the end of the book you see the characters from previous books, which is nice to run into them again. I received an ARC from NegGalley and I am leaving my honest opinion.
Lady Delilah Windermere and His Grace Sebastian Crewe, Duke of Ravensworth are at loggerheads. He is determined to protect her from her adventures whilst Delilah is determined to avoid going home. He ruined everything three years ago but this time, she won’t let him stop her from living her dreams. Yet when they meet again, they begin to see each other differently. Revelling in their freedom, they can’t resist indulging in a forbidden passion, but Seb realises that he has to convince her that marrying him, will not be the end of her freedom. Sebastian was such a delight to read about, particularly as he sees beyond the class system. His regard for Delilah is clear, yet it is his ability to convince her that he will support her whatever she poses. I loved seeing all the Windemere family together, to see what stage that were at. I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Lady Delilah and the Duke of Ravensworth! The final book in the Windermere's series. I have loved this series since the beginning. But right from the beginning, Delilah was my favorite Windermere. She had such effervescence. She always took center stage with her free spirit, determination, and intelligence. The Duke, Sebastian (Seb), was also one to command attention. You knew when they finally got together, it would be explosive. But first Delilah had to get past the unforgivable sin that Sebastian had committed. Another layer to the story finally revealed. I've waited for this book and it did not disappoint. The epilogue brought the whole family together, including the parents (who have been traveling thru all 4 books). All finding their passion and living happily ever after. 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I quite enjoyed this book! Highly, highly implausible but fun. Lady Delilah is an actor. After a stint impersonating a boy at Eton she is unmasked by Sebastian, Duke of Ravensworth - and has never forgiven him.
Three years later, Delilah is pretending to be in Switzerland on a hiking holiday... but is actually spending the summer in a travelling company of actors. Sebastian, a committed patron of the arts, takes a break from fundraising in high society to go to a village fete... where he sees a suspiciously familiar figure on the stage.
He decides to become "Seb the Carpenter" for the summer to keep an eye on Delilah, much to her annoyance (at first).
I really enjoyed this! Sebastian and Delilah are really sweet and it's a fun story.
Lady Delilah is the wildest Windermere yet. She's fiercely independent, and now most of her family are married she can gave an adventure.
Sebastian Crewe, Duke of Ravensworth is a patrón of the arts. He knows that a lot of the best art is made by people who high society wouldn't look twice at. He's made it his mission to help them.
An evening watching a group of travelling players will shake up his life.
This is a very amusing historical romance with fabulous characters. If you've read any of the previous books in the series you will have met them before. That doesn't mean you can't enjoy this one on its own . You can.
This story is packed with adventure and is a little steamy.
