After being worked to the bone at her office job, getting introduced to her longtime crush’s new girlfriend, and dealing with her family’s debt hanging over her head, Hari Shin's life seems to have hit rock bottom. Luckily, her friend Youngseo has a business proposal for her: go to an arranged date in her stead and Hari will receive a hefty compensation. Things grow complicated, however, when it turns out that the other party is Hari’s new CEO—and he's dead-set on marrying whoever shows up to the date!
✧ ೃ༄*ੈ✩ A workplace romance between the CEO of the company and the woman who works for him.
Once upon a time, I watched the K-drama with my mom and we were there every single week as the episoodes were coming out. We absolutely adored it and nowadays it's one of my favorite shows. I did know it was a webtoon/manhwa and I've always wanted to try and read it tbh. Then, I saw the news that Yen Press/Ize Press were releasing the PAPERBACK OF THIS!!! So yeah, I was double times excited.
Thank you to Yen Press for sending me a copy tho! They surprised me and I couldn't stop smiling when I received this in my package. It's such a pretty print copy and it's so thick wow. It has like maybe 12-15 chapters in that first volume so you get a lot of content for sure.
I adore this story and it's super hilarious and fun as well. It's one true romcom with all the letters of that word. It has romance and it has comedic moments that will make you laugh out loud. Plus the faces they made sometimes in certain scenes are sooo cute and funny - it definitely adds to the comedy side of the story.
If you didn't know, this manhwa is about Hari who helps out her best friend one day when she asks Hari to pretend to be her and go to this blind date. Hari goes and she meets handsome Teamu Kang who just so happens to be her company's new CEO. He doesn't recognize her tho! From that point on, the story really goes up and you'll have the best of time reading about all of their antics, dates, relationships, and so much more.
This volume really ends in a part where you want the next volume IMMEDIATELY. Well done Yen Press lmao.
This is the most chaotic story ever! haha. I'm really looking forward to checking out the next volume. Also, I heard that there is a k-drama of this so I'll definitely see if I can find that somewhere.
Ha-ri's best friend is sick of going on all these blind dates her father arranges for her, so one night, she sends Ha-ri in her stead. Little did Ha-ri know that when she agreed to stand in for her best friend, that she would end up on a date with a total hottie who just also happens to be the CEO of the company she works for.
Taemu is also tired of all the blind dates and vows to marry the woman who shows up on the next one, no matter what. Things get a little complicated when that woman turns out to be Ha-ri.
Chaos and drama and fake dating shenanigans ensue, adorable and steamy romance developing along the way.
I really adored this, things started out a bit bumpy, and I wasn't initially very into how Taemu kept trying to pressure Ha-ri into marriage, but I think after a while the manga really found its stride.
ngl i've read too many office romance manhwa lately that they're all blurring inside my head. this one's cute though. i ate up all the cliché i lived for every single one of them 😌🤟
Excuse me, how the heck was this Manhwa hidden from my sight for so long?
Art? Stellar! Dialogues? Hilarious! Storyline? Clichè yet super swoon-worthy!
Tae Mu Kang:- • A young CEO who's back in town after spending few years in the US. • A workaholic by passion. • Hates Fishing. • Subjected to numerous blind-dates. • Courtesy, a desperate grandpa who wants to marry his grandson off.
Ha-ri Shin:- • Works in Finance & Strategy Dept. • Loves food. All types of food, especially her family's fried chicken. • Burdened by a huge loan from her company. • In search of prospective sidelines to earn more. • Cue a bestfriend who wants to avoid going on the blind-date that was set-up by her father.
Mu Kang and Ha-ri meet, play an intense game of cat & mice, with poor Ha-ri trying to hide from her boss, who wanted to marry her just after one date.
All in all, Ha-ri and Tae Mu were so adorable that I lived & pined for each and every clichè-d second of this book.
Even the second couple's storyline didn't disappoint me which does not happen very often, especially for me.
I've read quite a few web comics, usually finding myself to be bored to tears with sub-par character development for the second leads, yet Secretary Cha and Ha-ri's friend had so much chemistry that they were giving a tough competition to Tae Mu and Hari for winning the leading couple cup. 🙊
I'm glad that I didn't let the reviews deter me from reading this, in fact, I read through all the chapters just within two days hehe..
Definitely going to re-read this again in the future :D
An office worker pretends to be her rich friend for a blind date that -- through one of the many forced coincidences that serve as the backbone of this series -- turns out to be with the new CEO of her company. Over-the-top lies and absurd misunderstandings abound.
But, hey, it's sort of cute in a dumb way and is about adults instead of teens.
If you do check it out, do not read the character summaries offered at the start of the book as they are loaded with spoilers for the story.
If you'd rather just watch the story, a TV series adaptation streams on Netflix. Both this Korean comic (which originally appeared on WebToon) and the show are adapted from a novel series by Haehwa. I haven't seen the show or read the original books.
This was talked up at a panel at ALA Annual 2023 in Chicago, so I immediately got it on my eReader and started to read it. LOVED. IT. Fun and I want more for sure. Slightly OTT, but in a fun way, with adult protagonists and no love in sight, yet, for the MCs, but the secondary characters are so cute with their love at first sight. I can’t wait to see the final HEA.
5, SO glad I bought the hype and got this book, stars.

This webtoon was so CUTE!!! Read if you want something with fluff and humor! Tropes: Office Romance, Sunshine x Grumpy, Miscommunication, Fake Dating
The art was so pretty and this was the epitome of clichés but it was fairly well-done. All characters please marry me (Kang Tae Mu and Cha Sung Hoon ESPECIALLY). The pacing was done in a great pace as well. This is definitely not for everyone but I loved it anyways!
This was a lot of fun. I'm not always a fan of mistaken identity tropes, but when the tropes are done with as much humor as this, I enjoy it. There's more humor here than romance so far, but that's perfectly fine with me. I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes. Also the romance between the side characters is adorable.
took me 4 episodes into the show to see the “based on a webtoon” part i’m dense 😭😭 anyways i’m obsessed with the drama we’ll see if i’m bored enough to read this one day
If you want a concoction of never-ending misunderstandings, miscommunication, plot conveniences, immature characters, manipulation and uneven power dynamics disguised as romantic gestures, juvenile dialogue, and a walking red flag of a love interest whose only redeeming quality is being eye candy, then this is the story for you
I LOVED the K-drama Business Proposal, so I wanted to check this out and somehow the manga is better than the show. It's so funny! And I love the art style in this, especially that of Mr. Kang, he is made swoonworthy 🤌🏻 Even though I already know the story, I can't get enough of this!
I also watched the kdrama and now that I found these I wanna buy them all and read them and after finishing this I wish I had all the other volumes. I love this so so much and am a total sucker for it.
My enjoyment for the whole series is actually 5 stars, but if I apply any kind of critical thinking I would give it 3 stars. Let's break it down.
THE GOOD: This. Is. So. Funny. I laughed out loud more often than not and I was addicted to finding out more. I spent hours reading this, I just had to read ONE MORE EPISODE (I read this on the Tapas app). It constantly put me in a warm, fuzzy mood. I giggled, I blushed, I spent hours smiling. The artwork is beaaaautiful. I thoroughly enjoy that the Best Friend also has a well developed love story that simmers throughout the whole thing. Who doesn't love a story about people being kind, considerate, and loving?
THE BAD: When he calls her "my woman." Yeesh. Thank god that only happens like three or four times out of 100 episodes. It heavily romanticises jealousy, like, "awww, you don't want any other man looking at me or talking to me in a way that seems too friendly? How lovely!" No. Stop it. Gross. Either he trusts you, or he doesn't. And finally, Teamu is very manipulative in the beginning. It's kind of more...intriguing? It didn't put me off, anyway. It is certainly not romantic behaviour, but it's also clear that this is intentional - just not quite for the reasons I wish.
OVERALL: Despite it's flaws - and it's obsession with marriage being the opitome/end goal of falling in love - this is a story about two people who are ultimately very, very good to each other once they overcome their hurdles. And it's funny. I had a GREAT time.
UPDATE: The live action adaption (available on Netflix) is bloody perfect. Like omg. It improves on all the things I didn't like in the manga, and has a better ending (imo). I just wish she had pink hair during the dates still XD
At first I use to love both stories of both couples, now Im starting to hate both of them. Let's start with the bosees Secretary and the girls best friend. They just constantly whine to each other and just create drama like the few stupid misunderstandings with them was just urghhhh. Whereas with the boss and the girl, it's like she hasn't a friggin clue what's going on and yet the boss is just forcing her against her will to marry him. Not to mention the grandfather getting involved like crikey bro!
The only great thing about the story is the stunning art like bro....look at this
It's such a shame for me that it turned out this way cause I effing hate dropping manga but it's just one of those times where I fall out of love from it unfortunately :/
