Mariana isn’t the kind of woman I ever expected to have a chance with. Not when I’m a rough enforcer, someone who shouldn’t be within ten feet of anyone as innocent as Mariana. But I can’t shake my need to have her, and when she looks at me with those big eyes, I can feel the heat behind them. She wants me just as badly.
So I take her, all of her, and I claim her body and soul for myself. She’s the only one who’s ever been able to tame my violent heart.
But we have a past full of shadows, and there’s one in particular we’ll have to face before we can start our new life together. Even so, I’ll never let Mariana slip through my fingers, no matter what.
MINK's Note: Capturing His Kitten originally appeared as a bonus story in the Hidden Love Anthology, but now you can enjoy it all by itself along with your kitty and your coffee.
I couldn't connect with them because it was like a filler story for this series. I'm sure they were mentioned in the other book i read as second characters, but i don't remember about them since the focus was on the other couple. It was also 1 year ago. xD I needed at least a few chapters of how they meet, how they get where they were in the opening chapter... they had sex in the first chapter, because well, we freaking missed how they got there. Unfortunately i didn't enjoy it. I felt left out
I really liked this short story. It was entertaining and enjoyable although I think that reading “Vetting His Kitten” helped a lot. The two books are interconnected so they share characters but they are each about a different couple. The characters were interesting and likable. There were a ton of feels in this story. I did a lot of laughing. Fenton really cracked me up as he came off as a joker. Mariana didn’t want to be involved in her father’s world which meant that Fenton was off limits since he was all about that life. She did want something from him and he was happy to give it to her. I loved their happily ever after. I recommend reading this book.
I love Mink and I enjoyed this super quick novella, but I think it would’ve been helpful to have a note in the beginning to direct ppl to read “vetting his kitten” first to refresh one’s memory of these two. The story would’ve made more sense. Or, to have a short prologue going over their beginning and backstory, because it feels like the story started in the middle for these two. Besides that little bit of annoyance, this was a fun read. Fenton is a typical Mink hero: violent, morally questionable with lots of pitch black shadows, aggressive, hard as steel but melts only for his soulmate.
And this heroine, Mariana, was a bit more hardened than Minks usual heroines. She was ok, but I didn’t care for her as much as for others. She was a bit too hard for me. I prefer a sweeter, softer heroine to temper the hero.
Safe. Hero’s past isn’t mentioned at all but he comes off as celibate. Heroine is a virgin and belongs only to her hero. No others, no cheating or sharing or abuse whatsoever. HEA with epilogue
Romance trope: mafia Series: His Kitten (there doesn't seem to be an official series name, but...) Length: 58 pages
Plot: Mariana is trying to figure out her place in Fenton's life, now that he's just killed (or almost killed - she's not sure) her father. Does he want her or just her father's mafia empire?
Commentary: Bonus story from the Hidden Lovecollection. As many reviewers have mentioned, it seems like the story starts in the middle of the action. If you haven't read the previous story (Vetting His Kitten), you'll be confused. I read the books out of order, so I was really confused about the action and characters. It wasn't difficult to figure out once I got through it all (and it was one of the shorter Mink books), but I would almost rather it have stayed in the collection (except for the fact that both couple from this book/Vetting his Kitten also appear in Guardian's Obsession).
it was ok. i agree with some of the other reviews that this book felt like it started in the middle or near the end so the charters where going through troubles and i didn't care because we knew nothing about them really. i think this is set with the same world as one of the other books but i think it would have been better to start the story earlier even if it did over lap one of the other book, they kept referencing things that happened but we dont see any of it so i think it make some moments lose all impact
i think this story just felt empty and rushed, we dont really know anything about the MC's and there relationship seems to change really quickly without really any reason apart from the plot says so. deffently should have started from a different place, we dont even get to see them meeting or any of the things thats just vaguely referenced between them.
"Capturing His Kitten" is the story of Mariana and Fenton.
The heroine is from a mafia family, resents it, and is rescued by the hero.. who is ironically also a part of that universe. We jump into their story without much preamble, and after some chitty chitty bang bang we reach its ending too.
Your going to want to read Vetting His Kitten (Grant and Amelia's story) before this one to get all the setup and background on these 2 main characters. This story jumps right into the 2 MC's story and gets to the steamy stuff right away. Because I had already read the 1st story I appreciate that MINK didn't retell all the setup/existing story again and just continued the story from where it left off in the last book in this world. I didn't need to play any catch up with the story line because I did read Vetting His Kitten but of the overall storyline doesn't matter and you only want the sexy times between these two characters then jump right in with this one. I enjoyed this story and like how MINK snuck in a new kitty for the main couple.
It was an OK read. I struggled with this one for some reason. Madeline is in love with Fenton, a crude violent mobster that is only loyal to his boss. She battles with her feelings because he is everything she hates about that life. She wants to leave it behind and start a new one far away but she wants one night with tge man that owns her heart. The last thing she expects is for Fento to want her for keeps.

My reviews always contain spoilers, I write them so I can remember the story.
The book picks up after Vetting His Kitten ends, with Fenton and Mariana at Grant’s house after rescuing Amelia from Vic, Mariana’s dad. He’s been stabbed by Fenton and is being held in the basement tied to a chair. Upstairs Mariana is waiting naked in bed for Fenton. The two have a very contentious relationship. Fenton fell immediately for Mariana when her dad presented her to Grant for marriage. Not understanding his feelings and trying to hide from them he is crude with her. Mariana has been a pawn for her dad he would present her to rivals and dangle her as a prize. She hates him and want to leave but can’t. She takes her chance for escape when Grant brings her to his house. She’s been attracted to Fenton from the moment she saw him but doesn’t see a future with him. But now that her dad is almost out of the picture she wants one time with Fenton before she disappears. Their sexy times are hot and she takes everything he gives her and asks for more. Fenton thinks they are a done deal, she does not. Especially when he tells her they will run her dad’s criminal holdings. She thinks he’s with her for that and feels sad. After more sexy times he leaves her to visit her dad in the basement, smack talk and Fenton lets him know Mariana is his now along with all his assets. Mariana also sneaks downstairs and confronts her dad. She gets her closure by killing him. Then she tries to escape but of course Fenton catches her and tells her he loves her, more sexy times, and more I love yous. Epilogue with the married and expecting triplets!. Mariana took her large family home and turned it into a halfway house for the girls her dad had working in his brothels. Once Fenton stopped being crude, recognized his feelings, and apologized he was sweet with Mariana. He called her his sun, because she lights up his dark world.

This novella brings us a glimpse of Mariana and Fenton from Vetting His Kitten. You should definitely read that first as this story starts right where that story leaves off. It had been awhile since I'd read Vetting so I had to go back and read again to remember what previously happened and who the characters were.
I enjoyed this continuation but it almost felt like an after thought. Neither character was fully developed in my opinion. We have just enough info to get through the story but there's no meat to it. We still don't know a ton about Fenton or his back story and again if you hadn't read Vetting first, it all feels rushed. More like an extended epilogue.
However it is Mink and I always love her writing. There's steam, there's action, and there's a cat lol.
I listened to this audiobook from the Read Me Romance podcast. This novella starts awkwardly as if it's the middle of the story. It was so confusing. Where are we? Who is this? What is happening? As the story progressed I was completely lost. I mean, I get what was happening as it was happening but the things they were saying held no significance for me. I didn't believe that they loved each other. I know it's a short story with insta love but we knew nothing about them! Please give me a little something to work with here. I think this is part of a series but on GoodReads this is marked as a standalone so even if I wanted to read the previous books in the series I couldn't because I don't know what they are.
This book is part of a series or something? I have no idea what book came before this one and therefore I had no idea what was going on for a lot of it. That's super-annoying. The chick on the cover is a brunette but the book is about a blonde. Details matter and this book stinks.
Very quick, feel as if you missed something as it starts as if you already know all about the characters and previous events. I realize this is a take off of another book, but if you hadn't read it you wouldn't know that. Not one of my favs of hers. I think the ones I do like are starting to be outweighed by the ones I don't care for.
This book picks up right after getting his kitten and can be SO confusing if you haven’t read it immediately before. I really liked the story, but the way it just jumps in without a hint of where the story started is tough. If you read them in order though, you’ll love it I think!
it was okay but i would've loved a bit more push and pull between them. i guess it was just a little short, and it reminded me a lot of other books - to the point where im still not sure i haven't read it before, somehow... but it was short and sweet, and worth the read.
While I enjoyed this book, I have to say it wasn’t one of my favorites. I don’t know why but I felt like I was missing something for most of the story. Like I came in in the middle of something. But still a good read and great characters.
Mariana has always wanted out of the mafia life she was born into. Her father uses her as a pawn, but it is Fenton that wants to claim her. Will she become Fenton's bride or will she run away as soon as she gets the chance?
Short and super sweet (and hot)! Considering it’s a mafia story, this is incredibly sweet! It’s all about instant, true love. And I absolutely adore it! And of course there’s a kitten involved! So good! And very steamy!
I love everything Mink writes, but I'm not really sure what happened with this one. I already read this same story about Mariana and Fenton titled as Hidden Love some time ago and really thought it was a new release.
It’s more like an extra epilogue to vetting his kitten, but with different characters that we’ve met. If you read it right after vetting his kitten you have more time to become connected to these characters also.
Loved Fenton right away, he didn’t know how to talk to women let alone be in a relationship. Mariana couldn’t read his mind, she thought Fenton was like all other men in their world.. But Fenton proved her wrong and they were able to rule together
The chemistry between these two were off the charts. I love the storyline and I really loved how it quickly it was a good ending. A great story and I loved it
