Dragons arrived on Earth nearly a year ago, decimating modern civilization.
Bailey Monzac discovered she was born to slay them the day they appeared. Though she has ruthlessly killed hundreds since then, she somehow fell in love with Aidan—a dragon shifter—along the way. Their relationship hasn’t been easy, and it’s about to be tested again.
Bailey finally got an opportunity to leave Oklahoma and return to her family’s ranch in Texas. The catch is that she and Aidan must join a war against the pure dragons controlling the territory there. They’ll be facing their largest and fiercest enemies yet with overwhelming forces against them. As they prepare for battle, more obstacles emerge that could ruin their plans. Aidan is with Bailey no matter what it takes, but it’s going to be a difficult journey to finally reunite with her family and hold onto the man she loves.
Susan Illene served in the US Army for eleven years and worked as a human resources specialist and an Arabic linguist. She served two deployments to Iraq, and after leaving the army, she studied history at the University of Oklahoma. She currently lives with her husband and two sons.
How amazing is it to be back with Bailey and Aidan?! I knew I missed this world, but I didn’t realize just how much until I dove into this new book. I love the complex and rich world that Susan Illene has created and all the nuances of the dragon clans.
I enjoyed watching Bailey grow and develop as a slayer and seeing her and Aidan tackle the tough problems in their path. I also loved getting reacquainted with Baileys friends and seeing how they had each grown in their own strengths as well.
There was of course some great action scenes also, and a few twists and turns I didn’t see coming! Overall I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to seeing where the next installment takes us!
So worth the wait to get the next chapter in Bailey and Aidan's story. Such an original blend of fantasy and post apocalyptic fiction, if this were to happen this is how it would go! Strange for such a made up world, but it feels so real. Bailey and Aidan have such a strong bond now, it's fun to see how that works in a setting that doesn't fit in with everyone else's plans for them. After a change in leadership amongst the dragons Bailey finds herself on edgy ground, and I love seeing how she deals with all of this. At the same time Aidan feels the weight of his responsibilities and does his best, putting both brains and raw power into giving his all. The new group of dragons that are far off neighbours have a very different dynamic and the social interplay makes for compelling reading. Fast paced, exciting, full of dragon battles and family intrigue, I love this series and hope that we get to see more soon.
A Five-star read that will capture your heart. This is number five in the Dragons Breath series and its best to read them in order as they take you on a journey with Bailey, as she comes to terms with the new world order, living with Dragons and all of the complications they bring. Watching her grow into her new skills and life has just warmed me to the core. Getting her back to Texas was so bittersweet, you know that she needs to see home, but also is it really home anymore? There are battles to be won, and wars to be fought, enemies will be slayed, but are some enemies really enemies? This one had me crying at the end, it’s a bittersweet end, but its left me wanting the next chapter so much. What will come next, and will Bailey finally get what she deserves.

What happened? Wtf was that ending? It made no sense, it was rushed and the characters were too detached and just going along with the story. I think all the "it's meant to be, that's how it has to happen" kinda ruins the story flow.
The low rating is strictly for the ending, which is a big cliffhanger, a shocking situation that the main characters just accept, with no major reaction. It feels like the separation is happening simply for the plot, to move the story along.
A great continuation of an entertaining story.. Just wish the volumes would be a little sooner. I doubt I be alive for the next volume as the author seems to get side tracked with other story adventures. I am sure other readers enjoy those also, just wish these authors would finish one before starting another. Oh well ! Thank you for this chapter; sorry but I doubt I'll be around for the rest! Great work though...
It's a fantastic read, as always. I loved this book in the series, and it had me tearing up at the end and very eager to purchase the next and final book, which I have right after closing this one. 😄
It's full of adventure, action, and a lot of plot twists. I love following all the characters throughout this series and watching each of them grow. I feel like I've connected with these characters, and I am already sad that I am on the last book and the end is in sight. 🥲
I really love this series. I love the relationship with Bailey and Aiden and how it has grown over time. Bailey's journey as she grows as a slayer, while having a relationshipwith the dragons keeps you on the edge of your seat. Lots of action and adventure. Can't wait for the next one.
Definitely read them all. They are five star all the way
Bailey and Aiden are committed to helping fight in the upcoming war between the shifter clan and the green dragons. If they win, Bailey can finally return home to the ranch. They are concerned about who the sorcerer is who might try to steal the orb but need to worry about that later.
Bailey and Aidan have done everything as a couple and individually to support the toriq and the human communities in Oklahoma and outside of Dallas through negotiation and fighting. Despite that there is still fear and uncertainty amongst dragons and the shifters. The end of this tale was just ridiculously played out and Nanoq deserves a boot to his butt!
Loved this series! The character and plot development were great! Loved each and every book, and they got better than the last. Can't wait for more in the series!!
