Do you love the game of Clue? 🕵🏼‍♂️

Does family game night not come frequently enough for you?? 🧩

This book contains 100 mysteries which can be solved using LOGIC, SKILL and the power of DEDUCTION, by G.T. Garber, the creator of the popular online daily mystery game called MURDLE.

STUDY the list of suspects, weapons and locations and read the clues carefully…then determine whodunnit with what weapon and where…(like in the board game!)

You can solve these on your own or join the Detective Club at Murdle.com to solve these with others!

They start out at the ELEMENTARY level, and gradually get harder, (Impossible??) and the first mystery is broken down for you, using a grid, so that you understand how to go about solving the others.

What a great stocking stuffer for the amateur detectives in your family!🕵🏼‍♂️🕵️‍♀️🕵🏾 🎅🤶🏻🧑🏻‍🎄

I know that this book will be keeping me busy for quite awhile, as it is one to savor and not rush through! It sounds like FUN, and I am looking forward to sharpening my skills!!

I definitely recommend a PHYSICAL COPY of this one.

This FIRST EDITION is now available! Enjoy!

Thank You to the Publisher for the gifted copy!

Out in paperback!

I didn't know about Murdle until I saw friends' reviews and really want to give it a try. I love word games and puzzles and the idea of cracking a case is a bonus for a mystery fan like myself.

Using logic and deduction to solve the mysteries, SUSPECTS, WEAPONS, and LOCATIONS are provided and also a grid notepad. Two characters Deductive Logico and Inspector Irratino will guide you through the process. Some clues are in codes and need to be decoded. It's very clever how information is presented. There are 100 scenarios ranging from "Elementary" to "Impossible" difficulty. What a fun and exciting concept!

I also found an online edition (https://murdle.com/) that is easier to play than on a tablet. Through my PC I can use a notepad on the same page without swiping back and forth. I'm happy to see that this is out as a paperback and probably the best way to play! This will make an awesome gift, getting this for a friend who will be traveling.

For Netgalley reviewers if you're stuck.

Thank you St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for my DRC.

For those armchair detectives, Murdle is an absolute must have. It’s a book that would make a great gift for Christmas or birthdays. I am definitely pre-ordering the book for myself as well as ordering both Volume I and Volume II (releases September 2023,) for my sister and brother-in-law as gifts for Christmas.

There are 100 different puzzles ranging from elementary to impossible. Though I did find that the elementary puzzles were still a bit challenging.

Rather than just offering a list of clues, the reader is also provided a method to solve the mysteries — a grid. Using the grid, the solver is able to eliminate or add suspects, weapons, and locations to logically resolve the puzzles. Additional hints as well as the solutions are provided in the back of the book.

The ebook format wasn’t the best for reading Murdle. Only because the layout isn’t conducive for using the grid and referencing the clues. I’m sure that the physical copy will resolve that issue.

Fans of the boardgame Clue will just love this book. I certainly did. Five outstanding stars.

I received a digital ARC from St. Martin’s Press through NetGalley. The review herein is completely my own and contains my honest thoughts and opinions.

Ok this is a lot of fun!

I've done a couple easy and a couple medium, and the mediums were so tricky I'm honestly scared to try the hard ones XD

The whole premise of this as a story is a bit weak - the 'story' parts are actually kinda pointless - but the puzzling is a lot of fun. I definitely bought into the gimmick of this being in paperback format as opposed to puzzles online. I'm a sucker for puzzles!

May add to this review later but so far I'm having a lot of fun testing my brain power. I imagine it might get a bit tired after a decent number of the same thing, but so far I'm enjoying it.

I am a big fan of logic puzzles and definitely not a beginner to these types of puzzles. So the fact that I found these a bit too easy compared to other ones I've done might just be a 'me' problem.

Things I didn't like: there's 4 levels of problems and once you get to the harder levels each puzzle spans 4 pages so you have to keep flicking a page back and forward when solving a puzzle and it was annoying .
Additionally none of the grids have the names or words but pictures and this just meant reading a clue then having to go and find what the picture is.

Lots of the added info was very often redundant , I don't know if anyone else read all the info provided, I didn't , I read each clue then went searching for that specific thing. I think less could have been more (especially if it condensed it into a 2 page spread for each puzzle. )

There were exhibits spread throughout the book that involved different puzzle solving which I liked BUT they're spread throughout the book so I spent time finding them and folding the page so I could find them easier again going forward. Having them at the beginning would have been better.

Also there's a contents page , which told you the page number of each degree of difficulty , great EXCEPT the pages aren't numbered ! So it's basically useless.

Overall this wasn't as good as I hoped it would be . It was more annoying than fun or puzzling for me honestly.

Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for gifting me an early copy of this book. Below is my honest review.

I love logic puzzles, and this book was a lot of fun. The mysteries are quick and somewhat challenging. My only gripe is that it's difficult to read this one in the ebook format. The solutions are at the end (without links set up to jump around), and they're one right after the other, so you can easily see the solution to the next one on accident.

Otherwise, it's a fun book full of great mini-mystery logic puzzles, just like the Murdle daily puzzle website.

I've been playing this game online every day and really enjoy the fun logic puzzles. I love that each logic puzzle is actually a mini murder mystery to solve and includes humor in the crime's backstory and in the clues and evidence. I found that the puzzles don't really work well in the ebook format. I was so excited to see a book was coming out with Murdle puzzles. I  received an e-book version and not everything was displayed as clearly as I'm sure it will be in the print version.

The book consists of 100 mystery puzzles of varying levels of difficulty- 25 Elementary, 25 Medium, 25 Hard boiled, and 25 "impossible". As in the online version, there is one hint for each mystery which is included at the back of the book. The hints are followed by the solution with the identity of the murderer, the weapon, the location and the motive when applicable for each puzzle. I enjoy solving these unique logic puzzles and look forward to when the print version of the book is released which will be easier to work with than the electronic version.

I received an advance copy of this ebook at no cost from NetGalley and St. Martin's Press, but my review is voluntary and unbiased.

I freaking love Murdle and this encapsulates all of the daily puzzle fun in book form. They also add some elements of story to the mix with Detective Logico's past. Plus the time trial for the Elementary section? BANANAS! I definitely want a physical copy so I can try out a speed-run and the "all in the mind" challenge. They also add fun elements like the Astrological Primer, decoder ring, and even an over-arching mystery. Plus hints and quick solutions in the back, where you have to actually seek them out. Looooooove.

Twenty-five whodunnits that kids — and their grownups — can attempt to solve. You’ll need scratch paper and a pencil. These aren’t Encyclopedia Brown-level mysteries; they’re pretty hard. Even so they’re really fun, and I’m super excited that the title says “Volume 1,” meaning there will be more! Great for exercising your brain!

In the interest of full disclosure, I received this book from NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press and St. Martin’s Griffin in exchange for an honest review.

Murdle: Volume 1 by G.T. Karber is touted as 100 Elementary to Impossible Mysteries to Solve Using Logic, Skill, and the Power of Deduction.

First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher St. Martin’s Press and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

My Synopsis and Opinions:
Basically, the book is a collection of logic puzzles, all dealing with mysteries/crimes.

With each case, you "join" Deductive Logico to investigate the crime and find out the the crime, perpetrator, location, etc...

Well, first....I will be buying a hard-copy of this book, because I LOVE logic problems.

That leads me to my first problem with this book.  You cannot work on these puzzles with an e-reader.   I did a few of them, but used my computer to read the puzzles, and had a pad of paper and a pen beside me to solve them.

Note that there are 4 sections to the book, with different degrees of difficulty ranging from "Elementary" to "Impossible".  Then there is a Hint section for each puzzle, and then finally a section with the Solutions.  These last two sections, of course, don't work too easily on an e-reader.

However, there are a lot of illustrations, charts, and maps, and interesting puzzles....so I will recommend this book (hard-copy only),  and I will check out the puzzles one-line!

A very charming, light-hearted collection of logic problems, loosely connected by brief bits of gently humourous narrative in the set-up/solutions. () The book's divided into four sections with the puzzles getting progressively more difficult from section to section, although even towards the end I wouldn't say that they're the most difficult logic problems I've ever worked through—none stumped me. They're calibrated to be the kind of thing you can do while lounging by the pool or while travelling. Recommended if you like this genre of puzzle, or if you've never done them but are curious.

I LOVE this book. There are so many different types of puzzles. It's broken out in sections by difficulty level and puzzle type.

Let me tell you, I'm not as clever as I thought I was🤣 (I'm making fun of myself but seriously...yikes me😅)

This is definitely going to be one of my favorite buys of the year and I'm a week into 2024.

Hands down one of my favourite books! I’m a huge fan of Cluedo boardgames and Murdle is just that, but on paper and with multiple levels and hidden clues and challenges for the reader (or deductive!)
I really enjoyed working my way through the puzzles and I feel I’ve become a really close friend of Deductive Logico (even though it’s a fictional character who isn’t real) and was rooting for him, and really trying to concentrate to solve each Murdle and help him on his journey.

I would recommend to all those who love thrillers, murder mysteries, and solving puzzles.

Currently working my way through Murdle Vol.2 and I love it just as much!

I received this on Friday and have spent the last 5 days or so working through the puzzles. I’ve finished a little over half so far. They do get progressively harder but are not impossible. There is a little bit of a storyline and you get some more of the story after checking the answer. I chose to work on the puzzles in batches only checking the answers after 6 or so puzzles so that I didn’t accidentally see the answer for the next Murdle. Because of this, I didn’t really follow the storyline but I don’t feel like it diminished my experience at all! Can’t wait for volumes 2 & 3!

Unexpectedly full of logic puzzles (which I like) but I was expecting a variety of puzzles to solve. The book has somewhat of a storyline, but none of the puzzles are dependent on any of the others. Unfortunately, the puzzles are extremely easy, even the “impossible” ones, making the book less than satisfactory. It is also extremely woke, with male and religious characters getting the brunt of the jokes. Puzzle books are for fun and not BS lectures on DEI. Very disappointing.

This was a whole lotta fun—for the most part. Each of the 100 puzzles helps the main character, Deductive Logico, solve a mystery, almost always a murder. The narrative around these puzzles builds a much larger story that is really cleverly done. I enjoyed getting to play detective!

The puzzles are divided into four difficulty levels, from elementary to impossible, and several of the last sort did seem truly impossible to me. My favorite was the third-hardest difficulty level. Oh, and watch out, puzzle 61 *does* have an error. (The errata can be found on the Murdle website.)

I was super impressed by how the recurring characters seemed to work as a cast to make this more than just a book of puzzles. And there is quite a bit of humor!

My biggest complaint is that some of the icons and descriptions—especially of the weapons—seem pretty inconsistent. In one point, a straw is labeled “heavy weight” and then later (correctly) labeled “light weight.” The icon for the dowsing rod changes after its first appearance. Sometimes the brick is “made of clay,” while other times it’s “made of brick.” Lol. I do think a lot of these descriptions are meant to be comical and ironic, but my attention to detail was getting overwhelmed by these little inconsistencies.

Two more volumes are set to come out in the next six months or so, and I do think I’ll try my hand at Murdle again!

Note: I do prefer the book version to the website! I think it’s much easier to review the suspect, location, and weapon information.

These murder mysteries are the best thing since the invention of the sliced bread.

At the start, there is a detailed explanation on how to Murdle and eliminate the suspects, the murder weapons, and so on.

There are four degrees of difficulty: elementary, occult medium, hard boiled, and impossible. Each level has 25 puzzles. If you’re truly stuck, then there is an option of a hint. At the end of the book, there are solutions.

I loved how each of the cases was linked to the next one, and how in the solutions part, you’d find out more about the suspects and Detective Logico.

I was enthralled by the elusive Dame Obsidian and the mystery of the ancient ruins… All beautifully explained as you get to the end of the book.

I loved this book so much that I ordered another one in the series and I know that I’ll be pre-ordering the third one.

This is perfect for all fans of Agatha Christie and sleuth board games, such as Cluedo.

This was such a charming, interactive story! It’s fine to do by yourself or with friends! Each case was both humorous and uniquely difficult to crack. The formula was fun and stimulated critical thinking. Furthermore the recurring characters, adorable relationships, and humorous comments after each section made it more than a book of puzzles—it made it an actual saga.

So much fun and I highly recommend for fans of puzzles such as Wordle, Connections, etc.

THIS WAS SO FUN OMG, it’s so well done. Each murder we solve is part of a bigger story for each “level” of the book. They get progressively more difficult but are also all really fun no matter the level. What a slay

I’m a huge fan of puzzles, but was not familiar with Murdle until this book. It was easy to figure out how to play though and I found the mysteries to be challenging and fun. I’m definitely a Murdle fan now!

The only issue I had was with the ebook formatting. It made it difficult to navigate, reference clues, and the pictures didn’t show up. I imagine this won’t be an issue for print copies though.
