⇏ღ☙Back to You❧ღ⇍ Hayoung and Jaehyun get into a disagreement that causes awkward tension between them. Hayoung goes on a trip with her friends in the hopes of solving their broken friendship. Jaehyun accompanies them with his older brother as the group takes a trip near the sea. As Jaehyun works up the courage to confess to Hayoung, he is constantly interrupted at every twist and turn. When Hayoung falls ill, Jaehyun stays by her side, comforting her before the day ends. A satisfying conclusion to Season 1 of Back to You!
"You were always the one who came to me. We were able to be friends. . . because of you. "Thank you for coming to me first, and for always being there for me." -Jaehyun The scene I've been waiting to happen has finally happened—just with the wrong guy. Back to You is a sweet romance with a pinch of fantasy (with the time travel aspect). I enjoyed watching Hayoung and Jaehyun fall in love and take things slowly rather than jumping to conclusions. Despite my eternal hope that Eunjae would be the one, Jaehyun and Hayoung had their sweet moments.
Honey B really writes this like a k-drama, with the anticipation of "will they finally?" building up piece by piece. Hayoung and Jaehyun were interrupted several times, which only made the wait for the confession scene to happen more exciting. I was sad to see Eunjae not present in the last couple of Season 1 episodes, but it was still enjoyable. If some are wondering why I have such an aversion to Jaehyun (I honestly don't mind him and think he is a kind and caring love interest), (That is when Season 2 comes in and everything goes downhill, but I'm going to rant about that in a later review.)
Jaehyun struggles with the overwhelming grief and trauma he experienced in childhood. Because of this, he feels a responsibility to make up for his mistakes by helping Jieun, but has learned to keep his distance when she disses Hayoung constantly. I loved seeing him be so loyal to Hayoung, as well as Hayoung sticking up for him. Hayoung is a likeable protagonist who stands up for herself as well as speaks for herself. Although she loves Jaehyun, she is never hesitant to tell him when she's uncomfortable or he's out of line.
Eunjae is always there for her, and I loved learning about his passion for art as well as his level-headed and calm mindset. The cast of characters is either extremely likeable or annoying or irritating. I'm excited to see where the story will go! I would love to see the fantasy aspect explored more. ✔️PLOT ✔️PLOT TWISTS ✔️CHARACTERS
3.5 stars. Decent story, although the very end was a little confusing as it gives us both endings, which partly weakens the main story. Review for the whole series.
