My reviews always contain spoilers, I write them so I can remember the story.

2.5/5 stars I didn’t like Logan (which was sad because Hope writes some pretty amazing heros.) and didn’t believe he loved Ella.

Logan is wounded in battle and is in a VA hospital stateside. His fiancé, Harper hasn’t come to see him in the month he has been recovering. She finally texted that she’s coming by when he is ready to be released. Logan realizes that she not who he thought she was and tells her the wedding is off and they are done. Harper not wasting a moment drives to his house and packs all her stuff and has some guy help her move out. Ella rents a room above Logan’s garage sees Harper and finds out Logan has been back for a month and is injured. She surprised that they aren’t together and that Harper is leaving him. She rushes to Logan and offers to help him once he’s released. She’s had a crush on him for a year but knows he could never be interested in a girl like her. But once they get home Logan gets a woody while watching her load the dishwasher and is glad he can still get an erection. (Seriously, you just broke up with your fiancé.) A few days later three of his friends come over and take him out. While he’s getting ready Ella tells one of the guys, Bryce his symptoms to watch for and gives him one of his pills in case he needs them. Logan thinks they are interested in one another and is not happy. At the bar Harper approaches him but he blows her off. All Logan’s friends don’t like Harper, they see the real woman and know she’s awful. At Logan’s the guys drop him off, he’s a little tipsy and he and Ella end up having sex. The next morning he heads off to therapy and Harper shows up. Bryce comes by to check on Logan and seeing the tension between Harper and Ella he takes her to breakfast where they talk about her love for Logan. When Logan arrives and finds Harper at his house and no Ella, he’s upset, Harper says Ella went on a date which pisses Logan off. When Bryce drops her off Logan tells her to get lost. A real winner this Logan. Of course Ella leaves and a few days later his friends bring Jeremy and Cole (from Wounded Hero and Scared Hero) to talk to him. There he tells Bryce he’s mad at him because he wants Ella and now Bryce is dating her. Bryce a good patient friend clears up the misunderstanding and our “hero” sees that he’s the one that messed everything up. He text Ella that he needs help and our self sacrificing heroine runs over to help him. He confesses his love and she puts up a token amount of resistance but caves and tells him she loves him too. She says let’s take things slow but epilogue has him proposing three months later. Of course she says yes.
I liked Ella, she was kind and genuine, I wish she would have made him work for her forgiveness. I didn’t like Logan, he was engaged then not and three days later sleeps with Ella. And a few days after that tells her he loves her What?!? What about the fiancé? Didn’t you love her at all? He’s not shown to have any feelings towards Ella for a year, I don’t even think he found her attractive until she comes to take care of him. I didn’t believe his love for her.

Wounded Hero and Scared Hero are much better books, Jeremy and Cole’s stories were both very well written, you could feel the emotions of all the characters, the heart break and the love.

I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.

Ella has been living above Logan’s garage for over a year now, it’s been the perfect haven for her even if she fell in love with her landlord the day she met him, but he has a picture perfect fiancée Harper whom no one could deny they look like the ideal couple, so no-one is more surprised than she when Harper announces that she and Logan are over and he was injured fighting for his country over a month ago and has been in hospital in the city all alone ever since. Watching Harper leave she knows she needs to go and see if Logan needs anything, learning that he can only be released with someone to keep watch over him she immediately volunteers. Staying with Logan it’s not long before she realises that she has lost her heart to him forever and he appears to feel the same after a night of passion, but when she wakes up alone and Harper arriving in the hope of winning him back she’s ready to admit defeat. Can Ella really give up on love and was she just in his bed because she was there?

Logan couldn’t believe how much he had lost in such a short space of time, severely injured in the line of duty and watching his best friend die sacrificing himself so that he would live, and his fiancée deserting him, after a month of nothingness he knows they have no future and tells her so when she finally graces him with her presence. Feeling more alone than ever before he is shocked when Ella his tenant arrives to check in him, and also move into his home to care for him. He’d never really noticed her before but suddenly she’s there with him, caring for him in a way that he’s never had before, he never expected to fall for her but she’s under his skin, in his heart especially after a night of passion. He wants nothing to do with Harper after she has shown her true colours and a misunderstanding with Ella leaves him believing she’s cut from the same cloth, pushing her away and kicking her out of his property he learns the truth. Can he win her back into his life or had he really gone so far that he has destroyed what they had and could if had?

This has been a fab multi author series so far, this may only be a short read but I was fully invested in the characters, would have liked it to be a little harder for Logan to win back Ella though. Loved it and definitely a recommended 4.3* read.

The couple: Logan and Ella

Romance trope: forced proximity
Series: Heart of a Wounded Hero
Length: 130 pages

Plot: Ella is a tenant in an apartment connected to Logan's home. She's had a little crush on Logan for a while- he's very good-looking and brave as well, after all. She finds out from his fiancee that he's back in the country and has been wounded. In fact, he's in the hospital recovering from his injuries and has been there for a month. This is the first time the fiancee has visited him and Ella is appalled. She drives to the hospital and takes over his care. Logan is starting to see the stubborn tenant in a new light. Maybe what he really needs was right in front of him the whole time.

Commentary: That scene where he kicked her out? Pretty brutal. I would have made him grovel a lot more given what he said and did. She forgave him awfully quickly. Better person than me.

Next book in the series: Blind to the Truth

Oh my glob!

This was such a sweet romance. A lot of it happened off page before the story started, but you don't miss it. Okay, I would have liked a little more of Logan resisting his attraction to Ella, but that's because I am greedy. I'm glad he had Ella in his life, but wish he would have been more...something to Harper. It just feels like he let's her off easy even when breaking up with her then believes her when he knows she lies. That's literally my only complaint. This was just so good!

Wonderful!! This was a nice quick, short read.

Logan meets Ella when she rents his apartment on top of his garage. Logan is injured from a bomb going off. His fiance, Harper hasn’t visited him in the hospital the month he’s been there. When she does come to visit him she thinks he’s disfigured but isn’t. Logan tells her the wedding is off and they are done. Ella gets a knock on her door Harper is there and wants her to look after Logan’s cat. Harper tells Ella Logan is in the hospital and she’s not sure when he’ll be home. Ella goes back inside to get her keys to head to the hospital. When she arrives Logan is shocked to see her, she tells him she just found out. She tells him she was just checking on him. The doctor comes in and tells him he can be discharged but someone needs to stay with him for a week. Ella tells the doctor and Logan she can do it. On the drive home he tells her he’ll be fine by himself, but she tells him she is going to stay with him. Logan goes to take a nap and Ella does some work. Ella checks out the kitchen and finds he doesn’t have much food. So she goes to her apartment and grab some food. She starts making dinner and she hears Logan scream so she head to his bedroom. She tells him to wake up and shakes his shoulders. Next she is flying across the room into the dresser. Logan wakes up and goes to her to make sure she’s alright. She tells him dinner is ready and goes to the kitchen. They eat spaghetti and they talk. When Ella starts to make a list for Logan, he goes to his box he brought in earlier. Logan discovers it was Ella who sent him all those care packages. She tells him she did, he asks her to tells him something about her. She asks him what he wants to know and he tell her everything. Ella tells him about her previous relationships. For the next two day, Ella tries to avoid growing feelings for him. The more time she spends with him the more she can’t help it. He gets a phone call but doesn’t answer it. His house phone rings and Ella answers it. The voice asks if Logan is around and then tells her they will be there in an hour. An hour goes by and there’s a knock on the door, so Ella answers. Three big man stand looking at her with smiles. Logan asks them what they are doing there, then introduces Ella to Tommy, Bryce and Jeremiah. She goes to the kitchen to give them privacy. Logan comes in and tells her the guys want to go out and asks her if she would like to go. She tells him to No to go and have a good time. After Logan goes to his bedroom to change she goes to talk to Bryce and gives him one of Logan’s pain pills and tells him about his headaches. They arrive at the bar and Logan talks about what he’s been doing. They ask him about Harper and he tells them he broke it off. Then they ask him about Ella. They find Harper at the bar and she tries to talk to Logan. Logan arrives back and home with the help of his friends. Ella tells him he shouldn’t of been drinking. He tells her he is fine, she helps him change. She looks at his scar from the bomb and she runs her fingers along it. He tells her he wants her and she tells him he’s drunk. Before she can say anymore his lips are on hers. He tells her he only thought of her all night. She tells hims he wants him too. He lays her on the bed and pleasures her then they get physical. She wakes the next morning sore but in a good way. She finds a note from Logan that Tommy took him to therapy. When she sits at the counter to get work done she hears a woman’s voice. She finds Harper entering and she asks where Logan is. Harper tells her she’ll wait for Logan. She tells Ella they seen each other at the bar last night and had a good time. Bryce comes over and wants to know what is going on. She tells him Harper is here to see Logan. Bryce offers to take Ella out for breakfast. They go to Sugar Glaze and grab a cinnamon roll and talk. He asks her how longs she been in love with Logan and she tells him since he rented her the apartment. She tells him he doesn’t know and she’s doesn’t want to tell him. At therapy Logan admits he didn’t have a nightmare last night. He talks about his night with Ella and what the future holds. Bryce takes Ella back to Logan’s house, she thanks him for breakfast and gives him a hug. Logan kicked Harper out again but tells him Ella went on a date. When Bryce comes back with Ella Logan peeks out the window and sees them hug. When she comes in he tells her she needs to get out. He tells her last night didn’t mean anything. He tells her to get out and she has one week to get out of his apartment. She grabs all her belongings and leaves. She goes back to her apartment and lays on her bed. Four days go by and Logans nightmare are getting worse he hasn’t left his home. There’s a knock on his door. Tommy, Bryce and two other men are there. They came to talk to Logan as the two other men have been through the same thing. They tell him the reason they are able to move on is because their friend lost his life for them. They tell him he has to fight, fight for what he wants what he deserves. Tommy tells him if he wants Harper don't let her walk away go get her. Logan tells him he doesn't want Harper. Bryce asked him what he wants, he tells him he wants Ella. Bryce asked him what the problem is, Logan tells him he's the problem. Bryce tells him he didn't go out with Ella but Logan tells him he saw him. Bryce tells him he had to get Ella out of there because Harper was giving her crap, they just grabbed a cinnamon roll. Bryce tells him Ella loves him. Ella gets a text message from Logan to help him. She races downstairs and across the driveway to his home. She asked him what the problem is, and he asked her to sit down so they can talk. He tells her he misses her and everything's been awful since she went away. He tells her it was the worst mistake he's ever made. He tells her he thought she went out with Bryce and when he saw her with him it killed him. She tells him it wasn't a date. He tells her he had a conversation about her with his therapist who asked him how he feels about her. He tells her he loves her and everything about her. She tells him it's too soon after he tells her if it was up to him he'd marry her. She tells him she wants to take it slow because she needs him to be sure but she's in love with him too. They walked to his bedroom and he tells her from this point forward she's his. She tells him he's all she needs exactly what she wants. Three months later, Walker offered him a job and he accepted. Logan asks Ella to marry him, she tells him yes she'll marry him.

Logan returns home broken after a tragic accident. Ella is a friend with a secret crush. This unrequited love story is a slow burn friends to lovers tale that will keep you glued to your device.

Logan has wounds and Ella has insecurities. What will it take to trust their growing feelings? And will they do it before it’s too late?

I’m a huge fan of the Whisky Run series and this is another great addition.

Well this is an HEA but Logan was just way too dramatic when it came to the ripple in their newly formed "relationship" and I did like most of the characters traits of Ella she was a little too weepy especially after being able to put on such a brave face in other instances. Just not sure they're the right match when it comes to a relationship.

I was having it with the story. It was a bit forced with the main couple. Very soon for our H to end a less than a year relationship/engagement were he was away most of the time and also knew our h before the fiance. It's a soft no from me!

The plot was a bit basic. Their relationship developed progressively which I liked it but the principal characters weren’t the best so I almost drop it.

I enjoyed much of this book. It’s short (130 Kindle pages in font size 4) and more like a lengthy short story than a full-length novel. This means that it oughtn’t to be written like a full-length novel, and yet it is. The short story is a different type of writing and trying to stuff novel content into a short format never works well. Unfortunately, that’s the problem here.

This story is about Logan, a returning veteran whose fiancée (Harper) hasn’t been to see him since he returned to the States, wounded and hospitalized a month before the story begins. Logan has a house, with an apartment above his garage, which he has let out to Ella who, thank goodness (!) isn’t a raving beauty. She’s a kind, good woman with a warm heart and generous spirit.

The story is predictable. The triangle of angst that ensues is expected. The story takes second place to the characters of Logan and Ella, who are well fleshed out. The reader experiences the two of them, not just as characters on a page, but as people with lives that intersect. Logan is experiencing depression, understandable considering his loss. Ella is experiencing self-doubt and feelings of unworthiness. Each sees in the other what they cannot see in themselves.

Because the book is short, the plot is light. Man comes home from war, finds his fiancée can’t face his wounded body, and another, better woman replaces her. That’s it. We don’t get to find out what Logan loved about Harper, enough to become engaged to her over the objections of his best friends. He’s got depth to him, so there had to be something good in her; she couldn’t have been just a “tag hag,” could she? Surely not. Logan is better than that. We don’t get the rationale behind Logan being finished with Harper, and then immediately finding himself drawn to another woman whom he knew previously, but never paid attention to. It’s easy enough to understand the physical draw between Logan and Ella, but the emotional depth that is a precursor to love? Nope. We don’t get it.

Characters other than Logan and Ella are two-dimensional and serve a precise purpose. Harper, the faithless fiancée, has no shades of gray. She’s brittle, beautiful, bad, and self-important. Logan’s friends are there to help him along, to realize that Ella just might be the real deal. They all move into the story, do what they need to do to move the story along, and then disappear.

What makes this book memorable is its two protagonists. Logan and Ella are well written. They are alive. They are people we’d like to know, to talk with, to share moments with. And that’s the work of a good writer. The other reason I like this book so much is because of its subject matter. We need more awareness of our veterans, and this book keeps us aware.

I rated this book 3.5 stars and rounded up. It’s quick and easy to read with main characters that grow in front of our eyes. Definitely a worthwhile read. I wholeheartedly support the subject matter, that of returning veterans who find it difficult to fit back into a society so different from their military life. We treat our returning heroes sometimes with interest, sometimes with indifference, and often we don’t think of them at all. These men and women fought for us and regardless of how we feel about the various wars and conflicts we’ve fought in, we owe our veterans a debt of gratitude…and much more. This series of books, “Heart of a Wounded Hero,” brings it to our attention. So, read this book and think hard about the men and women it represents.

N.B.: Semper Fi & America’s Fund is mentioned at the beginning and end of the book. It’s an amazing organization that does so much for veterans from all branches of the military. It has a four-star (out of four stars) rating on Charity Navigator and a 97% approval rating. I’m one of those 97%.

This book is part of the Heart of a Wounded Hero series and tells the story of Ella and Logan. Logan has returned from war injured, but suffering more from the loss of his best friend who saved his life by sacrificing his own! He has been in hospital recovering for a month, just an hour from home, but his fiancé Harper hasn’t even bothered to visit him, not even once. He is due to be released and allowed home, but when she turns up at last, he has had enough of her and tells her their engagement is over and to clear out. When Harper asks his tenant Ella, who rents an apartment over his garage, to look after his cat, Ella finds out about Logan and what has happened to him for the first time. She is shocked that Harper treated him in that way and makes her way to the hospital to see him. The man she has fancied since the day they met over a year ago! The doctor won’t release him unless there is someone in the house with him for the next week, so she volunteers to look out for him and move in, so he can go home.
He is Ella’s landlord and is way out of her league, with a fiancé like Harper, even if he broke up with her. He has no other family to help out, just a few friends in town that he doesn’t want around to see him wallowing in grief. He is supposed to continue with therapy and is still suffering pain and headaches from his injuries, His career is likely to be over and he sees no future. His heart has been damaged as well now and it will take a kind soul to set him on the path of recovery. Ella is just the angel he needs and he is happy to realise that everything works, something he thought had also been lost, but having a curvy woman like Ella around, has certainly awakened parts of him he thought no longer worked. Just having her around is helping reduce his nightmares and headaches. He has to reveal his attraction to her and things get steamy, with her already existing feelings for him now getting complicated. His relationship history with Harper has left some wounds and when similar issues come up with Ella, it throws his heart into turmoil, with him left thinking she is playing him. Only the help of friends and fellow servicemen who have gone through something similar, allows him to see what is really the truth and what his heart needs for his recovery. A lovely story of a wounded hero who finds the one special person who will care for him and loves him no matter what! His best friend made the ultimate sacrifice and saved Logan, and it would be a waste if he allowed his ex and his grief to stop him from living the best life he can, in memory of his friend. An instalove story for a wounded hero, who gets the love he deserves. I look forward to reading more of this series and finding out about more of the wounded heroes in the small town. *spoilers* Logan was saved from a bomb by his best friend Noah, while serving his country. He had a fiancé. but he learns that his best friend was right and although she is beautiful on the outside she does not have a beautiful heart. He has been back home in the hospital for a month, only one hour away from where he lives and she never visited, so when she comes he breaks up with her. When Ella, who rents the apartment above his garage learns what happens and sees his fiancé moving out, she immediately drives to visit him and promise the doctor to look after him for a week, so he finally can go home. Logan learns a lot about Ella and is attracted to her, she had feelings for him, since knowing him. Logan thinks he is too much of a mess to start anything with Ella and Ella believes she has no chance with a man like Logan. Will their heart find the way to each other?
The story made me cry, but in a good way. It really touched me. Ella is such a caring person, sending care packages for a year and never say anything. Hoe she stands by Logan's side, being empathic and helping him. And Logan really sees Ella as soon as he gets to knows her better and leaving his ex Harper. I also loved that it took place in Whiskey Run, which we know from the other stories of this amazing author and the other charcters who appeared gave the story more depth, also you surely can enjoy it without having read the previous ones, although they are definitely worse reading!!! I loved the job he got in the end :o).

Logan is a member of the military who was overseas. On a mission, there was explosion where Logan got very hurt but he was pushed to safety by a friend who died in the attempt. Logan has been back in the states for a month but he hasn't gotten a single visit from his fiancee. until the day he was supposed to leave. Logan didn't listen to any of her excuses and broke things up with her. Later, he gets another visitor, Ella. Ella rents the apartment over his garage and had just learned he was back in the states and in the hospital. When the doctor said Logan could be released if he had someone watch over him for a week, Ella volunteers. With Ella's tender care, Logan starts to develop feelings for her. He won't act on them because he feels unworthy.

Ella has been in love with Logan ever since she saw him a year ago but he had a fiancee. When she hears his fiancee moving out, she finds out that Logan was injured and in the hospital. She is horrified that his fiancee only visited him once in a month. Ella goes to visit him in the hospital and volunteers to take care of him at home. She loves taking care of Logan because she loves him. However she is afraid she might lose him if his fiancee comes back.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. Ella has been Logan's tenant for a while. She has crushed on him but knows she has no chance. Logan learns just where he stands with his girlfriend after almost losing his life while deployed. He also discovers who actually cares about his mental and physical healing. Ella might not have been on his radar before, but her kindness brings her front and center. She cannot imagine not caring for or helping such an amazing man. Their time together is going to show them both what their future could be like. There is some drama, heartache, pain and struggles but also friendship, patience, determination, passion and love. I really enjoyed their story and how things played out. The obstacles they face seem so much easier together. I Love how these authors are giving honor to our heroes. They serve us daily, giving up so much and many don't consciously think of it. If we had to do without our many self sacrificing warriors, everyone would notice their absence then. Thank you for this series.

Excellent Story . . .

Logan is in the hospital recuperating from a bomb explosion while he was deployed that caused the death of his best friend, Noah, who chose to give his life to push Logan out of the worst of it. Yet each day that Logan stares at the hospital ceiling, his fiancée Harper doesn’t call or visit, even when she is only living an hour away. So Logan has already decided the wedding is off because he no longer is anyone she cares about, if he ever was. His damaged arm is not pretty, but he is alive. And now he’s going home to finish recovering.

So he is very surprised when Ella, his tenant who lives over his garage, finds out he is here in the hospital, and she rushes to see him. She has always cared for him but he had Harper. According to the doctor, he still needs help when he gets home for at least a week, and she is happy to spend all the time he needs with him. She would like it to be forever. But Logan needs to get through some things first. He needs to re-establish trust so that he can believe her feelings are real. And if he can let her get close, can she begin to heal his heart?

I really enjoyed Logan and Ella's story. Logan has returned from serving in the military and has mentioned to his friend that his fiancé, Harper has yet to visit him. He has been in the hospital for nearly a month. He is also dealing with the death of a friend and the injuries to himself. He is also having doubts about the way Harper has not reached out to him and his buddy that didn't come back telling him that she is not good enough for him. Harper shows up the day he is to be released and Logan says they are through after she tries to explain how she can no deal with what has happened to him and doesn't seem to want to help him. Ella is a romance writer who rents the apartment above the garage at Logan's place. Harper asks her to take care of Mx, Logan's cat and that she is leaving. She also informs Ella that Logan has been back for a month and is coming home soon. This is news to Ella. She also finds out Harper has never visited Logan. Ella has a secret crush on Logan and doesn't think twice to go and see him. Ella ends up bringing Logan home and promises his doctor that she will look out for him. This is a wonderful story. Very entertaining. Logan slowly realizes Ella is the kind of woman he has been looking for all his life. He quickly falls in love with her. I loved the HEA of this story.

Logan's bestfriend, Noah had given his own life in the line of duty to save Logan, so he was now State side dealing with the mental, emotional, and physical damage from the blast. His fiance could not be bothered to visit him in the hospital even with him only a hour away. Elle his renter came as soon as she heard he was in the hospital as she knew he had no family. She had even been sending him packages overseas the whole time without him knowing it. She had a terrible crush on him since the day she moved in. When Logan got to leave the hospital Elle had to agree to stay with him for a week or the doctor would not discharge him. After, they got home Logan began to see Elle in a different light. A wonderful story of a young man returning home to pick up the pieces of his life, finding love, and support from his friends. A must read!.

This book was another winner for me from Hope Ford. I love her books so much, she knows just how much drama to put in a book to make it juicy. I actually read it twice.

Ella was an adorable heroine who was in love with her military landlord Logan. I loved the part where his friends were taking him out and she was instructing his giant friend how to take care of him and to put Logan’s pill in the giant friend’s pocket in case Logan needed it, it was cute how much she cared and she wasn’t afraid to tell his big pal what to do.

I really felt for Logan, he’s gone through a lot with losing his best friend, having his so-called fiancée not visit him in the hospital for a month (he breaks up with her when she finally does come) and surviving a bombing. After all that, he was hurting a lot but Ella helped through his healing.

I could read this book again and again, it was great.

Sacrifice by Hope Ford

This particular story was amazing. Like the other stories in this anthology, it is about a wounded warrior. Logan was injured in combat while his best friend died trying to save him! Poor Logan…and he has the WORST fiancé ever. Luckily, he realizes that while he is in the hospital and breaks up with her.
Ella is Logan’s tenant and lives in the apartment above his garage. Once she hears that Logan is in the hospital, she rushes to him. Promising the doctor that she will watch over Logan for a week, Logan is released from the hospital.
Ella has been in love with Logan since she met him, but he had a fiancé. She realizes that he is going through so much right now so she concentrates on helping Logan. They both start having feelings for each other but Logan’s ex starts causing problems for them.
Will they be able to survive that spiteful woman??.

Just What I Needed

Hope Ford is an author that is a go to for me. Every time without fail. She delivers, every time. I always fine myself so invested in both the characters.
I loved the characters in this book. Ella made her living as a romance blogger. Ummm, yes! Logan is in the military and just suffered a pain injury and lost to his best friend. Before leaving for the Middle East, Logan rents and apartment to Ella. Ella and Logan relationship develops even before the reader knows it. Then we watch it unfold kind of quickly.
I know many don't like the third act break up. But I am old school lover of romance and I love seeing it. Hope does some of the best ones because we see the potential of the couple. She has developed these layers between these two people that you are invested in.
Added bonus was the characters from her other military series. Love this connection of this brotherhood.

This book is a part of the Heart of a Wounded Hero series and focuses on Logan and Ella. Logan was injured and lost his best friend while on deployment and when he came home to recover he found out just who was there for him. While recovering from his injuries, his fiancée never bothered to show up so when she did, he ended things with her. When his tenant Ella finds out that he has been injured, she immediately goes to see him and is the one that ends up caring for him. Ella has had a crush on Logan for a while but since he was with someone else she knew that there was no chance for her. While helping him out, they fall for each other and things are going great until the past comes back and tries to ruin things. This was a really great story and a great addition to the series.

Heart of a Wounded Hero is a brand new multi-author series, and Hope Ford kicks it off with the awesome Sacrifice. Injured soldier Logan has been recovering in hospital stateside for a month and it isn't until he is about to be discharged that his fiancée makes an appearance. Logan instantly breaks things off. Ella, the beautiful young blogger who has been renting the apartment over his garage for the past year, quickly heads to the hospital when his ex informs her of his return. Needing someone to stay with him for the first week, Ella volunteers, and suddenly in close quarters, Logan cannot help the feelings that come to the surface.

A beautifully written, emotional yet sweet and steamy romance that is the perfect way to kick off this important new series!

This series Heart of a Wounded Hero is a great read. All the men in the series are alpha men who have sacrificed for duty and have come home wounded. This is Logan's story. Logan was engaged to Harper while he was overseas fighting but as soon as he was injured he and Harper break up. She can not handle a wounded soldier. For Logan after spending 30 days at the hospital at home he is finally allowed to go home but only if someone is there to watch over him. He continues to have nightmares and headaches and the dr. wants to make sure he is taken care of. In comes Elle, the woman who rents the apartment above his garage and has loved Logan ever since she met him. This is a really great book about a man who is coming to terms with himself and the sacrifice his best friend made so he could live. He and Elle are wonderful together, steamy and great chemistry. I loved this book.

Logan has been injured while being in the service. He is in a hospital stateside waiting for his fiancé to finally show up. However, after waiting so long when she does make an appearance, he ends things before she can. When Ella learns where he is as his ex-fiancé is leaving, she goes to the hospital to see him. Logan is stunned to see Ella but accepts her offer for help while plotting to just be alone once they get home. Ella refuses to leave him and soon Logan is looking at her differently. Can he see a future with Ella and put everything else in the past?

This is an amazing story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to a by book lover.

This is the perfect book to kickoff the new multi-author Heart of a Wounded Hero series featuring Logan and Ella's emotional engaging story. Logan is Ella's landlord he rented an apartment to her right before he left for his next deployment in the Middle East. Unfortunately he gets seriously hurt in an explosion while his best friend is killed and he's laying in the hospital all alone. When Ella finds out that he's been injured she drops everything and rushes to the hospital. While Logan struggles with his demons he realizes that he's seriously attracted to Ella which shouldn't be a problem since she's been attracted to him since she moved in but she thought that he had a fiance. You really need to read this emotional story to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book.

Life is filled with sacrifice and service...some you do for country others you do for love

Sacrifice by Hope Ford is part of the multi-author Heart of a Wounded Hero series. Each book I have read in this series so far I have really enjoyed and this book is the same. This story is an emotion filled brew with perfect blend of love, romance, trauma, service, healing, and some smoking hot and sexy passion. I really loved Ella and Logan, even as they find their way to a future together that neither would have thought possible. But when Logan is injured and in order to come home he needs someone with him it is Ella who steps up. She may only have rented the apartment above his garage but Ella is willing to put herself on the line to help Logan recover and heal. It may mean her heart gets broken before the end but I highly doubt it...and that is the fun of this story.

As a multi-author series, you get a wide variety of writing styles and stories. Some good and some not so good. This one is definitely in the first category! Of course, Hope is always pretty reliable when dishing up the romance. Sometimes I wonder why a few scars would be reason enough to turn away from someone you love, but then you get a woman like Harper who abandons her man when he needs her most. I love to hate b..ches like her. Well, good riddance to bad rubbish I say! Ella, on the other hand, was adorable and exactly what the doctor ordered when Logan needed someone to look after him at home. I love wounded military heroes and Logan certainly fit the bill, but it was his vulnerability that endeared him to me even more. There are some moments of drama triggered by Logan’s insecurity in his new relationship, but everything is resolved in the end to give a satisfying HEA.
