Women are being brutally murdered in Boulder, Colorado, their bodies stuffed into the trunks of their cars, and they all have one thing in common: they were meeting someone for a date that they met online. It’s clear a serial killer is at large, and FBI Agent Tara Mills is quickly on the case. But she soon learns that none of the women were meeting the same person, or so it seems, because none of the victims’ dates can be tracked down either.
As Tara digs deep into the world of online dating, and as more women turn up dead, she soon realizes that the killer’s web is larger than she ever imagined. With the killer always one step ahead, taking on a new identity and leaving no trail, Tara fears she has finally met her match.
Tara is pushed to her limits. But with the secrets of her past finally resolved, she hopes she can finally lay it to rest and focus wholeheartedly on the case. But when she learns that her biggest nightmare is yet to come, she fears that she has only made things worse for herself, for her fiancé, and for their future.

“The fire in her eyes dissipated as the words left her mouth, which curled in satisfaction. Her eyes were locked in front of her, a smile plastered on her face as if remembering her happiest moment.”
The familiarity of Warren + Mills has me in love with this series. I favor the first and second book in terms of storyline, however it is a quick and captivating read! Cannot wait to read the fifth & final book in the Tara Mills series!
I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
The story begins with Tara looking to buy a wedding dress. She is being helped by her future mother-in-law. After finding a dress she gets home and is with John, her future husband, when someone knocks at the door. When the door was opened, it was Tara's father, Richard, who she hadn't talked tp in quite awhile because of the death of her mother. Richard is very demanding and grabs her arm. John steps in and foorces Richard to leave. while going, he made a threat. Shortly after that incident, Tara receives a call from her boss and it is for a case in Colorado. Before Tara left, she contacted yhe chief-of-police in her town and told him about Richard. The chief said he would handl.
Warren and Tara arrive in Colo., and learned about a case concerning two women who have been killed and were found in the trunk of their car. The killer left no clear evidence so Tara and Warren were starting from square one. It was discovered that the killer was making contact through social media (Hooked) and handled everything by text. There was no meeting with that person until the day they were killed. Tara and Warren discovered the information by their phone. Later, another victim was discovered, but in this case she was alive. They got a description from this person and had a sketch made which was broadcast over TV. A tip was received and when they went to check it out, the suspect took off and Tara and Warren wound up chasing and capturing him. This individual was put in a lineup and the last victim identified him. Case closed, right? Not so fast, Tara had a gut feeling something was wrong and laid out her concern to Warren.
To learn what Tara's concern was, what discovery led them to the killer and who was doing the killing and why then you need to read the book. You will also learn more about what Richard did to perform his threat.
This story is a definite winner and contines the series excellence.
Started and finished this in one day! It’s always good to revisit familiar characters and Tara and Warren are some of my faves. While generally I enjoyed this one, the continuation of Tara’s backstory didn’t feel necessary and at times felt a bit rushed or forced to be included. I recognize that there is a final book to this series coming next year so I’m sure this will all be more relevant then.
I think some of the other books in the series have been stronger than this one but I still recommend giving this one a go, as I said, I absolutely flew through it. It’s well written and the story had a great flow, making me excited to see how everything would play out.
I really enjoy Sarah Sutton’s writing style and am looking forward to reading more from her in the future.
A suspenseful serial killer murder mystery. Fairly quick read. Tara and Warren are on the hunt for a serial killer who leaves no evidence at the crime scenes, leaving them frustrated with no leads. While dealing with this baffling case, Tara is also dealing with personal issues causing her great stress. Will she be able to set aside her personal problems to give her case her undivided attention? The killer will surprise you, I'm sure. Challenge you to discover who the killer is? Book needs a little editing, but I did read an ARC not a final draft, so corrections could have been made in the final draft. Love this series and looking forward to the next book which unfortunately concludes the series. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary honest review.
Sarah excels at writing action-packed thrillers that suck you in at the very beginning and leave you spellbound until the last word. For me, it is followed by expletives knowing I have to wait 6 months. If I had been Tara with her knowledge of recidivism, I would have realized he would cause her tragedy unless she got him into jail again. Great plot twists. Tara demonstrates vast emotional growth.
