Here are two more points of criticism about the manga series, The Savior's Book Café Story in Another World.

Too Kind Monarchy: The kingdom where the characters reside stands out for its understanding and benevolent monarch. However, this utopian portrayal feels unrealistic, especially in an isekai setting. A touch of complexity or conflict within the ruling system would add depth.

Rushed Pacing: It only has 26 chapters, and the story’s pacing feels hurried. While the ending is satisfying, some plot points could benefit from further exploration. A more balanced progression would make the journey more fulfilling.

Youta’s the new saviour in town and he’s got his sights set on a friendly young woman. Unfortunately, that’s Tsukina and she’s trying to let him down easily, but he’s young and dumb so that doesn’t really happen. When Youta doesn’t beware of anybody bearing gifts, will Tsukina’s power be enough to save the day?

This might be the best isekai I’m reading right now, even though it’s admittedly a mighty short list at the the best of times. It’s not hard to figure out why though - Tsukina is allowed to live her own best life and the story doesn’t judge it.

Tsukina clearly gets exhausted in social situations. She loves books as much as anything. When Il gets a little too possessive, she is quick to put the boots to that way of thinking. She’s such a, well, such an adult character that she’s a real breath of fresh air.

Minus Il being a bit too “macho posturing” at times, I chalk that up to his being a knight, frankly, the two of them are peas in a pod and I love the way their relationship forms around their shared interest rather than overwhelms it.

Then there’s Youta. Hoo boy. As predicted, he goes about his saviour work entirely the wrong way and his low self-esteem confined with the knowledge that he is super powerful proves to make him incredibly easy to manipulate, as is the way with the naive.

As a study in the road to hell being paved with good intentions, he gets the job done, and if the resolution to his mess relies a little too much on isekai tropes, it’s still a great opportunity for Tsukina to step up and show that she’s the real saviour around here.

This volume is pretty straightforward, but not in a bad way. It balances the problem at hand with some sweet moments for the romance angle and then leaves on yet another brutally effective cliffhanger that makes me glad I was wrong when I was saying that this didn’t need more than two volumes.

4 stars - do what you do well and I’ll be hard pressed to complain much.

"If you try to walk before you run just because you're a savior, something will probably go wrong. Start by focusing on what you value."

I AM SO RELIEVED ABOUT YOUTA!!! 😭😭😭😭😭

I was SO nervous that he would end up becoming this evil villain because he (obviously) can't be with Tsukina, but that wasn't the case at all, and feel so relieved that "sunshine boy" can keep smiling another day! 😭😭😭 Granted, that doesn't mean everything was GOOD this volume because he made some decisions, and while I get his whys, it doesn't mean it was good (and definitely didn't have good results). I will continue to wish and hope the best for him and that he can be the hero he's always wanted to be! 😭😭😭😭

Kindly moving on though, this was an excellent volume! There was a nice, happy moment that literally left me cheering on my couch when reading. LOL! I really liked that the focus was back on our couple and seeing them grow together. I deeply enjoyed seeing them share and reminisce about how they met and how events led them to fall in love with each other. Not only that, but I also love seeing their relationship deepen and grow. It's beautiful. <3

It has been amazing to see Tsukina fully embrace Il's homeland as her own and want to do everything she can to help those around her! I've realized that it's something I've come to super love in isekai where the heroine is a woman in her mid-20s (and up) and is able to pursue her passion, but slowly starts to love the land and people just as much as her old world. Tsukina's passion may be books, but even now she is being a "behind-the-scenes savior" who is doing everything she can with her abilities and knowledge to help. I absolutely love it!

This was definitely another great volume in this series and I hope the final volume will end strong!!

I continue to love this story so much! It's cute, adorable, and super cozy. Perfect if you want a short manga with lots of romantic moments, magic, and beautiful art.

After many many months, I finally was able to get volume 4 and continue to story. Had to do a little reread of the previous 3 because I didn't remember very well and I wanted everything to be fresh in order to start the 4th volume. I'm so happy I did! Because it reminded me how much I adore this manga and its characters. Tsukina and Il are the sweetest and the perfect couple ever. Their relationship grows in this one and I fully believe they have more romantic moments than all the other previous three volumes combined lmao.

Can't wait to read the final volume and see their wedding! So excited.

I'm really enjoying this series, and I really want t to be adapted into an anime. The format is perfect for the classic 12 episode Isekai show.

I'm so glad this volume focused more on the romance and I loved the tension thrown into the story. I really enjoyed this volume and can't wait to see what the finale has in store!

3.5 ⭐ Sweet and lovely, this volume was slow but the relationship had a small smile on my face the whole time.

The love triangle was so unexpected, but ofc tsukina is loyal with our ML💗
Despite the poor choices of Yuta, it's hard to hate him since he's obviously a good guy. He's young and overly eager to be this great savior he keeps on envisioning, he got impatient and felt inferior with the savior who cast the barrier (which was tsukina lol) leading him to get tricked by this unknown menace. But all things worked out. Loved how the plot went, and this new character is making me curious. Volume 5 here I go~

[2.5⭐]

uhh idk why but i get less and less happy with how the volumes progress :( the world building remains underdeveloped, the characters do not acquire much depth, the main couple has only superficial conversations and the attempt for a love triangle in this volume was a total miss imo uhh idk if i can get myself to finish this series atp 💀

For some reason, I was under the impression that this was the last book in the series—I’m glad I was wrong! I adore Il and Tsukina’s relationship, how they support one another (and how often they make each other blush!). I’m looking forward to seeing if my predictions about the next book are correct.

I have to hand it to this series, I didn't think it could pull off more than two volumes, since much of the titular plot was resolved. But each new volume is a delight, and I'm happy to keep reading as long as it goes.

This is volume four of a five-issue series. The characters are fun and there are a few places where I burst out laughing. There is no tension and nothing approaching conflict, so if you're looking for something low-key with lots of good feelings, I recommend this story. Also, I really liked the artwork. Definitely worth getting from the library.

It's still a cute read... but the whole thing with Youta felt off, like he just popped out of nowhere, knowing where our main characters were going..

Oh to have the 30-something year old heroine actually act like a 30-something year old in this story. Seriously. The big sell is that this book is about a woman in her thirties, yet she sure as hell doesn't act at all like an adult. Massive eye rolling with this series. All the same criticisms I've had with the previous volumes pretty much apply to this one.
Biggest new grievance? Obviously our heroine is the best saviour to ever saviour in that at first she was pit against a completely selfish and incompetent saviour to show how good she is to now be pit against an actual competent and caring saviour to show us just how extra good she is. It's mind numbingly blunt. We get it. The heroine is perfect. Geez.
We also get some contrived romance moments that are beyond boring bc nothing in this story is given room to develop, and a ofc a rivalry now for her affection. Use the term rivalry lightly. There isn't one. Just the new saviour having a crush on her, and the heroine for some reason not being a mature grown up enough to actually address and turn down this early twenties dude's affection, and tell him she's engaged. Maybe she forgot she was engaged, it did happen lighting fast and tacked on in the second book. Instead, Il has to get involved and make outlandish claims on his woman like a jealous dick. It's beyond petty and unattractive.
I would not recommend this series to anyone.

3.5/4 stars. I am still enjoying this lower stakes fantasy isekai story. The romance is cute and I love the nerdy book things. It's cozy.

I like this volume more than the others because finally some angst in the jealousy department!

Youta, the new savior, kept on asking Tsukina out and Il is show some distress over it is sooo sweet 😍 Tsukina is also forced to out herself as the other savior in order to save Othel again. And it seems like Youta is not giving up without a fight for Tsukina’s love.

I admire how gentle and sweet the people of Othel are, especially Il towards Tsukina. This book is so homey, it really is like a warm hug. The bonus chapter at the end is at Il’s POV, and I appreciate it a lot. It adds to the warm feeling inside while reading this. Just a simple direct story.

Can’t wait for the final volume to come out!

This series makes me feel so warm and cozy! I really enjoyed this volume, even if it wasn’t all that story-heavy. I liked seeing more emotion and character development from the male lead, and the short story at the end was so lovely.

IT TOOK THEM FOUR VOLUMES TO FINALLY KISS.

Like, we're four volumes in, these are grown adults in their thirties, it was past time, lol.
Things got a lol more interesting in this volume, with other nations manipulating Youta, and Tsukina finally revealing herself to both Youta and Beorc. Ah, one more volume!

There's nothing I love more than reading a new volume from the Saviour's book cafe 🥹 Tsukina and IL are just so sweet~
I'm sad that the next volume will be the finale of the series, (and that we have to wait till May for its release..), but I'm sure the wait will be worth it

In the meantime I shall occupy myself with collecting the manga volumes and locating the light novels. A reread is definitely in the cards ❤️
