BROOKS
Out of work and having the worst time of my life. My happiness comes from dressing up, but even that’s expensive. Until I met him. He promised to make me happy. If that was even possible.

Arlo Reid II was a man of secrets. I couldn’t say no to him. He made me feel alive. He was dangerous, but he promised to protect me. There was no way I could go back to my old life after knowing him. And maybe I didn’t have to. What if I was his Boy forever?

ARLO
It’s difficult being a Daddy in this world. It’s far more difficult to be 199 years old and witness your Boys disappear. But I couldn’t stop. My appetite was insatiable. One look was all it took. He was mine.

Brooks Parker was a picture book, easily read. He was just what I’d been looking for. Sucking on a pacifier in the middle of the club. I had to have him. But was he ready for the real me?

Fast-paced passions often crash and burn. Will their flame ignite for eternity?

VAMPIRE KISSES is an MM paranormal age play romance. The first in the MONSTER DADDIES story series.

Content Warnings for book: Off-page mention of physical and sexual abuse, survival sex work, implied stalking, dubious consent, blood, snakes

Kink: Daddy kink, age play, light blood play

Vampire Kisses by Joe Satoria is a paranormal daddy kink novella, featuring age play. It has a romance between a mysterious vampire Arlo, and the human Brooks. However, it’s biggest failure is not properly being labeled as a dark romance.

If you’re like me, I saw this surprise release and was quite excited at the idea of a vampire daddy — and hey, I expected it to be fluffyish considering the other work this author has done, and it was not marked as a dark romance in any semblance. There were no TWs for the multiple issues that come up besides the past mentions of implied abuse.

Here is where I feel this is a dark romance: Arlo is a man who, in his own words, purposefully takes advantage of those with no money and gives them an offer they can’t refuse. He swears that they can walk away at any time, but has powers to erase their memories of his secret and home. So what does he do? He Just read this:

”Brooks was special. I plucked him from the crowd. I knew he didn’t have much family, and I knew he was struggling. The perfect boy was always one who needed to be cared for. Brooks needed me, and I needed him to realize that need. I was the only one who could protect him. I was the only one who could give him everything he ever wanted.”

I mean, what? Is that what I would want to read in a paranormal daddy kink book that is at the very least expected to not be dark because it wasn’t properly labeled? This vampire wants someone who is in the depths of poverty and reliance in a kink that has a sense of vulnerability due to age regression, and then preys on it with no remorse. I do not have an issue with dark romances, but if you do not warn for them, you bring readers in to be completely unprepared and have a negative experience. There are multiple things in this book I haven’t even pointed out that make Arlo a rather creepy character with a power dynamic that is pretty much inescapable.

Writing wise, it was somewhat disjointed and hard to connect or immerse with as a reader. The sex scenes were okay, but there weren’t necessarily many of them. The age play was present but not having a real focus - the most being that he used a pacifier sometimes and colored. There are no sweet in-depth bathing moments or playtime with Daddy. Arlo is a very uncaring daddy dom, in my opinion. Especially because while Brooks doesn’t get a safeword, Arlo does, because that’s fair and Daddy won’t hurt you, or whatever the fuck. I’ve seen this in other books this author has written too, where the submissive does not have a safeword or a way to leave a scene safely in the so-called negotiated and consensual kink.

I do not recommend this book if you’re expecting good daddy kink or a sweeter romance.

2 stars….
Umm well. Idk. I love monster romance. I love MM. I am not the type to dislike basically any kink but this book just wasn’t for me.

He’s a vampire. Cool. He’s a DD that wants to suck his baby boys blood. Fine by me. He can compel him to forget him? Umm… He’s seen sex tapes of him? Wtf is happening?

Why did I not even understand the mechanics of how he drinks the blood? Believe me I tried to figure it out but I’m still lost. What’s up with the mafia? Seems totally unnecessary. This didn’t even feel spicy? Where was the sex? I’m so lost!!!

2/5 on spice. 4/5 on kink. 1/5 on tears. The kink scale is so high because I’m confused more than anything.

I received a copy of this book from the author, and this is my honest review.
What a nice short story!!! That's the first time I read a Joe's PNR book and I loved it!
It has everything we come to expect from him: it is funny, cute, sexy. And our vampire Arlo has pink eyes: how cool is this? (Pun intended 😉).
I can't wait for Meyer's story, as a tentacle shifter he really can do anything to/with his partner.
If you want something short and perfect you can't miss it!

A bit disappointing

I was really excited by the blurb for this book and had high hopes for it but I have to say honestly that I was rather disappointed. A vampire Daddy looking for a Boy is a great premise, unfortunately the author fails to deliver it in execution. The vampire, Arlo, is about as two dimensional as they come. There's no depth to his character, no compelling backstory, and his behavior was very uncharacteristic for an immoral being. He's kind of wussy. He's brought Brooks to his home three times before and each time the boy has fled, his memories surpressed. He claims that Brooks is his soulmate yet three times he let him go back to poverty, abusive men masquerading as daddies, and basically selling himself to survive. He even admits, internally, that he was watching and aware of Brook's misfortunes but did nothing! I honestly did not like him! Brooks started out as a curious, maybe too easily trusting, boy but then he made thus gigantic leap from being wary, a little shocked at finding out Arlo is a vampire, and then totally docile and asking to stay! He even wants to watch a man be killed - although the man ends up just being cursed - because he attacked Brooks! An attack Brooks caused by disobeying his Daddy! Then "wham, bang, thank you mam" everything is hunky dory and Arlo is buying Brooks the BDSM club that they met at! All four times! Nothing in this story seemed logical or plausible and I struggled not to just give up the more ridiculous if became. Honestly, the most positive things I can say are that it was pretty well edited and the cover is gorgeous. Not exactly rousing reasons to read this but it's something. I'm glad it was in KU because I would have been sorely unhappy if I spent actual money on it.

This paranormal Daddy/Little novella was the first book I read by the author and I was not disappointed!
Not every theme in it was my cuppa, but I enjoyed the story and the writing.

Yeah it's pretty bad

There's no real way to sugarcoat this. This was pretty bad. The characters were shallow and two-dimensional. Nothing about them was compelling. And the writing was pretty disjointed. I found it really hard to immerse myself in the book. There wasn't enough detail to create an immersive story. It was just words on a page, if that makes sense and sometimes those words didn't corroborate the words before it.

As for the story...there really is nothing nice to say about it. Why make a daddy/little story if you're not going to have the little be a little? Why make a character a vampire if you're not going to use the most basic vampire logic. Seriously, the more that Arlo was explained, the less I understood.

Arlo was an awful daddy, Brooks didn't make any sense as a character, and the smut doesn't even get a passing grade from me. I think it's time I put this author down. I have yet to enjoy anything they have written.

maybe for others?

I want to stress that I got this book knowing that there was a huge possibility that it wouldn’t be my thing! I can’t give a proper review because I think it might be biased to my… dislike of the theme. All I want to let you know is that I went in thinking it probably wouldn’t be my thing, but seeing what was what. Brook was more of a “little” than I thought he would be and I found it unattractive and annoying, if not boring all the way though. There also was hardly ANY story line. The blurb IS IT. It’s just about the relationship between a “daddy” who has trial and errored, and a “little” who I just couldn’t help envisioning as a grown ass man wearing a nappy and nothing else, while sucking a dummy. But I really do thinkI might be biased. Please ignore if this is your thing because you really might enjoy it. I can’t tell, due to my dislike of the relationship, whether it was well structured or good language etc…

Interesting

This was an interesting vampire Daddy story. Vampire Arlo meets little Brooks in a club and invites him to his home. Desperate for money Brooks accepts the invitation not knowing who Arlo really is. Brooks was adorable as a little and just wants to find his perfect Daddy to protect and care for him. Arlo is secretive and there was a bit of a shocking revelation. Overall a quick, enjoyable story.

Book One

Brooks seems to always have bad luck when it comes to life. He struggles to make ends meet and he can't find the right Daddy either. Arlo has been watching Brooks for a very long time. In fact Arlo is a vampire looking for his fated little. And he knows that Brooks is the one for him, if he can only get Brooks to look past his fangs and how he needs to drink blood! Easy read, low angst and just hot enough to keep your attention! Yea!

I love daddy/little books but this one didn't sit right with me. I tend to read the fluffier ones, these books are about comfort and protection to me. So having money be exchanged immediately felt uncomfortable. Then the twists and turns involving neglect by the daddy, stalking, and more -- all combined to be a no go for me.

This is an age play daddy kink vampire novella about an obsessive vampire and a little sex worker. This is not "War and Peace" nor does it claim to be. If you like dark romance, or kink that is not too effed up, but is still kind of effed up, this is for you. Y'all need to regulate your expectations.

This was a cute little Daddy/Little story. The Daddy's a vampire who's had his eye on the human little for a while now. Arlo is also the head of the supernatural mafia. It was a quick easy read. A little raunchy, but other wise interesting. It's the beginning of a monster daddies series by Joe, the next is a werewolf story.

Bite My Neck!

What a great fun story. I loved every minute of it. A little nail biting, and let’s not forget the sexy vampire! A match made in heaven for the main characters. Looking forward to reading the other MONSTER DADDY stories!!

DNF at 44%

I tried to get thru this one but nope couldn't do it.
There were glaring mistakes, like saying you are 160yrs old and then a paragraph later saying you are celebrating your 200th birthday???
A fan of the Daddy/boy/ageplay troupe but that's about it.

The author gave vague details about Brooks's life before he met Daddy Arlo. I think Brooks was a rent little or rent boy or something like that because he only went with Arlo because he was paid for it and Brooks liked to talked about his past sexual adventures with daddies.

First in MM Daddy Supernatural MM Romance

I think this is my first time reading Joe Satoria, and whilst the story arc/structure is ok, there are some inconsistencies that detract from enjoyment.
It' also has quite a few editorial issues, though the world building is fun.

This little gem snuck out on us, and we are not disappointed. Joe has found a niche with all his Daddy books. We see a little darker element with this book and a little creepy, but I am here for it.
Brooks knew he was drawn to Arlo, but he didn’t know why. He just knew that he wanted to find a forever Daddy. Could he find that with Arlo? On the flip side, Arlo seeks out Brooks and brings him back in hopes that they won’t run this time. But when you find the one you are destined to find, you will do everything to keep them. Arlo will do anything that he has to when it comes to keeping his boy safe. I loved this short and can’t wait for more.

Okay

I liked the idea of a daddy vamp but wasn’t so keen on the how they got together, it seemed to cheapen the characters and perhaps I’m too much of a romantic at heart but it just didn’t connect with me. Also could do with a read through for some errors. I’m sure others will enjoy though.

Leitura fácil, mas achei confuso e muito deturpado para ambos os universos de vampiros e BDSM.
