Now that Tasmin Pettiford and Elisa Hunte have discovered they are witches, one would think life would be smoother for them. Unfortunately, it’s never that easy.
After nearly perishing at the hands of Archangel Michael and his equally powerful wife, they soon realize that an even bigger threat is in Salix Pointe … one that seeks to destroy them by any means necessary.
The witches also have to grapple with the realization that Octavian’s parents killed so many people close to them. Not to mention that Aunt Noreen was betrayed by one of their own coven members, Mary Ann Howard.
Then there are the epic, life-altering family secrets and lies. To battle the ancient evil that’s coming, Elisa and Tasmin will have to put their differences aside, and band together with those who betrayed them in order to not only save their lives, but those of the people of Salix Pointe.
The depth of research and the magnificent writing was impeccable! Not to mention the wonderful narration of this book!! Amazing work yet again from this writing duo!
I am hooked!! 1st of all... Aazel has grown on me! Idc how evil he is, he is consistent & I respect that. Lol This read was so rich with culture, history, and genuine love. The healing & bonding that takes place to make a unite front against the enemy is so beautiful! The pain from the loss was so hard to witness for Tas & Elisa, but the undying love from their men was so amazing! Bravo on another well written release! BTW... my mouth is hanging open on Octavian & Tas surprise guest!
I enjoyed this book. It picked up where it left off. This tale had more intrigue, action and character development. Much research was done to ensure a good read
I do not know where to start? The centuries of love that surpassed throughout time, the many mysteries that brought all characters together. This book is written with so much passion for the readers, I thank you for blessing all who have encountered your many writings. Hoping for a series, because each character can have their story told.
Book 2 was another fantastic trip to Salix Pointe! It’s filled with even more drama, love, magick and mystery!
Tasmin and Ellsa have so much weight on their shoulders. Thankfully, Octavian and Dafari are right by their side as the ladies prepare for an epic battle. I didn’t like the idea of them “partnering” with Mary Ann. “Keep your enemies close.” is very true for this group.
I love Demon Daddy (don’t judge me lol) and I was happy to have more of him in this installment. He shows sides of himself which could lead you to feel he has a “soft side”. But – you keep wondering “What is he really up to?”
We get introduced to a few more characters. Some you will definitely hate, others you will love. When you reach the “history lessons” pay close attention to “little nuggets” Noelle Vella gives you. You’ll start to connect the dots. Be prepared not to be able to connect all of them – them just yet.
Three things I appreciate most about Noelle Vella:
1. 1) The research Noelle Vella has put into this series. 2. 2) This is actually for all their books. Noelle Vella paints a gorgeous picture of their characters. Readers are shown our physical attributes are very diverse and we are beautiful people! 3. 3) Like #2, this fits all of their books. Noelle Vella reinforces (for Black men specifically) it’s okay to be vulnerable/let your guard down for the one you love! There are key moments in this book where this shines through.
Great job (again!) ladies. I’ll be patiently waiting on Book 3.
Amazing! Intense! Action Packed! I wasn't sure where this story was going, but based off of how amazing book 1 was, I knew it would be good but I had no idea just how good! From someone that loves reading about mystical beings, witches, angels etc... it is such a beautiful thing to finally be represented in a kick tail, take no prisoners Beautiful Black Powerful Witch. I loved it. Part 2 started off with a lot of ground work and information so it moved a little slower for me, but once it picked up, around chapter 6, it was on and popping from there. I'll definitely need to do a reread of both books so I can try to figure out where or what I missed and if I think this story is going where I hope it's not...lol Highly recommend this series! It's a game changer.
Outstanding book! Epic battles, redemption, forgiveness, purely evil villains from hell, betrayal and love! I enjoyed reading this book with every turn of the page. The ladies came into their powers and themselves along the way, the brothers bond was even more strengthened as well as the bond between their mates. Despite all of the chaos ensuing, they were a team. I can’t wait for the next book because I need to know about the “1” they had to make room for, the trouble on the horizon, and what happened to the “meteorite” . Wonderful read!
The Witches of Salix Pointe 2: Something Wicked This Way Comes did not disappoint! After I read the 1st one I knew the next would be just as captivating. I literally could not stop reading it. The characters, the setting and plot all have something special that I can’t quite figure out. The way it is written you can literally imagine it as you’re reading. The details about each character and every scene is so amazing that it makes you feel as if you’re apart of it. The authors had me thinking I was magical lol. Definitely a must read and I cannot wait for the next book in this series.
One of the most enjoyable reads I have had in a while the genre between the characters, the detail to places, events and people makes the scenes take place before your eyes like watching a movie. Action packed like a Rollercoaster. Thought provoking matters that make u relate to the characters wholeheartedly. Can't wait for the next book!
This book was better than the first in my opinion. It felt as if the author let the characters “speak” freely and didn’t focus so much explaining why they had the mannerisms or dialect of what ever region they were from. The characters and story progressed so much farther and yet I am eagerly awaiting the next book lol.
I love this story literally Tasmin and Elisa are my girls and I love Octavian and Dafari for them it’s the perfect match I can’t wait for the next book! There is a next book right? Like their fight isn’t close to being over it seems like!
I enjoy this second book. I learned so much more about Dafari, Elisa, Tasmain, Octavian and others in Salix Pointe. There was plenty going on in the small town. Great read and I loved how the story unfolded and the ending...
Your recipe for love and marriage gave me hope for my future love. Emotionally you brought me anger, fear, sadness and lust. Excellence is the least to describe this book. From my ancestors to yours be open to love and all the challenges it brings.
This novel picks up from the previous. Now it seems that more is to follow after this. I cannot WAIT for the next novel featuring The Witches of Salix Pointe!!!
We have Dafari a half demon Angel son of Azazel the bad Grey demon daddy. Octavian the younger half brother to Dafari, a professor of the occult son of Micheal only sharing a mom with his brother, tainted by Azazel so Octavian now has some Demon blood which is used to thwart the demon Eve from getting a foothold onto earth. And Lilith is considered a good arch Angel in this world. We’ve met Crones, a necromancer, lupe de grou(?), a grey-watcher, a young seer, warlock and a wonderful fairy. There’s a small town that is the epicenter of magic on a small Georgia island. And two woman cousins whose souls have suffered great loss during slavery that the lived and after. Elisa & Tasmin awakened to their past lives they’ve grown stronger as witches. The religion of the story has fingers in magic from Africa, southern America and Christianity. The magical mythological species thus far come from all types of spiritualities. Octavian, Azazel and Jewel help readers to understand a great deal of it. I love the world the author has crafted for this story. The writing is rather high brow and through this novel all the characters begin to speak similarly despite their individual chapters for each. The author has an amazing sense of men’s fashion that I found odd. It takes paragraphs in describing suits. In addition the characters repeatedly reiterate the same thoughts. The constant repetition slows chapters particularly when 2 or 3 revisit the same scene from a different viewpoint. When it works it’s amazing. When it doesn’t it hurts the speed of storytelling. There are editing problems that also harm the story if you are a close slow reader. There are American turns of phrases that are in their most formal form and don’t suit the characters modern day linguistics. As if they are all scholars. I recommend this for readers of paranormal romance who desire a new world utilizing African and Black historically accurate southern elements with a plethora of factual information woven in.

This is a combined 3 book series review so prepare to be whisked away on a Fanta-Real adventure that blurs the lines of fantasy with reality crafted by two amazing storytelling enchantresses whose words paint a vivid and captivating picture that drew me deep into the story where demons, witches, angels, warlocks, magic, portals, veils and spells occur with earthly beings as they rally to fight evil to save souls and lives of both the good and the bad.
This series took me back in time, transitioning and intertwining Biblical content, Greek mythology and Black history making it feel as if you're right there, reliving memories and being in the moment alongside the characters. There were intense earthly, heavenly and demonic connections that lead to fight scenes, sexy dangerous characters that had me questioning my dark side. It reveals deep rooted family secrets, lies, betrayal, hunger for power and at the center of it all, beautiful soul ties from romances and love that literally transcend time.
This story will keep the pages turning because who finds a demon sexy…me 💃🏽🙋🏽♀️! Demon Daddy and his sons had me melting trying to merged into this book because everything felt so real like I was there experiencing it along with the characters and did not want it to end.
The authors blend of truth and fiction breathes life into the story, while the narrators are simply chefs kiss perfection - embodying every character like celestial artisans, infusing the story with a symphony of emotions and authenticity. The range in dialect flowed like a perfect wave that never broke. It’s is an extraordinary performance.
This series is a stroke of creative genius that one day needs to grace the silver screen. If you haven't dived into The Witches of Salix Pointe series yet, it's time to add it to the top of your reading list!
More secrets are revealed. There are more players in the game than initially suspected.
I love the different types of magic including elemental, necromancy, seers, empaths, telekinesis and healing. There are also vampires, angels, demons and fairies in addition to the witches. I also enjoyed reading about black history and folklore. Demon daddy was funny but the term was used far too much.
One of my biggest issues was the lack of common sense. After finding out about her history, why wouldn’t Tasmin think the burning of her business could be magical? Again, after finding out about her history why wouldn’t she confront her family? What’s the actual curse that makes them keep reliving this fate? What’s different this time? Although they’re reincarnations, it’s odd the women have the same names every lifetime. Their family’s nonchalance about their own deceit was wild and essentially swept under the rug for the greater good. I didn’t like that. It’s supposed to be two chocolate chip cookies not one. Never got an explanation about the static feeling that Octavian had. The excessive description of men’s fashion was unnecessary. Why have the archangels never been involved in their previous lives? Will the witches become immortal?
So many distracting errors in the book including misspelled words, switching tenses, poor sentence structure and missing words and spaces. I learned several new words but felt like the focus should’ve been on creating a well written book versus enhancing our vocabulary. The book also dragged in certain parts, especially the battle. Was the time necessary at the beginning of the POVs? Why an epilogue would ever be 70 pages when the rest of the chapters were like 10-15 pages is beyond me! Like the interlude should’ve been been the epilogue.
Good book but…this book needs to be edited. I thought I was tripping while reading the epilogue and a whole sentence repeated itself. Besides editing sometimes I feel like there’s way too much detail instead of getting to the point. In some cases the details do come in handy though. Another thing is that the story lacks intimacy and steamy scenes. Granted I know it isn’t based on sex and more towards witches and paranormal things but for one of the main characters to be an incubus and there’s rarely any sex scenes is a lil blah. The man literally needs to feed off it and there’s barely none there. With all the details giving in this book a few good sex scenes should’ve been included. Add the fact that the 2 main couples have found their way back to each other and you would think on that alone they’d be some intimate scenes. By the time anything intimate was initiated it was over and done with lil to no details. Other than that I loved how the small town of Salix was filled with a bunch of black paranormals. It was good to see black witches, black demons, black angels, and a host of other black paranormal characters. I like the fact that it didn’t sound far fetched like the authors really took the time out to actually research the different practices. Loved the main characters and thought they were cute together and although Demon Daddy was a bad/good guy I actually liked seeing him pop in and out lol. I just need to know what he’s plotting. Some of the characters I was ready to jump inside the book and handle them myself. Oh and I can’t forget about Rufus he was a character with the way he talked lmao
I’m writing this review after finishing the series. It was recommended to by Kindle me based on my reading habits. I am always looking for paranormal stories with Black characters.
The first book in the series had little to no heat. It seems the author tried to raise the heat level in this book. While I give her credit for that (wasn’t great writing but the attempt was there), unfortunately the rest of the storyline begins to fall apart.
Ms. Vella tries to blend (and rewrite) various religions and mythologies unsuccessfully. The motivations and reasonings of characters are non-existent or contradictory. Telling a story from various characters’ point of view, requires skill and understanding of each character’s motivation, ethos and pathos. Ms. Vella fails at that.
Additionally, threads are introduced then summarily dropped. Insignificant things are covered repeatedly, while more important plot points are barely mentioned. Eventually the plot becomes circuitous and dragging.
This sequel is a strong follow-up to the first book, with the plot deepening and the story expanding in really exciting ways. I loved how the author developed both of the main romantic relationships—Tasmin and Elisa’s connection to their past selves was beautifully done in certain moments, and Octavian’s cheeky personality was so fun to read. The attention to detail, especially in the history and the town’s descriptions, added so much richness to the world. And, I have to say, the word “breast” was used less this time around!
That said, the book wasn’t perfect. There were noticeable editing mistakes, which I’m hoping get smoothed out by the third installment. Also, while the plot was engaging, it sometimes felt overloaded—details were introduced and then abandoned, which left me with too many unanswered questions. I get that it’s a way to keep the story moving, but there comes a point where it’s better to focus on what’s truly important.
Overall, though, it’s an enjoyable sequel, and I can't wait to read the third part!!
Excellent follow-up to book 1! This continuation is not cut short as I thought the first book was. The story is layered, with more in-depth back stories that deepen the characters’ relationships to each other. There are compelling new players that expands the main characters’ development and the overall plot. It‘s easy to introduce new characters that subtract instead of enhance a story, but I think the author did a great job of tying every player and their backstories to the larger storyline. One thing that stands out to me, though, is that I haven’t developed a special connection to an individual character. Rather, I find myself thinking of groups of characters and drawing conclusions about them. If I had to choose one character I’m very fond of, that would be Rufus. There’s mystery around him but he’s so likable and helpful to Tasmin and Elissa, and later on to their partners. His positivity is infectious and helpful offers a comedic relief that no other character does. Anyway, I just ordered the last book and I’m excited to press play.
Although in the beginning I found the extreme detail of everything down to clothing annoying I must say it was quite necessary to pull you into the book. I read this book like each chapter was an episode and this was a show I was binge watching. The ending gave me pause. While I knew things were getting set up for another book. ...I really could have read another 500 pages to see it all resolved lol I'm not good with cliffhangers or until next time. This book was brilliantly written and I felt all the emotions on all the pages.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
