Ancestors Said is a 365-page debut prose collection by Ehime Ora, a writer who rose to popularity through her social media presence. Ora's debut book holds gentle words of prayer and affirmation to intuitively provide you with peace, joy, and healing all year long. The author intends for the book to be read day-by-day as meditative guides or utilized as journal prompts.
I used this book as my journal throughout the year and it was such a transformative experience; not sure if that was because daily journaling is a good practice or because of the actual words within the book. 80% of the meditations really applied to my day sometimes almost eerily specifically. Although sometimes repetitive or sometimes too vague to actually speak to anyone directly with meditations like "the universe has so much in store for you" it was still such a worthwhile read. I will say that it did bring a lot of peace into my life and I am not someone who particularly believes in ancestral worship or spirituality. I highly recommend and I am sad that Ora is not writing another one for next year.
Started it late (Feb 14) and ended it early (Dec 4) because I knew the month would be too busy to actually try to do the daily readings.
This one was recommended to me by a friend who knew I was going through some crap this year, and thought it might help me out. I’d say about 40-50% of the passages spoke to me (and maybe 5% of those REALLY meant something to me), which to me, is really good for a book of this nature! Daily passages tend to not do much for me, but this one was an exception.
