Lord Grey Greyson, Viscount Greyson : My father was pressuring me to choose a suitable bride sooner rather than later. I wasn’t averse to the idea and wanted to find a sensible wife, one who would have no illusions about a love match. I could not promise her my heart because it belonged to Theodore, Marquess of Pelton, a man I had been in love with since the first time we kissed.
Theodore, Marquess of Greyson was my best friend and lover but our desire for each other was forbidden. Both of us came to London to find a wife. Unlike Greyson, I had to contend with the Pelton legacy of marrying the season’s incomparable. Miss Zinnia Olander didn’t fit into the mold. I am ashamed to admit that I ignored my growing affection for her in lieu of courting her beautiful cousin. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t shake my feelings for her, or for Greyson.
Miss Zinnia Olander : I carried a foolish infatuation for Pelton during my first season but he had eyes for one woman and it wasn’t me. After imbibing in too much champagne, I did the unthinkable and asked Lord Greyson to dance. The next thing I knew, we were engaged. My attraction to my fiancé was only eclipsed by my secret love for Pelton that I couldn’t seem to rid myself of.
When I found out about an illicit affair between the friends, I had two choices. Either end my marriage to Greyson or explore an unconventional relationship with the two men I loved.
Anne Shaw is the author of both contemporary and historical romances. She lives in western Washington with her four-legged friend Larry, a quirky cat who stares at her for hours on end while she loses herself in a world where a sexy hero, and bold heroine face insurmountable odds to reach the ultimate goal, a happily-ever-after.
What is love? A very naughty bit of reading this tale is. If you enjoy this type of book this is one I think you will like. Now the story is rather detailed and very steamy. I liked the characters Zinnia, Pelton, Greyson, Aurora, and Mary their individual stories made the tale a bit more complex than one might think. These characters with the help of the author looked at what is the true meaning of love. I did receive a free copy of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.
Well done and super steamy story about friends/secret lovers and the women they marry. I really liked all the characters (even Aurora in a way) and there was tons of emotion too. I liked how it all played out; the plot was nicely nuanced.
Normally I do not like 1st person in romance, but this worked well. The author is very clear about who is narrating each time.
