Spoilers ahead, you've been warned... Trigger warning: Child abandonment, Suicide
This manhwa... *sigh*
I could have rated this higher than this but damn, the middle part of the story just ruined this for me. The MC Min Kyum did some questionable decisions that frustrated me so much i just want to whack him in the head. I wouldn't dare judge his inferiority complex, most of us have these moments too, but I wanted him to chill down first before making decisions. He's very impulsive most of the time, one have the urge to hold his rein to stop him.
To be honest, that whole situation with him having a relationship with his asshole of a co-worker wouldn't have come to that extent if he just calmed down a bit. To think that he just confessed his feelings for the ML Choonsam but because he misunderstood the other person's answer as a rejection, he got drunk with his co-worker, slept with him and enter a relationship with him, all in the same day? Like dude, chill? That's the most idiotic decision he'd ever made in this series. Choonsam is a precious baby and he doesn't deserved to be treated that way. Seeing him cry because of Min Kyum hurts my heart so much. And in the end, that co-worker is just cheating on his girlfriend with him.
Min Kyum's initial reaction when the problem is in front of him: run away, leaving Choonsam behind, alone, wondering how he would handle the situation. Most of the time, Choonsam is the one who initiates and compromises and I hated that. Relationship doesn't involve just one person. I actually appreciate that in the extra chapters at the end of the series, that final conflict made Min Kyum realized how Choonsam has always been the one chasing him. That even after the issue of being dumped by his co-worker (after cowardly running away from the real problem), Choonsam still chose to forgive and accept him and has always been the one being so thoughtful. That he has to put an effort too in order for their relationship to work out. That mindset actually soothes my raging heart. I still don't like him very much but whatever. I just want him not to hurt Choonsam anymore than he already did.
On the other hand, that part about Min Kyum's father being the most horrible person ever, I don't think it was handled very well, in my opinion. I just feel like the author created the character of the father just to be the reason of Min Kyum's insecurities and unstable way of handling relationships. No substance, no depth, just pure wickedness. I was waiting for more plot on the father's side, but didn't expect the author would killed him off just like that so that Min Kyum could get an easier way of ending the issue with him.
I expected more from this, to be honest. I tend to steer away from romance stories, BL or not, when it involved cheating or third party or something in the same aspect, but I started this without knowing that it has something I don't like. Otherwise, I don't think I would have picked it up in the first place. I woudn't personally recommend this to anyone, but I've seen that it is included in many people's recommendation list so I guess it's up to you to decide.
