Xarc'n Warriors #2

Wanted by the Hunter

Rate this book

NATALIE

A knight in shining loincloth

That’s what I’m looking for. I’ve been lusting after the Xarc’n hunters since they landed on Earth, offering to help us fight the alien bugs. These seven feet tall, musclebound warriors are horned, clawed, and fanged—the ultimate protectors. And Rajiv’k is the perfect specimen.

Just one problem: I can’t fall in love. Nope! Not after the crappy relationships I’ve had. I refuse to deal with a broken heart during the bugpocalypse. No way! So I keep things transactional, his protection for my companionship. What can go wrong, right?

RAJIV’K

Hunters are supposed to revel in the physical act of fighting and killing the scourge. But not me. I kill them, they multiply, I kill them, they multiply. What’s the point? Why spend my life saving worlds I didn’t care about?

Then, she comes along. Little human Natalie fires up my need to claim and protect. And suddenly, I have a reason to fight. Natalie is mine. She just doesn’t know it yet.

Alien man meat!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌎
Character development: ☹️😳🥺☺️

The heroine: Natalie - Natalie is cousin to Alice from Claimed by the Hunter. She was slashed by one of the alien insects that invaded Earth and now walks with a pronounced limp. She is intelligent and has a desire to always be learning new things.

The Hero: Rajiv’k - Friend and peer to Kaj’k from the first book. Rajiv’k is a Xarc’n hunter on Earth to fight the Alien insects that have invaded Earth. The Xarc’n hunters are all clones which were created to fight the insect swarms that were unleashed by their creators after the swarms got out of their control and started to go from world to world destroying everything in their path.

The Story: This book starts at an earlier time than the first book. All the way back to the time when Natalie was injured. Though it soon catches up and we see the time when Kaj’k calls Rajiv’k to protect Natalie, knowing that Rajiv’k has been working on some things that may help Natalie’s injury. Rajiv’k knows immediately after meeting Natalie that she is his mate.

This book was told in dual points of view via dual narration. The narration was done by Troy Duran and Kiera Stevens. I love Troy Duran, who has a deep sexy voice which is perfect for the huge alpha alien males in this series. Kiera Stevens has a young, intelligent sounding and feminine voice which matches Natalie perfectly.

I liked Natalie, she was smart and spunky despite her injury and she had been crushing on the Xarc’n hunters since they came to Earth. The story was good and I loved the characters.

Well I am two for two so far in this series, I loved this! Now I will say I did actually love this a lot more than the 1st book, but that doesnt mean I like the first any less now, I like them both for different reasons. But as of right now book 2 is my favorite.

I absolutely adore Rajiv'k, he is a messy, unorganized, loner who is actually a little romantic at heart. I love how Lee built his character, you get so used to seeing well organized men who have very little items and immaculate housing, that Rajiv'k having storage units full of random stuff he has obtained over the course of being on Earth is literally a breath of fresh air. And then knowing it's because he is a tinker who loves creating more than he does hunting is just the cherry on top of his character. He spends so much time in this book saying the sweetest most romantic lines to Nat, but also in his own head about her, that it's so hard not to fall for this guy. He is also very protective of her and takes any and all bad mouthing of her personally and if given the opportunity he will kill someone for it one day.

Natalie is hilarious, I love that she knows what she wants and isn't ashamed for being into the Xarc'n hunters. She is a bit dramatic when we learn her back story about why she doesn't want to give her heart away again and why she wants to keep everything transactional, but it does help give her some depth, she isnt a bland 1 dimensional character. She is strong willed but she has her moments where she does beat herself up and think of herself as useless, but its never long lived because she pushes onward. I loved how she stood up for another girl without hesitation and how she risked her life for Rajiv'k, that particular moment felt real, it was a heat of the moment she thinks she is losing her man, and she fights and struggles with her own limitations to get to him, ah I loved it.

The action once again was amazing, Lee does an outstanding job coordinating her fight scenes and making them understandable, I have zero problems visualizing what she is creating. The story also has a good balance between action scenes and non action scenes. Though I do wish we got to see more of the situation when they were trying to trick the paramilitary guys, but instead got a conversation about babies... Again I understand why the topic gets brought up in relation to this world but I was more interested in the fight against the bigots.

Rajiv'k and Nat as a couple are super adorable, they are perfect for one another, he loves tinkering with items and making inventions and she loves gathering information. They can work together when coming up with new ideas, and they appreciate what the other is capable of. They are also to huge dorks who really vibe together. There was only one scene that annoyed me and it was when we had the 1 day break up scene because he thought he was protecting her, and frankly that was annoying, especially since the event that triggered this decision from him was tackled earlier in the book and Nat handled it then in her own way. He just jumped to making a choice without consulting her and I get the idea behind it, it just still annoyed me.

I also thought the mating bond was WAY more romantic in this book, because it was private and intimate as opposed to Kaj'k's book where it was in front of others and made ina really cringy uncomfortable way. It's clear the mating bond is going to be a hit or miss for me depending on how its used in each book.

Speaking of bigots, this book really hones in on the racists aspects of the world, human men are not happy about human women hooking up with the Xarc'n men. What's interesting in how Lee handles it, she shows how the human men are more angry with the women than anything else. Sure they want to kill the hunters, but they are absolutely disgusted with the women who fall for the Xarc'ns. They say some of the foulest remarks and threats and it's scary how realistic it truly is. It's a great reflection of men who are super insecure about themselves and blame everyone around them for their faults. There are two characters that I have a feeling will come back into play and this particular storyline will continue to appear. I appreciate the realism Lee brings to the overall story with this plotline.

The overarching story is still in play as well, and I think Lee does an outstanding job rehashing earlier events but in a quick way that doesn't eat up to much time in the story. She has a solid story gluing each book together and is slowly building her cast of characters through it and it gives that extra push to keep going because I want to see the outcome of the entire group's' effort to accomplish the task that was started in book one.

I will be continuing this series, and keeping my hopes up that it stays this good.

Survivor tale

Liked finding out more about surviving humans. Do not agree that the humans would decelerate to walking dead like pacts so soon. Think it would take a few years.

Besides that liked the author tale. And main characters.

Did wish they had worked together to make the human phones, etc work for them to communicate with the humans. And have jack broadcast interviews with the aliens, human survivors.

Have them tell humans, etc how to kill bugs, and how they came about, why they use devices.
How to survive and join in with aliens to kill bugs. So both can survive, thrive.
Also, why didn’t they think of covered walkway and net between buildings, to make dead end for swarms, then use boiling oils adaption from wars of old to kill bugs.
Especially since author said they have explosive gas waste.

Actually think they should use chemicals to break down shells, etc. would be great if they had bug scientist that survived.

The Alien and his Female to Heal

Not only does this author know how to write without using He Said/She Said excessively, she also knows how to continue a series. I loved how it started from the scene I still remembered from Alice's story. I don't think I've read a second book in a series thats started out like that before.

I adored Natalie. She was smart, witty and a sexual tease. There was no resistance from this Earth Girl. She wanted a Knight in Shining Loincloth, so she was all in from the get go. Rajiv’k was also different from the other Warriors I had previously read. He didn't have the same acute scent draw to Natalie. But I knew what was coming, and I couldn't wait for Natalie to get her thrown over the shoulder carry... Excellent Read

I really love this series— for whatever reason the Xarc’n hunters really hit the spot for me, and this latest entry was an excellent example of that. You’ve got hunters and humans and bugs, and they all three get up to shenanigans. The bugs are evolving, and sadly some human perspectives are not, which rings all too sadly true. But love (and sexy times!) will triumph, and I’m already salivating for the next title in the series!

I really enjoyed the sassy, feisty, intelligent female lead. Her creativity and her constant stream of ideas. She was a fantastic secondary character in the previous story in this series and I was waiting this one wit her as the lead.

The male lead’s creativity was a great match to her, and their ongoing inventing is cute and desperately needed in the world the author has created.

The story was dual POV, well written and edited, and a great addition to the series.

There's a main core group of Hunters, each book is about 1 of them, & finding their fated mate, while on a mission. This is the 2nd book, in a series. I've not read anything by this author, until now, this book. Surprisingly, I really liked it!
It has translation issues, giant bugs invaded, lol. Seriously tho it does have those things, but it also has... Action, hero's, patience, racy sex scenes, companionship, racism, vulgar threats, fear, understanding, fated mates, love, etc.
The main huge story line expands over other books, but it looks like each book is a stand-alone, with the main 2 characters, yet weaves a huge back story throughout the books. I was able to catch on really easy, without having seen any other book related to this series. However, I'd like to start from the beginning now & read them all.

DNF @ 27%. I'm not sure how the author managed to make the heroine sound so shallow and stupid but she did. The dialogue included "oh my gosh" and "oh boo hoo". She somehow acted like a naive child and a horny old lady at the same time. There really wasn't much depth to any of the characters or plot. hard pass.

Xarc’n Warriors is an 8-book post apocalypse series written by Lynnea Lee. The books are set on Earth, after an alien invasion from space bugs, where the few human survivors are still fighting for survival daily. The invasive species, controlled by a “queen,” have built hives inside major cities, and killed (and ate) most humans. The space bugs (aka scourge) carry an infectious and deadly bacteria. Any human that became desperate enough (from starvation) to capture and eat a scourge, turned into a heavily contagious zombie that must be avoided at all cost. The scourge will stop at nothing to return the bacteria to its hive. The remaining humans have taken refuge outside the major cities. Some forming survivalist groups and cults that stand against the Xarc’n Warriors. The Xarc’n Warriors are aliens that have come to help Earth by ridding it of their scourge infestation. The Xarc’ns, being perfect clones specifically designed to fight the bugs, reside in territories around the world. This series follows the Xarc’n Warrior group created a home inside a compound for safety. Xarc’n Hunter’s are over 7 feet tall, purple skin, ram-like horns sprouting from their temples, sharp teeth with fangs, and retractable claws. They all seem to have muscles on top of their muscles; no dad bods here. Their females are extinct, which is why they’ve been intrigued to match and mate with women of Earth (they are compatible and can have offspring together). But they have to travel to the mothership in order to activate their dormant mating capabilities, so no accidental pregnancies can be had.

Wanted by the Hunter is book 2 in the series and follows the Xarc’n Warrior Rajiv’k and his human mate Natalie. Natalie was living with her cousin Alice in the hardware store (from book 1) when we first met her. Alice’s mate introduced Rajiv’k to Natalie after he saved the pair from a group of dangerous infected humans. The two made a deal: safety in exchange for companionship and healing her leg in exchange for sex. Natalie was adamant about not falling in love and having her heart broken, even though she was the one to push Alice into Kaj’k. There isn’t a whole lot of adventure in this book aside from the whole group attempting to get the local scourge under control, setting their site up for water and crops, and dealing with two human men that have a problem with the Xarc’n hunters. Rajiv’k pushed Natalie away in attempt to protect her from the hateful human inside their compound, then had to make up for it. He healed her hurt leg. Eventually a mate bond appeared, locking them together. And of course, she fell in love with her hunter.

Admittedly, I am 100% on board with the Xarc’n species. Their protective, aggressive, possessive, dominant, controlling need of need of their mate is my kind of flavor. The way they unintentionally purr, growl and roar is kinda cute too. When a mating band takes place, neither party can physically stop touching each other for a certain period of time. Which is different and quite endearing. Each section of a Xarc’n cock is shaped like a sex toy; a head with a thick ridge around the widest part and it dipped in before the next part started. Picture a butt-plug with 3 round balls, each one bigger than the last.

The book doesn’t suck; it’s filled with adventure and a little romance. I just prefer found myself a little bored with the redundant story. I recommend reading, at least once. Onto the next book in the series…

This is the story about Rajiv’k and Natalie, Xarc’n Warriors, technically book 2, but really the third story in this series. (Make sure you sign up for Lynnea Lee’s newsletter to get Pursued By The Hunter, Cov’k and Cynthia’s story, for free. It is a prequel to the series and definitely worth the read.)

There is enough background and storyline building to allow this book to read as a stand-alone, without redundancy. However, why would you want to do that when each previous story builds these characters and their compatriots, too? :)

I loved this story about Rajiv’k and Natalie, especially the ways they are different from the others and perfectly matched with their creative minds. This book introduces new characters and develops others from the previous books. Each book has its own challenges and adventures. Yet you do get a sense that each story is building toward the biggest challenges of all, the Swarm.

I am enjoying the world building Lynnea Lee does by bringing these characters together. Including bigots and radicals, which definitely provides that unfortunate reality to how humankind acts or would likely act given this kind of dystopian situation. I like how the hero/heroine characters show strength and vulnerability. The love scenes are sexy, but definitely sweet, loving dialogue, too. Overall, there is a very nice balance of adventure, challenges, one-on-one time with the main characters, and just the hint of what is next on the agenda for this series.

I highly recommend this series, especially this new book. If it is by Lynnea Lee, I don’t think you can go wrong. She has very quickly become one of my favorite authors. I do not hesitate to pick her books as they come, because I already know I am going to love it.

On a side note, this story inspired me to go on a downsizing, decluttering, and organizing binge! I had my own “garbage bag therapy” as our character, Natalie. :)

Rajiv'k is one of 10,000 cloned Xarc'n warriors genetically modified to be the ultimate fighters in the Xarc'n war against the scourge. He's not like most of the warriors, he has a creative, inventive mind and wants more for himself than mindless hunting of scourge.

The scourge were created by Xarc'n as a weapon but they lost control of them. Now their warriors go from world to world fighting to keep the scourge from eradicating other worlds. Their only purpose is to destroy the scourge before they wipe out another world. When they discovered Earth woman could trigger their mating bond, it gave them hope for their future.

When the scourge came to Earth, the Xarc'n came to help but too many humans believed they were the ones who sent the scourge. When mating bonds started to form, a faction violently against inter-species mingling arose as well. The Xarc'n not only have to battle the scourge but the anti-alien forces as well.

Natalie is human trying to survive in a world decimated by the scourge invasion. There are many dangers as she and her friend Alice struggle to survive until a group Xarc'n warriors take them under their protection. While she finds them wildly attractive, she can't imagine any of them wanting to keep her for their own.

Natalie and Rajiv'k are a little gobsmacked when they first laid eyes on each other. He wants her for his mate and she wants him to want to keep her. Natalie strikes a deal with Rajiv'k, her body for his protection, secretly hoping he won't want to let her go.

These two fit so well together, both are so inventive and creative and fiercely protective. He wanted more meaning in his life and she gave it to him in spades.

Engaging read, with alien bug battles, a budding romance, while facing off with suspicious, untrusting humans."

Wanted by the Hunter is the second book in the Xarc’n Warriors series by Lynnea Lee. It is a sweet and steamy romance with a few laugh out loud moments that keep this “bugocalyptic” romance squarely centered on the budding romance between Rajiv’k and Natalie, the hero and heroine of this story as they continue the battle against the alien invader known as the Scourge. The world building was good and the story flowed well. All of the relevant details and ‘scientific’ information made sense within the context of this Xarc’n/Human setting.

I actually enjoyed this book more than the first, which I think is because I genuinely preferred the heroine in this story. She was not as self centered and immature as Alice, the heroine in the first book. I liked the fact that the couple from the first book, Kaj’k and Alice, was included in this story as more than just part of the setting or a name thrown out as a means to bridge the two stories. Both couples are key players in the overarching story, but Rajiv’k and Natalie are the stars of this love story. Since this is a series, the overall story is not complete, but Rajiv’k and Natalie do have their happy ending. The Scourge, however, do live to fight another day and will no doubt continue to cause problems for our Xarc’n warriors and their human mates.

This book is a keeper! I definitely recommend it, as well as the first book in the series. I look forward to reading the stories of the other Xarc’n warriors and their human mates!

DISCLAIMER: I received an advanced free copy of this book for review via Booksprout. This is a fair and honest review. I really did enjoy this book and intend to read any future installments in this series.

Not as good as the first one

Sum: Natalie is Alice's cousin from book 1, the year before she hurt her leg from a bug wound. It's been pretty much dead-wood since. Once they lost their home to raiders, Kaj'k, Alice's mate takes both girls away to safety, even finds a potential mate for Natalie, named Rajiv'k. She boards his shuttle since they're small and teases him because she thinks he's hot and it's been a minute since she's gotten some. But Raj doesn't just want some, he wants all, though his mate bond isn't kicking in like he thought it would since he is obsessed with her smell. They strike a bargain, touches and kisses in exchange for him fixing her bum leg...only I don't think either really know what they bargained for really.

What I did like: Both characters were weirdly shy and it sometimes worked, despite Raj messing up here and there he always had her safety as number one, and even though her leg was bum, she never let it slow her down on what she was capable of or used ideas as a way to help when her body could not.

What I did NOT like: She thought she was ruined because of her leg and used that to push Raj away initially, even though she cared for him, she even teased him sexually that I found cruel. Raj also pushed her away, although for her safety, he should have just been honest...but I mean it wasn't like she was being honest either...just wanted more from both of them I guess.

So glad this is fiction ... especially with the latest evolution.

Written for mature readers only (18+ years old) due to subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence with Xarc’n warriors against bugs and men in a fight for the planet and galaxy.

This is the second story in the series and I highly recommend these stories be read in series order as there are reoccurring characters and an overall storyline arc, plus the story universe and characters will not be as in-depth.

There are a few grammatical issues in this story, mainly with additional words missing or inserted. I gave this 5 stars because the storyline is quite inventive with the “bugpocolypse” and the new variations really added depth to the universe for some reason.

The world of Xarc was destroyed by engineered weapons by its scientists. They created the warriors to eradicate the swarms, but they were too late to save their home world, so now the swarms and warriors travel to different worlds throughout the galaxy fighting to destroy / save each of them.

This story focuses on Natalie, a human female injured by one of the alien insects, and Raviv’k, a Xarc’n warrior. They both share a love of research, tinkering, and just generally being creative, so this in addition to previous injuries by the swarms for both of them and a sizzling attraction, provide an opportunity for a bond to grow. Now if they can just find a way forward against the latest evolution and the hatred / bigotry of others ...

It's Natalie's turn to find her special hunky warrior and he's a sweetheart. But then, aren't they all? So far, at least. I mean, the odds are good that at least one of them will probably be a grump, but they've only been focused, ferocious fighters who fall and fall hard thus far.

So. Natalie and Rajiv'k. She's a fast-thinking lady with an injured leg who doesn't believe the rumors about the hunters IN THE LEAST. In fact, even before meeting them in the flesh, she was 100% Team Hunter. Coming face to face with one (or several) doesn't dampen her enthusiasm in the slightest. Which works nicely because these aliens REALLY like their special human ladies.

As for Rajiv'k, he's a bit of an outlier among the other hunters. He's good at tinkering and cobbling together better weapons to fight the scourge. He fights because he has to, not because he loves it. Until Natalie comes along, that is, and he suddenly has something worth fighting for.

Throw in some nasty humans who don't like the idea of aliens taking human women (because fighting bugs isn't enough, right?), a plan to wipe out the scourge in the city, a few encounters with new bugs, and a misunderstanding or two and there's a whole lot these guys are dealing with. You know, on top of finding their special someone and figuring out how to make things work.

Bottom line: I like these alien warriors and the ladies who capture their hearts.

Sweet yet underworked.
Natalie and Rajiv'k have two things in common. One, their love for learning, and two their injuries which resulted in some semi-permanent disabilities.
Natalie was attacked by a scourge, the result leaving her right leg atrophied and useless. This has become a source of tension and pain for her in the story as she feels that she weakens her cousin's chances of survival. But when an alien warrior claims her cousin he steers her to her own, one who just may be able to help her.
Rajiv'k is different from other warriors. He has always wanted to create, invent, and challenge his mind to discover new solutions. These desires make him feel ostracized. Warriors were genetically engineered to be the perfect hunters, their sole purpose was to kill and eliminate the scourge but he wants something more. When he meets Natalie, he can finally name that feeling.
He would do anything to help her, but helping her isn't the only thing he wants, he wants to keep her.
Their story has a wonderful start and I'm a sucker for a disabled heroine, However, like with the last book it feels like the elements of their coming together could have been fleshed out better along with Rajiv'k's uncomfortablility with being different.
The small third act breaking apart could have also been drawn out or worked out in a way where it didn't feel like they made up five minutes right after, it cut the tension off.
Understand that these books are short reads I feel are meant to be fun with splashes of romance, survival, and spice.

Second Xarc'n warrior finds love

I was hooked on this series after reading a preview of book 1 and was so excited to get book 2. I think it can be read as a stand alone, but is so much better after book 1.

Book 2 tells the story of Natalie, Alice from book 1's cousin, and Rajiv'k, a hunter friend of Alice's Xarc'n mate, Kaj'k.

There is a small but great overlap with book 1 at the beginning of the story where we go back and get to see the characters meet for the first time from their perspectives.

Natalie is open and practical about the Xarc'n- she doesn't believe the rumors that they brought the scourge or are controlling them. After two bad relationships with human men, she is more than willing to look for love from a non human source.

Rajiv'k is not satisfied by his job of killing scourge day after day. He needs something to fight for. Natalie may just be it.

A great and quick read. I loved how there continued to be more story after I thought it was going to be done - not just a straight forward fall in love story. There is danger and intrigue as well as hot intimacy.

I have enjoyed several of Lynnea's stories and this one is right up there as one I will enjoy returning to again and again.

Wanted by the Hunter is a really good post-apocalyptic story. I really like the world Lynnea Lee built for this series. Giant bugs from outer space have taken over the Earth and destroyed civilization. The humans that are still alive live in constant fear of these bugs and would have eventually all died if not for the Xarc’n hunters. These alien hunters came to Earth in hopes of saving the planet from the bug scourge. Xarc’n hunters are a dying race with no females of their species left to mate. They discover that they are able to form mate bonds with human women. Our heroine, Natalie, thinks she wants to bag herself an alien hunter for the sake of protection. She meets Rajiv’k and thinks that her protection problems are solved. However, she is not sure she wants to put her heart out there to be potentially broken if her alien decides he doesn't want her after all. Natalie and Rajiv’k had some seriously entertaining adventures on that road to their HEA. I found this story to be funny, hot, sweet, and action-packed. Both Natalie and Rajiv’k were very likable characters. I highly recommend this story.

4 Fabulous 🌟for the Xarc'n Warriors book 2

Rajiv’k is a lonely hunter who wants more out of his existence that fighting and killing the Scourge. He has so many ideas and he loves to create and build new things. He also just wants a mate to call his own. When a fellow hunter asks for his help he readily says yes. He's been asked to care for a human female. The minute he sees her and smells her he knows instinctively that she is his mate. Convincing the feisty Natalie that she belongs to him is a whole other challenge. Natalie is Alice's family from the first book. She was injured and could help with foraging but she has ideas , she knows how to problem solve and does not give up easily. When she meets Rajiv’k she wants him but she doesn't want to get too attached because of her horrible last with men.She thinks she can have him and not give her heart. Natalie learns quickly that her heart is built for love and this Xarc'n warrior won't give up until she belongs to him and only him. Fun fact paced story that confine the fight with the insect like scourge trying to ruin the Earth the warriors trying to save it and the women who call for them. Great read!💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

So after reading the first book I needed to read more so here is book two in the Xarc'n Warrior series. So here we have Natalie and Rajiv'k coming together. So we met these two in the first book. Nat is Alice's cousin and Rajiv'k is Kaj'k fellow warrior friend. So Natalie has been all for the aliens to help them expunge the bugs. However she has also been interesting in them by their looks too. Who would want to pass up a tall, muscle all over, and fighter alien. So when she is told that she will be teaming up the Rajiv'k she did not hesitate. However, because of her past she is hesitant for anything more than fun. Rajiv'k caught her scent and something stirs? Could it be a mate bond? These two have a lot in common. One being that they have been injured by the bugs. But with Rajiv'k he heals form the injuries and offers to try and heal Natalie. This will be awesome if he pulls it off. Lets touch on this chemistry with these two. She is very upfront with him about what she wants and at first he seemed a bit shocked but he isn't going to pass it up. Now it is only a matter of time before feelings appear. What will it take for her to finally let go of her fears and accept what her knight in a loincloth is willing to give her. Check it out to see how it all plays out.

Bugs, Bugs, Bugs! They taken over the world. Where's my giant bug swatter? Oh, here he comes - Rajiv’k, Xarc’n hunter, to save the day. This enjoyable story is about Natalie a cousin of Alice. Together they set up a refuge and garden until Alice met Kaj'k and a rogue gang of men took over their refuge from the previous book (Claimed By the Hunter). During one of their forages for food Natalie was hurt and Kaj'k calls a fellow hunter, Rajiv'k, to his ship to see if he can help her damaged leg. Rajiv'k takes one look at her and realizes she's his mate and carries her to his ship. Natalie was always rooting for the Xarc’n hunters, which was against the government propaganda that claimed it was the hunters that brought the Bugs, now has her heart desire - a protector. Rajiv'k who has become disillusioned with his life, now has something to fight for - protecting his mate. Both have a lot to overcome in this Post-Apocalyptic Alien Romance with battles, romance, angst, and more insight of the world they are trying to save. This was another engaging story in this series, with likable characters, great world building and a well written story I volunteer to read and review via Booksprout.

I adored this book and wanted to hear more of Natalie's ideas!
Natalie was very relatable for me personally - creative and knowledgeable, but physically, not able to do much. A frustrating place to be even when not in an apocalypse. Rajiv'k is strong and more than capable, but sees himself a bit like Natalie. He's creative and crafty, but an injury makes him slower than his fellow hunters. But he has the adaptability of a human, and uses the resources around him to create things to help him fight the Scourge. These inventions end up helping all hunters. (Demonstrating well that accommodations and accessibility are beneficial to all, abled and disabled alike).

Bigotry and evolving giant bugs are the biggest threat to this growing community, While others are creating a place to live and finding love, others are stewing in their sexism, racism, and xenophobia. Even with some of that bigotry being within their own group, this team is strong and quickly form strong ties to those who want a peaceful peaceful life.

I was sent a copy of this book in exhange for an honest review.
In this 2nd book in the series we are told Natalie's story and how her friendship with Rajiv'k progresses. He's a bit of a dark horse in that he has knowledge of stuff that help those near him medically and he immediately takes an interest in Natalie's bad leg - poisoned by a nasty stinging critter similar to a scorpion. She's stubborn, as we found out n the previous book and poor Rajiv'k has his work cut out for him, but he very quickly learns that even though Natalie is impaired mobility wise, she's a little fireball and doesn't walk (or in her case - limp) away from anything. The respect Rajiv'k feels for her grows and given the circumstances they are in with all the external dangers around them, I'm surprised they find time for anything except fighting to stay alive. But a beautiful story emerges and I am just as hooked on this story as I was with Alice. I now look forward to Cynthia.

Natalie and her cousin Alice have been surviving on their own following the Bugpocalypse that is destroying earth. Their only hope for survival is to work with the Hunters from Xarc’n that were sent to help them. But of course the government thinks they know better and a lot of humans blame the Hunters for the bugs arrival. When the Hunters learn they are compatible with the female humans and they activate their mating bond, they have even more reason to stick around! Natalie meets Rajiv’k when he comes to escort her to their compound. He immediately knows she is his mate but she is not so sure.

This is not just a journey of love but also delves into the events and attitudes of the humans towards another species and learning to work together for survival. A very good book.

Love this series. Each story unique. Each with a great HEA.
All action packed and just the right amount of steam. World building is phenomenal.
Love Natalie. Feisty and confident and with lots of crazy but workable ideas to help fight the "bugs". She is looking for a mate, a partner within the warriors group. One who will treasure her and not smoother her with orders. After all she's not going to listen or obey them unless they make sense. Her past is filled with pain from her past relationships.
Rajiv'k is different than the other warriors. He likes to invent helpful devices. He's a great fighter like the other warriors, but he has a different mindset.
They have their problems to solve and eventually figure things out. Loved how they accomplished that.
I would recommend his series.

Natalie and her cousin Alice have survived so far despite the bugs destroying Earth. Fortunately, Hunters from Xarc’n were sent to help them. The Hunters have new hope for their own people as well when they find out they are compatible with human females. Their mating bonds will react to their mates.

When Natalie and Rajiv’k meet as he arrives to take her to the compound, he knows right away that they are mates. Natalie, however, has had a bad history and does not want to trust her heart to anyone. She wants his protection in return for her companionship. Having her in his life gives him a reason to fight and protect. She is exactly what he needed to get over his discouragement and disillusionment at fighting for worlds that meant nothing to him. Now all he has to do is convince her she is his and he is hers. Can she learn to trust him and get over her fear of commitment?

The hunter, Rajiv'k, has come to join a group of hunters and humans to fight the summer swarm of bugs.

Rajiv'k is a tinkerer, a male with a scientific bent to make it easier to kill the bugs that have swarmed over Earth, and destroyed a great deal of it. Natalie is the sister of another hunter's mate, and it only takes Rajiv'k one look to know he wants her for his mate, they are much alike, lots of ideas and full of ways to improve what they have. But there are other humans that hate the hunters and blame them for the advent of the bugs. hate them enough to kill the hunters and even those human women who have found mates in their ranks. Can they protect themselves and the humans from the upcoming swarm of bugs, the current crop of bugs constantly attacking, and the humans determined to destroy them and their mates?

Natalie and Alice have been hiding from alien bugs that have invaded the Earth. Xarc’n hunters have also landed on Earth, offering to help us fight the bugs. Xarc’n hunters are male warriors that were created specifically to fight the bugs. Rajiv’k is a Xarc’n hunter and has spent his life going from planet to planet hunting the bugs and is bored with his life. But Earth has offered new opportunities. Their females can become mates, someone to care for and protect.
This is book 2 in the series, and you can read it on its own but I would recommend reading the first story. I really enjoyed the way their relationship developed and the appearance of characters I already knew from the first story.

Nat has had a lot of bad experiences with men and as soon as she felt that she had got close and was cared for by them, they basically dropped her. While she likes Rajiv'k she is prepared to leave herself open to being hurt. He meanwhil is quietly confident that she is meant to be his despite not trigerring the mating bond. Nat has been hurt and he offers to heal her and they strike upon a deal. Things take a turn for the worse not only with the scourge but with human males who are determined that any women with a Xarc warrior has been sullied and should be shown the error of her ways. With all this push them together or further apart.

I really enjoyed this book. The romance was great. The world-building just keeps getting better. I liked the variation in the storyline. Sometimes serials can fall into a bit of a rut with just a recounting of the same formula, but there was enough variation in this book to keep things fresh.
Natalie is a great character. I liked how excited she gets throwing out her ideas to help make a home for her and her cousin Alice with these alien warriors.

Rajiv'k is both a hunter and an inventor, which is unusual for his race of cloned hunters. Between Natalie and him they will be able to make their new home sustainable for the future. Again there was lots of action and a sweet romance - with lots of sex - but still sweet.

Looking forward to the next.
