Mr. Sin

I should have run the other way. Paid my tab and gone back to my room. But he was there. And he was… everything. I figured what’s the harm in letting passion rule my decisions for one night? So what if he looks like the Devil in a suit. I’d be leaving in the morning. Flying home, back to my pleasant but predictable life. I’d never see him again.

Except I do. In the last place I expected. And now everything I’ve worked so hard for is in jeopardy.

We can’t stop what we’ve started, but this is bigger than the two of us.

And when his past comes back to haunt him, love might not be enough to save me.

Just no.

It was good for like point two seconds. So much drama and unnecessary arguments for what?! And all this within 30% of the book. Like no sweetie, save some for the third act pls.

Ugh someone get me an ibuprofen 💆🏻‍♀️

I enjoyed this. It was a pretty low angst book with some good chemistry and 🔥 not to mention a steamroller H who I do love.

I did enjoy the beginning a lot more with the tension but felt like the h gave in a bit too easily for my liking and then after that the story kind of stalled and went into insta love territory with not much happening around the middle part. It did pick up again towards the end though.

I think this is this authors first book and I'll definitely be checking out her other stuff as I think she definitely can write and I enjoyed the extra details she put in about the h's job which was refreshing to not have a h who is in some ambiguous "office" job.

If you're after a low angst, steamy romance with a bulldozer H and and h who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to go for it then I recommend you give this book a try.

I'll be honest, when I first started this I almost dropped it and moved onto something else. Not because it was bad, but I felt like it was going to be another carbon copy of the big, bad, alpha who won't commit because blah.. blah.. blah. Obviously, I've read too many of these and they just don't really appeal to me anymore. However, I kept reading and I'm happy to say that it started to become more for me.

While I read for the hero, it was actually the heroine that kept me reading. When a heroine blasts a hero for being a jerk and doesn't fall at his feet, you have my attention. If she hadn't done that then I would have dropped this book, and I'm really glad that I didn't.

Turns out Vincent ended up being completely obsessed with Sasha. He was so overprotective but in a good way, not a cheesy way. He was bossy but not domineering. He's the kind of alpha I like to read...once we got past the no commitment thing.

When you get to the ending and you wish there were more, then the book was successful.

MMC has a child... and it took away from the romance, as I expected it would when I found out. Ugh!! Which is exactly one the many reasons why I don't like the single parent trope.

Every time the mmc was like "annie is the most important person/girl" in my life, I rolled my eyes, because he is supposed to be saying this about the fmc!

I am here for romance!

I DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR CHILD, SIR!

This is a one-star because of that, but also because the fmc keeps praising him for things that single mothers do all the time without effort...

Gurl, why are you praising this man for basically raising his child? He is SUPPOSED to be doing these bare minimum stuff... hanging her ugly shit she drew on his walls, picking her up from school etc... why are you impressed by this lmao?!

This is so boring...!

Also i HATED the scene where Annie, the daughter got her period and the mmc rushed to the heroine after they had a fight where he humiliated her...

cause thats just an excuse for the heroine to melt about the fact that he "trusted" her with his daughter... right after he was mean to her in an earlier scene.

Which means no grovel!!! I mean, he apologized a little but she forgives him immediately and jumps into bed with him.

Sir, if your daughter has her period, as a father, you should have been prepared, having done all the research needed to take care of it... not rely on another woman who is not your child's mother to teach your daughter period stuff!!!

He's not a good father!

Ugh! What do i need to do to find a good romance book around here?!

DNF - at 50% - tried for the 2nd time. Still not feeling any chemistry. Yep... they smash genitals, but not much happening beyond that. She’s way too much of a ball-buster to me, and he’s got a kid... Not a fan. I guess it’s just not for me. I TRIED. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤣

DNF - older aggressively promiscuous h - ready for a one night stand with a complete stranger she meets at a bar after a very short and not very interesting conversation - not an ounce of sexual tension - not for me.

What is it with women in these types of novels and their refusal to get a bodyguard? It's like saying ''i know there might be a serial killer at loose, who is stalking me, who just broke in my apartment, is hell bent on killing me and I know a bodyguard will be good for me and who can protect me and save my life but how will I explain this to my co-workers?" 💀

Anyways, I'm loving S.J Tilly books these days. I just don't know but want to know about the side characters that I'm falling in love with, will ever get their stories or not.

Because every time I get intrigued by a side character, I look it up and see the series has ended and that character didn't get his story as of yet :(

Well, atleast John (h brother) has a book. My next read :D

Deducting two stars because I'm kind of fed up with the constant labelling of a hot billionaire CEO "the devil" like he is a dark broady mafia boss of an actual dark romance.
Despite there being a organised crime background of the H, he himself was no crime lord. No need to make him the devil incarnate even he knows he is not.

It’s soooo good!! The plot isn’t unusual but the writing is engaging, the characters are fully fleshed out, there’s a bit of suspense but heavy on the romance and there’s hot sexy times 🔥 too. I looove Mr Sin and I love Sasha too. Annie and Captain stole my heart though. Can’t believe this is a debut novel, well done Ms S.J. Tilly!

Mr. Sin

“I know what you’re thinking. You think I’m not serious. You think that I might change my mind. That I don’t have enough experience with relationships. But sweetheart, I don’t need experience, I just need you. And I don’t need a single minute more to know that you’re the one I want. The one I love. The one I fucking need.”

4.5 stars for this sexy, somewhat suspenseful story

Right from the beginning, Sasha and Vincent had extreme, sexy chemistry, and it continued until the end.

Sasha goes to Vegas, and when she’s relaxing, decides to go to a bar. She hasn’t been with anyone in a while and this is her chance to sin a little bit. At the bar, a man tries to be too grabby, too insistent with her, and this is where Vincent makes an appearance. After he saves her, their connection is instant, and they go to his room and have a one night stand.

Time passes, and they both can’t stop thinking about each other. They did find out each other‘s names, but no last names. Back in Minnesota, Sasha is part of a PR agency that is set to clean up the image of Mr. Sin, who ends up being Vincent. They try to stay away from each other, but they just can’t help gravitating and giving in to their chemistry. Vincent‘s father was part of a mob/mafia group and Vincent wants to have a different image from that. Also, he has a daughter that he doesn’t want to be affected by it. That’s why Sasha and her team need ensure that this happens.

Behind the scenes, Vincents crazy ex brother-in-law makes an appearance and is threatening not only his daughter but Sasha as well.

The connection between Sasha and Vincent was 🥵🔥. Right from the first page, they had this raw electricity that was explosive. I loved reading the times where they were together, whether they were intimate or just having conversations. There’s a deeper level to Vincent and his past, which was pretty scary and explains why he’s so protective of his love ones. Witnessing the death of his father was traumatic and it still affects him 30 years later.

There are suspenseful moments that take place. I wish the ending wasn’t so rushed. I would’ve preferred some of the other details throughout the book to be glossed over and not the ending. It was a good read, and I’ll probably end up reading the second book.

Mr. Sin or Mr. Sweet???

This guy, Mr. Sin in the looks department and in the bedroom.

"You're going to do what I tell you to do, sweetheart. Or so help me god, I will smack your ass red until you learn to listen."

And he's all awesome dad, compassionate, talk on the phone until you fall asleep, caring man.

"The movie credits start to run as I watch my two girls sleep on the couch. My girls."

I mean you can't get a much better mix of ex mafia family, seriously over protective alpha male who's a softie on the inside.

"...if you so much as lay an inappropriate finger on Sasha, I'll castrate you myself and sink your body in the Mississippi."

Well, a softie for his girls that is.

Be ready to swoon and melt and laugh and sigh.

It's office romance, one night stand that lasts, single dad, alpha, full of heart, kidnapping, shooting, stair climbing suspenseful goodness with a strong heroine, a spitfire, witty 11 year old girl, a wise grandma, a hulking uncle, and a body guard who I hope gets his own book someday, and lets not forget the fat cat.

Well written romance

This is a well written romance with nice amount of steam and a storyline that works well. It follows Sasha and Vincent who have a hot one-night stand only to realise that Vincent is Sasha's new billionaire client. And Sasha's company has a strict "no fraternising with the clients" rule...

2.5 i personally find the authors writing mediocre. it didn’t draw me in to the point where i wanted to keep reading. i still did push through to finish it, and it wasn’t a bad story, but it wasn’t that amazing either. if i was to be given a word to describe this book i’d say it was meh.

Really enjoyed the hell out of this.

“What would I ever do without you?” I ask.

His hand slips around my waist and pulls me tight against his side. “Doesn’t matter, sweetheart. Because you’ll always have me.”

Sweetheart will always be the most superior pet name to me🤌

Loved the characters individually as well as together which is pretty rare so definitely recommend this.

This had the soapy brand of drama that would not be out of place in a fanfiction... I loved it.

Steamy, fast-paced, with angsty pangs. The FMC's quips made me laugh but she wasn't overly "spirited", and the MMC was kind of an asshole but quickly felt guilty about it (my favourite kind of asshole MMC). ✅✅✅

My Review:
4.4 ⭐️ 3.8🌶️

Sasha’s Vegas one-night stand with a devilishly hot stranger should’ve been a fun blip on her radar. But surprise! Mr. Sin (aka Vincent) shows up later as her new boss—and boy, does he come with baggage, drama, and major alpha energy.

This book? Absolute fire. Sasha is a queen of sass and strength, serving clapbacks and independence like it’s her day job. Vincent? The broody, possessive ex-mafia boss you’ll love to hate… and then just love. The spice is chef’s kiss, the banter will have you giggling, and the drama? Deliciously unhinged.

Family feels? Check. Enemies-to-lovers vibes? Oh, yeah. Strong FMC who takes zero crap? Sasha’s your girl. Do yourself a favor: skip sleep and binge this gem. S.J. Tilly, take a bow—you crushed it.

Yes. He is everything. She is everything. Together> they are going to take over the world. It's been a long time (well, since I read The Alliance) since I picked up a book and read it in one day. It was amazing, everything about it, the dialogue, the characters, the plot, the atmosphere, everything! I can't wait to read about Angelo and John!

Quickie Review (May contain spoilers, fair warning upon reading this review.)

Mr Sin was a delightful story and I did have a fun time with this one. The premise between them was interesting. I didn't really understand the angst that developed between these two though. It just didn't make sense to me. It kinda felt like the drama was used as a filler for the story. The spice was top notch and I enjoyed the relationship between the hero and his daughter. There is something precious about a single father of a little girl. Some of the writing in this one could have been better though. I just wasn't a fan of how preachy the author gets in this one for certain feminist politics. Just rubbed me the wrong way in how it was written and did ruin my enjoyment of the story at times. But if you don't mind books getting preachy at times, then I do recommend it to you, just wasn't my taste. Will check out her older books as those most likely aren't as political but also didn't have the touch of Nero or Dom in it either. But still a solid read that I easily got swept into.

first review - February 3rd 2022 ⭐⭐⭐

To be honest I don't know if these 3 stars are enough or not. Like, I didn't hate this book but I didn't love it either. So maybe these 3 stars are more 3,5 but whatever.

So, what can I say about this story? There were some things that definitely made me cringe and that were totally unnecessary for me - for example, (it's really nothing big but ugh.. it makes me roll my eyes) every time Vincent said or thought "my sasha" it's just a big no (again, maybe I'm being too picky but it's something I can't control). However, I loved the fact that Vincent has a daughter (I'm s sucker for single mom/dad trope - especially single dad). I also loved the scenes between Sasha and her brother (I'm also a sucker for good relationships between siblings).

Vincent and Sasha's love story was good and I enjoyed it but not to the point that I fell in love with their relationship, you know? It was good but not THAT GOOD. The smut scenes were great hihi.

The couple: Vincent and Sasha

Romance genre: office romance
Series: Sin
Length: 335 pages

Plot: Sasha is in Vegas for work and on her one night off she meets Vincent, who takes her up to his room for a passionate one-night stand. When she gets back home and goes in for her new PR job, of course, her new boss is...Vincent. He's the son of a crime family that has gone legitimate; he's a single father; he's the man she shouldn't want but can't stop thinking about. Vincent hated that Sasha snuck out of his bed in Vegas, but now he has her just where he wants her if he can only stay out of his own way.

Commentary: I did like this one, but I think the aspect I liked the most was the relationship between Sasha and Vincent's daughter, Annie. I also liked that Vincent wasn't afraid to show emotion (or rather, he couldn't seem to help himself when hearing/seeing the interactions between Annie and Sasha and noting the ways that Sasha brought out the little girl in Annie that really needed a mother). Sasha and Vincent's interactions were definitely steamy but that wasn't all there was to their relationship -it was well-rounded and allowed us to see the character development of both of them.
This book definitely made me want to read more from this author.

Best lines:
“Is anyone else in the home with you?” She asks.
“No.” I shake my head. Then I remember. “My cat! Oh god, what if he hurts my cat!”
“Try to stay calm, Miss Clark.”
“But what if he takes Captain?” I cry.
The woman’s voice remains steady. “Have you ever tried to pick up a cat that doesn’t want to be grabbed?”
I almost laugh but it turns into a choked sob. “Yes.”
“Your cat will be okay. The police are almost there. Where are you in the apartment? Are you secure?”

Next book in the series: Sin Too
