It's love or nothing…

All Amandine Monroe ever wanted was to fit in with her glamorous and wealthy in-laws and live happily ever after with her irresistible billionaire husband Gavin Lloyd. Three years after the wedding, she's still nowhere near fitting in with her in-laws, and Gavin has given her everything—except his heart.

When she finds out she's pregnant, she decides she can't raise her child in a home devoid of love. If she can't have Gavin's heart, only a divorce will do.

Possessive and driven, Gavin won't let the only woman he truly cares for walk away without a fight. He demands full custody of their child or a chance for them to reconcile.

Saving their troubled marriage will require more than expensive gifts and a second honeymoon. If Amandine and Gavin can't overcome their pride and private fears, they'll have to let go of each other forever…

The whole basis of this book centers around miscommunication so if that’s not for you I would skip this.

The story started off pretty strong. Then halfway through the book the repetitiveness just got annoying. One of the couples main issues was that the h (Amandine) didn’t believe the H (Gavin) truly loved her. The H was told what the issue in the relationship was quite a few times and his inner monologues showed his awareness that he wasn’t showing the h he loved her but every time he still continued with his bullshit of “I give her all the material things she could ever need, what more can I give her”. I mean, I don’t know maybe listen to her and everyone else and actually be around.

The ending was the final straw. The resolution was a let down. You’d think that after all that Gavin would have realized how he messed up and try to get Amandine back, but nope. He was ready to let her go and had Amandine not concocted a plan to get him to talk to her, after he refused to see her, nothing would have happened. It was such a let down. Even at the end the couple didn’t really talk about their issues, Gavin didn’t apologize for how he messed up and everything was magically resolved.

I feel like I’ve read a HP very similar to this. Couple have been married for several years, the husband works a lot running his empire but lavishes his wife with gifts and treats her well (great sex life, affectionate, etc.) but never says those three little words.

This was a frustrating read for me. It started out strong. I was right with her with her fury over his dumbass decision to visit his SIL (having a breakdown) on their anniversary, but I didn’t understand why he couldn’t understand his mistake or why she was upset.

Then, I felt like both their actions became annoying and repetitive. I wanted to smack them both in the back of their heads as we’re stuck in their inner thought loops going over the same crap again and again and again, but neither making any effort to communicate or reflect on the situation. God forbid you try a different approach.

Amandine put too much importance on the ILY when his actions showed he cared. She was also obsessed with having this perfect marriage she thought her parents had when all evidence showed otherwise. She was so busy feeling sorry for herself that she never looked at her blessings. Sure, it sucks to have a workaholic spouse, but there’re plenty of jobs/circumstances that require people to work long hours. And let’s face it, she had it much better with her cook, housekeeper, private plane, BFF assistant, etc. than someone whose spouse is working long hours just to stay afloat.

Gavin for being a tycoon was quite clueless and non-alpha... and a smidge stupid. The man has no fight in him, it was so frustrating. They were both Eeyore’s which made for a dull read.

Bottom Line- I wasn’t impressed and won’t be continuing the series. It looks like the ex-SIL gets her own book, but I thought she was a witch and am not interested in her redemption tour. It was way too long for the storyline and things became repetitive with too much inaction. I needed more than insecurities and lack of communication to keep it going. The blurb was a bit misleading, there isn’t any family drama or OW drama. She’s not hated by his family, and no one is trying to get into Gavin’s pants.

Made the mistake of not reading the reviews

The first couple of chapters where good when everything started going downhill. And the reason has only one name GAVIN

Spoilers are going to start here so if you don’t want any please don’t read.

He’s a misogynistic a-hole who thinks if he gifts his wife pretty and expensive stuff he’ll be forgiven of forgetting her birthday and anniversary. And then when Amandine asked him for a divorce he has the audacity of saying that he gave her everything, why would she want to divorce him?

Literally made me so mad I couldn’t even finish it, and when he kept saying that he wanted to keep her because if she divorced him it would be a failure and he doesn’t do failures like WTF. If that is the way he thought about her it was no wonder Amandine wanted to get her child away from him.

And when he said when she gave him a chance at reconciliation that he wanted sex because it’s probably one of the only things that could save their marriage, PERSONALLY I WOULD NOT LET THAT SLIDE. And he never in their THREE years of marriage said the words I love you, and when Amendine asked him why did he wanted to reconciliate, he said and I quote “Because we like eachother” and then excused that it is enough for the marriage unbeknownst that Amandine had loved him since the first time she saw him. Watch me about to smack that Motherf*cker, like that’s definitely not something you are suppose to say to your wife that wants a divorce because for your neglectful personality,
Honestly praise my girl Amandine for not slapping him right there. AND THEN, because I’m not done, he proceeded to announce that if she didn’t give him a chance he would take their unborn baby away from her as soon as it was born, LIKE HUH??? BITCH? DONT PLAY WITH ME, I WILL DRAG YOU.

Honestly one of the most stupidest ML’s I’ve read and I’ve read a lot of books with second chance trope. And what’s up about the FL cousin Catherine, like he flew all over across the country on his ANNIVERSARY to help his ex girlfriend while his WIFE was waiting for him at the restaurant, and then he is surprised when Amandine is mad at him for choosing her cousin over her, like BFFR.

I am usually very generous with stars, I give five stars to the books I like no matter if they made me mad sometimes. But this book made me mad MAD. And I also never DNF books because honestly it just feels like a waste of space but I couldn’t keep reading it it felt like my brain was getting stupider just reading it.

I got sucked in by TikTok again. I didn't go in thinking this was going to be a soul crusher...but I did have higher expectations than this.

It was fine, a very one dimensional story.

just making this to remind myself to never trust booktok no matter how nice it sounds lol.

i really expected angst and at least some grovelling but damn. i never wanted to read any books related to mafia or billionaires and decided to just try it cos why not right. welps. i gotta trust myself LOL.

anyway, i feel like the FL gives in too much and the ML lets go without trying much.

i only enjoyed the part where they are apart and he’s hurt and even then it’s 1-2 stars for me. so yeah.

Just no there there.

Hero is a multi-billionaire whose advice to his brother on romance is just buy an island and bury a ring so the gf can find it, or buy his wife a plane then not show up for the anniversary dinner. The money issue was just too much and too forced. Ah well, luckily these two dumb clucks will have the money to hire a cadre of nannies. Poor kid!

Oh, the biggest reader betrayal of all. The potential evil OW is redeemed. WTH? Don't redeem them; make them suffer!

Communication people

Crazy story about a couple whose marriage is on the rocks because she thinks he doesn't love her. He's always late for stuff, and sometimes he just doesn't show up. He then buys her extravagant gifts thinking it'll make her happy. But all she wants is his love. And he does love her i think, but he's an idiot and never says it. He thinks money buys happiness. He is clueless, and doesn't realize what he has. He's always working and never spends quality time with her. She finds out she's pregnant but he is too busy to talk to her. Just everything boils over on their anniversary and she asks for a divorce. He kind of pissed me off over the divorce thing but after much miscommunication, they finally see the light. Both of them.

I wonder how these two got married considering they don't talk to each other at all. I did understand Amandine's lack of communication at times because it seems like she'd been essentially ignored for most of their marriage, and whenever she did try to express herself, she was just shut up with another gift, so why continue to try? But I can admit that a lot of that was just projection on my own part, and not a dynamic that was actually properly explored. Gavin sure was something, but also very much left underdeveloped. I think as a whole this had potential, but didn't go past its marketable tropes.

i don't know where to start. the man was so obnoxiously oblivious. he buys her a private jet for their anniversary but then he leaves her for an "emergency" and goes to his ex's house and misses their anniversary dinner and loses his wedding ring at her house and he's genuinely surprised why she wants a divorce???? and the misogyny in this book was insane "all women like expensive gifts like jewelry why doesn't she appreciate what i give her" like hello?????? it was my fault for listening to tiktok

"You didn’t marry Amandine because she was just like every other woman out there. So don’t give her what you would give every other woman out there.”

This is a marriage in crisis/trouble romance with a baby on the way. The writing was engaging and the plot was interesting but still I felt like it lacked something. Gavin was so oblivious and it took his so long to figure out what Amandine's problem with their marriage actually was. All of this could've been avoided if Amandine just voiced it out but that obviously did not happen. Also the book had no epilogue and ended immediately after they reconciled.

"We made a baby together," Gavin said. "Doesn't that mean anything?"

"Does it to you?" Amandine asked.

What You'll Find:
✔️Billionaire Romance
✔️Marriage In Trouble
✔️Surprise Pregnancy
✔️Dual POV

I really wanted to like this one, it has tropes I love. But to be honest I'm really not sure how I finished this one. I kept hoping it would get better. That the heroine would communicate. That the hero would BE better- I did NOT like him. But that never happened. I didn't feel the romance in this one. It all felt undeveloped. Just not the read for me unfortunately.

P.s also how are these ppl rich??? Every character that was introduced that was also mega rich said the most ludicrous things ever, and not in a “oh I’m rich so i have the audacity” type of way but in a “i only finished kindergarten and failed to spell hello up until yesterday” way 💀

I enjoy Nadia Lee's writing: the dual povs (sometimes with an occasional third character's thrown in for fun), the third person narrative, and the overall safety factor (of the books that I've chosen to read anyway, I skip those of hers that aren't safe), but this one had too much miscommunication and lack of communication for me. Both MCs were decent people, but they were OTT not smart when it came to one another. And I thought maybe Ethan, this H's older brother from the previous story, was an anomaly in the Lloyd family, but why do both brothers equate sexual chemistry to strong feelings? Why do they both think of their respective hs, "She wouldn't react the way she does to me in bed if she didn't really like me, like a lot?" It just boggles the mind. Their parents had this epic love and seemed to be really normal. How could these two brothers really have no idea at all about what women want? Consider me confused.

Then there's the h who's just way too passive. Maybe it was the pregnancy hormones, but the Debbie Downer attitude started to grate after a while.

Anyhoo, I didn't like this one much. I was rooting for them, but in reality, I just found the drama of this story annoying and too easily solved.

The Unwanted Wife was one of my favorite reads last year and this sounded like it. Naturally, I had to read it.

This wasn't bad. It wasn't great either. The sad truth is...

It read more like a contemporary/harlequin romance than your typical NA. I feel like the author could have drawn out scenes/events/POVs more. The story could have done a lot better with more tension/build-up/angst.

The Billionaire's Baby, book 3 of the Seduced by the Billionaire series (Also goes by the title of "Redemption in Love", AS WELL AS "Pregnant with Her Billionaire Ex's Baby"), was about Gavin Lloyd, a billionaire financier, and his wife, Amandine Monroe Lloyd who, at the time the book started, had been married one day shy of three years.
The book's opening scene was of Amandine in the doctor's office as she learned that she was pregnant with Gavin's baby. Though she was excited about it, she wasn't certain how her husband would feel as they had never discussed having children. Since he didn't have time to talk to her when she called to tell him her news, she decided to tell him when he got home from work. But she was already asleep when he returned well past midnight. So, she decided the following day (which just so happened to be their third anniversary) that their celebration dinner that night would be a great time to tell him he was going to be a father. While he was gifting her a jet of her own, he took a phone call, after which he told her he needed to make an emergency trip to Texas but that he would be back in time to join her for dinner. However, he never showed. While she was waiting at the restaurant for him, the owner of the restaurant (who happened to be one of Gavin's best friends), sat down at the table with her and inadvertently told her the true reason he had to fly to Texas. Gavin's sister-in-law, Catherine, had learned earlier that day that her husband Jacob, Gavin's oldest sibling, had left her. (Apparently, Jacob had married another woman before he married Catherine...and had never divorced her. Therefore, he was a bigamist and she had never truly been married to the man). What made this worse for Amandine is that not only was Catherine HER cousin (who made her childhood miserable), but she was also Gavin's ex-girlfriend whom he almost married (but Catherine had left HIM for his older, more wealthy brother) before he and Amandine married. So through his best friend, Amandine learned her husband had lied to her about where he was going...and why. Amandine left the restaurant and went to her best friend's home because, if she returned home, the place would wreak from the smell of yellow roses...Catherine's favorite flower, which Gavin had ordered for their anniversary. She also didn't want to be there when her husband returned because she wasn't yet ready to confront him about his lies. Upon arriving at her friend's place, she let the entire story flow about how the night went...or didn't go. Unwilling to go home, Amandine spent the night at her friend's place.
As his plane landed back in L.A., Gavin was thinking of how much damage control was going to be needed to make his wife happy, because he knew he had messed up by missing their anniversary celebration. His thoughts were along the lines of giving her a yacht since he had just gotten her the plane. But first, he called his friend who owned the restaurant where they were supposed to have been celebrating earlier and finagled a luncheon reservation out of him. After the call ended, his phone buzzed with a message from Amandine telling him she was staying with her friend for the night. He messaged back an apology for missing dinner and informed her of the new lunch date. The only response he got in return was..."ok".
At lunch the next day, Gavin arrived late...as usual. When Amandine looked down at the table, she noticed he wasn't wearing his wedding ring and mentioned it to him. He told her he lost it. While doing some gardening...for Catherine. When he realized something was wrong, he asked her if she was alright. She started to say yes but then told him the truth...that no, she wasn't okay. He started to apologize and she said sorry wasn't going to do him any good at that point. He told her he knew and then started to tell her what he had in the works, but she cut him off and said she didn't want any more damned make-up gifts. Gavin tried to play it down, saying he was the only person who could do anything concerning Catherine, but Amandine had enough and told him that he would be hearing from her attorney. To say he was shocked would be stating it mildly. He tried to get her to stay, but she threatened to cause a scene. After she left, he went to the bar and talked with his friend, who pointed out to him that if Amandine had spent their anniversary with one of HER exes she almost married, GAVIN wouldn't have been happy to hear about that, who proved his friend correct by scowling at the idea.
Before Gavin could leave the office later, Amandine's brother, Pete (who worked for Gavin), showed up with dinner for the two of them, during which Gavin asked his brother-in-law what he would do if he and Amandine divorced. Pete stated that would only come about if Gavin himself caused the problem and/or initiated proceedings...or if he did something to kill her love for the man...because Amandine loved him so much. That made Gavin question whether or not that's what he had done.
After returning home, Gavin's housekeeper informed him that his wife had moved out, which floored him. He hadn't considered her doing that. He thought she was just throwing a fit to get him to do a grand apology before, once again, forgiving him for his actions. Gavin also figured she would just move to another bedroom while they worked things out. Then she handed him an official-looking envelope that she found on their bedroom floor. As he entered the bedroom, he prepared to be confronted with all of her things gone but was again shocked when he realized she had left...everything he had ever bought her behind, thus eradicating him from her life completely. Amandine had only taken the old clothes she had before they were married. It wasn't until he was undressing that he remembered the envelope he had been handed. He removed it from his pocket, not recognizing the logo, and opened it to find...the sonogram that the doctor had given his wife two days before. Gavin realized that Amandine was pregnant. Disregarding the lateness of the hour, Gavin called his wife and confronted her over the phone about the pregnancy. She told him to meet her the next day...and not to be late. He was, in fact, early for the first time since they had married.
Gavin tried to convince his wife that having a baby changed everything, that it was enough to keep them together. That and the fact that they LIKED each other...which was like another knife in Amandine's back. She said it wasn't enough, that she would not raise her child in a "cold, loveless household". Then he said that if she wanted to leave, fine, but that he would keep the baby once it was born...full custody. She told him the courts favored the mother. He told her to finish eating as she was now "eating for two". She asked how she was supposed to eat when he had just declared war on her. He said she was the only woman he knew "who could equate an attempt at reconciliation with a declaration of war. It's love, not war". At that statement, Amandine had enough and told him to prove it to her. He had to convince her the marriage would work and that she wasn't just staying for the baby's sake...and she said she wanted it in writing. He asked if she wanted an attorney involved, to which she said, "why not?". At that point, he returned her to her friend's home.
Amandine and her friend discussed the conversation she had just had with Gavin. Her friend said she should get the best attorney she could because Gavin wouldn't skimp on HIS attorney, and make HIM pay for it. She then recommended the best, most expensive divorce attorney money could buy. Amandine decided that she would take her friend's advice and messaged him before he could reach home, informing him about just who she wanted as her attorney and that she expected him to pay the attorney fees since he was the one forcing the issue. Gavin "was willing to put up with the farce to placate her", but he was certain of the outcome...she would eventually cave into his demands. It wasn't until he arrived back home and entered his bedroom that he noticed the yellow roses. He recalled his mother saying how she (his mother) detested them because they were the symbol of jealousy...and he then recalled they were not his wife's favorite flower...but that they WERE Catherine's favorite. So he opened the window and tossed them out, making a mental note to inform the florist to never again send yellow roses to his wife.
Less than a week later, Gavin and Amandine met at her attorney's office where he set his plan to woo his wife back into action. Gavin started the conversation by saying he didn't want the divorce, but to reconcile. When asked by her attorney what Amandine would get out of such a thing, he stated, "Avoiding personal defeat. A divorce is a failure". The attorney asked how long the attempt would be, and he demanded a year, to which Amandine objected and said three weeks should be more than enough time. He argued that they had been married for three years which should merit no less than a month per year. They ended up agreeing to four months to attempt a reconciliation...during which Gavin expected full husbandly rights and that she was to be "a loving and agreeable wife". (Let me take a moment here and state that they both were in agreement that Gavin had NEVER cheated on Amandine nor had she cheated on him.) At the end of the meeting, they had agreed that, if things did not work out between the two of them, Gavin would pay for all of Amandine's medical expenses, set up a sizable trust fund for the baby, and he would give up all parental rights (giving her full, sole custody), much to his attorney's disapproval. On his way out, Gavin unhappily told his wife, "you just raised the stakes to the point where I'd lose more than I could afford". (When Gavin's attorney asked him why he wanted to save his marriage so much, all he said in reply was "she's a good wife. Do I need any other reason?". But in his heart and his head, he knew it was more than that).
At this point of the story, Gavin went into full-blown reconciliation mode, with no holds barred. He was 100% determined to save his marriage, even to the point of taking an unspecified amount of time off work to take his wife to Thailand for a "second honeymoon".
Okay, so all of that sets the scene for the rest of the book. With Gavin in reconciliation mode. However, many outside obstacles popped up along the way that tried to hinder the recovery between him and Amandine. With the oldest sibling in the family having "gone rogue" by being outed as a bigamist (and possible embezzler), the family company took a tremendous knock financially, which put the family coffers in a bit of peril for those who relied solely on it for their livelihood. There also remained the shadow of Catherine, who seemed to have disappeared and refused to return phone calls, emails, or any messages sent to her from the family...especially from Gavin, who was determined to get his wedding ring back that he had inadvertently left at her place when he had taken it off to do some garden work for her (who does that?!). However, since she wasn't returning messages, he ordered a replacement ring, because he believed THAT was the entire reason that set his wife off in the first place and that, once it was replaced, she'd give up on the silly idea of a divorce). On top of all that was the pregnancy and the fact that Amandine was at risk for gestational diabetes (and more since her mother had been a diabetic). That caused Gavin no small concern, for he was worried about her health...and not just because of the baby.
While they were in Thailand, word got out about their possible divorce. Amandine's brother called her and told her someone had posted pictures of her, Gavin, and his attorney on their way into the offices of HER attorney...so the world was now speculating on whether or not the divorce would proceed. Amandine's brother was livid and told her she was living in a fantasy world if she was waiting for love. He said she should be content with what she had with Gavin and let the marriage stand.
Gavin knew he loved Amandine...he was just terrified to tell her because he was afraid he would lose her once he did. Gavin may have been an a$$h*le for most of the story, but there was a very good reason for...well...a good portion of it. As you read the book, you'll learn that Jacob (the rogue older brother), was a jerk to Gavin growing up, frequently stealing Gavin's girlfriends with the intent of "teaching him a life lesson" that women will always go for the one who "has more to offer". He had, in fact, stolen Catherine from Gavin for that very reason. Jacob, being the eldest, was also the more wealthy, etc., which attracted Gavin's ex-girlfriend away from him. So Gavin guarded his heart and emotions against ever being hurt again by anyone else. However, that was also his downfall with Amandine, because his love was the only thing she wanted from him...not all the rich toys he could (and did) provide her with.
When Amandine's health took a small nose-dive, the doctor put her on moderate bedrest which caused Gavin to go into over-protective mode and hire more staff to "guard" her in case she was in need. At this point, there was just over a month left in the reconciliation agreement, which Gavin brought to her attention. She wanted to know if he was asking for more time since some unexpected issues had cropped up amidst the plan. He said he was just wondering where they stood at that point. Amandine asked him why he wanted to save the marriage. Gavin gave several reasons: the baby, her complicated pregnancy, and his feelings for her. When she asked him to clarify his feelings, he said, "Affection. The need to care and provide for you and our child". That wasn't what she wanted to hear and was disappointed. So she told him they were at the point where she still wanted the divorce. He argued that she needed him, and all she could say was, "so convince me".
Gavin had to fly across the country in order to get his mother's help with the family and the business. While there, he told her about the baby, too. His mother asked if he would be cutting back on work and he said temporarily. She chastised him and reminded him that babies needed a hands-on father as well as their mom. She also said that she had avoided telling him the same thing when he got married...that he needed to focus more on his wife and that he didn't really need to make another $20 billion to survive on, and that he couldn't continue to act like he was single. She asked him if making more money was worth missing out on spending time with his wife and child...which finally got his attention. She also informed him that hiring more staff to help his wife wasn't what Amandine needed. She needed HIS attention instead.
While Gavin was across the country visiting his mother, Amandine was back home in L.A., dealing with her cousin's surprise visit. The first thing Catherine did was hand Amandine Gavin's wedding ring..."to use against him in the divorce since he had left it at an ex-girlfriend's place after finding out she wasn't married anymore. Not just any ex, but one he almost married". (Talk about sticking the knife deeper into Amandine's back.) She then proceeded to tell Amandine that she should follow through with the divorce because of how ill-suited she was to be the wife of a man like Gavin, that if she didn't tell Gavin what it was she wanted, she should expect him to use her. When Amandine told Catherine they were working on reconciling, Catherine said she needed a different man who could love her more than she loved him...because that's what she was searching for. Then Amandine told her cousin she was pregnant...which didn't sit well with the other woman. But then a thought occurred to her and she asked Catherine if she "wanted Gavin back. The way you did the necklace?". (When they were teenagers, Catherine had given Amandine a necklace, then in front of all her girlfriends in the school bathroom, demanded it back.) But Catherine said no, she didn't want him back. Then with the final jab of, "Just remember: if you don't value yourself if you don't consider yourself precious, nobody else will either", she left...only to run into Gavin on his way into the house. They exchanged unpleasantries, during which Catherine told him that she had visited her cousin to offer "moral support" after learning about the possible divorce, though she didn't tell him the full scope of her conversation with Amandine. She did throw in his face the fact that Amandine had asked her if she wanted Gavin back though. Then she got nasty and said some hateful things about him, including the snippet that he didn't know how to make anyone happy but himself.
Immediately after Catherine's visit, Gavin and Amandine had a final blowout where she poured her heart out and told him exactly WHY she had reached the decision to file for divorce. She told him she had married him because she loved him but that she couldn't continue with the reconciliation...and that he couldn't have the baby. She said she couldn't stay with him because she wasn't happy, that she couldn't live her life being unwanted. He got quiet, then said he'd have his attorney call hers, then left.
Two weeks later, Amandine learned from Gavin's best friend that Gavin had purchased a penthouse to move into and that he had also made some severe changes in his work schedule. He had closed several of the funds he supported, some of his clients had left...and he had made the decision to cut back BEFORE they had made the final split. Although she tried to contact him, Gavin wasn't taking her calls or answering her messages.
The next day she was supposed to meet Gavin and his attorney at her attorney's office to sign the final divorce agreement...but he didn't show up. His attorney did and he told her that Gavin wouldn't be there and that, if she wanted the settlement that Gavin had set in place, she was not to try contacting him, or she would lose everything. Knowing this, Amandine and her friend set up a plan to get Gavin to see her...except things didn't go the way she had planned. The rest of that scenario will be up for you to read, for that leads to the end of the story.
To say this book had it all would be stating it mildly. The angst was high, the heat was hotter than hot, the drama was non-stop, and the emotions were all over the place. After having read most of the other reviews, I had set myself up to hate this book...but I didn't. It ended up being one of my all-time favorites, and I will be adding it to my Keeper for the Shelves collection, and rating it with five stars.

this book was hilarious actually.

now romance is not usually my genre, but i've read and loved some. and then sometime certain tiktok videos puts the plot of the book, i get curious and then i regret every choice i've ever made. it's really fun.

also spoilers ahead.

this book is really funny because it centers around the idea 'what if two people never communicated, ever' and i thought it was really funny because of how ridiculous it was. also, sure it has some ridiculous things because of the whole 'billionaire' aspect, but i don't mind that. but the miscommunication reached levels that was just a bit too baffling.here's a list of things the protagonists don't know about one another:

- fmc doesn't know her husband's views on having children
- she thinks he doesn't love her
- he doesn't know whether she wanted to go visit the family's house in thailand
- he doesn't know what sort of life she had wanted prior marriage
- she doesn't know what sort of life he had wanted prior marriage
- there was no discussion on how the change in life had affected her with the events and foundations
- he had hired a whole staff without asking for her input or opinion (not that it mattered because later in the book he has to make medical arrangements and again, he makes them without consulting his wife at all)

and this is a fraction. i still don't understand how these people got married because i'm not convinced they only knew one another at all by the time they made that decision.

other fun things on this book?

- the male main character thinking "he thought she was happy" after she's asked him for divorce and explained what was wrong. like what do you mean you thought she was happy! can we use our brains!
- the male main character wondering to himself "where had he gone wrong?" at 94% of the book like what! we're way past the moment of asking that! that should have been asked back when in like page 25 or whenever she asked for a divorce. what do you mean! also, she told him what was wrong! what do you mean you're asking yourself now, she told you!
- at one point male main character Does a Thing and female main character feels guilty she didn't let him tell her and i'm here wanting to scream 'cause he had entire months to tell her had he done it before. like, he's the one who didn't share the information.

also there's some weird comments that made me side-eye the book but the entire book is just So Much that i don't even know if i want to get into it. i could get critical but like... do i want to. is it worth it.

both these people are terrible at communicating, don't get me wrong, but mmc is so much worse, to the point that it's ridiculous. the woman could have done a better job which is why i think she has part of the blame in the marriage deterioriating, but when the guy is so much worse in absolutely never being there, always standing her up and not reacting 'till she says she wants a divorce and even then taking two months to get the problem after it was spelled out to him... i don't know, bestie, i think the blame is more his than yours.

anyways tl;dr i think this book was so funny. i couldn't look away because i needed to see where the author was going and it... went somewhere! there's that!

Okay, where to start.

First off, booktok is a dirty liar and shouldn't be listened too.

Secondly, this book was bad. Like nearly dnf'd it bad. Like in I had a perpetual look of disgust while reading it bad. Like in a I cant get those hours of my life back bad.

I dont know whats up with the author but the sheer amount of misogyny in this book was outstanding. Women want nothing but money and dont have minds for business, women are so mysterious and never mean what they say and are always doing the opposite of what they want, women are secondary in intelligence to men, women are catty and judgemental, and on and on and on. Not to mention the guys, the fucking sheer stupidity and cliched 'man brain' bullshit that went on was fucking horrendous.

The ML straight up says he doesnt get why his wife was upset he missed their anniversary to be with his ex because he 'didnt have a uterus', im not fucking joking, that is literally what is said in the book. He literally fucking said that in his internal monologue. Like this was bad. So fucking bad.

Thats not even to mention the miscommunication in the book and the sheer stupidity of it all. Like are you kidding me???? The ML goes out of his way to be stupid and NOT tell his wife he loves her. And everything he does as an action to her is fucking vicious. He'll take the baby? His fucking reconciliation agreement? Sex is mandatory? Are you fucking KIDDING me? She has to be open to having sex with him all the time during the 4 months? Excuse me but sometimes a woman DOESNT want to have sex but hes gunna sit there and force the issue because of the agreement? Thats fucking rapey, its fucking gross. Then his whole ill divorce you but we will never see each other again or all support will be yanked away im sorry you want to fucking coparent with this woman? You have to fucking talk to her and see her in order to do that. Fucking moron.

Like I hated everyone in this book. The characters were inconsistent and changed so often, the FL was a fucking stupid delicate wall flower. The ML was a sexist fucking pig. Her friends personality constantly changed. People always butt into their business without reason to give them shitty advice and then we never saw them again. It was ridiculous, like so fucking ridiculous.

If I could give this 0 stars I would have.

No. Just no.

Definitely not starting the year out with a bang 😭. Don’t read this, whatever low expectations you have going into it will be disappointed by this. Also, I’m pretty sure I started this b/c of a TikTok and the part that was mentioned didn’t even happen.

Where do I begin?

So, I’m not mad at this book because it was relatively short by didn’t feel like it took up too much of my time. However, it is not what I expected it to be and yet exactly what I expected it to be. Let me explain that. A book like this with This kind of title and so little reviews usually is not something I enjoy simply because the writing might not be too great or whatever it is this book follows a couple that is married, and the woman, a man Diane, wants to divorce her husband because she does not believe that he loves her. Now her husband definitely loves her but he doesn’t really say the words and he shows her. He loves her by buying her things and making sure she’s well taken care of. So when she told her husband that she wants to divorce him, he is like no we need to figure this out so they make a deal that they’ll try for four months and then after that if she still wants to get a divorce they will. Did I mention that she’s pregnant?

So here are the reasons why I’m not really too happy with this book. Number one I thought this book was going to be in GROVEL Pelouze however, it doesn’t really have that much groveling. Don’t get me wrong. Her husband definitely did not want to divorce her and he tried to show her that, but I didn’t really see him beg and plead for her while she continuously ignored him. And especially towards the end when he just decided that he was going to give her everything, she was the one who tried to get him back because she realized that he did love her, but just didn’t really say the words. Overall, it was just poorly written to when I found myself skimming some scenes because I didn’t really find them necessary to read. I also partly blame Goodreads for not setting up the books correctly in the series because it’s very clear that a couple of the relationships that were presented in this book already have their own books prior to the start of the story, and I was just confused during some parts of the book. I really did want to read Pete and Amandines best friend love story, but I don’t really care to pick up another book in the series or by this author.
