Adrian made a huge mistake and is paying for it every freaking day.
He let his pride rule his mouth and now he’s in hell. He’s living with Ellie but not allowed to touch her as she prances around in yoga pants and tank tops.
He wants to bend her over the couch and…
But he can’t break his No-Touching rule. There’s no way he’s letting her know how she affects him. His only solution is to push her into breaking the rule first.
Ellie is torn. She loves living with Adrian, but this is moving too fast. They need to slow down but how can she do that with her libido in overdrive. The man walks around the apartment in a constant state of undress.
But she refuses to jump right into a new relationship again. She wants this one to last and that means slowing things down. She just hopes she doesn’t combust first.
4.5 stars - Reading this reminds me of a line from a movie, "Why do they fight it?" And fight it they do! This third and final installment to Adrian and Ellie's story is steamy and tear-filled, devastating and funny. While I'm sad to see their story wrap up, I liked the way it all came together. Pun intended!
Oh, and that secret that Adrian has been keeping since Christmas? It's comical when that cat comes out of the bag! Painful, yet comical. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
When Adrian & Ellie Temporarily Move In Together, The Tension Becomes Explosive! Their Story Is Real And Heartbreaking. There Are A Few Laughs And A Few Tears.
This is the third book of three in the Hot Holidays series. It is from the La Petite Mort Club world. La Petite Mort Club is a private club catering to those with similar interests in kink and offering a safe place to meet up and indulge. This series is very loosely connected to two books in that series. Book two in the La Petite Mort Club series – The Voyeur Series Books 1-4 – is Patrick and Annie’s brother’s best friend story. Book four in the La Petite Mort Club series – A Merry Masquerade for Christmas – is Craig and Liz’s story in which their marriage seems destined to failure.
From The Mistletoe Game, Book One:
Adrian, probably about twenty-nine, left the Marines roughly eight months ago after a decade of service. He loves his new civilian life working in cyber security and making a lot more money than he could have in the military. His old friend Mitch had talked him into leaving and introduced him to La Petite Mort Club. His boss at the PI firm at which he works, Patrick Westman, is also a member at the club. He is about to spend his first Christmas at home in years, but is meeting Mitch at the club before heading to his folks’ house in the suburbs for the holidays. He is the third of seven children and the only boy, so he knows how to talk to women. He might be an alpha and enjoy riling people up, but he also knows how to be a gentleman. There are certain things he won’t stand for – like men mistreating women and watching a woman cry.
Ellie White, twenty-six, keeps picking the wrong men. She has a weakness for arrogant and confident alphas, but she realizes she needs to make some changes. She is a forensic accountant, so facts and logic should make the solution simple. Since all her boyfriends have been alphas and every single one was has been a cheat, she needs to find a nice boring accountant type if she wants a different outcome. She had been with Marc for over two years, supporting his lazy ways and buying his excuses. He blames everything on her and it is only too easy to believe him – the argument that she drove every single boyfriend to cheat on her did have some merit, even if she didn’t want to believe it. If only Marc didn’t live with her, the break-up would be a little smoother. She hopes to find him gone by the time she returns from visiting her family over Christmas.
It is Christmas Eve at La Petite Mort Club and Desiree has organized the Mistletoe Game to get a little excitement in the air on an otherwise quiet night at the club. That Ethan is watching has her nervous – he has been out of sorts of late. She hopes to make the game a success in his eyes, but is a few people short. She works the crowd diligently and with a little arm-twisting, she secures Adrian – who only agrees to play if he is paired with sad woman at the bar. When Adrian and Ellie are both stood up at La Petite Mort Club on Christmas Eve, stubbornness, steamy chemistry, and circumstances lead them to spending much of the next twenty-four hours together.
From A Banging New Year, Book Two:
It is the Year Year’s Eve bash at The Blue Newb and Adrian is escorting his nineteen year old kid sister Paige as he promised. He and Colin watch on as Paige and Colin’s sister Anne Marie enjoy the festivities. He knew Ellie and her friend Alison were planning to attend with Alison’s boss, Gus Harker, and he wants to see Ellie again. Adrian hasn’t been able to get her out of his mind and hopes to take her home with him tonight. Colin takes over babysitting duty when Adrian spots Ellie, but he soon finds he has an uphill battle with the beauty. She is doing everything she can to push him away, but Adrian knows that she is using her words as a shield. She wants him, too. The foursome engage in a drinking game that makes for an entertaining evening.
Somehow Adrian eventually manages to get Ellie to come home with him, but the same obstacles remain. He wants to make her smile, and he admittedly wants more with her. But Ellie keeps brushing off the handsome alpha who doesn’t seem to get the message. Further complicating matters, her ex-boyfriend Marc is still in the picture. The leach refuses to move out so she is stuck with him until their lease is up for renewal in a few weeks. Ellie is trying to move on and leave her coveted alphas in the past, convinced they all start out strong and never fail to resort to cheating later in the relationship. Adrian may not fit her stereotype exactly, but she wears blinders where he is concerned. He is exactly her type, which makes him dangerous to her heart. Only a man with six sisters would have the perception and patience to sense that Ellie just needs time despite what she says. But Ellie pushes him pretty far and it is hard to watch him take so much from her, even if it is easy to sympathize with her situation. He knows how to dish it out, too, but it is mostly in jest or part of the game, while Ellie just wants to put him in her past. He does finally start to recognize the situation for what it is, thank goodness. The story ends with a mixed bag of sorts and leads to the conclusion of the series in Cupid’s Misfire, book tree.
In Cupid’s Misfire, Book Three:
This story picks up seamlessly from the end of book two. After Ellie finds herself suddenly homeless, she ends up reluctantly moving into Adrian’s apartment – probably for just a few days until she finds a new place of her own. He is not exactly happy about the way it happened. He had been pretty fed up with her insults and was beginning to see his efforts were a lost cause, but he now finds himself living with her under his roof after having promised not to touch her. Living together is a world of temptation for both Adrian and Ellie, and neither can figure out what they really want. Despite all the tension, though, they do get the chance to really know one another and do the ordinary things that couples do. Of course all that chemistry cannot stay below the surface forever, so arguments are inevitable. There are some hurtful words and actions, as well as some making up.
By the time Valentine’s Day comes around a about a month or so later, Adrian is feeling good about their relationship. Unfortunately, Ellie’s old reservations have not abated. The signs were there, but Adrian had believed patience was in order (his experience with six sisters had him convinced of the matter). But despite how well the couple gets along in the bedroom and out, they are moving in different directions. Adrian’s Valentine’s Day plans don’t work out the way he intended. There is a lot of heartbreak in this final installment of the series. It remains difficult to watch Ellie be so unfair to Adrian. She has some real issues to deal with. She can be rude and high maintenance. Ellie still wants to paint Adrian as a typical alpha male, holding his looks and gender against him. He patiently tries to show her who he really is, but her blinders continue to be a problem. Adrian, thank goodness, does a little more standing up for himself in this book. He wants to earn Ellie’s trust. And if that trust never comes, he will fail to put the smile on her face that he so desperately wants to see. A number of favorite characters make an appearance – including Liz and Craig, Annie and Patrick, and Ethan St. Johns. Adrian and Ellie end up returning to La Petite Mort Club in this book – which leads to some rather interesting developments considering the revelations in book one! The couple eventually earns a happy for now ending.
Adrian is a strange mixture of hot-head and gentleman. When circumstances call for it, he can turn on his impressive good manners. But when alone with Ellie, he has trouble with controlling what comes out of his mouth – although by book three he has learned a few lessons. We finally learn here that he hadn’t been in a serious relationship in years (so since high school basically), which he attributes to being in the service and deployments. He does, however, see something serious with Ellie and is okay with it. This gives their relationship hope. Ellie has gone from failed relationship to failed relationship, each time coming out of it with a cheating ex-boyfriend. She has a history of letting her alphas take advantage of her, so when her relationship blows up on Christmas Eve she decides it is her turn to be in charge. The problem is she doesn’t make a great leader. While Adrian is sensitive to Ellie’s needs (much of the time), she is largely focused on herself. Granted she just had a big breakup, but that is probably why their relationship is so unstable. Their drama is a bit over the top. He is persistent, while she is prickly and tries push him away at each turn. They spend much of their time at odds.
When Adrian and Ellie temporarily move in together, the tension becomes explosive. Their story is real and heartbreaking. There are a few laughs and a few tears. Their steamy Christmas Eve romance pairs an ex-Marine alpha and a burned-out forensic accountant who is not going to allow herself to be a doormat anymore. It is nicely written. There are only a few errors in my ARC copy. The plot is fairly simply. It does begin to drag a bit towards the end. The characters are complex and very headstrong. They have very real and relatable problems, though overly dramatic at times. The story is written in third person. The POV alternates between Adrian and Ellie. I rate this book four stars.

Book 3 in the “Hot Holidays” series, finds Ellie accepting Adrian’s invitation to be his roommate and agreeing to his rule of, ‘NO SEX’. Even though he wants her to share his bed, he has made the rule, and he cannot break it. She will have to do that. And even though she wants to, she isn’t going to. They get into a routine of shopping together (Adrian thinks it will make them closer); watching TV together (but no sports or romance when TV sharing); she does the cooking and complains that he prefers children’s food; he complains that she does not clean up after herself in the kitchen; she complains how messy he is with leaving his clothes all over; they bicker at each other as to who uses the most hot water. And this is when the ‘NO SEX’ rule breaks, but who broke it?
Trust is a big issue for Ellie. She wants to be with Adrian but she keeps putting him in the same category as Marc and her ex’s. He says, “Don’t do that, act like everything I do and say is just like all the other men you’ve dated.” Everything is moving too fast for Ellie. But Adrian is done. He cannot be with someone who does not trust him. Will Ellie learn to trust Adrian?
We again meet Liz and Craig, Ellie’s parents, when Ellie makes a surprise visit to la Petite Mort, out of spite, to show Adrian that she too can troll the club looking for men. Ethan and Annie also make appearances giving advice to Adrian and threatening him to take it.
“Cupid’s Misfire” brings everything together like a thousand piece jigsaw puzzle. Who are Liz and Craig and how does Adrian know them? Why has Adrian been buying reams of wrapping paper? Why Ellie doesn’t like being called ‘babe’? Who helps her decide to trust Adrian? Ellie’s concerns with not trusting Adrian, and Adrian’s questioning Ellie about her lying and not being honest with herself, are traits that unfold throughout this series and are finally answered on the last page.
This has been a delightful series to read: a “difficult-to-put-down” series. All the many plots that are woven throughout finally come together in a happily-ever-after tapestry. Dialogue so clever, descriptions so graphic, characters so appealing and spirited. Steamy love scenes, and meaningful family and friend scenes, bring us a book that is beautifully written. A fitting end this exceptional series. Well done Ellis O. Day!
This is the third story in the Hot Holidays series. Although you could read this story by itself and understand the story, it is so much better if you read the previous two stories and know exactly what has been going on between Adrian and Ellie. The book like all of the other La Petite Mort Club stories is definitely steamy but this series also made me giggle and laugh quite a bit during my reading time. I absolutely loved these characters and am hoping to see more about them in previous La Petite Mort Club stories that come in the future. This whole series was a wonderful read that I would definitely recommend!

Ellis O’Day’s books are always so different and at one point or another make me laugh and Cupid’s Misfire was all that and more. There were sad bits to be sure but the scene with Adrian and Craig at Murphy’s was priceless. It is hard to review this book without giving too much away but there are characters from previous books that help Adrian and Ellie have their happy ending. La Petite Mort Club is the common denominator and yet that is ironic given Adrian’s decision, but I am sure all will work out in the future. This is a truly wonderful read and although I enjoyed every word I am sorry the series is over it was great.
This is the final book of a three part series covering the relationship between Ellie and Adrian. The books must be read in order and be prepared to read all three before achieving a HEA. While I liked Adrian, I didn't love Ellie. I realize she was hurt by her Ex, but she was judgmental toward Adrian and selfish. She was so caught up in her feelings and whether she could trust him, that she never once considered his feelings. The writing was good and I wanted to see how the story ended. However, I would have preferred Ellie to be more relatable.
Adrian may have backed himself into a corner, but he takes a stand for what he wants their relationship to be. And I really respect that about him. Ellie had me wanting to tear my hair out by the roots. She starts this book judgemental, cruel, and selfish. It took a supreme effort of will for me to read beyond her childish behavior. I’m very glad I did, because she does a lot of maturing by the end. I love where this book finally drags our leading couple, kicking and screaming and snarking all the way. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout as part of the box set.
Adrian has fallen in love with Ellie. He wants her permanently. He is doing everything he can to prove that he is not like the jerks that have hurt h is beauty. But it's not enough, she gets close & then pulls him away. She is not willing to admit she is falling in love with Adrian. She truly believes that men like Adrian will only end up caring for her temporarily before he gets tired of her & then cheat on her. Adrian has made this romantic dinner & even has a gift for Ellie for Valentine's Day. He wants this to be the start of many Valentine's together. But Ellie puts her foot in her mouth to hurt Adrian once again. He cannot take it anymore. Especially when he hears that Ellie has gotten a call from a landlord about an apartment. She has always been living at his place temporarily. When he walks out on Ellie, they are both miserable. But she believes he has gone to the club to hook up to fill his temporary needs. But when she gets a letter stating she is not allowed to come to La Petite Mort. She is furious that Adrian has made the decision that she cannot have hooks up just like the men. Little does she know that there is another reason why she is not allowed to become a member & banded from the club. Adrian is not the reason. But he knows & he will not be the one to Ellie the shock of her life. But when she finds out, will it finally be the reason for her to open up & admit that she loves this Alpha man. Can Adrian finally win the woman of his dreams to have a forever after.
This is the 3rd book of Ellie and Adrian’s story. Like the previous two books, I enjoyed this one also. Remember these books are hot, but they have a story, it is not just sex, which is why I like them so much. I enjoyed Ellie and Adrian together. I like how some of the other people from La Petite Mort Club are in this book. I recommend getting all three books and reading them right after each other. I received an ARC copy of this book for my honest opinion.
This is Book 3 in the Hot Holiday series by Ellis O. Day. The book is a continuation of Adrian and Ellie’s story. I enjoyed the banter between the hot alpha male and the curvy female. This is a book filled with sexual tension, chemistry, and stubbornness. I recommend you read all three books in the series back-to-back to get the full enjoyment of this series. This is a wonderful read.

Oh my! I am so happy to read the end but sad to see it end! I loved this story of Ellie and Adrian. It was so hot and steamy and you can just see the attraction between the two. I am so glad that they finally get to their HEA but what a wild ride to get here! This is such a great series and is a definite must read and re-read!
I received a free advanced review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my fair and honest opinion.
I really loved reading this series. It was so different than I thought it would be. The relationship between this couple was just how everyone wants things to go. Lots of banter and self talk, so funny sometimes. Hot, wild sex and ended well. A great combination of words!
OMG, I loved the ending! Adrian struggles to stick to his rule of no touching Ellie as Ellie still has her wall up around her heart. Will Adrian be able to stick it out for Ellie to realize that what they could have is the real deal? The struggles are real and I feel for Adrian’s heart as Ellie unwraps her Valentines present which is just perfect!
This is the third book and it's the story about Adrian and Ellie, told in the dual, third person point of view. I loved the dual point of view, however I am not the biggest fan of the third person, this is a deal breaker for me.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Sigh! If only this story was not done. I'm going to miss Adrian and Ellie and their antics - and their teasing of each other while they were living together. Eventually Ellie works her way to trusting Adrian and not lumping him in with all other men, partly due to conversations with her mother. This series will definitely be on my "to be reread" list!
Chloe's Misfire: A steamy, alpha male, romantic comedy (Hot Holidays Book 3)
Continuous love story of Ellie and Adrian. Ellie miss trust all of Adrian's actions. Can she learn to trust? Adrian want Ellie and he tell her she can movie in with as a roommate, no a girlfriend. Can he keep his hand off her? Ok story.
Wow! really felt the passion , the frustration, the laughter all rolled in a flowing story about trying to find your life's partner. But add the comedy and the words just jump of the page .a great read!
I'm glad that Ellie pulled her head out of her bum...eventually... But this final book was mostly just more pity party from her and she was still annoying. Adrian definitely deserved better. Though, this story did have a few funny moments and a HEA.
How would a new love fare if you judged them by the behavior of your exs? Could you let your past go and give love a chance? That's Ellie's problem. She keeps treating Adrian like her past boyfriends. Find out if love can win the day.
I was totally invested in this final book in the series. Adria and Ellie have so much sexual tension but their communication skills suck. There are a couple really good twists in this book but finally the eternal bachelor and the relationship shy woman get their HEA
At the end of the second story, Adrian invited Ellie to move in with him on a platonic basis; they find they like each other a lot, have a lot in common and secretly are very sexually attracted to the other which makes living platonically very hard. When they resume a physical relationship, she is so scared of being hurt that she refuses to commit and when they argue and he spends the night with his friend, she is convinced that like all her previous boyfriends he has cheated on her. It takes another night at La Petite Mort Club - where she has the shock of her life - to bring her to her senses and when she sees his Valentine's gift for her (enough to bring tears to your eyes) she finally understand that Adrian really does love and care about her. Lovely, touching and - finally - a HEA.
This was a sweet finish to Adrian and Ellie but I could have read a few more chapters. Guess I am a greedy reader. I did like their playing back and forth.
Ellie forces a bad decision Thursday marks Adrian leave, trust is hard for her. Thinking he is why she can't be a member, she continued him at the club, but gets the shock of her life. It wasn't Adrian, but her parents that stopped her membership.
Just oh so glad that they got their happy ending finally and she truly opened up.
