It’s New Year’s Eve and Adrian and Ellie meet again for another hot holiday.
After Ellie’s disastrous breakup with her boyfriend, she’s done with alpha males. It’s a new year and time for her to find a new type of man. Until, sexy as sin Adrian enters her life once again.
Adrian has no intention of letting Ellie get away from him. He definitely wants a repeat of Christmas Eve and a night of drinking, games and dancing at the club is a perfect way to change Ellie’s mind.
But will her abusive ex get in the way of their happily ever after?
This is a three-part series. All books follow Adrian and Ellie and their relationship from Christmas through Valentine's Day. The HEA is at the end of the third book Cupid's Misfire.
I really liked where this book was starting to go. The sassy, snarky banter between Adrian and Ellie kept me laughing, but Ellie’s roller-coaster of emotions was sometimes tough to get through. I really liked Adrian. He’s still an arrogant alpha-hole yet I found it much easier to sympathise with him than Ellie. I didn’t enjoy that she spent this entire book punishing him for the bad behavior of her exes. He makes enough of his own mistakes that he doesn’t need to pay for theirs too. I’m interested to see how this turns out, because I’m not sure that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel for them right now. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout as part of the box set.
4.5 stars - Oh, these two. LOL! I frequently find myself chuckling at their antics! The constant push-pull, love-hate thing they have going is perfect for them and their budding relationship. Yes, they both have issues to work passed and it occasionally gets painful (and not in a fun way!) but they are fun to watch. I'm looking forward to reading the third and final book in this offshoot series of La Petite Mort Club next week (maybe sooner). I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
When Adrian & Ellie Meet At The Blue Newb On New Year’s Eve, Stubbornness, Steamy Chemistry, And Circumstances Lead Them To Spending Some Unexpected Time Together!
This is the second book of three in the Hot Holidays series. It is from the La Petite Mort Club world. La Petite Mort Club is a private club catering to those with similar interests in kink and offering a safe place to meet up and indulge. This series is very loosely connected to two books in that series. Book two in the La Petite Mort Club series – The Voyeur Series Books 1-4 – is Patrick and Annie’s brother’s best friend story. Book four in the La Petite Mort Club series – A Merry Masquerade for Christmas – is Craig and Liz’s story in which their marriage seems destined to failure.
From The Mistletoe Game, Book One:
Adrian, probably about twenty-nine, left the Marines roughly eight months ago after a decade of service. He loves his new civilian life working in cyber security and making a lot more money than he could have in the military. His old friend Mitch had talked him into leaving and introduced him to La Petite Mort Club. His boss at the PI firm at which he works, Patrick Westman, is also a member at the club. He is about to spend his first Christmas at home in years, but is meeting Mitch at the club before heading to his folks’ house in the suburbs for the holidays. He is the third of seven children and the only boy, so he knows how to talk to women. He might be an alpha and enjoy riling people up, but he also knows how to be a gentleman. There are certain things he won’t stand for – like men mistreating women and watching a woman cry.
Ellie, twenty-six, keeps picking the wrong men. She has a weakness for arrogant and confident alphas, but she realizes she needs to make some changes. She is a forensic accountant, so facts and logic should make the solution simple. Since all her boyfriends have been alphas and every single one was has been a cheat, she needs to find a nice boring accountant type if she wants a different outcome. She had been with Marc for over two years, supporting his lazy ways and buying his excuses. He blames everything on her and it is only too easy to believe him – the argument that she drove every single boyfriend to cheat on her did have some merit, even if she didn’t want to believe it. If only Marc didn’t live with her, the break-up would be a little smoother. She hopes to find him gone by the time she returns from visiting her family over Christmas.
It is Christmas Eve at La Petite Mort Club and Desiree has organized the Mistletoe Game to get a little excitement in the air on an otherwise quiet night at the club. That Ethan is watching has her nervous – he has been out of sorts of late. She hopes to make the game a success in his eyes, but is a few people short. She works the crowd diligently and with a little arm-twisting, she secures Adrian – who only agrees to play if he is paired with sad woman at the bar. When Adrian and Ellie are both stood up at La Petite Mort Club on Christmas Eve, stubbornness, steamy chemistry, and circumstances lead them to spending much of the next twenty-four hours together.
In A Banging New Year, Book Two:
It is the Year Year’s Eve bash at The Blue Newb and Adrian is escorting his nineteen year old kid sister Paige as he promised. He and Colin watch on as Paige and Colin’s sister Anne Marie enjoy the festivities. He knew Ellie and her friend Alison were planning to attend with Alison’s boss, Gus Harker, and he wants to see Ellie again. Adrian hasn’t been able to get her out of his mind and hopes to take her home with him tonight. Colin takes over babysitting duty when Adrian spots Ellie, but he soon finds he has an uphill battle with the beauty. She is doing everything she can to push him away, but Adrian knows that she is using her words as a shield. She wants him, too. The foursome engage in a drinking game that makes for an entertaining evening.
Somehow Adrian eventually manages to get Ellie to come home with him, but the same obstacles remain. He wants to make her smile, and he admittedly wants more with her. But Ellie keeps brushing off the handsome alpha who doesn’t seem to get the message. Further complicating matters, her ex-boyfriend Marc is still in the picture. The leach refuses to move out so she is stuck with him until their lease is up for renewal in a few weeks. Ellie is trying to move on and leave her coveted alphas in the past, convinced they all start out strong and never fail to resort to cheating later in the relationship. Adrian may not fit her stereotype exactly, but she wears blinders where he is concerned. He is exactly her type, which makes him dangerous to her heart. Only a man with six sisters would have the perception and patience to sense that Ellie just needs time despite what she says. But Ellie pushes him pretty far and it is hard to watch him take so much from her, even if it is easy to sympathize with her situation. He knows how to dish it out, too, but it is mostly in jest or part of the game, while Ellie just wants to put him in her past. He does finally start to recognize the situation for what it is, thank goodness. The story ends with a mixed bag of sorts and leads to the conclusion of the series in Cupid’s Misfire, book tree.
Adrian is a strange mixture of hot-head and gentleman. When circumstances call for it, he can turn on his impressive good manners. But when alone with Ellie, he has trouble with controlling what comes out of his mouth. Ellie has a history of letting her alphas take advantage of her, so when her relationship blows up on Christmas Eve she decides it is her turn to be in charge. This makes for an entertaining exchange between her and Adrian, and a very real and human reaction to some careless words. But again, Adrian cannot help himself and they struggle for power. Their drama is a bit over the top. He is persistent, while she is prickly and tries push him away at each turn. They spend much of their time at odds.
While their chemistry is great, the fact that Ellie is determined to give up on alphas remains a real obstacle to any relationship. They both know she used him Christmas Eve, and that she has no intention of taking things further. And although Adrian clearly wants more, there is no indication that he wants a serious relationship or that he won’t cheat like all her prior boyfriends. Yes, he wants more with her, but we do not yet know how he feels about dating and relationships, or what his dating history is – and he is a member of a BDSM club! Revelations in book one make the possibility of this couple frequenting La Petite Mort Club rather complicated (her parents are members – and Adrian recognizes them), so it will be interesting to see what happens with the couple and the club going forward.
When Adrian and Ellie meet at The Blue Newb on New Year’s Eve, stubbornness, steamy chemistry, and circumstances lead them to spending some unexpected time together. Their steamy Christmas Eve romance pairs an ex-Marine alpha and a burned-out accountant who is not going to allow herself to be a doormat anymore. It is nicely written. There are only a few errors in my ARC copy. There is also a spot at which it is a little hard. The plot is fairly simply. The characters are complex and very headstrong. The story is written in third person. The POV alternates between Adrian and Ellie. I rate this book four stars.

Ellie is starting the new year off with her friend Alison and Alison’s friend/boss, Harker, at the exclusive, new club, The Blue Newb, when she spots Adrian walking toward her. Adrian is there as a sort of babysitter for his sister Paige. He introduces himself to Alison (whom he has only met via cell phone) and Harker. A game ensues where Ellie has to drink a shot each time she is mean to Adrian. She accuses Adrian of flirting with someone across the room and the game turns so that if she is wrong about something that he had to drink for, she would be coming home with him. Turns out she is, and the fight to get her back in his bed continues.
We are again treated to the ups and downs, or rather, ins and outs (no pun intended) in this relationship. Ellie has been leading him around since the first time he saw her smile; she finally admits to his giving her the best sex she has ever had; she continues to fight for dominance in the bedroom; she has to keep reminding him not to call her Babe; he can’t understand why Marc is still living in her apartment; their constant squabbling, yet ending up in bed together.
For Ellie, the sex is casual because she isn’t ready for anybody so soon after Marc and she still cannot trust Adrian to not cheat, for no other reason than she considers him an alpha-male. For Adrian, he wants only Ellie, and he is ready for her. Can she lose her prejudices and see him for who he really is? Will she keep on pushing him away that he eventually gives up on her?
This author has followed up “The Mistletoe Game” with another exceptionally well-written romantic comedy featuring some hot and steamy scenes. Her funny and teasing banter continues to keep me coming back for more. She ends her chapters, tempting me to start the next one, even though I know I need to sleep, and I become so engrossed that I need to finish. Another winner for Ellis O. Day, in this, Book 2, of the “Hot Holidays” series.
In a continuation of the Hot Holidays Trilogy: Book 1 - The Mistletoe Game; This is Book 2 - A Banging New Year with Adrian/Ellie. Told again with dual POV, but not at La Petite Mort Club this time. The book picks up in the same timeline, and basically the same theme, jilted girl, hot rebound sex, she is not ready for another alpha male relationship. Ellie is still confused, she is a rollercoaster of emotions and continually insults, jabs, avoids and pushes Adrian away at every turn. Adrian must be desperate to put up with Ellie's constantly shoving him away with her cruel undeserved berating. But they both love sex....its the après part that's the problem. Once again the constant bantering, humour and insults between them is refreshing and fun. There is more traction between the potential couple Alison/Harker. Lets see if we get our HEA in Book 3 Cupid's Misfire, the final book in the Hot Holidays trilogy.

A Banging New Year is the next in the Hot Holidays series. It delivers just we can expect from Adrian and Ellie. She continues to delivers harsh blows to his ego. This is balanced with witty banter between these two as well as Allison and Harker. This happens during an inventive drinking game between the couples. Whoever is rude, arrogant and mean takes a drink.
The chemistry between Adrian and Ellie is undeniable. Ellie just has a hard time seeing past her previous boyfriends to see the man that Adrian really is. Hopefully she will find her way before Adrian gives up. Can he survive with Ellie in his apartment? Will they continue to deny themselves all the passion they feel or will they find their HEA?
I really enjoyed this second book in the Hot Holidays series. Once again, it is about Ellie and Adrian and there extreme attraction to each other and their chemistry with each other. Trying to get over her past relationship and it's problematic ending, Ellie continues to try to deny Adrian a chance with her. The communication between the two characters was steamy and funny. I really love reading about these two characters and am rooting for them whole heartedly. I can't wait to read the next book in the series and hope for them to have a happy ending.

Loving the back and forth between Adrian and Ellie! New Years Eve comes in with a bang when fate brings Adrian and Ellie back together. I feel for Adrian’s frustrations yet love his persistence to fight Ellie’s brick wall around her heart and her bad thoughts about men in general. When her ex is above and beyond mean, it is Adrian and his friends who rescue Ellie in her time of need. With Ellie’s best friend nudging Ellie, will Ellie take Adrian up on his offer? You’ll have to read to find out and wonder how Adrian’s hopes and frustrations will manage!
This is part 2 of a part 3 story. So once again, it ends on a cliffhanger. It is a little longer than part one and continues with Adrian trying to convince Ellie all alpha men are not the same. Since her Ex won't move out of their joint apartment, she moves in temporarily with Adrian. As friends, no sex involved. There is some humor, but the angst of Adrian chasing and Ellie running gets a bit old. I liked Adrian, but I'm not sure Ellie was worth all the trouble.

If I didn’t know better, I’d think that this was ghost written. Not NEARLY up to snuff as other Ellis O. Day stories. Sorry that this is linked to the La Petite Mort Club series. I fell for buying the second book but even at only $2.99, I’m not going to fall for it a second time. It was bad enough that Maggie was such an insipid fool, Ellie is ten times worse. Why any man would be interested in her is beyond me. No, don’t bother. It doesn’t get any better.
I love this second steamy story! This continuation of Ellie and Adrian's story is just as hot as the first book. They have such chemistry together, and I was totally rooting for Adrian all the way. To be honest, I sometimes wanted to nudge Ellie hard as Adrian may be an alpha but it is obvious how much he really likes her! I can't wait to read the third book!
I received a free advanced review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my fair and honest opinion.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series and Ellie's snarky humor and Adrian's ability to fire right back at her while still being respectful and good natured. This book, however, took a turn and I found it to be mostly annoying. Sure, there was some fun humor, but mostly Ellie was whiny and I really started to dislike her and to think Adrian should just move on. I really hope this series redeems itself in the 3rd book because I really think it started with such good potential.
I love the banter and miscommunication with this couple. It's obvious they belong together to everyone, except them. Adrian finds himself doing things out of his norm and thinks his attraction to Ellie is just about hot sex. He's so wrong, but Ellie is afraid. She just got out of a bad relationship and is scared to start something with Adrian. There is great flirty banter but a lot of miscommunication between the couple. I'm totally invested in this trilogy and can't wait for the last book.
I was excited to start this one after how the 1st one ended. But I quickly got annoyed at Ellie & her emotional roller coaster. Although Adrian is an arrogant alpha male, he seems to have a soft spot for her & she keeps punishing him for what her ex’s did.
The banter & snark also started out great but instead of having an adult conversation with each other they keep having same argument. It’s getting old fast!
Ellis...... Why??????? Hate paying for book only to find out the ending is in another book. Love, love love these two people and the dialogue is hysterical. Oh, the many mistakes these two make by not stating their truth. But that is half the fun. Ended too soon. When is the next of this trilogy going to be ready? Put me on the ARC list pleassseeee
This is a continuation of Ellie and Adrian story; it was just as good as the first part. If you enjoyed the first book, you would enjoy this also. I love the book around the La Petite Mort Club. I love the chemistry between Adrian and Ellie. I can’t wait for the next book. I received an ARC copy of this book for my honest opinion.
Adrian agrees to chaperone his little sister to a New Year's Eve party when he recalls that it is where Ellie will be. She tries to push him away, especially when she thinks he is checking out other women when in fact he is watching his sister. They spend the night together again, but he finds out her ex is still living with her. Unable to forget her, he keeps buying something for her, but tries to keep his distance but when he bumps into her in a coffee shop and her ex shows up arguing, he challenges Marc to a fight. Ellie is afraid Marc will hurt Adrian. Once more they spend the night together, but Adrian is annoyed that she doesn't trust him. The more we see of this couple, the more we want to give Ellie a shake and a talking to. But as is common with Ellis O Day's writing, we understand and sympathise with her annoying behaviour and just hope for the best. Still funny, still tender, still sexy, more frustrating!
This series is so much fun. We have a continuation of the banter between Ellie and Adrian when they meet up at The Newb Club on New Year's Eve. We also get to know Allison (Ellie's best friend) and Harker more. And while Ellie says she doesn't like alpha males, she does find it hot when Adrian knocks out Marc. I love where the storyline overall is going and can't wait for the ending.
Adrian is either a saint or a masochist. Ellie is one of the most irritating characters I've read in a very long time and it was hard for me to keep reading. Ellie sounds like a teenager half of the time, and her hot/cold "they're all alike" is exhausting. I expect there will be an HEA in the last of the three books but I don't know if I have the patience to read it.
A Banging New Year: A steamy, alpha male, romantic comedy (Hot Holidays Book 2)
The continuous love story of Ellie and Adrian. A fight between Adrian and Marc, Ellie's ex. Who will win? Marc has not move out of their apartment and he is playing dirty. He has thought out and broken many of her things. He want her out of the apartment. Where is she going to go? Great story.
This chick is seriously annoying. Just shut up already. The only time she is nice to him is when they are doing it, and even then shes kinda mean. No chick is worth all that. She keeps saying "i dont wanna be with a guy like him" as if hes a cheater just because hes hot, but shes basically using him for sex.
Like the characters. It was hard to take Ellie’s up and downs. I understand she had been cheated on previously. I just wish she would appreciate Adrian’s thoughtful gestures. He was amazing.
Didn’t enjoy her “I’m in control during sex” attempts. Came across as pretty uncaring.
Also didn’t like her throwing in Adrian’s face. “You men are all the same. Hopeful it will be better in 3rd book.

I loved this book and I love Adrian. Wish I had an Adrian. It was a shame what he had to go through to get Ellie. She was all up and down, more down than up, until she finally came to her senses. The steam scenes were STEAMY and the banter between them was terrific. This book was an enjoy to read. Thank you for the copy.
The story about Ellie and Adrian. Told in the dual point of view, however it's in the third person, which is a deal breaker for me. The characters, however were good, with great chemistry. Enjoyable story.

I enjoyed Adrian & Ella's book. Good characters. It was a fun, entertaining read. I received a free copy of the book. And am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
I love where this is going. This is an alpha male story and I love the comedic banter between the characters. These stories by this writer are all good so far.
