For most people, true love means “till death do us part.” For others, death is only the beginning…
After nine months as a panther ghost, Nick Cadoulec is owning his afterlife. Walking through walls? Check. Ghost soccer with his friends? Check. Messing with his crew by moving their stuff around with his poltergeist powers? Check.
But when he gets the ability to change from a panther ghost to a human one, all bets are off. Human ghosts have unfinished business. Human ghosts want things: Justice. Retribution. Revenge. Love.
Nick figures the love thing is out of the question, so he’s going for the first three—hunting down the man who killed him, and making him pay. The last thing he expects to find on his revenge mission is a lost human ghost, trapped in a remote corner of the spirit world.
The best Brittany Daniels can figure, she’s in purgatory—a perpetual dark and stormy night where it’s always Halloween, and she’s dressed as a Kraken. She’s spent two years hoping for an emissary from heaven to come and guide her to a place with less rain and more margaritas served by hot pool boys, but the sinfully sexy ghost who finds her is definitely no angel.
Nick has never fallen this hard for a woman—alive or dead—but being with her comes at a price. The car accident that took Britt’s life also took away big chunks of her memory, including her own unfinished business. Unless she figures out what’s holding her here, the darkness will grow until it spills out into the human world—and destroys Nick along with it.
Nick will do anything to help Brittany, even knowing that once her unfinished business is complete, her spirit will cross over and he’ll be alone. After all, dead shifters don’t get fated mates, happily-ever-afters—or Christmas miracles.
Such a sweet and different story of two ghosts finding their HEA. Hey better late than never.
Nick has been the ghostly member of the Wild Blood crew but always feeling separate from his livelier brethren. When he sets out on a mission of revenge, he comes across a woman dressed as an octopus by the side of the road. He learns that Britt, died there but can’t remember what’l unfinished business is tying her to this world, but the longer she’s there the greater the chance she’ll become a bitter shell of her former self. What happens next is surprisingly touching yet still sexy, and yes romance happens for these two lost souls.
Britt and Nick’s love story was one of my faves in this series. It has all the elements I crave, a bit of supernatural mixed with some heat, good banter, found family and just a touch of bittersweet to make it all the better. It’s set around Christmas time and I may be a bit late, but the story is worth the read, no matter the season. I’d recommend it.
Really never thought I would read, let alone thoroughly enjoy a book about ghosts. But having loved Phantom Nick since meeting him, I had to read his story. What an emotional ride this book is that brings Britt into his life, a ghost herself who is stuck due to unfinished business. This story made me wonder many a time as to which direction this was going to go and also had me tear up on a couple of occasions. I also laughed like a loon when Titan iced Remy in the photo shoot. We even get a very good closure in regards to an open ended circumstance from Titans book, which I found balanced an awful lot of scales. I was surprised at the ending as I think I expected a miracle but you never know. This author has done brilliantly with this book by answering a question I posed and may surprise us further down the line. Breck still has his HEA to come. This is my honest review of this book which I have also bought.
I loved this book because it gave Nick his well deserved ending. This whole series is awesome for people who love shifter series and I can't wait for Brock's book.
I love that Nick got his HEA. He truly deserved it after all he had been through...plus is there a new last chance crew coming our way. Jax and his group maybe? Hmmm I love that idea.
Anyone who reads Anastasia books has probable been waiting for Nicks story after all he is such an integral part of The Wild Blood Crew a crew that has slowly formed and is just as crazy as the Bad Blood Crew who are the parents of some of this crew. Like all of Anastasia's work you will laugh especially at the antics of Remy and Colton but also at Titan has he has learnt to live again.
If you remember Nick Cadoulec the panther ghost who was a member of Brandon's original crew was given the ability to change to his human ghost form in Titan's mate the only problem with this is that a panther never wants revenge a human does and he is determined to track down and eliminate the man that killed him he can't kill the leader of the gang as the Wild Bloods have already taken care of him. Has he is tracking down the remnants of the group that kills he is drawn into the vortex world that is holding Britt a young woman killed in a car accident trapped bu unfinished business. He finds it hard to leave her and is determined to help her get that closure the only thing is he can't find out how to do it and he is quickly falling in love with her and knows his heart will be broken when she finally moves on. With the help of Titan who can travel in the spirit world Breck the white wolf who can enter Britt's mind and Dragon Boy (will we eventually find out who he is) will they find a way to help her. Meanwhile Nicks quest for revenge takes back seat and when he finally does track down the enemy he may have to rethink what he needs to do I know that Breck's story will be next and I can barely wait
Although this is not technically a Christmas story, it's perfect for both the holidays or anytime. I'm so happy that we finally got Nick's story, and there's also bonus content about other characters that was completely unexpected, but very much appreciated. This was a fantastic story that was well deserved, and of course with a true Wild Blood ending! Lol! I would love to read about Dragon Boy's story, especially since no one knows where he's from! It's certainly going to be a wild one. ;) I REALLY can't wait for Brock's story!!! After reading about him since he was little, I always knew that his was going to be a special one. Really looking forward to it! If you haven't already read the previous series', I would highly recommend that you start with the Silverlake Shifter Series, and then continue reading in the order listed at the end of the books. By doingso, you'll have a better understanding of the characters, the different crews, how they're all connected, and the dynamics between them. They're all absolutely fantastic, and you will not be disappointed! I would definitely recommend this book, series, and exceptional author.
Phantom’s Mate is book 6 in the Wild Blood Shifter series.
I was looking forward to reading Nick’s story & am very pleased I wasn’t disappointed. Since Nick is a ghost I wasn’t sure how/if he would ever find his HEA.
Nick’s need for revenge consumes him which has prevented him from finding happiness & from truly connecting with the rest of the Wild Blood Crew.
Brittany is a ghost & has been alone for years. Her unfortunate choice in clothing gives a good chuckle. Is Brittany destined to wander the same place she died so many years ago or will she remember what she needs to do & be able to move on?
Nick & Brittany make a wonderful couple. The story is full of laughs & a little sadness with a few twists along the way. We get to see a lot of Dragon Boy (who I absolutely adore) in this story & he gives us plenty of laughs, I can’t wait for his story to unfold. The rest of the crew make an appearance & show there support in the only way they know how……….pranks, glitter & mayhem!
If you want a great story with fun, adventure & love then give Phantom’s Mate a read.
Nick is a panther shifter but is also a ghost. He goes through walls and haunts his friends. Nick wants revenge against the man who killed him. He’s on his way to get revenge when he sees a woman sitting on the curb. Brittany thinks she’s is purgatory. She’s stuck in the rain, on the side of the road, in a kraken costume. She saw her boyfriend cheating on her and left. She wrecks and dies. It’s been two years and there are holes in her memory. Nick tells Brittany that she has unfinished business and until it’s settled, she’s stuck on this side. He agrees to help her figure out what she needs to do. The longer it taker Brittany, the anger and hurt will end up killing someone. Can Nick let go of his pain and revenge ? Will Britt go toward the light? After first I didn’t care for this story. Just something about ghosts having relationships didn’t seem right. But the longer I read, the more interested it got to me. There are some parts that will have you crying. A little bit of humor.
* Read as part of the boxed set WILD SHIFTER CHRISTMAS *
PHANTOM'S MATE is the sixth book in Anastasia Wilde's Wild Blood Shifters series. As always the story is well written with never a boring moment. There are lots of twists and turns, steamy romance, and some laugh-out-loud antics you've come to expect from this wild group of shifters.
The Panther God gave Nick Cadoulec the ability to change his ghost form from panther to human. Now he's on the way to seek revenge against the panther that murdered him.
Brittany Daniels died two years ago in a car accident and can't move on, there is something she needs to do, but she can't remember what.
There is so much sorrow, fun and laughter along with Nick's and Brittany’s HEA, you won't want to put Phantom's Mate down.
This story can be read as a standalone, but for the best enjoyment I recommend reading the series in order for less 'Huh' moments. I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Nick was part of the Wild Blood Crew but he was anger sometimes because he didn't have what everyone else had. A mate, family and his HEA. But we all know fate has a way of making everything alright. Brittany was stuck on the side of the road trapped in her own hell. Reliving her dead and accident over and over again. It had been two years. Imagine her surprise when Nick walked into her trapped bubble . I loved the way they battered back and forth. Nick the good guy that he was decided to help get her out of her Purgatory. With the help of DB and the crew they figured out a way to help Brittany escape. Brittany really helped Nick get past his anger and wanting revenge on Max's the second in command for the panther shifter that ordered Nicks death. I really liked what he did for Max's and his crew. Plus I loved getting a peek into Christmas day with the Wild Blood Crew. On to the next book. I can't wait.
Nick's ghost has been a part of the Wild Blood Shifters since book one and I've always wanted some happiness for him. Although he couldn't be raised from the dead, the author managed to come up with a story for him.
Brittany was killed in a car accident and is held here with unfinished business. Unfortunately she can't remember what it was and she can't move on without closure. Nick's unfinished business is to kill the man who killed him. When the two meet, sparks ignite and Nick decides to help Brittany. It is a sad state of affairs when ghosts are getting more action than I am but the pages were definitely smoking hot. DB, the dragon boy in the spirit world, was hilarious. Lessons are learned, love will be found and the best gift of all was from the crew at Christmas. The epilogue was priceless and there was a HEA for all.
Phantom's Mate was surprisingly enjoyable, though the concept was quirky! I wasn't prepared to like it and for a fantasy lover, I was surprised how hard it was for me to suspend my own sense of reality. I mean,it comes from Anastasia's creative psyche, so why can't someone find their true mate in death? It's not like there are rules that govern the after life in paranormal fiction! So once I let my pre-conceived ideas go and just enjoyed the story, I realized I did like this novel. Phantom's Mate fits well with the rest of the series, with the cast of quirky shifters and their mates. There is a balance between intrigue and romance, with some outrageous laugh out loud moments. It was a great read on a rainy day. I can hardly wait to start Brock's Mate!
Another great story in the Wild Blood's series. Can Phantom Nick finally get a happy ending? Whilst on the trail of Jax, the panther shifter that led the attack that killed Nick, he gets dragged into the death of a giant sobbing Kraken, wow what?!? Brittany had been to a Halloween party and had been killed following a car accident on her way home, she'd been wearing a Kraken costume for the party. This is their story, of how they can release themselves from their "unfinished business" that holds them both in the "mortal plane". A heartwarming storyline, with laughter, tears and "boinkety boink" that I love about Anastasia Wilde's books. This is a great addition to the Wild Blood series, which I wholeheartedly recommend.
I honestly don’t know how Anastasia Wilde does it. I’ve been reading her books from the very first series, snd I’m always amazed at how I get sucked right into the worlds where the books are set. I read a lot of books, but with hers you truly lost tracks of time in the real world and just melt into the setting. The characters are all so relatable even though they’re shifters, and you just want to see good things happen for them.
I honestly didn’t see how she was going to make this book work with Nick being a ghost, but she found a creative and fun way to make it happen. And I love how the rest of the crew (new and old) are there for support through everything. I can’t wait for Brock’s story next!
Finally Nick meet's his mate in a fiery ghost who is stuck on repeat. Will helping her help him, read the story to find out. All I can say is that I really enjoyed reading Nick get his own story and finding out how he came to be and that as usual the Wild Blood Crew left me laughing in quite a few places with their close bonds and practical jokes on each other. As usual they way they accept the new members with skepticism but open hearts that turns them to family pretty quick is great.
I have thoroughly enjoyed every story in this series and this author is one of my favorites. Her sense of humor and creative mind really shows through in her stories.
I received a copy of this to read so that I could give this, my honest opinion.
Nick is a ghost, a panther shifter ghost, who is also part of the Wild Blood Crew, and he has been sad and angry since he was murdered.
Brittany is a ghost too, a human killed in an auto accident, her ghost trapped at the site, because she has unfinished business on Earth. When Nick finds her ghost sitting in the rain in a Kraken costume at the side of the road close to where she had died two years before he was intrigued, his attention caught, even though he was looking for Jax, the panther shifter who was head of the team of panthers who had murdered him.. Convoluted, but all about forgiveness, hope, and love, no matter what.
I have to say something about all the Wild Blood Shifters books ! Everyone of them has a wonderful story and the humour outstanding. It had me laughing so hard my husband had to have an explanation as to why I was laughing like mad , I had tears in my eyes from all the laughing I was doing. This last book had me crying in a few places some happy tears and some sad tears but over all an outstanding book ! So I would definitely recommend this whole series to my friends and all who would read this review. I would like to congratulate the author too ! I will read more of her books too!
I voluntarily reviewed "PHANTOM'S MATE" Anastasia Wilde as usual it's always a pleasure to read your books I absolutely love this series & was so looking forward to this story. Phantom Nick has been a great parts to all the past books him getting his own story was such a thrill he meets a ghost Britt who has unfinished business to move on. I definitely recommend to get this very well written book following Nick & Britt's journey it was emotional at times but a very interesting unique read you don't want to miss getting it was very difficult to put down grabs you from beginning to end.
When I started this, I wasn't sure how Ms. Wilde was going to manage a HEA for Nick. But she did! Can't believe I doubted her. This was a very emotional story. Nick and Britt both had walls built around their hearts. Neither trusted enough to let anyone get close. It's also a Wild Bloods story. That gives us pranks and a lot of laughs. I absolutely love these characters. No matter what, the Crew sticks together. That's what it means to be family. Once again. an amazing read. This is my voluntary opinion of an advanced copy I received.
This can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading the series in order for maximum enjoyment. It takes a very talented author to pull off a HEA for someone who is already dead! I really enjoyed all the humor, twists, bonds, and romance that are a trade mark of this series. Nick and Britt had a struggle to their HEA, but that made it even more special. I can’t wait for Brock to get his special someone!
All you need to know about Nick is that he is "not an angel, has a thing for black leather and lace". Oh, and his lady love has questionable taste in Halloween costumes. Nick's pranks have run throughout the Wild Blood series, but what hasn't really been expressed is his feelings of lonely (despite being part of the crew) and his feelings of betrayal. Will his new found ghost friend Britt be the one to settle him down?
I really wasn’t sure how you could pull off a funny shifter romance about a ghost... but I should know by now, never to doubt Anastasia Wilde. This was yet another fabulous instalment in the Wilde Blood series. As ever, adventure, action, friendship and chaotic fun... as well as remarkably a wonderful romance.
I love this series, as well as all the series this author has kindly given us... and can’t wait for more!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
So going into this book I didn’t even read the blurb. I knew Nick and it didn’t matter what the pretense was, I was here for it. This book was infinitely times better than anything I could have imagined. It was so rich in characters. Everyone was so full of dimension and gray areas. Plus we all love a Christmas miracle. Can’t wait for Brock’s drama next. And I wonder if we’re getting another last chance crew series next?
What an amazing story line! I absolutely love all of the characters and especially though main characters, Britney and Nick! My only real complaint would be that I didn’t want the book to end! I wasn’t sure how this was going to be so I started with this one and now I’m going to have to go back to book one and work through the entire series and probably reread this one when I get into the series place.
This has to be the most touching romance that this author has written. Two lone ghosts meet and help each other through the problems that keep the other earthbound, while falling in love. So sweet! That doesn't stop the author from making this downright hilarious. Three funny points: the photobomb, Jax's face when he receives his "present" and Santa Cthulu - if you want details, read the book!
Now that panther ghost Nick Cadoulec can shift to human, he wants human things like vengeance against the shifter that killed him and stole the artifacts of Titan’s heritage. But on his way to retribution, Nick meets Brittany Daniels, a ghost stuck in the in-between, maybe she’s got unfinished business before she can move on.
A fun holiday read with the insane Wild Blood crew! Rating: 4stars
I loved Nick and Britts angst filled story. He's driven to help her find her answers but she's determined too. Anger issues all around but together they make it work. Nick is a bad boy who has a heart of gold. The Christmas scenes are priceless! Jax is one lucky alpha. DB is great at pranks and comic relief once more. Britt saves Nick too and makes him a better ghost. I can't wait for Brock's story!
An awesome, amazing, beautiful plot! The characters are wonderful, and finally Nick gets his just rewards! Even bad guys can be changed by love! Two broken, lost ghosts find each other, get closure, and have the best, wackiest Christmas ever! As the bad blood crew settles down with their mates, can peace finally be found! Who will be next! Loved it! May be the best one yet!
Only the Wild Bloods. No others would have a Ghost as part of the pack. Now two? Very good plot and a different approach also. I really enjoyed the story and looking forward to more. I hope their will be new people joining the pack. I loved the ending, well worth it. Cried like a baby. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Nick has been around a while but since he’s a ghost you’d never expect him to find just what he needed—a mate. When he runs into Brittany, things are looking up. But both of them need to take care of unfinished business which is where the story really takes off. Fast paced adventure with a strong flavor of ghosts. Once I started I couldn’t put it down. Great story, characters and unique premise. Another winner!
