"Be wary always of bards who sing about beautiful war."
Thank you to Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC!

I am so sad that this series is over. I'll greatly miss the witty banter, colorful characters, dark adventure, and refreshing originality that I loved so much. I even discussed the first installment, Bring Me Their Hearts, as part of my bachelor's thesis regarding the shifting role of heroine in young-adult literature. Still, overall, this was an amazing ending and I am looking forward to more from Sara Wolf in the future.

After fulfilling Varia's demands and helping her reach the Bone Tree, Zera once again finds herself at a crossroads: does she take her heart back and run or does she remain Heartless for a little while longer to rejoin her friends and help them stop the Laughing Daughter and her valkerax army before they destroy the land that has become her home? But stopping the Bone Tree won't be easy, especially if Zera wants to still be able to save her beloved prince's sister and the love of Fione's life. There's always Lucian's magic, but big spells cost him dearly and Zera can't bear to watch him lose any more than he already has. How much is she willing to lose to save the people she was never supposed to love?

This was great! I loved getting to see Zera interact with her friends and Lucian without the added friction being Heartless caused in previous books-- they have bigger fish to fry with valkerax on the loose. I also enjoyed the return of so many characters such as Nightsinger, Crav, Peligri, Lady Y'shennria, Yorl, and Evlorasin and seeing how they've changed. Honestly, this would have been a 5 star rating had the epilogue not been so disjointed and left so many questions. I liked the political twists and changes such as Lucian dissolving the ruling class, but I hated how I felt other things weren't explained and the lack of explanation left plot holes. For instance, Still, it was interesting to watch Zera strugle against the song of the Bone Tree that she now hears due to the blood promise. The question is: when the Bone Tree says "Send Me Their Souls" will Zera be strong enough to resist?

I loved this series so much!
The ending was beautiful -if I have one complaint it would be that I wanted more answers in the epilogue. Zera was an amazing heroine throughout all the books and now I'm sad the story is over.
Which, I guess, is how I know I loved it.

*it's been thousands of years and I'm still waiting for the alternative cover so it would match with the other books of this trilogy* **sigh**

I have a feeling this one's going to be a very unpopular opinion (and not in a good way probably)

In this final book, Zera and her friends try to stop Varia from destroying the world. They went to seek aid from the high witches. Unfortunately Varia can track Zera through her dreams, ensuring there is nowhere to run.
If only this was the plot I'd be more than happy to give it a five star. But....NO

Here's the original plot:
Zera continuously blaming herself for everything, Lucien thinking about how to kill save his sister. Fione being a nerd and Mal..well keeping us entertained. Repeat.

this boring is so boring it felt like a chore. Yeah, that's it.
I tried so much to love it but I'm sorry, it felt dragged. The first few chapter’s were fun, but after that? It was super predictable and well...boring.

Atleast that epilogue is cute.

Thanks to the publishers for the arc.

Pre-reading thoughts: I liked the cover of the first two books better tbh. Can't wait for the alternative version.

I don’t even have a tagline for this review. I don’t know what I’m feeling right now. I think I’m heartbroken.

I...don’t even have the words. When I opened my copy of this ARC, it felt like coming home. I’ve never felt a stronger connection with the main character than I do with Zera. I felt seen when I read the first book. I was suffering from undiagnosed harm OCD at the time, and here was this girl, just as lost as me. She’s not perfect. Zera’s messy, and broken, and learning. Throughout the series, she was on this journey of really learning how to love herself, and we got to see that put into action in this one. I learned a lot from Zera.

Everyone in my life taught me to swim in the ocean of myself.

The writing was utterly beautiful, and while at times I wished there had been more romantic moments (we still got plenty, I’m just greedy), Zera got the beautiful story she deserved. She learned her worth. She found out how to love herself, and love others well. I mean, isn’t that what life’s all about when you strip everything down?

Fear never means nothing - not even when you’re immortal. There’s always the fear of pain. Without death, the fear of pain is the only thing you have left. The only thing that anchors you to the world, to the cycle of life and death like everyone else. One foot in agony, the other in the never-grave. Fear means everything. Fear is all I have.

I mean, have you ever ever read a quote that made you feel so viscerally?? Sara Wolf just knows. She gets it. And let us just take a moment to acknowledge one of my favorite characters: the tamed, giant, six-eyed, rainbow dragon creature that speaks in song. His lines were one of the most beautiful.

"What is gratitude,” the valkerax says softly, “but a promise made whole?”

***

Nobody’s ever really gone. Evlorasin said it best. This is never-goodbye.

And now, of course, a moment of silence for the sass of Lady Fione:

“Hey, what happens if we fall through and die?”

“We fall through and die,” Fiona deadpans.

^ As always, the banter was amazing. The inner dialogue, lyrical. Zera, my homegirl, I love you. The bond between these groups of friends was such a tender thing to witness over the course of the series. And The Ending. It didn’t feel real! I was having to blink back tears. I’m still in shock, I suppose. I will miss these people terribly.

“Will they write books about us, you think?” Lucien asks softly.

I put my head on his shoulder and laugh. “Gods, I hope not.”

A huge thank you to Edelweiss and Entangled Teen for sending me an ARC copy of this beautiful book!

I have absolutely loved watching Zera grow through this entire series and reading alongside her as she sarcastically navigated around her world. The entire fantasy-ness of this world is so awesome, what a cool concept, and now I'm just babbling because I am so content with the ending of this series.

*sighs happily*

The entire friend group is awesome and Ev is so cool. I want a valkarax. Like legitimately want one. Where do I buy one? I bet amazon has one. (Also they are flying gay wyrms. Like literally, yes)

Anyway, off to hide in my room to sulk about finishing this book!

Well this was a very enjoyable series!

I loved the ending! It was amazing to see the return of the wonderful dynamics between the characters that was absent from book 2 (for plot related reasons - no spoilers). I think the third book was a tad on the long side but I still loved it! I thoroughly recommend this series for lovers of YA fantasy fiction and brave, feisty, witty and powerful women. Please note that there are quite of lot of bloody scenes throughout this series so please check out people's content warnings.

Send Me Their Souls
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is by far the most nerve-wracking book I've read in a while. Ugh, I wish I could just teleport into this book and steal this man for myself... Well well. Loved the dynamics between the main characters, as always. Zera and Lucien were too cute in this finale, my heart!
I think I got too invested in the characters and their world throughout reading these books, as the epilogue scared my to death. I have to admit I also cried my eyes out at the end, I think I had a heart attack...
I absolutely love discovering books that feels like a part of me, they fill me with joy.
Ahhh, all the feels! I´m going to reread this for sure❤️.

Send Me Their Souls by Sara Wolf is the third book in the young adult romantic fantasy Bring Me Their Hearts series. This series is definitely one that a reader should start from the beginning and read in order as the story picks up in each book right where the previous had ended so it wouldn’t be understood out of order.

In the first book of the series, Bring Me Their Hearts, readers met Zera who was a Heartless, or a twist on what we know of as a zombie. When Zera’s family was killed by Heartless a witch, Nightsinger, decided to spare Zera by making her into a Heartless herself instead of letting her die. By taking her heart Nightsinger had control of Zera and she became the monster she had feared. A Heartless is very zombie like in the urge to murder and their need for raw meat but still looking human and hanging onto a thread of her humanity Zera wanted nothing more than her heart back and to be human again.

When Nightsinger was approached to allow the use of Zera to infiltrate and get close to Crown Prince Lucien d’Malvane Nightsinger made Zera an offer she couldn’t refuse. If Zera could attempt to pass as human and win the Prince’s heart to allow Nightsinger to take his heart she would trade it for Zera’s own and grant her freedom and her life back. Battling the monster inside of her Zera vows to bring Nightsinger the Prince but if she failed Nightsinger would crush her own heart.

Bring Me Their Hearts was one of those books I became cover obsessed and needed to read simply after a glance and thankfully when I did I really enjoyed it. The material was an original take on an old classic and I loved Zera’s snarky zombiefied self right from the beginning. However, as the books continued they seem to each fizzle a bit more for me. The second book had that middle book feel that nothing seems to resolve and leave one waiting for the end but now with the last book I felt it never regained that original spark for me. Still a decent series but the first book was my favorite.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

I loved this book! I thought that it was an excellent conclusion to a trilogy that I really enjoyed. I get excited about a lot of books but every once in a while, I get my hands on a book that I just cannot wait to read and it gets moved to the top of the pile. This was one of those books. Once I had it loaded on my reader, I couldn't help but to start reading it and once I started there was no stopping.

This is the third book in the Bring Me Their Hearts Trilogy which really needs to be read in order since the book picks up right where the previous one ended. Zera is still Heartless and now her heart is held by a new witch. This witch happens to be the man she loves, Prince Lucien. Zera, along with Lucien, Malachite, and Fione are all determined not only to stop Varia from destroying the world with her control of the Bone Tree but to save her while doing so. They face a lot of really big obstacles in this story but I loved seeing their resolve and I think that they worked really well as a team.

The relationship between Zera and Lucien has been developing throughout the trilogy. I really do like them as a couple and felt like not only do they have fantastic chemistry but that their personalities fit together really well. Things definitely progress in this book beyond simple flirtation into a full relationship. I think that the friendships between all of the members of the group grew a lot over the course of the story and I found it touching how much they would each be willing to risk for each other.

I thought that the overall mission in this story was very well done. There is plenty of excitement in this story that kept me glued to the pages. I loved the way that the story was able to keep me guessing and there were plenty of completely unexpected developments to keep things very interesting. I thought that the series came to a very satisfying conclusion and the epilogue was phenomenal. Can I just say how much I love a well-done epilogue? Well, this epilogue blew me away.

I would highly recommend this trilogy to others. I thought that this was a very well done story that captivated my attention from beginning to end. I definitely plan to read more of Sara Wolf's work in the future.

I received a digital review copy of this book from Entangled: Teen via NetGalley.

Initial Thoughts
I loved this book! I adored the first two books in this series so I just couldn't wait to see how the trilogy would end. This book picks up where the previous book ended and I couldn't wait to see Zera, Lucian, Fione, and Malachite work together to save the day. It has been great to see how much each of the characters have grown over the course of the trilogy. Everything was very well done. The story was exciting and kept me guessing. The romance was fantastic. And the epilogue blew me away.

Trilogy Video Review: Coming Soon

WOW i’m not going to lie to actually be done with one of my all time favorite series is bizarre. I felt I was so ready for this book until it was out and I was hesitate to let these characters and world go.

I have to say this final book was unexpected and specifically my feelings regarding it. I’m going to be talking about it more in my trilogy review of this series since I have so much to say but OVERALL, I highly recommend this trilogy. From Zera, a character I not only related too but loved from her whitty remarks to her vulnerable moments. To the side characters, plot, and fantastical elements.

This series will always have a special place in my heart🖤

“It was never my heart I wanted. What I wanted, always, was to feel human again.”

I'm a sucker for endings and that one was gut-wrenching. They had us in the first half, not gonna lie 😂

I'm almost sad when it ended because I got attached to the characters. It was a fitting end to the series, though the book itself was a little disappointing for me because it lost the appeal that the first and second books had on me.

That didn't stop me from loving this trilogy though! I highly recommend if you're up for a good time 💖

Who’s crying? I’m not crying. What an ending! I love this series. Zera has had a grip on my heart from the very beginning.

Send me their souls is the final book in the trilogy. Zera has come so far in this journey but how will she save the world? Will it be in love or war. Who will survive? I was scarred to see how this was going to end but Sara Wolf didn’t disappoint.

As this story unfolded I was guessing all the way. I loved the romance between Zera and Lucian. She’s heartless but she loves him the best she can. They want to save everyone they care about but it isn’t so simple.

Magic needs balance. When it’s disturbed there is a price. The price is destruction. Our group need to figure out how to stop the end of the world but it seems impossible.

I expected this to be all guns blazing. It didn’t hold any prisoners but the pace was a little slow for my likings. However, I absolutely love this series and I would recommend it to anyone. Each book is a new part of the journey and although it’s a continuous story each part is completely different.

4 Stars out of 5. I’m sad it’s over but loved the ride.

⚠️Warning⚠️: Harsh review incoming because I’m PISSED OFF

(Also minor spoilers)

Ooft okay. I have extremely mixed feelings so please bear with me this baby is gonna be LONG

I would like to start this off by explaining some of the many things that I genuinely loved about this series (& to show that I’m not just hating on this book for the fun of it).

Firstly, the characters. Lucien was always a bit boring for me but he was kind, gentle & loving & a great addition to this merry band of friends. Malachite was refreshing; unwaveringly loyal & always had a witty come-back. Fione was incredibly strong, sweet & intelligent. And Zera. Girl, the constant sass, sarcasm and bad-assery she brought to this story was phenomenal.

Secondly, the world/magic. There were so many nuances to this YA fantasy setting that I found extremely endearing and drew me into the story even more. Not only are there witches and a unique magic-system surrounding them, but Ms Wolf created some other incredibly intriguing creatures and entities that aren’t typically ‘majestic’ or ‘beautiful’, & the power of her witty humour and engaging story-telling allowed them to enrich the world in their own wonderful ways. It could have all been somewhat random as ideas on their own, but the execution brought everything together in a way that just made sense and was extremely satisfying to read about.

Finally, the underlying theme of identity was a layer of the overall plot that grounded Zera’s character and made her even more relatable and easy to root for. She was continuously reflecting and we are given great insight into the depths of her flaws and desires.

Now onto my [somewhat harsh] thoughts for this final instalment:

The only reason this is getting rounded up to 3 stars & not down to the 2 that I feel is more suitable, is because of the first half of the book, the consistent humour that made me chuckle out loud, my boi Malachite, and only 1 aspect of the epilogue (that aspect being it was in the third person). These are the ONLY things that made dragging myself through this even mildly worth it.

I was SO invested in this story, & had such high expectations because the first 2 books were fantastic through and through (seriously, go read those) but now I feel utterly let down.

This has some great reviews so obviously people have enjoyed it (good for them - honestly, I’m jealous), but I stg I do not understand how. THIS WAS NOT A FUN TIME GUYS 🤡

This had me believing it was going somewhere really exciting up until about 50% and then I had to learn how to fucking SKI because it was all downhill from there. I discovered the true, secret purpose behind why this book was written - to be read to people to sully them into a deep and dreamless coma by VERY SLOWLY & PAINFULLY turning their brains into soggy cereal.

WHERE was the propelling plot? WHERE WAS THE FLAVOUR? This was meant to be an epic finale to an exciting and rich series that has been filled with humour, magic & thoughtful commentary. Instead it was pages upon pages of unending thought monologues & a disgusting amount of pointless detail. It all just got to a point where it stopped being thoughtful and insightful and just became uncomfy. So many things towards the latter 50% of this made me physically cringe & I had to flip through multiple scenes that screamed ‘same shit different chapter’ 🙄

Perhaps I’m being too harsh, perhaps the first 2 books were much of the same but I was able to look past it somehow, perhaps I had an aneurysm while reading & now my personality has been completely altered & I’ll have a change of heart in the future. I am open to any & all suggestions as to how exactly I feel like I’ve wasted so much of my time trying to get through this.

This did not live up to the expectations of this series. I am tremendously disappointed. And that epilogue did nothing to redeem the book as a whole. I mean, where tf was Zera exactly for 2 entire years??? AH okay I have to stop I’m getting ✨angry✨

Now I'm off to reminisce about books 1 & 2 & pretend like this one doesn’t exist 😌

✨|| SEND ME THEIR SOULS || ✨

This is the finale to a series that I recently read and exponentially loved. It will be a trilogy that I will recommend to everybody, reader or not. It’s so masterfully and beautifully written, the plot gripping and the magic so wicked. In a world where witches have Heartless as slaves, monsters once human, now in eternal servitude to their owners, their endless hunger an evil entity within.

Zera, our Heartless, so fierce, beautiful and expressive, even without a heart, she seems to shine amongst all. With her wit and sly humour, she grabs everyone’s attention, including my teddy bear, my shining in armour, Prince Lucien. She is what made this trilogy so entrapping. She with her sarcasm always wielded, fighting against the terrifying hunger calling out. Throughout the series, you watch as she learns to finally live happily, to love whole-(un)heartedly, to have true friends, and to be cared for, when all she thought was that she would forever be alone, the hunger her only companion.

The magic and the world-building are truly extraordinary and so refreshing and original. You can really tell just how hard this wonderful author worked her butt off to create such a masterpiece. A masterpiece that is drastically underrated. Why are people sleeping on this series? Its literal ecstasy.

In this last book (such tragedy, give me a moment *sniffs*) we start off right where it ended in the second book, after Varia takes power from The Bone Tree and calls upon the terrifying Valkerax (seriously these things will give you nightmares) to the Above. It started so fast and painfully unpredictable; my heart was squeezing itself so hard it hurt. It was a torment.

What I love the absolute most is the pure and utter feeling of trust and friendship between Zera, Lucien, Malachite and Fione. The fierce protectiveness and love they have for each other is what helped each of them up stand and fight during their worst. A promise that they will always be together, in life and undead. I love these characters with all of my heart, almost as if they were real and beside me.

The romance will rip your heart out, trample it, shred it and put it all back together again. Lucien and Zera are perfect, Witch and Heartless. How they fought for each other, stood beside each other and loved one other so ferociously gave me literal miniscule heart attacks. Plural. They burned for each other, hurt for each other towards the very end. They deserve all the happiness and peace in the world.

I adore Malachite with all my heart, I want to laugh with him, joke with him, to be his best friend like he is with Lucien. He’s hilarious, protective, so trusting and sincere. The fact that he was so begrudgingly happy to see Zera and Lucien together and having her back on their side made me want to happy cry. I really wish we could’ve gotten a bit more about him and his personal life (that is who he ended up with, I NEED TO KNOW)

The emotion, the FEELS, the humour, the originality, its literally perfect. I’m going to say it, I love them more than I do SJM’s books, and that’s saying something. That should convince anyone to pick this up. It will make your heart spasm. It will definitely make you cry; I can assure you, considering how hard I did towards the end.

This series will always be close to my heart, something about it just sings loud and golden. I know it will make me tear up every time I read it, as if I’m reading it for the first time, and will always forevermore be close to my heart.

Bring Me Their Souls by Sara Wolf

2.5 out of 5 Stars

***ARC received from Entangled: Teens Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for honest review, opinions are all my own. Thank you!***

Well… Hmm… This was a trilogy that started out strong and then slowly fell apart by the time it made it to the end of the third book.

After the explosive ending of Find Me Their Bones, Varia has unleashed the valkerax and fallen under control of the Bone Tree and our group of heros is left to find a way to stop her from destroying everything.

Bring Me Their Souls spend a lot of time exploring the larger world, having finally broken free from the walls of Cavanos to explore the broader world of the series. The book doesn’t spend too much time in each area but it was nice to see a bigger part of the world. Maybe it would have worked better to cut down on the amount of place because one is never allowed to really be fully developed. If they had spent a large chunk of the book in say two locations is would have made things more fascinating. I found the place with the witches the most interesting. We haven’t had much with the rest of the witches outside of Varia since the first book so getting to revisit them and explore more about a witches power and the creation of the Heartless. The only other world that we visit that was really interesting was the archives, I loved the idea of folks that trade in knowledge and wish we had gotten more time with them.

The concept of the trees was so interesting and how humans and witches can corrupt them for their own uses. But like much of the rest they are underutilized and become more of just an interesting concept than fully fleshed out idea. By the time we get to them having figured it out it feels jammed into the back of the book.

I guess that is my biggest issue, for the longest book in the series nothing really happened. The group moves from one situation to the next and it doesn’t help the story flow. There is no real tension, Varia is laying waste to the world and the group acts like its just a fun outing to see the world. That might have to do with the non stop humor and quipping particularly from Zera and Mal. Injecting humor can work to help relieve tension or to portray a characters unease in a situation but this book does not seem to know how to balance that out. They are involved in some pretty serious battles (that mostly happen off page), thousands of people are dying around them and they are about to make a last ditch might not even work plan and folks are squabbling like children and Zera makes a joke about her sexy knee. Maybe it works for others but I absolutely could not get past how forced and out of place it felt. If the book wanted to be more of a lighthearted humorous romp around the world, don’t set it to the backdrop of war and death because it never allowed me to get invested in the story so that I fully cared for the characters or their choices.

There were some interesting bits, particularly Zera finally coming full circle with her Heartless status and the terrible price Lucien will pay for overusing his magic but it gets lost in a disjointed and meandering story.

WOW

DANG FLABBIT I am sad this series is over 😭😭

I mean Zera is for sure one of my favorite female MCs of all time!! Her sass, her snark, her immature quips at the most awkward moments —- please give it alllll to me!! I also loved her selflessness, her self sacrificing tendencies and complete ability to be so spot on with how lonely she felt at times 💕 overall she felt so real and raw to me as a character!

Not to mention I liked Lucien a lot. He was the perfect little soft boy prince and was always so cute and sweet to Zera. The romance bits in this were ADORABLE 😍

Fione was also super courageous although I feel like her character was a bit underplayed in this. Malchete was also super SNARK and loved Yorle!! All the characters in this were lovely.

I will admit this book was a bit slow at times and the plot felt a little gapy to me?? Like I wasn’t confused but I was left wanting more info and more what is going ON HERE?? The ending also had some gaps for me like what happened to Zera!! (Won’t give spoilers but closure was not given on some accounts)

That being said the ending was still solid and overall this book was a solid conclusion to a series I loved even if it wasn’t my fav book in the series.... I still really loved these books!!! I’m curious as to more of Sara Wolfs other novels now 👀👀

*4 STARVING WOLF STARS*

I love everything about this series. I love Zera, I love Lucien, I love Malachite and Fione, I love all the side characters and other creatures!

The only reason that I'm not giving this 5 stars is that I feel like the pacing was a little off sometimes, it felt very drawn-out and I feel like not a lot was happening most of the time. Then there was that ending which left me with more questions than answers. Suddenly too much was happening at once. I'm so confused, about everything.

This book gives off entirely different vibes than the first two. I think I loved those just a tiny bit better!

Such a beautiful ending to an amazing series. I sincerely hope Sara continues to write more YA fantasy, I'm really sad to leave these characters behind.

3 of 5 stars at The BiblioSanctum https://bibliosanctum.com/2021/01/24/...

Overall, this was a fantastic trilogy that I was sad to see end, but truth be told, Send Me Their Souls was probably the weakest of the three books. Zera’s duplicity and her dogged persistence in trying to get her heart back what I loved best, and while I’m happy she found more worthy causes to live for and all, over time this has resulted in the series losing some of its zing.

Send Me Their Souls picks up immediately where the last book ended and begins by quickly resolving the cliffhanger that it left us with (once more confirming to me that it really wasn’t needed, but I’ve already complained enough about that in my reviews of the previous volumes) by reuniting Zera with Lucien, Malachite, and Fione. Without spoiling things for those who haven’t caught up to this point, a war has begun and the enemy they are up against is one that they are very familiar with, which complicates things greatly. However, the fate of the world is on the line, and as the crown prince, Lucien knows his people are depending on him to do what needs to be done.

But just how far will he go to save the people he loves? With no one to keep the use of his powers in check, Zera fears that Lucien would burn himself out with his magic, and now that she is bound to him as his Heartless, his death would mean the end of her too. More importantly, Zera now cares for Lucien, more than she thought she could ever care for anyone. For the first time in her life, she has people she can call true friends, and what good would it be to get her heart back if it means everyone she loves will be gone?

The first half of this book follows a quest narrative, so I guess I was surprised and a bit disappointed to find much of it quite uneventful. These sections were mostly dominated by dialogue, but readers invested in the romance between Zera and Lucien would probably enjoy the back-and-forth a lot more than I did. The author spends plenty of time developing their relationship, but a lot of it involves retreading old ground, repeating again and again this cycle of Lucien beating himself up for not being able to do more, and Zera beating herself up for not being able to be more supportive. Needless to say, there’s also an obnoxious amount of fawning on both their parts, with cheerleaders Malachite and Fione in the background, chiming with a never-ending supply of sappy cornball remarks. As I said before, Zera’s new friendships have completely changed the dynamic of her interactions with everyone, and while I can’t think of no one more deserving of her newfound happiness, it has admittedly made the series less interesting to me as a whole.

It also made the characters’ behaviors and the overall storyline more predictable, and aside from the events in the conclusion, nothing really surprised me or kept me guessing the way the first two books did. The ending was quite different, I have to say, but though I appreciated that it went in a direction I did not foresee, the execution was a bit awkward and confusing. I felt like I might have missed something, and the epilogue also dragged on well past its expiration date, which is a shame because I think a more abrupt ending would have been more effective at delivering the poignant and emotional impact the author intended.

Still, I don’t want to make it sound like I didn’t enjoy this book, since I’m aware I’ve probably been doing a lot more complaining than praising. Many of the elements I loved from the previous volumes are also present in this one, and I guess I’ve been taking some of it for granted! The world-building continues to be awesome, though a lot of it I can’t talk about—including the stuff about valkeraxes and the Bone Tree—in case I inadvertently reveal too much. And even with the changes in Zera, I still adore her. She’s one of the most spirited and fun YA protagonists I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading, and she can still wisecrack with the best of them, returning verbal ripostes like a champ. I’m really going to miss her now that this series is over.

For all those reasons, I’m not too upset even though Send Me Their Souls was probably my least favorite of the Bring Me Their Hearts trilogy. Even with its flaws, though, I would still recommend these books, especially if you are a fan of YA fantasy romance, because then you’d likely not have the same gripes I did and enjoy this ending a lot more.

Audiobook Comments: Em Eldridge did a good job narrating the audio edition, though my only criticism would be that her voice for Zera sounded slightly flat and lacking in emotion, especially for such a feisty character. All her other voices were spot on though, and overall I’m happy I got to review the audiobook.

3 or 3,5 stars... Not sure yet, lol.

A bit sad this series is over now, because I really loved spending time in this world, with these characters and the author's writing.

Have to say though: I'm a bit disappointed with the last part of the book though, because that felt a bit too superficial for me. I missed a bit of more in depth closure on some parts and personally would've loved it of there'd be a more extended 'development' of the plot towards the end. This was all a bit too predictable for my taste, a bit too 'mellow' I guess?

But despite all that, I'd definitely still recommend reading this trilogy, because overall it's such a fun and addictive story-line to follow from beginning till end! In the future, I'll definitely be doing a re-read at one point.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Zera and her friends are back in this conclusion to the Bring Me Their Hearts trilogy. With the Bone Tree possessing Varia, what lengths will Zera, Lucien, Mal, and Dione go to in order to bring her back from the edge? How will they defeat her and her army of Valkarax, and what of the war between witches and mortals?

I thoroughly enjoyed this trilogy. When I first requested it on NetGalley I had no clue that it was the final book in a trilogy but I'm so glad I did. Sara Wolf weaves great story telling with touching moments and light humor, creating characters that are always engaging and who don't take themselves and their destiny too seriously. It's hard to say which book in this trilogy was my favorite, they all had exactly what I needed to keep me interested at all different points of the trilogy. No complaints as to how the story wrapped up or the costs that were paid.

Overall, I enthusiastically recommend this entire trilogy to anyone 12+. This conclusion is sure to make you feel like that the time spent with these characters was well spent.

You can find the full review and all the fancy and/or randomness that accompanies it at It Starts at Midnight

The Bring Me Their Hearts series has been such a breath of fresh air in the YA fantasy genre, and its finale is no exception. It is certainly a dark series, but infused with humor and a uniqueness that makes it so, so enjoyable. Finales are always a little tricky to review, for fear of spoilers, so I'll keep it brief!

As in the first two books in the series, Zera and her friends are on another high stakes quest (and explaining that would give away too much from book two, but they're trying to like, save people and such) that of course is incredibly dangerous. But it also leaves them with some time for more relationship forming (romantic and friendships alike), and a lot of character development. Zera is, as always, comedic gold. She just has such a sharp, witty sense of humor that made her a truly unique character. Not only that, but the snarky banter she shares with her friends is always great.

My only complaint was that the pacing was a bit slow for me. But that was made up for with the character and relationship developments, as well as a great deal of emotional tension throughout. I felt quite content with the ending, even though I was sad to leave behind such a lovely cast of characters!

Bottom Line: If you've read the other two books, this conclusion will undoubtedly satisfy you. If you haven't started, I suggest you do so!

A good ending for the series. I'm not super into YA right now, so I probably would have liked it even more if I wasn't struggling enjoying YA so much, but I still liked this, which says something.

Content: language; some sexual content (nothing too graphic)

I can't believe it's over! Okay this book was just as amazing as the first two and I kinda had a suspicion from the start on how the main problem will be solved so I wasn't really that surprised when they found out how to stop everything. Lucien and Zera are both swoon-worthy and I'm so happy that they finally have some time to spend together after all those yearnings and betrayals from the previous books.

The only reason why I gave this a 4 out of 5 stars is because, as I have mentioned a while ago, the solution to their problem was quite obvious from the 2nd book. There were also some parts of the book where it felt like it was dragging and I had to stop reading for a while just to bring back my excitement over the turn of events.

Another problem of mine was that I felt like the Epilogue could be written better. The author could probably make 4-5 chapters out of it instead of mashing all "after" events into one chapter. As a reader who has been with Zera from the start, of course I want a more in-depth explanation on where she's been and how she's still alive. Merely saying that eveyone was happy to see her doesn't do justice for me after everything they've been through. Like, where was she for three years?

Overall, I had fun reading this series and I hope Sara Wolf would write more fantasy books!
