The Immortality Trials: The Complete Collection

Rate this book
What if Hercules wasn’t the hero we all thought he was?

His daughter, Lyssa, knows just how cruel he can be. But she has left that life behind and now her battered smugglers ship, the Alastor, flies under everyone’s radar - just how she likes it.

The Gods have a different plan for her though. They’re about to break one of their only rules and grant a worthy hero a chance to win the ultimate prize – immortality. And Lyssa and Hercules are two of the lucky heroes offered the chance to compete.

Twelve gods, twelve realms, twelve trials. And for Lyssa, they’re about so much more than an eternal life. They’re about facing the monster from her past and stopping him from becoming truly untouchable.

She never wanted to let the world know that she inherited some of her father’s immense power. But maybe it’s time to show them all.

You’ve never read Greek mythology like this before…

This omnibus contains the novels Skies of Olympus, Tides of Olympus, Storms of Olympus and Fires of Olympus in one complete collection, (RRP 10.96).

Reviewers are saying...

“This is hands down the most interesting version of Greek mythology that I have ever encountered. What you thought you knew about the Greek Gods and Hercules is completely thrown away, and instead something completely new replaced it and boy did I enjoy this version!” Katherine at Smadas Book Smack

"Eliza Raine has done a wonderful job expanding the unique world of Olympus she has created, bringing it to life with her always vivid descriptions. Not only that, though. Each character derives straight from the ancient myths, each name has a deeper and actual meaning and is appropriately assigned, proving that she's done a serious research of every aspect of the story and the characters before putting it to writing. If you like mythology, then "The Immortality Trials" series is a definite must read!" Amazon Reviewer

“Eliza Raine has taken the classic myths, heroes and gods and created a new, unique world, that drew me right into it. Apart from the excellent storyline, there is a variety of characters -gods, humans, paranormal creatures- that are exceptionally developed. The plot is fast-paced and full of adventures, with great twists, while the descriptions are so vivid that made me feel part of the story. I can't wait for the next instalment!” Amazon Reviewer

“Eliza Raine has herself one hell of a story… The story twist and turns and has you wrapped up in so much so that you can't put it down. So if you like Greek mythology you will love this book , but even if you're not a fan of it don't pass up the chance to read a fantastic story. You will not be disappointed in this book at all.” Goodreads reviewer

"This is such a refreshing twist on the entire Greek mythology, and it's hard not to enjoy seeing what the author has plotted together next. Lyssa is an amazing, girl-power character, who has as much to learn as she has talent and wit. While in many ways she's the underdog in these adventures, that's not what makes her easy to cheer for. She's courageous, kind-hearted and determined. Despite those around her and temptation from every direction, she remains pretty solid in her moral boundaries." Amazon Reviewer

3.5⭐️. Phew that was a long one! I enjoyed this, but it was very different from what I expected based on the other books that I have read by this author. Her other books, like The Hades Trials (which is still one of my all-time favorite books to this day) had quite a bit of spice so I was anticipating this book to be the same, however, there were no open door scenes and it was the slowest of slow burns. So the romance portion of this book was missing something for me. However, I did really like the trials and how they were a mix of strength and skill and mental tasks. They kept me on the edge of my seat and I liked that no crew ever had a clear lead so you didn’t really know how it was going to play out in the end.

I was really bummed though that Lyssa and her crew didn’t win immortality. I wish they just would have killed Hercules at the very last second instead of the whole hydra blood thing.

My favorite part of the book was when Theseus used his one wish from the gods to bring Abderos back to life. It made me cry. Theseus was such a good dude.

‘Skies of Olympus’ book one trials 1 - 3.

Lyssa may be the daughter to the famous Hercules, but she wants nothing to do with him. He murdered her mother and brother in front of her and if she didn’t run she would have been killed as well. To make things worse none of the gods did anything to punish him. Four years later Lyssa is now a Captain of her own Ship the Alastor. When Athena appears on the Alastor, saying she is presenting Lyssa as her champion for the upcoming Immortal Trials, Lyssa denies the invitation. After hearing that Hercules is participating she decides that she will do whatever it take to prevent him for winning.

I have read the Hades and Ares Trials by this author and I just fell in love with the World that was created by Ms Raine. So when I realised that there was another series based in the same world I just knew I had to job on board and read it. Although the events that take place in this series are prior to the other series I never felt like I had any spoilers. The series may take place in the same world, but they are all unique and independent. Yes there may have been a few little insiders of events or people but it was still a great journey and experience reading this book.

Reading the turmoil and heartache that Lyssa has experienced thanks to her father was heart wrenching. But seeing how strong she has come out from it, was a sight.

Ms Raine is one exceptional author I have loved her rendition/retellings of the Mythological Greek Gods. Getting to read Hercules’ story as him as the evil, cruel sadistic man was definitely an eye opener. I can’t wait to see how this series goes. There is definitely potential in this series.

‘Tides of Olympus’ book trials 4-6.

One win each to the Hybris, Orion and Alastor ships. With the fourth trial already underway Lyssa with her crew fresh off a win must get Abderos back to the Alastor. A new crew member, a missing member and a win, sounds like things are starting to heat up.

Ummmm, excuse me, what was that ending? I am not ok with that brutality and cruelty i just read. The Alastor has enough on their plate.

I knew this series was going to be awesome after read ‘Skies of Olympus’ but I had absolutely no idea what to expect. I will say this wow, wow, oh WOW!! We’ve all heard the tales of the might Hercules, but this retelling is off the charts ridiculous fantastic. But OMG I am NOT a fan of Hercules one bit.

One thing I had some trouble with was the constant change in POVs. I understand the reasoning behind it to give us insight into what the other ships are up to, but I found it frustrating times. Now one characters POV that I would have really enjoyed was Phyleus’ or even Epizon, These guys would have been great to get into.

These trials are really getting more complicated and harder with each one that is completed. I am so looking forward to seeing what the next three Gods have in store for the participants.

It so freaking hard trying to write this review when there is so much going on in the book I just want to talk about but if I do it’s going to spoil more then the story it will ruin your experience.

‘Storms of Olympus’ book three trials 7-9.

The Alastor and Hybris are in equal first place with two wins each. The last trial in Scorpio saw Epizon severely injured possibly dead from Hercules, thanks to Lyssa and the rest of the Alastor crew, they were able to get Ep in the ship and away from Hercules. Half way through the trials, things are heating up and not looking too good for some of the contestants. Will the Alastor be able to win the trials? Will Epizon survive? Does Hercules get punished for attacking Lyssa and Ep.

Seriously what is Hercules’ deal? This guy has a serious problem and I really hope that Lyssa is able to defeat him. This guy needs to have some major sense knocked into him. Oh also Hedone, love you need help as well, I know it’s not entirely your fault but girl WTAF... Theseus you loveable guy, you have to be the most sweetest and perfect man, your heart is just so big. Abderos 😭 why, why, why?

As you can tell by my cryptic and random rambling there is some major events that take place in this book. Warning be prepared to have your heart ripped out cause things are going to be seriously messed up and it doesn’t look good.

Ok Ms Raine what was going on in your life when you wrote this book? This book took me on one hell of an emotional roller coaster, it starts off with a bang and ends with an even bigger explosion, and don’t even get me started on the middle events...

A Large Bull, Fire-breathing-flesh-eating Horses, Amazonian’s, need I say anymore to convince anyone to read this book?

Seeing each character grow and flourish with every new trial that is presented. Relationships and formed, pasts and revealed, futures and hoped for. Ahhh I am so nervous for the final book and the final three trials...

‘Fires of Olympus’ book four trials 10-12.

Nine trials down and the last three remaining belong to the top three Gods Poseidon, Zeus and Hades. One ship the Virtus has pulled out of the trials leaving the Alastor, Orion and Hybris left.

Karma is a biatch, but what a perfect brand of justice she brings...

From the beginning I knew that this series was going to be an emotional roller coaster with an exceptional story and wonderful characters. I am so glad that I was not let down. I had so many high hopes for this and Ms Raine had done a phenomenal job with this retelling of what we think about the Greek Gods. Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for bring this world and characters to life. I can’t wait to see what else you give us from this world.

I really have no idea where to start or what to say in this review. So mush happens that I want to scream and shout about but I can’t. It just wouldn’t be fair or very nice of me to ruin your experience of this nail biting, edge of your seat journey. So buckle in and enjoy the ride cause it’s going to rock your socks off.

I have loved each and every word right from the very beginning of book one. I just never wanted to put the series down. Four books just didn’t seem like enough. I needed to know how things were going to work out, but when I got to the end, I was lost and sad, I wasn’t ready to say good bye. Even now, which it has been several hours since I finished, that I am still thinking about this series.

ONE REFRESHING ADVENTURE!!!
Thrilling! Eliza brought all the heat and magic, revving up the adrenaline and ingenuity, kicking ass and taking names, blasting through the gates of hell with a vengeance, fusing this little bundle together flawlessly. A tumultuous wild ride chocked-full of unsettling mishaps and surprising circumstances, swirl with the formidable trials and challenging tribulations, spinning alongside the stunning twists and wicked turns, testing our characters in ways they could have never imagined. Shenanigans, escapades and havoc run amuck, rousting the drama, anxiety, intrigue, turmoil, danger, mounting suspense and intense situations along with a boatload of revelations, you have one jaw dropping experience. The characters are complex and genuine with traits and qualities that add depth and realism that blend and flow, transforming into amazing personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions that feel as though you were transported to ground zero with them. Fantastic job Eliza, thanks for sharing this little bundle with us.

Love it!

Characters and scenery were beautiful. Love the interpretation of the Greek mythology. Just enough romance, the character arch was perfect.

Kill Hercules. For the past four years Lyssa has had one goal. Kill her murdering father Hercules. She saw him murder her mother and younger brother and she escaped before Hercules could kill her. She is also the granddaughter of Zeus so she has powers, strength just like her father. She is the captain of her own air ship and her crew is like family. She would die to save them and vice versa. Now forced by Athena to compete in the Immortality Trials against her father and two other teams, her goal is to kill Hercules, or at least stop him from winning. Because if he becomes immortal, no one will be safe. But his cruelty could be his downfall. He is brutal and spiteful to his crew, and they might just defect to another team. Will this be enough to beat him or is he too strong, especially with Zeus helping him. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The complete series is 4 books spanning 26 hours of recorded audio. Quite an investment, but worth it.

This is not the typical retelling of Hercules. In mythology, he did kill his family but with great remorse. The 12 labors were his atonement. However in this series, a daughter escapes death at her fathers hand so she can grow up to hate him. This Hercules isn’t repentant, he’s cruel and a worthy villain. Totally hate that guy now. There’s a lot of action, as the 12 labors of Hercules were converted into “trials” where four teams are vying for immortality. Aside from the action, there’s a bit of romance. The author does keep everything totally PG13 and the good bits are left to your imagination as the scene leading up it fades to black each time. The characters were pretty good all in all, as well.

As for the audio, this series is read by one of my favorite narrators: Elizabeth Evans. She did a great job, of course!

A stunningly thrilling and enjoyable series! Perfect for those that love fantasy with a touch of Greek mythology and swashbuckling smugglers on a flying ship!
The series has really great characters (each with their own arcs and room for growth) and I really enjoyed following Lyssa and her crew through the immortality trials, as they battled the competition and dealt with their own demons (and relationships).
And the slow burn romance between Lyssa and a certain prince is so good (full of banter, angst and chemistry).

Highly recommend this series for those that enjoy fantasy romance, magical tournaments, mythical creatures and found families.

Its the first time I have read work by this author and I loved it! I will definitely be looking more at Eliza Raine’s books!

NB: the series is available on KU and the audible narration is by the fabulously talented Elizabeth Evans (the reason I came across this series).

This book takes on the tale of Hercules spins it in a whole new way. Hercules is now the bad guy and he is nasty. The trials he went through are now part of the immortal trials and there are four competitors. One is his daughter Lyssa who will stop at nothing to prevent him from becoming immortal and reining down his brand of torment for an entirinty. Olympus is made of zodiac Island with each God or Goddess ruling one and a trial on each. Each competitor navigates a ship that sails through the sky. It's a fantastic mix of mythology and fantasy. The drama and action never cease and you will never guess who will win the tournament. Loved every minute of it. I volunteered to read this book via Booksprout.

Greek mythology like never before. This omnibus contains: Skies of Olympus, Tides of Olympus, Storms of Olympus and Fires of Olympus.

The stories we have heard about Hercules are twisted in this collection to portray him as a bad-guy this time around. His daughter, Lyssa, knows first-hand just how cruel he can be. So when she and her father are offered a chance to compete in trials where the worthy hero will win immortality, it may be time to reveal the fact that she has inherited some of her father’s immense power and he will have his work cut out for him if he intends to defeat her! If she fails, the monster from her past will haunt her forever!

Overall a decent read

Overall a decent read, but had a few issues with the ending and all of Hedone chapters.

In the beginning Hedone becomes mind controlled by Aphrodite (this happens in the first chapter) after that I had no interest in her as she was a victim who couldn’t do anything aka being mind controlled.

Evadne was my favorite character as she was the most developed.

Spoilers - some

The ending was only ok- as I didn’t care for the fact that the gods were children playing with toys, the prize wasn’t all it should’ve been and the final attack didn’t make sense considering what happened earlier.

Otherwise didn like the main character, and hades

An incredible collection of all 12 Immortality Trials collection by Eliza Raine! A true Goddess of Mythological Fantasy! Follow Lyssa the daughter of Hercules as she battles not only for the chance to become immortal in the trials set by the gods but faces her past and her father. A twist on the classic mythology tales that has you gripping the imaginary pages in this powerful story that shows you don't have to follow the destined path but can create your own legend. Well written with engaging and charismatic characters

Better then I thought

I started off thinking that this book would fall under the normal girl is strong until she meets her match trope. It was super refreshing to not only have the male lead step back and let her be the strong one, but to not try to protect her from all the bad. He was her partner and let her lead the way. He was still strong and helped as was needed. I also liked how each God still stayed true to their own personalities that are more common in the myths. All in all, a very good read.

This is an interesting and fun series of books. I really enjoy stories with Greek Mythology and I liked the twists the author put on some of the characters in this series.
The books focus on Hercules, his daughter Captain Lyssa and the rivalry between them. The two are in a competition to gain immortality and each book follows them through the trials they have to complete.
Their tale is filled with lots of action, suspense and surprises.
I really enjoyed the ending.

New, Amazing, incredible, page turning, enlightening!

It was one of the best series I have ever read. I may have felt I was in a rut reading wise and this pulled me right out of it. Something different, based in history and yet warped in beautiful amazing ways. I may have thought the Hunger games was good but this beats it ten times over. Passion, intrigue, danger, love. Give it a go, you won’t ever regret it.

If you like new takes on the Greek myths then buy this book. Here Hercules is the bad guy and his daughter Lyssa is out to get him back for the murder of her mother and brother. The plot is engaging and the airships have a Peter Pan vibe in a good way. Best of all it's just the start of an action-packed series. The author - Eliza Raine has a degree in history and you can feel her knowledge in the world building.

Immortality trials

This set of books cover so much. Different story about Hercules. I read the whole set in a week. Reading about the different stories about what the terms had to grow through at such young lives. The lives they meet and loose. Family that's not bad up of blood relations but who they have been through such hard ships with. Enjoyable books. Didn't want to put it down.

I read the Hades & Ares trials first & I'm glad I did (I enjoyed them) because if I would have read the immortal trials first, I probably wouldn’t have picked them up. The first 5 trials seemed to drag & it FINALLY picked up & got interesting around trial 6 but then everything was moving very quickly & ended abruptly in my opinion. The plot seemed really interesting but I just could not get into it.

Don't depend on your knowledge of Greek mythology to tell you who the good guys or bad guys are. Life is life, and it not that easy to know who wears the white hat and who doesn't, because circumstances and situations are complex.

.. I found all of the character portrayals an extremely fascinating take on Hercules, Lyssa, Phyleus, and the others thoroughly enjoyable. The trials were unique, terrifyingly vivid, yet entertaining. I am eagerly awaiting further books from you.

Ehh

I didn’t care for this book, I’m not big on ancient storylines so it would have been nice knowing that it was. The book was well written and while I didn’t care for it it’s only because of my own personal preferences!

Definitely a YA

I've read this authors other series, The Hades series and The Aries series and those are 18+. I did enjoy these books but if you are looking for steamy scenes, then look again. I love Greek Mythology and this is a very good 13+ books due to the violence.
