I love this cover, which in my opinion is cute and sexy. I fell in love with the cover from the moment I laid eyes on it. Then the story, which laid in between this awesome cover, stole my heart piece by piece.

Secondly. I know zilch about dog sledding, but one thing I know is Nome-O Seeks Juliet, which is told from dual POVs, is a well-written story, which will tug on your heartstrings and likely to leave you in a blubbering mess.
The story introduced readers to flawed and relatable characters. We have Cody, a marine who had was honorably discharged, and placed on permanent disability retirement. Since his retirement, his life has not been easy, because not only was he physically disable; he was mentally and emotionally broken. He found solace in dog sledding and managing his team of dogs. He lived a life of seclusion in Nome. He is not looking for romance, as he believes no woman would want to be with him much less to fall in love with him. However, his passion for dog sledding and his dreams of entering one of the biggest dog sled competitions would lead to him finding his Juliet.

Cody and Juliet made for a perfect couple. She saw beyond his disability, and in the process brought him hope and love. Cody has a heart of gold, which he demonstrated in his behaviour towards his dogs and Juliet. Cody has a heart of gold, which he demonstrated in his behaviour towards his dogs and Juliet. The author did a great job in detailing Cody's past. Details, which made my heart bleed for him. I felt his pain and understood why he felt the need to live in seclusion. I loved how he grew through out the story.

I enjoyed the romance, which I found sweet, honest and passionate. What I loved most was the slow burn of their relationship. They were not attracted to each other at first sight; in fact, their initial meeting was awkward. As the story progressed, their feelings for each other grew until it became an inferno. The love scenes were sizzling, which had the potential to set my kindle on fire.

I have to admit I was unprepared for the emotions the story evoked. It had me reaching for tissues occasionally. I got lost in the story as I rooted for Cody and Juliet.

Conclusion / Recommendation
Overall, Nome-O Seeks Juliet was an enjoyable read. Those who enjoy sweet, passionate, and angst free romance would enjoy this latest offering by Katy Regnery.

My thanks to Wildfire Marketing Solutions for the opportunity to read Nome-O Seeks Juliet in exchange for an honest review.

Oh my geez! What a fantastic love story. I can honestly say that there is not a single book of Katy Regnery that I don’t love. If you are a fan of The Summerhaven Trio, The English Brothers or The Winslow Brothers series this new Odds-Are-Good series is definitely for you.

Cody Garrison is a retired U.S Marine who is a bit broken physically and mentally. He is living a seclude life in Nome Alaska surrounding by his beloved dogs. Cody’s big dream is to enter the Iditarod dog sledding race but first he needs a female partner to race in the Qimmiq mix doubles. Cody placed an ad in the Odds-Are Good paper. Juliet is a fourth-year veterinary student who is working on a project on treatment and care of sled dogs. Juliet’s project and personal life is falling apart at the seam so she thought it would be a good opportunity to get out of town. What better idea than to move far away to Alaska and join Mr. Nome-o for the Qimmiq race. I don’t know about you but I LOVE myself a broken hero! Cody is hot, sweet and caring. It’s melt my heart the way he cares for his animals. Cody doesn’t have the best upbringing but this man loves hard! I adore Juliet – she is independent, sassy, fierce, hard working. I love that Cody and Juliet’s relationship is sweet and honest. There is no mind game. They are always truthful and real with how they feel about each other and that is so refreshing. The chemistry is incredible and the sex scenes doesn’t disappoint. These two are on fire!!! There are also many very emotional parts which took me by surprise so get some tissues ready.
I can’t gush over this book enough – well-developed characters check, picturesque scenery check, beautiful romance check, unique plot check. I am not surprise that I am completely falling in love with this series. A Fairbanks Affair can’t come fast enough … MUST READ!!!

I loved it! Loved both Cody and Juliet. Quite reminiscent to The Vixen and the Vet but also very different. There was a bit of Beauty and the Beast feel to it.

So far this series is very good. I'm closing these books with a big happy smile on my face. Can't wait for the next one. Happy reading!

This book...oh God I lovvved it!

This is the second in the Odds-Are-Good series (that's the name of an Alaskan newspaper /magazine that mainly contains personal ads for Alaskan men to meet women from the lower 48).
In this story, retired disabled vet Cody (34), who lives in Nome, places an ad--"Nome-o Seeks Juliet"; Must Love Dogs. Cody is looking for a sled dog racing partner to enter a co-ed race. It's essential he enters this preliminary race if he wants to enter the Iditirod.

Juliet, a veterinary student applying for a fellowship grant has plans to shadow a professional musher for 3 months, and then write a study on the relationship between sled dogs and their owners. But when her plans fall through at the last minute, she's forced to consider the ad---or give back her grant money. But she never thought about actually participating in a race--could she do that, and still write her paper?
It's off to Alaska we go to live and work with a handsome stranger...

Cody and Juliet get off to an awkward start. Cody is severely self-conscience about his disfigured hands (the result of an exploding IED) and has shut himself away for 13 years largely because of that. He's content to live in relative isolation, existing on his disability pension and an Alaskan oil subsidy. He has all he needs with his trusted dog Viola, his sled dogs, his two bedroom chalet/cabin, and his friends Jonas and Rita. Life has dealt Cody some cruel blows, and he's lost the desire to hope for something more in life. But when the lovely Juliet enters his life, and they slowly become friends, and then something more....maybe it's not too late to strive for something more.

I loved so much about this story. First of all I'm a sucker for a tortured/injured hero. Whether it's physical or emotional --I want to read about him. And if a woman can free him emotionally, I want to read it. And this book had it. Cody was broken, and even described himself as broken. But I loved how he let Juliet help put himself back together again. Yes Cody, there's a lot of living to do!

Juliet was a strong heroine. Smart, beautiful, confident, courageous, loving....I could go on and on. She was the missing piece that Cody needed to become the man he could be. They had such a strong emotional as well as physical connection, that when they were apart it was painful for them. They had a major stumbling block that threatened their almost perfect relationship, and it was real and believable and I was hoping that they could figure it out because I Wanted Them Together!

I also love a story where I learn something. I enjoyed reading about sled dogs and the training involved to race them (exhausting!) You can tell the author really did her homework with this story.

I loved the slow build of the relationship of Cody and Juliet. Starting out as awkward strangers who weren't sure about the other, then becoming co workers and then friends, and finally lovers (so, so hot)!
I loved seeing Cody get his confidence back as a man, and I loved when Juliet realized that Cody was IT for her.

If you're looking for something slightly different than the same old romance, give this one a try. It's got an interesting premise, wonderful characters who will give you all the feels, plenty of heat, and you may even shed a tear or two. I highly recommend it.

I really should have paid better attention to the GoodReads blurb for this. Because oh man I was so not ready for all the feels. And I do mean ALL the feels. Which is kind of stupid of me since I know how perfectly Katy always mixes the perfect blend of emotions, heat and storyline. But I really didn't expect to be ugly crying while reading it.

Now before I go any further, yes I cried like a teenage girl, however this book wasn't sad and depressing. There was a little angst and I was so immersed in the story I am pretty sure I was holding my breath for half of the story. It was bearable angst but I was dying to see how Cody and Juliet were going to get around it.

I adored Juliet so much. She was just perfect and so strong yet so caring and compassionate. And I loved Cody just as much. His story was heartbreaking and yeah he did hide away from the world but I really couldn't blame him. And although he wasn't confident he wasn't wallowing in self pity.

They were such a great couple and the relationship between them felt like it progressed really organically. The whole book was just real and beautiful and even though I know absolutely nothing about dog sled racing I feel like I lived it right along with them.

And having read the teaser for A Fairbanks Affair I can't wait to get my hands on it.

5 More Than Meets the Eye Stars
* * * * * Spoiler Free
I think Katy Regnery has a very special way of spotlighting those who have been part of the Armed Services. She takes these people and allows us to truly see them...more than just the uniform, the dedication, and the result and impact of the time given in the service for our country. When Ms. Regnery has a character who served, it is never used as a shortcut.

All I had before I started this book was the intriguing blurb:

A headstrong retired U.S. Marine needing a woman who could follow directions, do as he instructed and partner him on Alaska Qimmiq 200 sled race. His only reason for placing the ad was due to the change in the rules insisting there had to be a female partner, the only way to enter.

We were also told the woman who responds is a future veterinarian and her focus is on the care of sled dogs and the way they work with their mushers.

Sounds good and since I use to have Siberian Huskies for years...a perfect read for me.

Well, let me tell you, this book was so much more...it was so special, it hit my heart.

We are first given insight into the mind of a serviceman, Cody Garrison,
who made a specific decision to isolate himself and devote his time to reach the ultimate goal of running in the Iditarod. His love and care for his dogs were illustrated and a man who that type of passion for his dogs, has hidden an equal ability to have that same passion for the right woman.

Montana-born veterinary student, Juliet Sanderson, is a woman who is driven to publish her research regarding the dynamic of musher and sled dogs. She has hit a hiccup with the original subject and now she needs to find another one. Falling into her hands, literally, is Cody's ad for a partner listed in the Odds-Are-Good Alaskan magazine specializing on men looking for women from the lower 48.

What happens between these two is close to a Magnitude 8 Earthquake on the Richter Scale. Neither of them saw anything like that coming and when it finally hit, WOW WEEEEEEEE

There is so much in this story, the honest look at what life can feel like after service leaves you permanently disabled, how it will impact everything...from how you see yourself to how you think others will perceive you. This introspection was so real and touching.

Both of these characters will capture your heart. You will be amazed at their ability to work with these incredible dogs and each and every creature will make you fall in love with them.

Treat yourself to an adventure...experience the cold, experience the challenges and then experience a love that will take your breath away.

Be still my heart ❤️. This is definitely my favorite, so far, in the series. Our little Nome-o... he just made my heart melt every time.

It’s so easy to melt for the sexy guy with all the muscles the eyes can see. All the swagger one could hope for. And the suave confidence one would expect. That wasn’t Cody. All for that reason alone, he is more memorable and more favorited to me. Cody had a lonely life-even before his military service, so living a secluded life in Nome was easy for him. He’s broken on a level very few see or understand. But when Juliet answers his ad to help him fulfill a dream of entering the sled dog races, she opened up his world SO much. She showed him hope. And hope was something he never allowed himself to feel. Her sweetness and acceptance made it easy for him to accept that his solitary life may not be his destiny after all.

Cody and Juliet’s story was so sweet. Their love was one that snuck up on them and was as pure as the Alaskan snow. My heart...feels so much joy from that happy ending I just experienced.

Katy Regnery outdid herself with this story. I’m sitting here in awww of the feelings I’m still left feeling after that wonderful story.

The first one in this series was OK, so I thought I'd try the next. But I'm at 44% and have lost interest. Too much info about sled dogs, and the romance isn't gripping me. I really love some of this author's books, but this one is just 'meh'.

The "Odds-Are-Good" that this series is quickly becoming one of my favorites!!

All of the books in the series are standalone. The thing they have in common is a tie in to a personal ad (or classified ad in the case of this book) from someone in Alaska. I think it's such a clever premise. The titles may be cute and fun, but don't be confused by that. The books, themselves, are beautifully written stories of how broken or hurting people find one another.

In Nome-o Seeks Juliet, Cody Garrison is a 34 year old military vet living in a rural area of Alaska with nineteen dogs, eighteen of which are being trained to use for sled racing. His ultimate dream is to race in the Iditarod. To do so, he has to qualify in an upcoming race which requires a co-ed team. This leads him to place the classified ad looking for 'a Juliet' to come to Alaska and race with him. He isn't looking for a life partner, just a racing partner - - and truly for one qualifying race only.

Meanwhile, in Minnesota, Juliet is a veterinary student from Montana who thinks this ad might be her saving grace. She was supposed to study and write her project paper on a local musher and his team but he became sick and that opportunity fell through. In addition, she's also nursing a bit of a broken heart from a relationship that wasn't what she thought. All of this leads her to respond to this ad. Soon after, a partnership between the two of them is formed.

Juliet and Cody both have short-term goals in mind when she lands at the Alaska airport. Neither of them forsee the way their lives will connect and come to depend on one another in the short time she spends in Alaska.

I absolutely loved their relationship. Cody was a definite alpha but not in the way we typically think of them. He was the alpha of his "pack." He was an alpha when it came to Juliet and his feelings for her and his need to protect her. However, it took a while for us to see the alpha side of him because he was injured as a Marine and he has some exterior differences that he is very self conscious of. He initially isn't sure how Juliet will respond when she meets him. He anticipates everything will be negative because that is what he's experienced thus far in his life. Fortunately, Juliet is a breath of fresh air because she loves with her whole heart and isn't influenced by the exterior things. Initially, when they meet, she is saddened for him by what he's been through but she's not put off by it. Eventually, she finds she cares for him and when she does it's because of who he is. She loves the way he cares for his dogs and the person he is within. Of course, let's not forget, he's still a good looking man too, that never hurts. As their love grows, you see each of them blossom as individuals as well. They were truly stronger together than apart.

Ultimately, this story shows us how people can set out with very specific goals and learn that life and fate can definitely wreak havoc on those. Sometimes you have to learn to adapt and adjust. If you can succeed at it, sometimes you'll be blessed beyond words.

Sidenote: I absolutely LOVED the second epilogue!!!

Nome-O Seeks Juliet by Katy Regnery
“a sweet romance, 5 stars”

I loved Nome-O Seeks Juliet. It’s about a life style I honestly don’t think I have ever read about. You could tell that Regnery did her research in the topics of dog sledding and the lifestyle. Which to me is amazing. If you read Nome-O Seeks Juliet I think you’ll enjoy it. Or at least I hope so.
Cody needs a partner of the female variety to compete in the next dog sled race with him. He asked everyone he could think of only to come up short. When he put in an ad in a newspaper, he didn’t know what to expect. When he meets Juliet, he wants to give her a reason to stay, to compete. He doesn’t want his disabilities to push her away. When Juliet makes him start to feel things, he’s long given up on he doesn’t know what to do. Her time in Nome has an end date…or does it?
Juliet is in her final year of vet school and wants to write a paper on sled dogs/mushing. She thought she would shadow a musher and his team but her plans fell through. When her friend shows her an ad in a newspaper, she reluctantly goes for it. What she didn’t expect was Cody. He reminds her of Brad Pitt, but just a little broken from his time in the military. Will she be able to prove to him that she she’s him for who he is and not his disability? Only one way to find out.

Cody Garrison needs a female partner for the last race to qualify for the Iditarod. He doesn’t need to place, just finish, but race rules say the 2-person teams must be co-ed. He waited too long to partner with any of the local mushers, and they’ve paired up with more experienced mushers anyway. His last resort is a classified ad in the hopes of finding someone he can train.

Juliet Sanderson needs a subject for her study on the connection between sled dogs and their musher. As a veterinary student in her final year of school, she has only a short time to find a replacement before she loses her fellowship. The classified ad her best friend finds seems like the perfect fit, but she isn’t sure he will want to be studied if he is really looking for a race partner.

A last ditch effort for both of them turns out to be exactly what they didn’t know they were looking for.

This turned out to be more than I expected. Stemming from a classified ad, I was sort of expecting light and frivolous. But Cody has a lot going on that makes him a more dynamic character than just a dog sled racer. He keeps to himself, and chose Nome, Alaska partly for the fact that it is a small town that he could hide in. but has such a backstory that his reasoning for being nervous about Juliet’s arrival is so understandable. He is awkward and a little brash when she first arrives, which makes first impressions negative. He lacks confidence when it comes to his physical impairment, which causes even more tension between them when Juliet finds his secret.

Juliet was an equally interesting character. To be honest, I wasn’t sure I was going to like her in the beginning. She seemed like a rather naive college student getting mixed up with a professor, but I grew to love her dedication to the animals, her sensitive nature, and her willingness to do what needed to be done.

The major reason this wasn’t a full 5 star read for me was the speed at which they solve all their problems at the end. It felt a little rushed, especially with a few of the more emotional moments that happen towards the end. But I also loved those epilogues. The final one, in the form of a newspaper article, described everything I could have hoped for this pair.

This was one of those books that caught me by surprise. I read it in nearly one (longer) sitting because once I was pulled into it, I didn’t want to put it down. Juliet and Cody had me rooting for them as they raced, and cheering as they worked through geography, careers, and differing ideas of what the future looked like. Though there are only 2 standalones so far in this series, this is by far my favorite of the two and will be hard to outdo, but I can’t wait to see who else will be impacted by an ad in the Odds-Are-Good personal (or classified!) sections.

This book was more than I was expecting. It is a stand-alone story even though it is part of the Odds are Good series. It takes place in Alaska and centers around dog sledding which is something I have not read about before. It is obvious that the author researched this book well, and the whole experience just comes alive on the pages.

But the stand out in this book is the hero, Cody Garrison. He is retired from the military and lives an isolated existence in Nome, Alaska with his dogs. He has challenges that he fights daily to overcome, but he still has insecurities and has self-worth issues. He places an ad in the magazine since he needs a female partner to qualify for a race with him.

Juliet Sanderson is a veterinarian student and needs a new subject for her grant study. Answering the ad seems like her only choice on a short timeline and getting away from Montana is just what she needs. She is smart, sassy, strong, and determined. She needs Cody and this experience for her project, but finds she loves being there for the dogs, the adventure, and Cody himself.

They got off to an awkward start and never expected to be attracted to each other, have crazy chemistry, or catch feelings. Her acceptance of Cody gives him much needed hope. The way he treats her makes her believe that there really are good men out there. Soon things are heating up, but now their original short term arrangement is getting more complicated.

How do you find a way to be together when your future plans take you in completely different directions? That whole saying about "'Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all" is seeming like a crock in reality.

My heart broke for them as they found who they wanted to be with, but struggled to figure out how to make it work. I totally fell for Cody. He was self-conscious and had so many challenges and responsibilities. He was a bit uncomfortable at first, but had such a big, loving heart and just wanted to find someone to share it with...even though he was afraid to hope that would be possible. But he was also resilient, adaptable, and cared enough to be self-sacrificing. And Juliet was brave and not afraid to stand up for herself when needed. The side characters, even the dogs helped make this story feel real.

The scenery and experience make it a unique, tension-filled adventure, but the beautiful love story is the heart of it. It's emotional, intense, steamy, sweet, and swoony. I loved getting both of their points of view. I felt every bit of loneliness, despair, hope, joy, wonder, and excitement. It is about acceptance, priorities, taking risks, and trying to find a way to sustain love in an impossible situation.

Wow! Nome-O Seeks Juliet! Just wow! As I always anticipate, Katy Regnery has delivered a powerful story. I’ve really missed her story telling and now with this unforgettable addition to her new series, Odds Are Good, Ms. Regnery has made me feel as though I’m finally home after a long absence.

I quickly fell in love with Cody and Juliet as their beautiful and meant to be joining of souls unfolded in the pages before me. Ms. Regnery has an innate gift of creating memorable characters and penning such amazing stories that leave me feeling the moments of heartbreak and undying love as though I am living in the pages myself. Nome-O Seeks Juliet is pure magic - filled with love and romance and is replete with hot and steamy moments as well that will definitely make your heart race. Though I’ve given Nome-O Seeks Juliet 5 stars, I really need the option to give it 10 stars which is the rating it deserves.

Nome-o Seeks Juliet

I'm riding an emotional roller coaster right now. No one writes this type of book like Katy Regnery. Not sure if it's the fact that Cody was retired military or what, but I fell in love with him and Juliet both, immediately. If you haven't read it yet, you definitely don't want to miss it!

I love this series. The stories are standalone connected by a magazine called Odds Are Good with classifieds and singles ads.

Cody, a veteran living a very solitary life in Nome, Alaska, placed an ad looking for a partner for a coed dog sled race. “NOME-O SEEKS JULIET” and Juliet replies.

“This is crazy,” I tell her. She wipes away her tears, nodding at me with a blossoming smile. “Yes. It’s crazy. Be crazy with me.”

I loved everything about this book. The sexy, sweet romance, the main characters and the stories of their past, the cute ad that brought them together, and the awesome dogs! But I was completely taken by surprise by my emotional reactions to the story. One minute I’m swooning over sweet romance and the next I’m over here bawling on my book!

“One minute I was whole, the next…I wasn’t. The me I knew was…gone.”
“Not gone,” I whisper. “Just…broken.”

Nome-O Seeks Juliet checked all the boxes for me. It gave me ‘all the feels’ and left me with a bit of a book hangover but a big smile on my face.

So many feels for Nome-o Seeks Juliet by Katy Regnery.

The storyline is beautifully written, emotional, well paced and entertaining from start to end.
Cody and Juliet are wonderful characters that brought out all the feels watching their relationship unfold.
I loved their tenderness, their honesty and the way they loved each other.

4.5 Northern Lights!

I am really liking this new series by this author. All the books are set in Alaska and are connected only because of the Odds Are Good Magazine tie in. This one was really touching. A Vet and a Veterinarian-- perfect combo, right??

So much goodness in here about what makes us whole. Our life journey may not always go the way we want but if we just agree to live our best life, we can find happiness. A bit of a slow burn in this one. But great friendship to begin with usually leads to better romance. Cody and Juliet have some common ground to begin with and everything just blossoms from there.

Loved the setting, the dogs, the other humans. Mostly I enjoyed watching Juliet break down the thick walls that Cody had put up around himself. I would love to catch up with them at some point. Perfect epilogue!

Kate Regnery’s Odds-Are-Good series is just getting better with each new couple we meet. A wounded warrior and a compassionate heroine with an old soul completely stole my heart here–as did the nineteen (!!) gorgeous dogs their adventure centered around.

There was so much to love about Nome-o Seeks Juliet. And it actually surprised me with the emotional depth, making this less of a romantic comedy and more of a straight up contemporary romance. Kate Regnery still added touches of humor of course, but I really have to say that the way she was able to draw me into a scene, particularly any with our hero Cody, a disabled Marine–wow. My heart went out to him immediately and he knocked me off my feet with how genuine he was. Read More

This story was so sweet! And so unique! I loved the setting in Alaska, but moreso, the ins and outs of dog-sled racing. Cody was such a sweet, sweet man. I loved that he didn't let his disability stop him from doing anything (like mushing!) yet he was so vulnerable and insecure about it at the same time. Juliet hits him like a ton of bricks, and the evolution of their friendship to romance was perfect.

I did feel that the end was a bit rushed. I got what I wanted from the newspaper epilogue, but I wanted to SEE that adjustment in their relationship once he decides that Juliet is his dream, not running the Iditarod immediately.

Overall, Nome-O Seeks Juliet is a delight and an enjoyable story to get lost in! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Wow! This one blew me away. Didn't expect emotional punch that came with the romance. This is the 2nd book of this Alaska based series, both of which deal with couples facing location distances. But the author really hit her groove here and turned it up a great big notch. Heartfelt, warm and emotional. This book had me staying up all night to finish. And no worries, there's a very satisfying HEA.

But the author really turns it up a great big notch with this story. It's both heart grabbing and emotional. Stayed up all night to finish. And my sleepless night was worth it, there's the best HEA.

Another sad love song turns into an unforgettable romance. Regnery has done it again. Nome-o Seeks Juliet is a diamond in the rough, waiting to be explored. Cody and Juliet are as different individually as they are perfect for each other. He's faced down dangerous situations, heartbreaking losses and personal tragedies. She's looking to have an adventure. Adventure comes with some cuddleworthy heartbreakers, terrifying truths and a surprising turn of events that will inspire the risk taker in your soul. Take a chance on this thrill of the heart. You won't be disappointed.

What a amazing beautiful story! My heart is exploding. Cody is looking for a female for sled dog race partner and Juliet decides she needs to get away so hopefully is excepted. The chemistry is off the charts and made me swoon many times. I love Cody’s strength and how when he loves he just gives you his all no matter what. Juliet is a feisty strong girl and very determined and she was the perfect heroine in this story. Amazing romance that speaks to your soul! 5/5 stars

Sometimes you just need a good Alaska read. Nome-o Seeks Juliet is one of them. I took great joy in reading this book. It was a good mixture of heavy and light. The hero stole my heart. I can’t wait for the next book in the Odds Are Good series.
