“I OWN YOU NOW” She made a big mistake. You don’t blackmail a Tacone. Coming to me with a threat? Unacceptable. If she needs money, she’ll have to ask nicely. But once I give it to her, we both know what it means: She belongs to me. I do my best to hold back. Give her respect. Trouble is, I can’t keep my hands off her.
And now that she’s under my thumb, I don’t plan to let her go…

This one is about Gio Tacone and Marissa Milano. Gio was shot at her family’s cafe, and Marissa was there when it happened. Marissa has been terrified of the Tacone family since that day, and Gio has been having nightmares since surviving the near fatal bullet. When those dreams start including Marissa and her demise, he goes to see her. That’s when it all starts. That’s when the inevitability that is Gio & Marissa begins. After that it’s just the perfect quick mafia romance. Family gets in the way. Fear gets in the way. Just the general mafia stuff and things. So good.
I don’t care what happens next. I will never stop being obsessed with this series. It’s just quick and steamy mafia romance that absolutely hits the spot. A little violence. A dominant anti-hero. Some hot naughty bits. A quick story. There’s just nothing I can really complain about.
Dead Man's Hands was another delicious Renee Rose read I could not stop reading. it is a standalone in the Vegas Underground Mafia series and I could not help but become so engrossed in Gio and Marissa's love.
I loved this story!! OMG was it uber hot and sexy. Gio and his dirty talking alpha self was legit FIRE and I for one was here for it. I love how this story was both sexy and emotional. After a near-death experience in the last book, Gio Tacone realizes that there is more to life than just the Cosa Nostra and begins to infiltrate Marissa Milano's life. But when she makes a move to blackmail him, he turns the tables so fast and shows her what happens to people who try to cross him.
AHH! This story was sooo good! I loved the progression of Gio's character and how he was willing to change some facets of his life for Marissa. Overall, this was amazing. 4 stars! ~Ratula
This series is really exciting. To understand the lifestyle of an underworld person that too the one's who belong to the oldest mafia family.
This book is the story if Gio who survived in the last book which was the story of his elder brother Junior. This is more about realising the value of life when you have already had a little taste of death. Same is the case of Gio. As he has survived a brutal gunshot he now feels that he has been saved for a reason.
His life leads him to Marissa who has seen him taking the bullet and he somehow feels connected to her. Here's the starting point of their somewhat possessive and controversial love story as their families aren't too fond of each other.
The whole series have one base plotting of mafia world and the dangerous alpha males falling for good girls. But the author has a way to tell each one in a different sense.
I have been waiting for Gio Story for awhile!! And we finally get to his.
Recovering from being shot Gio has nightmares about that night he also has nightmares about Marissa being killed that night. He checks up on her there's a spark between the two and he wants her so its his suprise when Marissa calls him...
Oh honey Marissa does something kinda dumb she kinda tries to blackmail Gio and his family for more money for her little cousins surgery.. like Gio said she didn't need to do that he would have given her the money since they've know eachother (there families do) so she has to pay.. and not in sex nope in cooking 😂😂😂
Yes cooking he's trying to change and not be the bad guy so Marissa cooks for him the sexual tension + getting to know one another is high.. toss in a creepy boss and jerkish grandparents also some heartbreak... man my poor heart.
Pablo is up next!! Him and his little hacker oh this shall be good.. i believe this might be the last book in the series?
Low angst, No ow/om drama, no cheating, Drama, slight secondary chara, sexy times, no virgins no manwhore (they said he was but never saw it in any books)

When you come from a Mafia family even though the business has been closed down you can't get rid of how people see you. You're always going to be the bad guy.
Gio is the one who was shot last year at a little restaurant that the family used to do business in. He survived but for what reason? He is still having nightmares about it and sometimes he sees the young girl who's grandparents own the place getting shot even though it didn't happen. He's bored with life and has plenty of money but doesn't know how to go about living again.
Marissa was there when the attack went down and watched Gio get shot. She tried to warn them it was a set up. She is also having nightmares and remembers when Junior pointed the gun at her. She stays away from the mafia family until her little nice needs surgery and the insurance won't cover it. She goes to Gio but makes a big mistake. Now she is in debt to Gio and he's not interested in the money being paid back but instead he has the need to punish Marissa for what she tried to do.
Gio oh Gio how I love you... haha. Omg, I loved this story. We have seen Gio in a few of the other books and had some idea of who he is. But dang what a character he is. Gio is a complicated mafia man that deep down is soft and considerate. He just needed the right woman to have in his life to bring it out.
Marissa is that woman. She is a strong character that brings every emotion that Gio hides out. Marissa has taken care of everyone in her family to the point that she has no life and doesn't even take care of herself most times. When Gio tries to do just that, Marissa doesn't know how to let go and fights him at every chance- which brings out some fun back and forth. Gio and Marissa are a great couple, and this will be a book I reread multiple times.
Dead Man's Hand is a story that is sexy, intriguing, and at times funny. The perfect combination.
Another great addition to the series. Hot and sexy as ever, but a good story of finding the one and fighting for it! The Tacone brothers always have each other’s back!
Plot: In a previous book (Joker's Wild), Gio was shot in an ambush. He's physically healed but still suffers from nightmares, most of which involve Marissa, the cafe owner who was there when he was shot. He goes to see her, hoping to calm his psyche, but when she comes to him for a loan, he finds himself striking a bargain with her. Finding themselves suddenly spending a lot of time with each other, something more than business develops.
Commentary: I loved that Gio's dream was playing piano and that Marissa defended him against his family about that. I've noticed a running theme in this series about the guys not really wanting to be a part of the family business but feeling that they are obligated to stay. Gio feels that even more deeply after being hurt - nearly dying. Now he's trying to place himself in the world where he feels like he doesn't fit. His brother is divesting the less savory parts of the business, so he's even more at loose ends. Marissa seems significant to him, but when she asks for money, he's so disappointed, as though she were an angel fell to earth. That's part of his lost mooring; he can't imagine what it's like to be a normal person with money troubles trying to make it in the world. He has no purpose. Marissa was fine, but I particularly enjoyed Gio's journey for meaning.
Gio and Marissa are such a cute couple! Yes, I wrote "cute". I really enjoyed Gio's story and I can't wait to read the last book of the Vegas Underground series!
Dead Man’s Hand (Vegas Underground book 7) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Renee Rose, Burning Desire
After Giovanni Tacone was gunned down (Jokers Wild book 5) he’s not felt like the man he used to be. Somethings changed, he’s lost, everything he used to live for is numb, besides the nightmares that plague him nightly. They’re always the same, the cafe, the Russians, the shooting & her, Marissa Milano. Gio just can’t figure out why his dreams are always of her. Giving in and visiting the cafe, Marissa instantly sees the ghosts in his eyes, & when she admits to nightmares herself he instantly feels a connection with her, even if he doesn’t know why. When a desperate need for $30,000 see Marissa seek Gio out for a loan. She knows her attraction to Gio is going to make the payback hard, cooking for him once a week is the easy part, denying her feelings to the dominant but sweet & affectionate alpha is another.
I really liked I Gio’s internal struggle with the man he has become since the shooting and his ability to let Marissa see the insecurities he’s now experiencing, something he could never share with his brothers. Marissa’s vulnerability, both what she faced as her cafe was shot up and a gun pointed to her head, and as a child with her abandonment issues, yet she has fierceness to be independent and not give into Gio. I know we have to have a dark spot in romance before the HEA, but this book got me right in the heart, and I have to admit I burst into tears when reading Marissa’s chapter after Gio felt forced to let her go.
This is my favourite Vegas Underground book of the series so far, and even though I only read the ARC today, I want to read it again. Can’t wait for Paolo’s story.

Dead Man’s Hand is the seventh book in the Vegas Underground Mafia Romance series, and while it can definitely be read as a stand alone, I think it’s richer knowing what happened previously. Geo has been having nightmares ever since he’s been shot, but not about something happening to him, but to Marissa. As he spends more time with her, was he given a second chance at life to be with her, or will he be destined to be a dead man walking?
Oh my, I really enjoyed this addition to the series, loved getting Gio’s romance, and was completely captivated by the inner turmoil of both Gio and Marissa. Gio wants so hard to be a good man, especially for Marissa, but he keeps getting burned for his family’s name. I loved that even when he was dominant and frustrated, he was still extremely caring and loving. Marissa drove me crazy at times, but she had a good reason to be hot and cold. She wanted so badly to listen to her heart, but her mind kept playing tricks on her, based on her past and her family’s history with the Tacones. I loved their scenes together, the way they healed and learned together, and the passion that they shared. I loved how quickly they wanted to fall in love! While this wasn’t my favorite book in the series, I still absolutely loved Gio and Marissa and thought this was a great addition to the series!
One of, if not my favorite of this series. There is just something about the brothers in this series that has me enamoured. They all have their demons or baggage being a part of this nefarious family. However, I think Gio struggles with it the most which is why I felt an infinity with him. It is also why I think that I related to Marissa as well. These two were both struggling with being a part of the shooting that almost took Gio's life.
I enjoyed how the author incorporated an almost Fate like intervention into the reasons behind why they were connected via their dreams/nightmares. Was it a premonition of things to come? was it a reminder of what they had been through? or was it perhaps a message that they were, in fact, lucky because they were destined for greatness? The story will answer that but for me, I definitely saw it as a second chance to win at love. There was definitely something to these two. They both knew what it was like to be forced into a lifestyle out of duty and loyalty rather than having the chance to follow their dreams. Together though, these two realized that they could do both. Gio with his piano and Marissa with her love of cooking.
There was an additional depth to this story that sometimes in other books by this author that are missing or forced. That was not the case here. Even though this relationship happens fast, the connection never feels rushed or forced. if ever there was a true love it was with these two. I have loved all the stories in this series, some more than others, but I am looking forward to the next story.
Excellent story ! Gio is healed from his gun shot wound, but has nightmares and lots of time to think about things. Marissa is working two jobs one she loves at the restaurant and the other is keeping her grandparents cafe running, she also has nightmare about the night Gio was shot. Marissa looks up and who's in her cafe watching her it's Gio of course. This is a thinking story both characters are at a crisis point in their lives and while they seem to be coming together Marissa is fighting prejudice she grown up hearing about the Tacones her whole life. Gio is patient and respectful to a point but wants Marissa and the happiness that only she can give him. It's great to be back with the family again and see how each in their own way really love each other. These two really go through lots to be together, and when they do get together it's super sizzling hot times. Their chemistry is off the charts. It ends marvelously with everything settled and put back into place. However it seems we've got one more brother left and if the phone call to Palolo from Stefano is any indication someone's hands are going to be full. So excited.
Another fantastic read in the Vegas Underground Series! If you like alpha heroes Renee Rose is the one to deliver them every time! A hot read with Gio and Marissa’s story that will keep you gripped from the outset to the very last word. A beautifully written storyline around a second chance at life! A book I can only but highly recommend as it shows with the very much deserved 5 stars ⭐️ given. Can Gio face his dark demons and nightmares? Can Marissa, who saw too much, face her dark nightmares too? Will Marissa pluck up the courage to sell herself to Gio as sacrifice for her 8 year old cousin Mia? Is Gio what Marissa really wants after all he is a mobster and a killer! All Gio sees is hope for a future at last but can he hold on to it? He is dark and possessive and Marissa could be his light to his future happiness! But will she let her guard down and let Gio in? Everybody deserves true love or will it be her downfall? Can she make the right choices for her family sacrifices she makes every day? I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving a free copy
This story, for me, had all the feels. I wanted Gio's story so bad and was thrilled when I found out he was getting it. The emotions ran high as Marissa would submit to him but still didn't want her family to know where she got the money to pay for a surgery a family member needed. And even though Gio didn't seem interested in "getting involved" in a relationship, he sure came to want her with him all the time. LOL They both fought their attraction for each other and that made it so much sweeter. I laughed, I cried, I got a little ticked off at both of them and wanted to smack them but Ms. Rose made it all come out wonderful and I was a happy camper! Out of all the stories in this series, I think this is my favorite one!!! You don't have to read the other books but just know that characters from previous stories come and go in this one so if you want to know about them, read them first. Loved this one and it's one I will read over and over again!
Im going through the whole series again and I actually never made it to this one, but I’m glad I did now! I listened to the audio and the narrator did an awesome job. Gio is such a sweetheart (behind his tough guy, alpha male act of course ;-) ). He feels a connection to Marissa after having been shot in her cafe. He sees her every night in his nightmares and becomes protective of her. He can’t keep away! Marissa feels very attracted to him, but tries to stay away because she knows he is a dangerous guy and part of the mafia. The chemistry between these two is scorching! Could’ve done with a tad bit more action or suspense, but it was a great story nevertheless. The steam had me fanning myself! Great addition to the series and I’m off to read the last book! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is a fantastic story. I couldn't put it down. I love reading anything by this author. I loved the interactions between Marissa and Gio.
Marissa was there on the day that Gio was shot. Months later, he finds his way back to the restaurant. He realizes that there is something more to Marissa that he would like to explore. Marissa needs to find some money in order for her cousin to get a surgery. She goes to Gio to borrow money. Gio gives it to her but the payment plan is different. She needs to use her culinary skills to feed him. Over time, they grow closer. When something happens to Marissa, will Gio be able to protect her?

My favorite series by this author! The Tacones are the mafia bad boys that you just love to death - hopefully not your own. This book is by far the most romantic and emotion driven, and I was seduced by the author’s words to the point where I couldn’t put the book down once I started. This was one of those stories where you felt as a reader that your continued immersion was necessary for the characters to reach their happy ending. Cant wait till the cards are dealt again, and another one of the larger than life characters finds their match.
This series just gets better and better. This time it’s Gio’s story, he turns up at Marissa’s restaurant (she’s been in other books) and surprises her as he’s still alive! There’s a tremendous amount of action in this book, absolutely riveting from start to finish, the characters just came alive right from the beginning. Fabulous book. Loved it.

OMG! I absolutely loved this story! This series of books about the Tacone family has made me look forward to each and every single one! The action, the push and pull between these characters and the steam is hotter than ever! Renee Rose has a great hit on her hands! This has so many of the feels that make for a great story! And HEA is always worth reading!! I’d give it 10 stars if I could!

I've loved all the brothers in this series, but Gio is one we don't really get to know about until now. We met him properly in Junior and Desiree's book, but it's been really nice to read his character development and learn about the man beneath the suit. He's paired with Marissa, who I really like as a female lead. Just because it's fiction, doesn't mean the characters aren't life-like.
This is Gio and Marissa story. Gio is trying to figure out what his purpose in life is after his near death experience. Marissa wants to help her cousin. Their love match is not an easy one but sparks fly when they are together. An enjoyable read.
It's Gio's turn and he falls for the cafe owner's grand daughter, Marissa. She makes him an offer he doesn't want to refuse. Along the way they fall in love but grand dad ain't happy at all. Loved how she helped him achieve his dream, and the brothers supported it.
Wow this one was amazing. I love a good Mafia Romance and this one definitely checks all the boxes for me. I loved the storyline and it was well written and enjoyable. Can't wait for more!
I really like Renee's Vegas Underground series. It's HOT and entertaining. Well written with a great plot. You get to catch up on past characters and Marissa and Gio are super cute. I wish Marissa hadn't been so reluctant for so long but honestly I really liked this addition to the series.
>Romance oscuro y erótico. >Mafia. >Age gap.
The secret to life I am so in love with the Tacones! Really! What’s not to love? Each one is a gorgeous alpha male, possessive of his woman, who is hiding this soft center, especially from themselves. Gio has to be one of my favorites though. The author gave him a second chance at life and eventually he finds someone worth living for. Like any great love story, they have their ups and downs, especially when family gets in the way, but the author is blessed with this ability to turn even the direst situations around and create HEAs that make you swoon. I can still see the emotional story playing out in my head, good thing too as I’m already anxiously waiting to see what happens with Paolo and his little hacker.
When Marissa Milano makes a big mistake that could end her life, Gio Tacone comes riding in like dark knight saving her… from herself. Full disclosure, I read this book as a standalone and can be read by itself. I picked up this book because I like Ms. Rose's books. They are dark and smexy.
