“Tell me someone hasn’t sprayed his dick sauce all over your fleshy red beef curtains!” Words I never want to read again. Being completely honest I would’ve preferred this series as a standalone. I enjoyed it but it felt a bit like a rehash of the first. Instead of illusion animals there is real animals. Still a cockblocker but someone else.
The drama between Bloss and her husbands doesn’t hold the same interest since they’re now all on the same page and in honeymoon phase. So yeah plenty of sex but I did like the variety and it was a mix of hot, weird and funny.
The first plot twist is at 8% and then several more following. There is build up and a lot of mystery as to where everyone stands but that’s expected of kingdoms. I did like Blue so looking forward to seeing where that goes. I liked clingy Quinn. I enjoyed it but not as much as the first. Ends on a cliff-hanger which made me both just shake my head and want to jump into the next one.
Ahhhh My heart was carved out of my body !! 😩😩❤️❤️ Spoilers below if you haven't read book 1!
MidKnight was an amazing sequel to Knightfall! It starts right off where the first book ended, with Avia been taken captive by the dragon. Bloss and her knights now must dive deep into the realm of politics to uncover the dark secrets behind Avia's capture. It is not often that I find a hot fantasy romance story that also has an amazing worldbuilding and well developed plot. This series has the perfect combination of amazing cast of characters and a storyline full of plot-twists that kept me intrigued the entire time!
One of my favorite things about MidKnight was the sudden appearance of mysteriously enchanted animals that follow Bloss wherever she goes. As we slowly discover the secrets behind these animals and why they have been spelled, we also come to uncover the truths behind a surging rebellion, the late Queens ultimate secret and who Bloss's true allies are. This sequel added so many new layers to the story with political intrigue that it reminded me of Game of Thrones (one of my favorite shows of all time!).
The dynamics between Bloss and her knights only blossoms in this book even more! Each of them capture my heart in their own unique way (although Quinn is my ultimate favorite so thank you Ann for that naked forest scene). I always felt something for Blue, and loved his companionship with Bloss, therefore I am excited to see the addition of the 5th knight into the group!
I was NOT PREPARED for that plot twist in the end. My heart was CARVED OUT of my body and I was paralyzed for some full minutes. AHHHH!
Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy for review!
It's crazy how much happens and doesn't happen in this book. Nothing on the sister front but damn if things in the kingdom and the heroines relationship were not all thrown for a whirlwind. Then her men The heroine has really come a long way and I really do love her. This trilogy has me hooked and I really hope the heroine takes her role more seriously and gets mean and does not insist on giving up the throne. When in politics even your closet allies can become enemies at the drop of a hat and I hated that the heroine learned this in such a way. But at the same time her cruel mother actually did her more favors than we knew and her strict studious upbringing (I think) really proves she's not only right for the job but the only one who can take such a burden. I'm so glad we know more about her history and her men do as well. While they seemed to fit in their relationship a lot more now I still feel there this slow process of them all getting to know one another again and it's the best thing for them all. That cliffhanger ending was a doozy and I immediately dived into the next book before even writing this review. Her men and their powers are what brought them all together. With their very existences being threatened I could not believe the position they were all put in and while I can't wait to see how the sister story line is resolved, I'm more concerned with how the men and heroine will deal with this new roadblock in their lives. Such a great series. Glad to see this trilogy ends and a new series for her sister will start in book 4.
I really enjoyed where Denton took the story in this book! I thought the twist was completely unexpected and shocking, which is always fun. I feel like I typically see twists coming, but I didn’t see this one. Yay!
That cliffhanger is ROUGH though so I’m really glad I was able to jump straight into book 3. Be warned that you’ll want to do the same, but thankfully all the books are out!
Thanks to the author for gifting me a copy. All thoughts are my own.
It’s safe to say that I’m now obsessed with the Tangled Crowns series. Knightfall was my first experience with reverse harem, and I could hardly put it down. MIDKNIGHT was no different. The action, intrigues and romance that I appreciated in the first installment were just as engaging in this one. I adore Bloss and her knights. Their banter was just as fun and sexy to read, even if the pining and anticipation of the first book is now replaced with the honeymoon bliss. Except for one knight whose name shall remain secret for the sake of staying spoiler-free, for whom I was pining very much indeed! Connor was the only one of Bloss’s knights that I still had some reserves about, but I love how that changed now that we got to spend more time with him, and that the anger and resentment is gone from their relationship. Seriously, I love all of these men. I can’t even choose a favorite anymore!
This second installment in the series is filled with even more court intrigue and plot twists than its predecessor, and it spares no punches when it comes to playing with the heartstrings. There were many funny and sexy moments, but brace yourselves for tears as well because Ann Denton was ruthless in this one! I loved the new entries to the story. Donaloo reminded me of a whacky version of Merlin in The Sword in the Stone, and I was giggling every time he was on the page. My favorite, however, was Blue. One of my favorite plot twists of the book revolves around his character, and believe me when I say I am dying to start the next book ASAP to see more of him!
Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy. All opinions are my own.
I enjoyed the first one, even though it took me a little to get into. The second book sucked me in immediately. It was everything I could Asfoor in a reverse harem. I got action, suspense, humor, and spice.
Bloss Is reeling from the kidnapping of her sister. She wants nothing else but to go after her, but as a queen she has to play her hand smartly. But being queen is no easy task. Bloss has to entertain nobles and Royals who have no hearts of their own. So many impossible situation come up and she hast to deal with everything. So many secrets began to unravel about her mother and finding those out could be the key to everything.
My boys in this novel are everything. I will go to war for Declan in a heartbeat. I love that man so much. And surprisingly, even though I know virtually nothing about him, I adore blue. I think he’s going to be such a great member to her husband group.
This book does end on a cliff hanger, (after putting you through emotional damage!!!) so you are going to want to binge book 3. At least I do!
First off, you have to read Knitfall in order to understand this book. I didnt known what to expect when i started this series as i hadn't read anything from Ann Denton. I quickly fell in love with the characters and the story. I was looking so forward to this second book and i was not disappointed. This serious got even better this time around and i can't wait to read the 3rd one whem it comes out.
Pages: 418 My rating: 3 Read other books by this author in the future: maybe
I really liked the first book of the Tangled Crowns series. But this one was difficult. It had the same humour like the first one. I still like the MC’s. But the first half bored me a lot and I was honestly thinking of not finishing this book. But then the story plot got faster and more things happened so I read it until the end. So the second half entertained me. I am not sure if I will read the next book in this series, because I can’t stand the thought that I might be bored again by a story that started out great. I wished Ann Denton would have written this one as a standalone.
This book had me. From the moment I picked it up, I was lured back into the world of Bloss and her husbands. My first experience with reverse harem is this series and I am glad to say I have been enjoying the journey.
Once again, we see banter, sexiness, and loads of action. this book is a "one more chapter" type. I just have to say I love the banter in this series, this is one of my favorite aspects in books. Bloss takes us on another journey, this time to defend her blood. I love it when we get family secrets and twists. Ann Denton is definitely not scared to keep us on our toes! Ahhh, the plot twist had me for sure. I would love to learn more about Donaloo and the origins of his family! These cliffhangers are going to take me out.
The author gives us all these emotions in this book. The pace was spectacular and we see another side of Bloss we havent seen before. Her character development and the relationship with her husbands are so well written. I am a sucker for character development! And I am here for it.
So excited to read book 3, huge thanks to the author for sending this book my way!
This series is so incredibly well done. The world building is excellent, the characters are realistic and believable, and the humor is laugh out loud worthy. The action in this book really ups the conflict, making everything more intense. I can’t wait to read what happens next.
It's been a while since I read the first book in this series. I think it was last summer. I remember reading it outside in my parents' garden. I also remember that I enjoyed it, that it was a fast and easy read and that I wanted more. A few weeks ago I got myself the paperbacks of this entire series and yesterday I all of sudden was in the mood to get started. And much faster than I expected I finished the book already. It's saying something.
Firstly, Denton has an amazing writing style. Her books are easy to read and I love the lay-out with the white line between all paragraphs. I know it takes up space, but it's really calming for my eyes. And, it makes books that look intimidating feel way shorter. Secondly, Denton knows how to pace her stories and how to keep the reader's attention. The book never gets boring, there are no dull moments and it also didn't feel like a middle book, even though it was.
The latter is mostly because Denton is still building up. Quite often all the building up is done in the first book and then authors have to write a second book to prepare for the third, but not too much is happening in that second book. Denton however only reveals what really is going on in the second book. In the first book we got to know the characters and the kingdom, and we got this amazing cliffhanger to keep us hooked. In this book we know what conflict our heroes are dealing with.
I also got the impression that Denton used this book to connect us a little more to the men in our Queen's life. In the first book they were names, and some superficial characteristics, in this book we learned more about their pasts, their lives without their Queen and their relationship with each other. It helped them to feel more like separate characters. Also our Queen was a little more fleshed out, mostly because she had to find her place in a new world.
I can't wait to read the last book in the trilogy and the spin-off series!
Typically cursing doesn’t phase me in the least, but the non-stop “sard” and “sh*+e” quickly grew tiresome in the first book and there wasn’t enough plot to make the 2nd or 3rd books worth the read. At best, it was déclassé. At worst, it was used to pad the word count. If one were to cut the constant swearing, the distractingly tangential sex scenes that dragged the plot to a complete halt, and cleaned up the grammar, there might have been a good story here.
Sadly, that was not the case.
I might have overlooked the significant flaws in the AU of I had stopped reading at book 1. The opposite of peace is not blood, it’s rage. The opposite of healing should have been blood/injury. And if half-djinn only have 3 wishes to grant for the entire duration of their lifetime, why are they immortal? Wouldn’t it make more sense if they had a lifespan that was accordant with their powers?
On a final note, the fictional names here were HILARIOUS. Bloss, which is a ridiculous name in and of itself, was also nicknamed Bloss Boss, Peace, Dove, and more. Bloss goes on to name a rabbit “Sh*+er”, a bluebird “Blue”, a bear “Fuzzy”, and a gargoyle “Pony”. One of the territories was called “Rasle”, which I assume is pronounced “Razzle”. Is the country “Cheryn” pronounced as “Sharon”?
I really enjoyed this. In the first book I was annoyed with both Bloss and the guys. The only thing that kept me reading was the political intrigue. This time I actually grew to like the guys a lot.
Still not totally sold on Bloss though. For someone who is supposed to be running a country she spends a huge amount of time whining. And when she's not whining she's having sex at the most inappropriate times. You mom just died. Your sister was kidnapped. And you're supposed to be eavesdropping on the nobles who might betray you, but you're having sex in the hallway instead? Get your priorities straight woman.
Once again, I loved all the political intrigue and the slow reveal of everything. The world building is top notch. There were some typos but nothing too distracting.
Basically, I liked everything about this (except Bloss) and I can't wait to read the next one.
The Tangled Crowns series has become one of my new favorite series. The second book in the series is just as good as the first, with wonderful levels of passion and court intrigue. Again, I had to force myself to put the book down and do other things. The characters and the story are that good.
Like in the first book, what I loved most was how we get to fall in love with each individual knight as well as loving them as a unit. I ship Bloss with all of them and love their unique interactions with her, but I live for the moments where they're all together, bantering like a family. There's so much love (and steam) in this series. It's wonderful!
The ending was a rollercoaster kind of rush. In one hour of reading I managed to feel every major emotion on the spectrum. I just...please, read this series because I need to scream!
Thank you the author for gifting me a copy. Opinions are my own.
DNF this book is gross.. I enjoyed the first book well enough so I was gonna truck through and give this whole series a shot. I gave this book a chance, got about 60% through. Oh my god does this book drag on but really nothing happens. Not to mention random plot holes everywhere! I will give props to the author that there wayyy less uses of the word “sard” and instead they put in weird instances of Quinn cock blocking the main character with disgusting imagery.. that the author describes to you.. in detail. Honestly there is one part (the butcher part) that I literally was shocked. I can’t believe the author thought that was okay and not just straight up fucking disgusting? Pretty much turned my favorite character into my least favorite character. Don’t have the energy for a strong review cause boy did this book drain me. I did make visible a few highlights of the absolute absurdity in this book though, let that be warning enough to not read it.
WOAH WOAH WOAH!!! That ending actually killed me! I was crying on the train!!! What’s gonna happen next?!?!! Ughhhhhh i’m so frustrated 1. I’m mad that Bloss is so fricken useless? like, literally everyone else has a better power?! 2. Avia better flippin be good! i feel like she’s gonna end ho being way more powerful than Bloss and so i’m kinda mad. 3. Donnaloo is funny. i like him. 4. I was kinda just chugging along until that end-ish bit!!! that’s when alllllll the action happened! 5. I actually DIED when they did! 6. I LOVED their cute little moments together!! TBH, Quinn is my favvv (but i love the rest too!) ((Blue is up there too)) 7. I’m mad mad for them honestly! they’re gonna dieeeee what are they gonna dooooooo

I love Bloss and ALL of her Knights. I cannot wait for the next book . This book was full of magic, mayhem laughs and love. Being a Queen is so much harder then Bloss could have imagined. She has grown so much from book #1 she is learning that she cannot do everything on her own. She cannot run away, evem if she thinks it's to keep everyone safe and she thinks it's the only option. She is learning that SHE IS NOT ALONE. She has support and love from her knights and only TOGETHER can they do the impossible. MidKnight by Ann Denton has quickly become one of my favorite RH books. Thank you Ann, you are the best!
This is series is definitely getting more interesting as the mysteries unfold. Bloss and boys going through some dark twists and turns. All while bloss is trying to navigate her way through her new situation. The cliffhanger is shocking but expected but I can wait to see how it turns out in Knight’s End. *This book is different but good. Bloss and her men are complexed character but as story continues u grow to love them all. The story is confusing at times because there is a lot of background characters but it eventually becomes a little clear as u get to know bloss’s personality. I am looking forward to book two
This series has the fantasy element of Lera of Lunos with the humour of Trickery. Yet it has elements of both books it has its own spin. It is funny, exciting and steamy as hell.
Holy cow! What a wild read! This was an amazing book filled with a dragon, a bunny, a bear, a bird and of course the kickass queen and her knights. I can't get over the ending....I'm still reeling... Warning to all future readers it's so good because it's evil ( I bet Ann is just evil chuckling a out the ending). That cliffhanger is going to give me the worst book hangover until number 3. I don't want to say anything about the plot, the twist or even the characters as you just have to read it!
So I almost had a full panic attack at the end. It for real pulls on your emotions and I was a sobbing mess. But all good things come at a price.... And the ending confirms that. Things were kind of slow at first. Lots of secrets and conspiracies with no clear direction. Towards the end we get some answers and some clarity and things definitely pick up. The animals were interesting additions. I'm guessing the fight will continue and we will figure out more of what is going on...as well as deal with this whole new issue for the knights.
The plot in this series is pretty good. I just can't get over the "quirky" and cringey humor of most the characters, especially the FMC Bloss. Bloss is so immature and I get it she's "not like other queens", but it makes her personality so off-putting. So I won't be continuing the series.
Also am I the only one that felt very baited by this author? She hinted that two of the knights were intimate with each other when in reality they just used a disguise potion to turn one another into Bloss and have sex with "her". Kinda icky tbh.

Oh this book was good! The plot is unreal. When you think you totally have the plot down and then suddenly boom you have no idea what just happened and every though you had previously is rubbish in comparison. It’s a mind blowing book. The characters continue to give and you can’t help but love them. It’s funny, made me cry for a whole two chapters, and downright pure evil genius.
These books are so good. The relationship between the MC and her men is amazing. The author really sent time making sure that each guy was different and how they interacted with the MC was great. I wish there had been more information on the sister, but that's just my impatience Haha. Can't wait for the next book. The cliff hanger will have me dying to read the next book.
I don’t think I have any words to describe this book. I just finished reading and I’m still.. processing. I’m just. I just. Words. Need them. I just. Read it. Ann Denton has proved once more that she knows what she’s doing with her books and oh my god, this is one crazy roller coaster ride you NEED to take. This book had me from the very beginning and it’s just such a great continuation for the series. I just.. no words.
Whoa another brilliant book in this series that I enjoyed with our sassy Queen muddling through her new royal duties, 4 alpha males keeping her on her toes. a little flirting and generous adult themed relations and throwing in a few animal friends. But with the cliff hanger of what's more to come and what's happened to her knights I need tho know how this book ends, can't wait.
It's so much fun finding a new book series! I was getting worried that I was going through a dry spell trying to find a new story that would catch my eye when I stumbled upon this series, needless to say, I have been happily reading ever since. I encourage anybody that likes a little snark, off beat humor, some teasing heat and some action/adventure thrown in to check these books/author out!
