Alpha Sylvan Mir‘s efforts to achieve sovereignty for the Weres, Vampires, and other non-humans is made even more difficult when a neighboring wolf Were Pack petitions Sylvan for aid. Someone, or some thing, is raiding the territory of the Snowcrest wolf Weres along the Canadian border. While newly ascended Snowcrest Alpha Zora Constantine, along with Ash, the captain of her guard, awaits the decision of Sylvan's war council, inter-Pack tensions rise. Especially when Ash and Sylvan's centuri Jace develop an unexpected and unwanted primal attraction. Are the raids just an attempt to secure more territory by rogue Weres? Or is it all a ruse to bring Sylvan and her mate Drake out into the open where they are vulnerable to enemy attacks? When Sylvan and Drake's war party heads north to hunt the rogue raiders, Ash and Jace must decide between duty and the call of their deepest desires. A Midnight Hunters novella
3.5 Stars. I’m a big Radclyffe fan. I have read all her full length books and with me being a paranormal fan, I have always enjoyed this series. But after 4 years, I never expected to see another book from this series. It’s interesting but in the month of May, Bold Strokes Books released 3 series books that were a long time in coming. This book at 4 years, Godfrey’s book at 5 and Vali’s at 10 years. It was great coming back to all these older series but I do have to say I didn’t love this like I was hoping.
This is a novella but it is a good length so I didn’t feel that the story was rushed. There was a good mix of old favorite characters with some new ones. We even got a short visit with the vampires and a little time with my favorite character Torren who is Fae.
There was some good excitement towards the end and I was happy to see that Radclyffe left the door open for another novella or book. I’m too invested into this series to stop reading it now. However, my one complaint was that the sex scenes are not a favorite of mine. It didn’t bother me too much four years ago, but the werewolf sex just involves a lot of fluids that gets to me after a while.
I still enjoyed this, and I would not hesitate to read another in this series if Rad wrote it. I just didn’t love it like I remember loving the series 4 years ago.
Jace finds her mate., Ash captain of snowcrest pack. The couples- Drake and Sylvan Lana and Raine Jody and Becca Nikki and Sophie Gray and Tamara Misha and torren Michel and Katya Max and andrea Enemy- frencesca , Cecelia and some mage. Sylvan aids Zora regarding the raids on her pack.

I didn’t review all the books in this series, but want to use this last book (probably more coming..) for some sort off overall feeling I have about this series.
It’s fair to say I likes some books more than others in this series. However, progressing in the books I got the feeling there wasn’t put much effort and soul into the writing. It’s all pretty much the same m.o. as the book before. There’s really no emotional buildup in the books and the storyline is very thin. I would like to compare it to a soap opera from the ‘80’s/‘90’s. It curls your toes watching it (bad acting, bad storyline, unrealistic, and so on), but you still put on your tv for the next show because you want to know what happens next. That’s what happened to me in this series: buying the next book because I had to, reading it and feeling empty afterwords but still buying and starting the next one.. And that’s disappointing, because with Radclyffe’s skills I know she can do more than this.
That sad, I want to zoom in on the sex scenes in the books. There are many, but really it’s noting. The sex for me came across as sex with a very animalistic nature: always quick and rough. At first I thought that was okay, but after a while I became very bored because these kind off scenes were copy-pasted continues in the books.
The same copy-paste goes for the couplings in the books. Characters don’t want to, but nature makes them need to couple. There’s no build op, no romance, no getting to know each other. Just instant love. I think that can work in a book, but in this series it just didn’t do it for me.
I realise I’m not very positive in the text above. But I did enjoy on some level just like people enjoy watching soap operas. Although the storylines are thin, I did like reading because there was constantly happening so much and I got introduced to other species in fantasy fiction that I hadn’t encountered yet.
This is your series if you like it a little rough and animalistic and you like a shape shifters style soap opera. Overall the series was an okay read and I rate it with 3 stars maximum, because off the urge to keep reading the next one.
I was glad to hear that Radclyffe (who wrote under L L Raand) would be releasing another Midnight Hunters series. None of the books in the series are stand alone so it’s better to read them in order.
Based on the reviews I read, the series seemed in complete by the end of Shadow Hunt so I waited until Rogue Hunt was released and read them all at once and I’m glad I did because it was one continuous story. Therefore this review is for the whole series. Bare with me, it might be a wee bit long.
For starters this book did not complete the series and shorter than the others. It introduced another pack who seek help from the Timberwolf pack. As the story progresses we learn that Sylvan’s old enemies might be involved. I don’t think this is the end as many things were not answered, not to mention the not so subtle love interest for the Snow Crest Alpha.
Although I did enjoy reading about Jace and Ash, I was hoping for a story about a submissive wolf. Because throughout the whole series, not one submissive wolf was the main. They barely receive a mention in fact. I was rather annoyed by that.
Also does no one wear skirts or dresses? Perhaps I missed it under the mountain of jeans they seem to drown under. When not wearing BDUs that is.
I enjoyed book one enough for me to keep going. It was a good introduction to the world and the main characters. But I hated Nikki. She just got on my fucking nerves so much so I skimmed her parts. I wanted to slap her so many times. I don’t know if that was intentional or not but she was so damn possessive of Sylvan and righteous. I couldn’t stand her. This continued with book two and part of book three where she was hateful and willing to kill any wolf that was different. She reminded me of the xenophobs who want a wall around their borders and to leave the EU because of the immigrants. Argh. She only got better with her mating with Sophia. Poor Sophia.
Book 2 also saw a character improvement (in my opinion) of Becca. She was mildly annoying at first by the risks she was taking but her character was so well written that even when I was annoyed with the her and her choices, I understood why and could sympathize. Of course it helped that I could relate to her and her experience of living whilst female, black and queer and never quite fitting in because everyone seems to have an opinion of what and who you should be. I would also be interested in another book about her and Jody. Expand their story. Perhaps introduce the idea of children? I would love to see how that goes with a stubborn human for one parent and a vampire for another.
I really liked reading about Raina in book 4 and I hope Radclyffe expands her story. There’s a huge potential for an exciting book there. How does she unite the were cats? What are the challenges? What of her young? How does her relationship with Lara fair with the distance and her other obligations? I really, really want to know.
Book 5 is another fav. I enjoyed the introduction of fae and was very interested in reading about Torren and her unique powers. Again, I want to know more about her and Misha.
Book 6 was interesting for me because had you told me that Michel, vampire chancellor Francesca’s enforcer Michel, would become anything but ruthless and calculated I would tell you you’re having a laugh. But that is exactly what happened. Michel had gone and fallen in love. This was slowly introduced in previous books so it wasn’t sudden which made it great in my opinion. All that angst, confusion, uncertainty and care and tenderness from someone as cold as Michel made for a great read.
Overall, I really enjoyed the series. It’s not a five star because there are areas of improvement. As I mentioned earlier, all the stories about wolves seem to be about dominant wolves. What gives? There certainly could be more racial diversity with the characters. But it was good enough that I was hooked from the beginning and was frustrated when I had to stop and do everyday things like go to work, sleep etc. I will patiently, impatiently wait for the next installment.

Radclyffe is really just farting these books out in her sleep at this point. Also revisiting this series a couple years later has really highlighted how ridiculous the language is, I mean “sex sheen” really? Not to mention all the damn penis allusions, Radclyffe has always done this to some extent in her books, especially the early ones but she takes it to another level with this series. I feel slightly ridiculous saying this but she really goes out of her way to mimic heterosexual intercourse with the words and phrases she uses. I wish I got this from netgalley to review so I could leave a note to Radclyffe/publisher saying “just give your characters cocks already Radclyffe, there is a market for that.”
As always but way too short. I'll admit I absolutely love this series. It is full of action and adventure. But this one centered more on the wolves. Seems as if Sylvan and the Timberwolves still have fighting to do. The war isn't over.
It's great to see the young make an appearance. I can't wait for the next instalment. I would not advise you to read this as a stand-alone, but you could. Enjoy!
I love this paranormal series. It is definitely a must read. This is the 7th book in the series and I hight suggest readers start reading with book 1. Of course, you will need to forget about sleep because you will want to just keep reading until done.
Readers also know that Radclyffe writes these books under the pen name L. L. Raand. Radclyffe has written dozens of books under these two names and they are all excellent.
I love this authors work... she made me fall in love with the characters in each book of this series... I was hoping for more of them in the book not a new set of lovers...
Its been nearly three years since I read the last book Shadow Hunt. I really enjoyed that book and was looking forward to reading this one, but after the first few chapters I was having doubts, it was just dozens of pages of ‘lust’ with no story. It’s probably very unfair, but after half-a-dozens chapters I really couldn’t face anymore and had to give up.
3.5 star rating This was tamed when compared to all its predecessors...it just came out with less of everything; eroticism, action, thrill etc. In addition, it felt shorter. In all, entertaining just not eliciting the level of hotness the other 6 books demanded from me.
I have to say that I am a big fan of this and many other series of Radclyffe's books. However, this novella was a let down. Too long in coming, and too short to be well developed. I can sort of see that you don't have a complete series because there are more of the praeturns that haven't been written about, but this novella is almost like a tease for things to come.... and at 4 year spacings that will make me a non-starter for the next one.
➬➱➫➩➪【4 Stars】 This is the seventh book in the Midnight Hunters series. It was shorter than the other books in the series. I was less impressed with this book because of the length being shortened which meant the couple felt even more insta-lovey. I feel like it really was love at first sight. I do like the complexity introduced with another pack coming into the picture though.
As stated in my previous review: Radclyffe does not disappoint on the erotica tag at all. I was a bit concerned with the insta-love vibe, but it definitely coincides with the fact that the Weres are able to sense their true mate. I am such a sucker for books where there are possessive and jealous love interests. This hits that right on the dot.
TW: t’s not g!p necessarily… but please read other reviews for a more in depth explanation.
I reread this series every Halloween and cannot recommend it enough. H to the o to the t. ➢Happy reading!
“Rogue Hunt (Midnight Hunters #7)” shows us that waiting four years for a new book in a series can result in disappointment.
First, we lose the wonderful narrator Maxine Mitchell; I missed her.
Secondly, this book really doesn’t address the many plot devices left unresolved by book 6; it’s really a side story novella featuring Jace and Ash. We do also get reminded of other characters as they have sex, but overall this story doesn’t answer old questions and doesn’t advance the series. 3*
After a long hiatus, Raand issued a longish novella that continues the Midnight Hunters storyline. If you've read the series - you are going to pick this one up since Raand (Radclyffe) tends to stop her books with a lot of loose ends and the promise of "more to come" in the next book. If you haven't read the series this is not the one to start it with as it jumps right in with characters and references to events from the other books.
I'm a bit torn on this one - I liked the overarching plot of the series (I'm a sucker for paranormal and urban fantasy), but the individual books and characters annoy me to no end. I keep saying I'm not going to continue reading the series - but when a new book comes out, it somehow ends up in my hands. It's like virtual crack ... and I'm an addict.
There's lots of messy/squishy werewolves mating and it really just drags the story out - plot, dammit, I want plot! The whole dominance thing and the fact that I can not understand how they manage to get anything done when they seem to be walking, snarling, brooding, humping hormones irk me the most.
It was heartened that Raand introduces another group of Were's (note that the influx of new blood will likely lead to more pairings - and more books ) and hints at the larger conflicts to come. As well, Raand is finally introducing at least the idea of mages (they are one of the Praetern races but have been never really had any mention or involvement in all the plots, counter plots and conspiracies).
One thought comes to mind when I look back on this book; I wish it was longer. I knew it was going to be a foreshortened novelette, if you will, but it didn't change the bit of a let down I felt when it ended. The previous books being full length novels, I guess I was just spoiled. Unfortunately, the short length also made for a far less elaborate plot. All in all, it was an enjoyable read, and a welcome addition to the series. If there is another, and I have no reason to think there wouldn't be, I only hope that it's a full length novel.
I was pretty excited when I saw there was a new book to the Midnight Hunters series. I love wolves so the series has always been a favourite. I had to skim through the overly heated parts (pun not intended) 'cause it was a bit much, I wanted to know what was happening with the new pack and whatever was attacking them. I would have loved to hear more about the Alpha's twin pups... 'cause who doesn't love puppies?
An alpha comes asking for help when her captain disrupts the negotiations by trying to mate the other pack’s captain.
Sex is on the mind of multiple people in L.L. Raand’s Rogue Hunt. I will not say much as this is a novella and most of the action that takes place in this story revolves around the couples and whether they will or will not have sex. Alpha Sylvan Mir makes up for lost time with her mate while dealing with council and deciding whether to help Snow Crest Alpha Zora Constantine. In the meantime, both of their captains cannot keep away from each other as their attraction builds with each contact. There is also the attraction between Alpha Zora and a trainer for the Weres. Then there is question as to what exactly will everyone be fighting if they decide to form an alliance with the Snow Crest as even their Alpha cannot accurately describe the danger that awaits them.
Let me just say that the sex is quick (laugh), maybe because it is a novella but these shifters do not require much in foreplay nor in actual action. I did like the chemistry between Ash and Jace, but I think I would have like more communication but once again this is a novella so it is just a bridge to another book. I enjoyed this quick glimpse into the “Midnight Hunters” series and I have to say it makes curious to read some of the other novels. Stay tuned as one is bound to appear here soon!
I love L.L. Raand’s books. In Rogue Hunt, the Timberwolves are requested to aid the Snowcrest wolf pack, a smaller pack who have been off the grid for centuries. They've been attacked and picked off by an unknown attacker. As the two packs ally together against this unknown attacker, Timberwolf's centurai Jace and Snowcrest's Captain Ash fall in love.
The story centers on Jace and Ash, but the whole book seemed to be missing something. Usually there is more to the story. In this story, I expected more about the two packs, the determination of who was attacking, how the packs would work together now that the two wolves were mated, and finally, more about this intrigue that Snowcrest's Alpha might have with a Timberwolf Captain. But it didn't go there. Everything built around Jace and Ash was fluff. I got to the end of the book and thought, where's the rest of the story? I know these books are primarily about the love story, that's why I love them. But I feel like I have unanswered questions this time.
However, putting my feelings aside, the love story is beautiful and I would recommend reading it.
That was hot and so full of sexual/sensual angst. I am so glad for Jace. I have been thinking about her over the last few books. This is the shortest book thus far in the series and I was a bit disappointed. Not a lot of new problems or issues with the other Praetern in this one. I was hoping that Francesca would show up so that we may deal with her. I missed not seeing much of Jody and Becca. I also miss Michel and Katya. Besides Drake and Sylvan…the bonding of Katya and Michel was my favorite story arc. I was especially drawn to Michel. And witnessing her find love and peace with someone after being more than 600+ y/o is remarkable. I hope these characters show up in the next book.
📍 “Before she’d turned, when she’d been only human, she would’ve rejected the very idea of being so connected to another living being she couldn’t survive without them. Now she couldn’t imagine being without it. Sylvan was more than her love, more than her passion—she was her life.” + • + • + • +
The Timberwolf Pack ain't done yet!! YAAAAASSSSSS!!!
As they begin a new chapter in their fight for recognition, equality & peace in the coexistence between praeterns & man, their journey continues wirh old & new enemies & alliances.
I swear, this series just continues to achieve greater levels of awesomeness & excellence!!
Another brilliant story and read .This one from the Midnight hunt series by 'LL Rand aka Radcliffe. This time about a a smaller pack Snowcrest that asks for help from the Timberwoves Alha Sylvia they are being attacked and losing wolvrs. Ash is the captain of the Smowvtrest and Dora the alpha. When Ash meets Jace the centrist is the Timnerwolves each one wants to tussle and take them for there mate ,but fight against it.Torren (fae) and her mate Misha join the!to help . A well written story again by L L Rand and well worth a read. Looking forward to reading the next book in this series. A well deserved 5stars ++
I want more. I can’t ever seem to get enough of this series. The characters are magic within its pages. With every new book, I fall even more in love with the Timberwolf Pack and their friends and allies. In this one we finally get to see Jace find her mate. We get a new Alpha from a bordering pack who is looking for an alliance to help save her remaining pack from border attacks. I hope to see more of Zora and to learn more of her past in the next book. The end leaves off with a new foe on the horizon. I can’t wait to see what will happen next.

Love this series. There is much more to it than just supernatural fun. The book was a bit short wanted more as usual but it was like taking an evening with friends you have not seen in a while. If you want to read this book I would recommend reading the entire series. You will not be disappointed. I am hoping for a continuation to see what is to come with the introduction of the Northern wolf pack. It is recommended highly and enjoy the fun.
I was sad to find out that this was a novella. I wanted more!!! Been waiting for the release of this. Huhuhu :( i wish the next books will be released soon!!!! I re-read all the previous books prior to reading this one, and reconfirmed that it's one of my fave supernatural books out there. Great!!! Really really can't wait!
