***From bestselling author Kenya Wright, comes a new series called the Butcher and the Violinist.***
In Paris, they called him Le Boucher. The Butcher of the Corsican. Jean-Pierre’s greatest gift was a lack of feelings. His past had ripped them away. But then he saw Eden. On stage, she played her violin, spinning his head with songs that he’d tried to forget.
Unable to stop himself, he makes Eden his obsession. And unlike any normal man, he takes what he wants.
But there’s someone in the shadows, blocking his path. His plans for Eden won’t be so simple. This mystery person sends Russians his way, igniting a war with the Bratva.
Too bad, there’s no limit to his obsession for her. No force that can stop him. No bullet to get in his way. Jean-Pierre would kill anyone and destroy anything to taste Eden’s love, even go to war.
WARNING: This is KW, being very KW. Mystery. Money. Darkness. Power. Mind twists. Sex. If you enjoyed Dirty Kisses, Power, and No Ordinary Love, then you won't be able to put down this addictive story. And you’ll make Jean-Pierre a new book boyfriend to dream about.
Kenya Wright wrote her first novel during her third year at UM Law school. She dropped out a month after the release and never looked back.
Words are power, and Kenya wants to be the greatest wizard that ever lived.
It's an audacity to inspire and teach the healing of love through arousal.
It's this crazy idea that love can not only help a reader escape, but the story can also teach the person about being human, while making them laugh, cry, and hot for more sex.
REREAD 3/15/19... When you can't get the song, 'Candy Shop' out of your head ( Celina's place where Eden worked) along with the vivid and endearing couple, Jean-Pierre and Eden... well, you do what you must... a repeat read and continue to enjoy it even more!!!!

Things are not what they seem ... to be... in reading "Rhapsody: Interracial French Mafia Romance (The Butcher and the Violinist)"! Once you think you're getting the story, the twist and turns are like a maze but the music and the passionate violin player calmed the butcher, Jean-Pierre
Bravo once again to Kenya Wright! This was perfectly Wright!
This story was erotically COMPLEX-- all the things that I have come to love when reading, dissecting and loving dark and smexy mafia reads. The hero, Jean-Pierre Fabron was a multifaceted character who was dangerously dark and sexy but when he met heroine and violinist, Eden that first time ( long before she was aware), he was anything but dark because she gave him back his life and some light again. I admired Eden from the start because she saw something in Jean-Pierre that was worthy of admiration and love that was opposite of his Mafia lifestyle. Yes, Jean-Pierre was cultured yet surrounded by an environment of deadly mayhem with cousins, Rafael, Giorgio and Louis- the Corsican France Mafia etc.! All of these deadly and methodical men were downright powerful and engaging in their own way but Jean-Pierre was the ringer of this tale!
This story is one that I didn't want to give away many spoilers but know this --- previous death-dealing characters are back: Kazimar (The LION), Mischa (The Wolf) and Sasha were reintroduced from Wright's The Lion and the Mouse series, "Dirty Kisses" and "Dirty Love" but we are also introduced to a more deadlier character by association to Russian mafia by the name of Celina and she's Eden's calculating and crazy aunt with an agenda that will leave the reader(s) reeling!
Now I will be the first to tell you that I hate cliffhangers
but the way this story was so masterly written, I'm looking forward to knowing what in the Sam Hill happens to Madame Celina and the manager, Shalimar of Candy Shop????
I was enjoying this book, until the writer decided to insult my intelligence. I was expecting this to be a fictional book and not a fantasy. I would have preferred a cliffhanger and a second book to provide the necessary time for the female lead to come to terms with her reality. A normal person would not just overlook the fact that someone literally stalked her and killed 100 people, because she was his “light.” The other absurdity is that everyone around him was just going along with him stalking her and killing people like it was business as usual. At some point, I guess the writer got tired of writing or maybe she was getting close to meeting her quota, because she decided to wrap up the story in three chapters....a confession from the male lead, the female lead coming to terms with him being a stalker and psychopath, because he fought a war and won me.” The best way to end this epic “love” story? Sex on a swing! Literally, the end!
This book one in a new series too me. This was also a new author. Eden is a beautiful violinist who lost her job after the symphony she played in closed. Out of options she accepts her aunt Celeine's offer to play music in her brothel. On her first evening of work, she sees a man who so handsome, he takes her breath away she seems to almost lose her nerves to play but does anyhow. Little does she know this man wants her. Jean-Pierre was obsessed with her but so is another man. Jean-Pierre is a feared man the call him (The Butcher) he has a lack of feelings but with Eden she makes him feel. I really liked J.P. although I did think he was crazy. This was a really good read I also liked Kaz (The Lion) the Russian mob guy who wanted Eden. After, never backing down from a war with Eden's Aunt Celina and Russians. He finally got his Eden. This book was full of mystery and suspense. This was also my first time reading this author this book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading book 2
One thing is certain you definitely delivered Kenya! It gave me everything, I was laughing, horny and sad at one point it was fire. Your words moved like poetry at times and the sex scene's was definitely stimulating! It made me feel like I was there. Lets not forget about the connection to other characters in The Lion and the Mouse. I was like hold up those names sound familiar yesss you blew my mind with that cause I couldn't remember you doing that before so that was very exciting plus I Want More! Can't wait!
4 stars because Eden let Jean-Pierre and her Aunt Celina off way to easily. I felt like there was no climax to the story. The climax would have been if she left him and her Aunt. I really enjoyed the story but that is a disappointment 😔
I cannot begin to describe how much this book consumed me. From 10% in I knew this was going to be a 5 star read. I absolutely fell in love with both characters but Jean-pierre really stole the show. There’s something just so sexy about a sophisticated man that could turn possessive and unhinged a second later and Kenya Wright did it perfectly! The build up tension before the Eden moved in was chefs kiss! I didn’t know I could get turned on reading about music? ALSO SPICY ILLUSTRATIONS PEOPLE!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶🌶.5 Mafia Stalking Possessive hero Poor fmc X rich hero Sex work
Freaking hot! Have never read this author but thought the cover was interesting. Glad I went with it. A story with lots of twist and turns. Hot sex and some hot art too. I am in for the next one and will check out some more from this author.
Three words.. Oh my God!! KW you’ve done it again. Do you know how excited I was to read about Kazimir in this book? Tokyo was even mentioned. Just imagine if The Lion, the butcher and the dragon should have to one day join forces lol that’ll literally explode my mind. What happened to Celina? How will she react to her niece choosing Jean-Pierre? What about Shalamir and Rafael will there be a story about them? Boy am I excite to read what else you have in store for us.
Throughout this story I could not put this book down, totally loved the connection between Eden and Jean-Pierre. The hero is a man that would move heaven and earth for his woman, even though she didn’t know him before he was still willing to do so just to get a taste of her.
Quick question. Am I the only one who thought that Eden’s father is in some shady business up in the mountains rather than building a church? Lol nevertheless we’ll have to wait on the next installment to see everything that’s going to happen.
KW you’re a great author lol and I love your tattoo concepts on your characters. Also I’m happy to see there will be more of Dirty kisses. Merci pour votre travail incroyable
This story featured Eden, a violinist who lost her job because the symphony house closed. To pay for her instrument and rent, her aunt invites her to play the violin at her brothel (yes, aunt Celina runs a whorehouse). At the brother, a wealthy mafioso named Jean Pierre takes notice of Eden and asks for private musical numbers.
What began as a business arrangement turned into a personal (sexual) arrangement. This is where the story got twisty. I won’t spoil it but Jean Pierre wasn’t whom he appeared to be and we learned why he was called Le Butchere “The Butcher”. Yikes!!!
Eden definitely jumped into a pool with sharks and didn’t know it. I thought she let money and cooch lead her down a dangerous path. She clearly wasn’t ready nor even savvy enough to deal with mafioso. I didn’t like how this story resolved even though it didn’t quite end.
Ms. Kenya Wright, you did your thang with this book. The way you wrote this story was genius. I loved it and I thoroughly enjoyed Jean-Pierre and Eden’s story. The story flowed very well. The story held my attention from beginning to end.
Jean-Pierre is seriously naughty and kind of a creep, but he is definitely book bae material. The chemistry and connection between him and Eden was undeniable. Great job, Ms Wright! I look forward to reading your next release.
Dunno. There's something really wrong with the story. The fact that Eden was so willing to forgive J.Pierre was not to my liking. I'd like to see a smarter female heroine. I could understand her behaviour at the beginning cause she didn't know but then she discovered the truth and in a nanosecond decided to stick with Jean Pierre. That was a big no. I would have prefered taht she took her time to really think about the situation and to listen to her aunt's side of the story. I don't know where the author is going with this story. Let's wait.
I loved it. This is the Kenya Wright I've been waiting for! Even and Jean Pierre were a sensually salacious couple. But let's just say, our girl Eden is not much of a problem a solver. She was not putting two and two together when it came to a few things. Although she knew her mind, that ending needed a few more things she should have seriously considered, than just it being a pre-lude to "romance" it was to have him basically stalk her for three years. All I'm saying is think about it some more.
This book completely sucked me in. The only negative thing I have to say is that I'm mad the next book in the series isn't out yet so I can find out what happens next. A great read!
Absolutely magnificent. This rich and erotic adventure challenges almost all the senses and keeps you glued to the end of your chair! I wish I spoke French but I certainly didn’t have to! Whew chile!
I was excited to read another Kenya White book as Rhapsody's blurb sounded right down my alley. Jean Pierre and Eden were sexy and delicious. He was a bad man who had a torch for Eden for years. I loved this so much! 4 stars! ~Ratula
I love Eden. I love Jean Pierre. I love their story. I loved the overlap with the Lion. I literally loved it all. This is def a new favorite. I need the next book ASAP!
I believe this is one of my favorite books by Ms. Wright to date! I fell in love with Le Boucher, Jean-Pierre. There is something about a man who is so enamored, so obsessed, so OTT alpha male dominant that No One and I mean NO ONE will stop him from obtaining his goal!!! Jean-Pierre's total single, strong arm focus was to get to Eden and everyone who stood in his way was butchered, just like his name stated! For 3 years, 3 long years this man was determined and made it his mission to get to his Eden and I fell in love with the sociopath named Le Boucher. I'm not sure what that says about me but any man, and I mean ANY MAN who will kill for me, love me, give me everything my heart desires, is going to be MINE!! LOL. I loved every single part of this book, from Louis, to Giogio, to Rafael, his entourage made me feel safe, so freaking safe! I am really intrigued as to what happened to Aunt Celina and Shalimar and I love how this book ties in with The Lion and The Mouse!!! I even saw a reference to the Yakuza, so that means some Kenji, right? I see what you did there, Lol. Loved it!! 5 French Loving, Obsessed, Mon Coeur, Tu es à Moi, Le Boucher Stars**** P.S. I cannot wait for the next book, looks like it will be more Kazimir and Emily(sqqquuuueeeeeee) I am dying with anticipation!!!!

I stayed up late to read this book! This is not your average love story/traditional romance but wow! I really love this book and found it intriguing-I could not put it down and loved how music was incorporated into the web of mystery, romance and danger that this book offers. I definitely recommend you read this book!
I purchased this book this morning and like Jean-Pierre became was obsessesed with it. I love the chemistry between the 2 characters and I loved the flow. It was interesting figuring out how everything happened. I loved how Kenya sprinkled Kazimir and Sasha's war in this book. The drawings were superb and added to the rawness and sexuality of the book. Well done.
I could not put this book down. I read it in one sitting. I love it, love it, love it!!!!! Please let there be more to this story. Awesome writing!!!!!
WARNING: Significant spoilers included in this review,
Listened to audio narrated by Blake Stanton and Cami Darian. I enjoyed her narration of Eden but Darian's narration of Jean-Pierre was awful. Jean-Pierre is suppose have a French accent but Darian's narration at first sounds Russian than switches to sounding like one of those old, dubbed, asian movies accent. Stanton nailed Jean-Pierre's accent, reminded me of my trip to Paris. Kudos to Stanton.
Eden is a violinist at loose ends after her symphony is closed and agrees to perform at her aunt's brothel, the Candy Shop. When an admirer she's attracted to offers to hire her for a month for a girlfriend experience she agrees and gets more than she bargained for. Jean-Pierre was a talented violinist before his hands were injured and he went to jail. He's now the head of the French mob and has been obsessed with Eden since he first saw and heard her play his violin. He will do ANYTHING to have her.
There is absolutely nothing PC in this book. Jean-Pierre is not a good man, he's nick named the Butcher for a reason and he's been stalking Eden for years. The only reason he hasn't approached her is Eden's aunt has been getting in his way. Jean-Pierre has spent the last three years killing in order to get to Eden and circumvent her aunt, while Eden has been oblivious.
Jean-Pierre doesn't apologize for what he's done or what he will do in the future, he is not a good guy but he will do anything to make Eden happy and to keep her in this life. I really liked that about him, while simultaneously creeped out by his murderous, stalker tendencies.
I tried to believe a talented violinist would agree to get paid to sleep with a man for a month but it wasn't easy. She wanted him and it was the only way she could have him, it wasn't like she was going to change her profession so I hated that she repeatedly kept pointing out that she was prostituting herself. It weirded me out when she was sharing intimate details with her handler, a prostitute who claimed to have slept with Jean-Pierre before, those conversations always felt very odd.
The heat is off the charts and I don't think I'll ever forget the violin playing scene, who know it could be so erotic. These two burn up the sheets and the story is definitely a dark fantasy as only a romance book could wrap up the end the way it did.
I really enjoyed this book once it hit the 2/3 mark. I felt the beginning to be boring, I put this book down numerous times but I wanted to read about Jean-Pierre's story as he kicked Kazimir's ass :).
As always a well written book with characters that come alive in the pages. I liked Jean-Pierre's obsession with Eden and how he wanted her from the first sighting. Also him being honest with her was cool, where he did not want any secrets between them. Jean-Pierre is now my new book boyfriend as DAMN!!!! the man is HOT!!!!!, he is even more so when he becomes obsessive and so so so possessive......just WOW.
His relationship with his cousins was really nice to read. I really like their dynamic. I so hope we get books on them!
Eden on the other hand was a bit hard for me as a heroine. I did not like that she took the girlfriend experience without more of a fight or resistance. I did not like that she was okay with the money/sex thing. Her relationship with Leo and Celina was nice to read.
I just wanted Eden to want Jean-Pierre just as much as he did her. There was no reason to doubt his devotion to her, yet she was still unhappy or unsatisfied in their relationship.
If Kenya ever decides to write a heroine that goes after her man from the start, that book would be phenomenal. This book came close but I did not like the 3 days separation and her reasons for it.
I knew right from the prologue that I was going to love this book. And I did. Though I'm not a fan of back and forth timelines, it worked here, with Jean-Pierre telling the past and Eden in the present. The level of jealousy and possessiveness that he had, I haven't seen it in many other characters. And it was done here in a different way in that the heroine was completely clueless to it all up until he divulged it to her. And while I'm on that, thank all the gods that there is a book out there where the Hero keeps a major secret that could destroy their romance, but HE is the one who comes clean before someone else can spill the beans and chase her off! It all ends with a happy-for-now, where you can tell that their story isn't done, but they are together and in a good place.
I loved the characters, the side-players, the mafia fighting in the background, and the added surprise of the illustrations throughout. The only downside of this book for me was the characters constantly 'remembering' conversations on page, when they were just had pages before. It made passages very repetitive and seemed like nothing more than page filler to get the word count higher.
Hmm what can I say about Jean Pierre and Eden? The chemistry ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The plot. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The sex. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Jean Pierre is a man obsessed. A powerful, wealthy beast of a man.
