Summer had passed, and the holidays were fast approaching. Everyone at the Shipwreck Café was getting ready for The Seashells and Christmas Bells Ball. Jay, true to his word, delivers a letter to the selectman of Anchor Point stating his intentions of taking his privately-owned beach and parking lot back from town use. Sid Swann, a selectman used to getting his own way, confronts Jay in public about his decision and heated words are exchanged. The next morning, Sid is found murdered in his office at the town hall and Jay is the number one suspect. Can he clear his name and find the real murderer when half the town wanted Sid gone? Will Jay be able to restore his reputation in time to sell enough tickets to the ball to help fund his new museum, The Tunnel of Ships? New ghosts and a hundred-year-old mystery add to the hectic holiday season. Come visit Anchor Point where ghosts roam freely, and family is everything.
Donna L. Walo-Clancy was born in 1959. She now resides on Cape Cod. Single, with three grown children, she enjoys walking the beaches, photography and day trips exploring new places with her kids. An avid concert goer, she has been known to hop in a car and follow a band up and down the east coast.
The second book in the Shipwreck Cafe cozy series, Seashells and Christmas Bells by Donna Walo Clancy, was a good sequel to this series. The characters are developing more fully, there is a new murder mystery to solve, the buried treasure is still hidden and Jay has a new ghost that needs his help.
This was such a fun mystery with a wonderful setting. I loved getting to know the residents of the town, particularly Roland, who, at times, I forgot was a ghost because everyone interacts with him. I also enjoyed the other paranormal residents and the resolution of that issue. I can’t wait to read the next one.
This story takes place September - December. I really enjoyed the mysteries and the charitable ventures. This story has some hard topics and the ghosts seem sad which was difficult for my sensitive soul. I don't like that the MC drinks every night. Just a personal grievance. Love that Jay makes wrongs righted and the side characters are involved too. I want to see what happens next so I will pick up the next book.
I really love this series and was so happy to see book 2. I like the fact that it is different than most cozies because it has a male main character. There is more to this story than just a murder, there are ghost and hidden treasure, a historic mystery. The location of a lighthouse just adds to the book as well as Roland the old ghost light keeper. I literally could not put this book down. Stayed up late to devour it in one day. Clancy's ability to write a story that draws you in from the start and keeps you turning the pages is multi layer talent. Love this author's work. Looking forward to Book #3 now!
Another wonderful read. A plot filled with deceit, illicit affairs, treasure, ghosts, murder and abusive relationships. Had my suspicions about the culprit but not the ones preceeding the final murder. Great to see the angst felt by men over being dumped and the rest of the characters are becoming not only clearer but more realistic with every book. He has had a good start but feathers will be ruffled when the council gets his letter regarding charges they make to park and use his beach. Things get worse when he has a public row about this and then the other man turns up dead. Plus he also has to deal with the family that had been more or less cut out of their father's will. Rocks through windows, public abuse and general temper tantrums follow. Now his new/old girlfriend is leaving town to help take care of her sick father and thinks they should both date other people. Not only that his plans for opening the tunnels under the lighthouse have thrown up another problem - a sobbing female ghost! Where is she? Add in another murder, an illicit baby, a missing man, jewels that seem to belong to a Duchess that together with her daughter vanished and we're never heard of again. Will they find the woman's body? Who is she searching for? Will they find out who the murder is? Where is the missing man? What will he do now that he has been dumped and worse his mother is the one to tell him?
What a fun little cozy I discovered through the CRAZY FOR COZIES Facebook page. I like that the lead character is male and a former professional (attorney) similar to David Rosenfelt's Andy Carpenter. I especially like the lead's strong sense of character and sense of duty to family, employees and animals. I don't normally care for paranormal themes, but in this case it makes sense given the series setting and is well done.
I typicaly read hard-hitting mysteries/thrillers, especially the psychological thrillers, but these cozies provide a mental palate cleansing that allows me to decompress and relax before tackling the next big reading/mental challenge.
Seashells and Christmas Bells, the second book in the Shipwreck Cafe Mysteries series, is absolutely mesmerizing and a total just-can't-put-it-down-until-it's-finished. Yep, I stayed up all night reading this book and will spend another sleepless night rereading it. Yes, it's that good! Seashells and Christmas Bells is a heart-warming cozy mystery read full of ghosts, romance, murder, hidden treasure, and more. If you love feel good happily ever afters, this one's for you!
In the second book we find ourselves back in anchor point with another murder to solve. Jay has to battle Mr Petersons kids over their fathers inheritence. He also has to deal with the town using his property without permission. And then Cindy leaves, telling Jay to move on without her. Martha and Roland the ghost both hint that Susan would be a good choice for Jay when he felt like dating.
Definitely full of mystery and intrigue. And ghosts!!! So much fun!
This is the second book in the series. It is such a great place to return too. I have so many favorite characters and can't wait to get to know them even better in upcoming books! The mystery is always captivating, and learning the history of the area, from the ghosts,is a big draw! I highly recommend this book!
This book is unique in the fact that the main character is male, very unusual for a cozy mystery. The author carries it off perfectly, but not making the male a macho jerk. The character continues to develop in the book and more mystery and ghosts are introduced. A good read, that makes you want the next book right away. I highly recommend this book.
This continuation of the series was a fun and enjoyable story. Picking up almost where book 1 left off it continues the saga of Jay, his brother Robbie, their mom and other members of the community. More mysteries to solve along with some unexpected drama, and sprinkled with lots of feel good moments. On to book three!!
I like this series very much. Jay is a nice change from the typical female main character. I hope that there are more stories coming out soon. Jay is a great friend and wonderful son. I like Susan very much. Roland the ghost is a nice addition. 👍😊
I enjoyed this story. I had not the 1st in the series but will do so. The mystery of the crying woman and the ghost of the lighthouse keeper made the tale more interesting.Liked the book.
Endearing characters, lots of detailed descriptions, and a wonderful small town setting. Add in a murder or two and some mysteries to solve and it's the perfect read for an afternoon.
Another book I couldn't put down. Leads us through Labor Day through Christmas events at the cafe while uncovering more treasures and secret spots and ghosts and more murders. Really wondering characters in a very charming setting. Really looking forward to the next book.
More than one mystery and two murders keep Jay and his family busy through Halloween, Thanksgiving and into Christmas. The second book in the series, this continues where the first book ended. The small town gossip is faster than a teenager texts in this book.
