After years as a hostage in Afghanistan, wounded journalist Will Sinclair retreats to idyllic Sugar Creek, Arkansas, to finish his memoir and get his life back on track. As if the town’s match-making mamas aren’t enough trouble, his own meddling family descends on him for the holidays. To get them all off his back, Will plots a ridiculous idea. He just needs the right woman. When he finds a bossy decorator in his yard, it’s more than her ugly Christmas sweater that makes her the perfect pick. Cordelia Daring loves her life as a foster mom and entrepreneur. But when she finds herself in need of money, Will’s offer comes just in time. Pretend to be his girlfriend for two weeks? She can handle that. Sure, she flunked drama in high school, but how hard could it be to pose as the arm candy of famous journalist Will Sinclair? Never mind that her foster son adores him. Or that his family is everything she’s ever wanted. Because when the deal expires, Cordelia intends to take her money and run. As the holiday draws near, their pretend relationship spirals out of control. And Cordelia’s not sure she wants it to unravel. If these two hope to make it till December 25th, they’re going to need some serious Christmas magic. . . If you like heart-warming characters, small-town romance, and laugh-out-loud moments, you'll love this visit back to Sugar Creek.

'He wanted joy to be possible for someone like him.'
After spending 4 years in an Afghanistan prison, journalist Will Sinclair is rescued and comes to the small town of Sugar Creek, Arkansas to recoup, trying to write his memoirs and get back to living a normal life. As if. His meddling family decides to come to him when he won't respond to their numerous texts and calls. Will loves his family but just wants to be left alone. To that end, he decides to maybe get them off his back by having a girlfriend. Only he doesn't have one. When he walks out in his front yard one morning and finds a bossy staging decorator directing a takeover of his lawn with Christmas lights, he has a crazy idea. Hire this woman to be his girlfriend until Christmas is over! Sounds like a plan. Or not.
Cordelia Daring loves what she does. She is a foster mom and loves staging, but her accounting job pays the bills. Does she have the courage to step out into the unknown, having faith that God will honor that decision? She takes Will up on his offer and agrees to be his pretend girlfriend for a few weeks. Sometimes things just don't go the way they are planned and this couple might need some Christmas magic.
Fans of Jenny B. Jones will love this because it brings back the Sinclair family spotlighted in Save the Date, which I have read three times now. And probably will again. This one is just as precious, too. I love immersing myself in one of Jones' books. They are so fun and so captivating that I just get lost and don't want to stop until I've read the very last word. The spiritual message is quite good here also. I loved every single minute. Recommended.
Update: December 2021. Reread this. Just as good!!!
Perfect! This is everything you could ask for in a Christmas novella—unless you want vampires, in which case, you’re out of luck. There’s even a kind of resurrection, so it’s a little like Christmas and Easter all at once! Lol. But seriously, after believing Will Sinclair died in a bombing in Afghanistan, readers will be just excited as his own family to discover he’s actually been held hostage all this time.
As is always the case with Jenny B. Jones’ books, the banter between Will and Cordelia is perfectly pitched—never forced or lame—and somehow perfectly complements the more serious side of this novella. After all, you can hardly spend four or so years as a hostage in Afghanistan without having some emotional baggage to sort through, and I love that Jenny B. Jones deals with this as naturally and authentically as she does the banter.
There are cameos from beloved characters, a cute baby, Christmas sweaters, several swoony moments, and one very charming if wounded hero. Really, what’s not to love?
I really enjoyed this sweet Christmas Romance. Hanging on to the feeling of Christmas a little later this year:} I have enjoyed this author and want to read more of her books. This had some great banter between the two characters. I really enjoyed all the fun elements of this. The Christian element was thrown in the end and just didn't seem to go with the rest of the story.
I really enjoyed this one! Great characters, loved the relationship between Will and Cordelia and of course little Issac. I’m really liking this series and can’t wait to read the next book!
Content: Kissing, no language, no violence but talk of Will being a POW - nothing graphic
His Mistletoe Miracle is a fun, light Christmas story that includes the smart, slightly irreverent wit I've come to expect from Jenny B. Jones. Combine quirky characters, charming banter, and a swoony guy. Then add a pinch of Christmas kitsch and you've got yourself a delightful Christmas read!
(Note: You do not have to have read the other Sugar Creek novels or Save the Date to enjoy this story!)
This story deserves some serious gushing! Let me start by saying that “Save the Date” is one of my top 3 all-time favorite books. When I found out that there was a surprise story coming about one of the characters from that book, I was THRILLED!! This story was all I could have hoped for. Classic Jenny humor, great characters and a fun storyline made for a perfect Christmas novella. Highly recommended!!
Happy sigh- I adored this one! Light-hearted, witty and going into deep topics all at the same time. You just can’t go wrong with this author’s books!
(Also want to appreciate the fact that this was a clean romance! Rather refreshing after some misses I have had lately in the contemporary romance genre).
Adorable, clean Christmas read! Felt like I was reading (a less cheesy) Hallmark movie. Perfect read for this time of year. While I wouldn’t necessarily wear Cordelia’s wardrobe 😜, her spunk amdnlobe for Christmas was endearing. And every time Will held Isaiah, I think I actually melted. ❤️And I LOVED seeing Alex and Lucy again as well as briefly seeing Finley and Beckett. It felt like a sweet little epilogue to their stories since we got to see them in the future. I like how the books are all tied together even though this one is technically in the Sugar Creek series.
Anyway, if you’re in the need for a sweet, clean, sigh-worthy Christmas love story, this is for you!
A FUN and hilarious romantic story that also balanced a meaningful message of growth and even the fallout of a traumatic experience. With plenty of snarky, laugh-out-loud moments, Will and Cordelia navigate their newfound pretend "relationship" through holiday traditions and family gatherings, all the while really getting to know each other and prodding each other toward greater purpose. I hope to catch up on the rest of the "Sugar Creek" stories soon!
Fun note: this is another Arkansas-set story! I don't find many of those. I even know where the real "Sugar Creek" is. ;)
After years in a prison in Afghanistan, wounded Will Sinclair has returned to small town Sugar Creek to try and get his life back and finish a memoir. But his family becomes clingy and overprotective, so he decides he'll have a fake girlfriend, so pays his Christmas decorator, Cordelia Daring to play his girlfriend for 2 weeks. She needs the money as she is a foster mom, so she agrees to play along with Will's scheme. But neither counts on snowflakes and a little boy to bring romance into the picture. Sweet Christmas romance.
Jenny B. Jones Christmas novels go perfectly with a night on the couch and a mug of hot chocolate.
I’m not usually into the whole fake dating trope, so it must be this time of year that had me loving it. This story had: an independent woman for the main character, a swoon worthy love interest, light humor, and a few melt your heart moments. I appreciated the faint incorporation of Jesus and the clean romance. Really, what more can I ask for?
This was a quick, feel good story that left me with a smile. On to the next Jenny Christmas book!
I liked this one and I really loved the banter between Will and Cordelia. I was just surprised at the many edit errors in this book. Also the ending is weird...it ends quickly and there's no break between the ending of the story and the introduction to the author's next book. If those things get fixed this is a five star Christmas story. I loved the characters in this book- very well developed with depth.
Content: Clean Language: Clean Religious: Yes. Typical for this author- nothing preachy, just a few places with Christian themes.
So good that I read it within a couple of days- it’s the perfect continuation of the Sinclair’s story. Sweet and Christmassy with classic humor. I didn’t want to put it down!
You had me at Will Sinclair! A lovely, light, fun and heart-warming read. Full of Jenny B Jones’ signature sass, the best citizens of Sugar Creek, and my favorite holiday read this year.
Sincerely charming. Jones resurrects a character I have very much longed to meet: Will Sinclair. As always, the spiritual thread is relatable and insightful. I did find it a bit repetitive that twin brothers would have such similar love stories. (See Save the Date!) *Shrugs* When it's Christmassy with all the feels of Hallmark but none of the cheese, it's everything a holiday read should be.
I felt like it was a rerun of "Save The Date". Same plot different names/town/friends. Loved that Will was back, but I was just hoping for a more indept story concerning him.
I could give this book 10 STARS I absolutely would!!!
His Mistletoe Miracle (2018) by Jenny B. Jones is the third book in her Sugar Creek Novel series. This book comes in eBook form, and is 200 pages in length. With a full-time job and a very busy six-year old at home, this novel took me less than one day to read. I purchased this novel from Amazon on December 13, 2018 in order to review. In no way has this influenced my opinion of the book. All opinions expressed in this review are my own. I give this novel 5+++++ STARS. His Mistletoe Miracle is a Contemporary Inspirational Romance.
His Mistletoe Miracle is one of the BEST books I’ve ever read hands down! I laughed so hard. I cried like a baby. And, I even felt a little weak in the knees a couple of times. This is one of those books where I stopped to re-read passages to my husband because I loved the moments so much I wanted him to love the moments, too. I love when I want to do that with a book!
The fake girlfriend/boyfriend plot is one of my most favorite tropes ever, and Jenny B. Jones does this plot line perfectly. From the negotiation meeting all the way to the final page, Cordelia and Will’s relationship is a pure delight to read. The wit and sarcasm flying between the two is written so well I was in tears laughing so hard. Cordelia and Will have superb chemistry. I adore their friendship. These two are not afraid to tell each other real truth. They become the voice of reason to one another and say the things that need to be said exactly when things need to be said. I also very much enjoyed watching as their relationship bloomed into one of love and respect. Jenny B. Jones crafted a seriously excellent partnership in this novel.
His Mistletoe Miracle was a cathartic read for me that I didn’t even know I needed. I related so much to Will and his issues. Will is a very well-written traumatized character. It’s been 9 months since Will was rescued from a prison/torture cell in Afghanistan. Instead of dealing with his issues, Will would rather run and hide. He knows he needs to move on, but how does one do that when guilt and pain and fear are constant companions? When Will meets Cordelia he is instantly drawn to her joy, sweetness, and security. He almost takes over her days because he craves the freedom he feels when he is with her. Being with Cordelia means a reprieve from the constant aftereffects of his trauma. But, all he is really doing is hiding. He’s hiding from his truth, from his loving and concerned family, and from his future. When things sort of blow up between him and Cordelia, Will feels at his lowest. On Christmas Eve, Will finds himself collapsed in front of the very used and old Nativity set in front of his church and cries out to God. He can’t handle the pain anymore. I balled my eyeballs out. I needed this reminder SO badly this Christmas season.
Life has been extremely painful since April 2017. Every time I turn around another shoe has dropped. I’ve been praying to God. I’ve been studying His Word. I think I have been giving Him all my pain, but the truth is I’ve been hiding just like Will. I have been giving God just enough, but not all. Reading His Mistletoe Miracle has shown me that I am tired of carrying my pain. I am tired of the pain caused by my dear friend Tim’s unexpected death this past June. I am tired of the pain of watching my best friend Lara scared as she battles a cancer that’s holding on to her so strongly. I am tired of being angry because God has’t healed her yet. I am tired of the pain that comes when people tell me that God allows all things for a reason. I’m tired of doubting my faith because of all this pain. I’m tired of being scared of losing my best friend. If I lose her to this cancer, I will have lost both of my best friends. It has been so hard losing Tim’s guidance, wisdom, love, and laughter, how do I lose Lara’s too? How does one go from being the three amigos to being just one amigo? And, I’m so tired of my physical pain. I’m not very functional most days, and it scares me. What am I supposed to do? Well, like Will I am supposed to really go to God. I am supposed to bare my soul and hide nothing. He already knows how I’m feeling anyway, so why hide? Instead, I need to lean into Him and let Him help me. This reminder alone makes His Mistletoe Miracle a must read for 2018!
His Mistletoe Miracle is a wonderful story. I am so glad that I took the opportunity to read this fantastic book. I was highly entertained, completely engaged, and reminded that I need to stop dwelling in and on my pain and take it to the only One who can heal me. If you need a beautiful Christmas novel to escape into this holiday season, I implore you to purchase a copy of His Mistletoe Miracle. It’s a truly lovely book that has left this reader with a smile on her face and a little extra hope in her wounded heart.
Aw man guys, I’m so disappointed by this book. But let me explain. I wasn’t reading the rest of the Sugar Creek Series. I picked this one because it was highly rated on here. So I start reading the prologue and I LOSE IT bc it’s Will Sinclair!!!! Like from my FAVORITE BOOK EVER, SAVE THE DATE! He’s alive!! And I’ve read Save the Date three times this year and I had very high hopes for this book because of it. So I think if this had been a stand alone book like Save the Date it would have been better. It would’ve been fleshed out more. I felt like they handled his trauma TERRIBLY. Very unrealistic and it had me so irritated at his family. Like really?? They expect him to be back to normal only a few months of getting back?? What even. Soooooo unrealistic and frustrating. Maybe flesh out ptsd and weigh more on the beauty out of ashes. I liked when it noteably mentioned he was uncomfortable around the children for awhile, yet comfortable with the baby that was good, but I wanted more of that BUT it was a Christmas series, so I wasn’t going to get that depth. Though I know she can write depth by how much she worked through trauma in I’ll be Yours and then Save the date. I guess I’m just so disappointed because Will Sinclair deserved his own book. That had as much mess as Save The Date. But she KILLED that book in the best way and it’s AMAZING. I squealed a little when Alex and Lucy made appearances. But I just felt like even they were very superficial with Will... and I felt like they were kinda out of character. Until the end when Alex threw snowballs at him. It just left me wanting more. honestly? I don’t think their relationship will make it. I didn’t feel a ton of chemistry. And there were a bunch of typos. Biggest one, in the first half of the book, Mrs Chen one chapter changing into Mrs Chang the next... mmm... I feel like that should have been noticed. It all felt rushed. One star is based on the story and the other is because I adore this author and will keep reading her stuff.

After reading There You'll Find Me, and absolutely LOVING it I was ecstatic to find that Will Sinclair came back! And after reading in the description that his family made an appearance...I had to read it! (Despite it being a Christmas book in March) I was pretty thoroughly disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it was a cute read if somewhat stereotypical, but Will...he just wasn't Will. At least not the Will you hear about throughout the entirety of TYFM. He wasn't considerate, his so-called "special" connection with Finley... that was kinda thrown out the window (defenestrated). The whole romance in the book was built upon his desire to avoid his family. Now, some of his recluse behavior I can understand, but some of it wasn't really expanded on, and his character was rather--blah. The best storyline in the book was that of Cordelia and Isaiah. I really felt the mother's love for her son, even if they weren't related by blood. I did appreciate Will's love of Isaiah and considerateness for Cordelia, but some of his actions just didn't make sense to me. I can't help but wish that TYFM had just ended, and that had been that. If the story was indeed reopened I would've been content with some more banter between Finley and Beckett, not the whole everyone-thinks-he's-dead-but-he's-not trope. So read if you're bored, just know that this Will is not the Will we hear about in TYFM.
Also, no mention AT ALL of his time in Ireland (or his journal) I found it quite weird 🤷♀️

All Cordelia wants is for her staging company to take off and be able to live her life free from her past and all the pain she knew growing up. She was minding her own business when her life took a crazy turn. Will she be able to survive this holiday pretending to be the girlfriend of a very handsome, and well-known news reporter? All Will wanted was to be left alone to recover from being captured and held to four years. His family doesn’t seem to understand and now he must pretend to have a girlfriend just so they all will go away. Can he do this and survive all the Christmas gush and family smothering? Can both Cordelia and Will learn to give their pain and hopes over to God? Whenever I read a Jenny B. Jones book, I know I’ll enjoy it. I’ll be entertained with some humor, quirkiness, sassiness, drama, and sweet romance. Her books always have characters who are unusual and some a bit eccentric. Yet, they are characters you will come to love and enjoy. This book was fun to read as my last book of the year. It was a book that showed there is hope when it seems impossible and when life throws you a curveball. (Or maybe I should say, a snowball!) I highly recommend you pick this book up for a fun delightful book to read during the holidays.
This was cute, and so glad to see Will alive!! Some sigh-worthy moments. The Sinclair family seem so adorable. And I love that Cordelia so selflessly foster-adopted Isaiah. And her 2 CIA-retired friends were hysterical! However, I preferred Alex and Lucy's story in Save the Date a lot more. Some of the conversation in His Mistletoe Miracle just didn't quite ring realistic. I would have loved more details around the family's reaction to Will coming home, after the ordeal they went through in Save the Date. Really cute though and I'm already started The Holiday Husband!

This was adorable. A Hallmark movie in book form and perfect for the holidays. I loved meeting Will (finally!) and Cordelia, and getting glimpses of past characters was pretty fun too. Although Will’s past makes this books a little more weighted, the story never dips into depressing territory, and I liked the humor that gave this a bit more of a lighter tone. Both Will and Cordelia have a lot going on in their lives, and I enjoyed the sweet romance that builds between them. These two are a great match in the way they challenge each other and make each other laugh.
For logistics sake, the story continues with characters from SAVE THE DATE and THERE YOU’ll FIND ME as well as the Sugar Creek books. My only complaint is that this could have used another round of copy edits.
Love triangle factor: none! Cliffhanger Scale: stand-alone companion
3.75⭐️ A sweet, holiday romance. I probably would have rated it higher if I wasn’t such a huge fan of “Save the Date” and “There You’ll Find Me.”
This is a Christmas romcom featuring Alex’s (MMC of Save the Date) and Finley’s (FMC of There You’ll Find Me) brother. Since we’re told in the other two books this brother is dead, I was interested to see what his story would be about.
I won’t spoil it any further other than to say I get like the Will described in this book didn’t live up to the Will described in the other two. However, I will concede that because we never actually never met Will in the other two books, every thing we know about him comes from his brother’s and sister’s thoughts about him, and they both held him in very high regards, especially in comparison to their own faults.
This is still a good holiday read with sub themes of justice, healing and family.

In another lifetime Will and Cordelia would’ve been a match so perfect that no other could rival them, but this is reality and life got in the way!
Will is trying to put back together the pieces of his life and Cordelia is trying to keep hers as well as others from imploding! When a meddlesome landlord gets her way these two are thrown together and a desperate need has Will calling Cordelia his! They have only a couple of weeks and a handful of engagements to get through together to both get what they need but life might give them more then anticipated!!
I was so excited to read Some more amazing Jenny B Jones words and this book was a definite surprise and something I didn’t know I need till I read Will’s story (thank GOD its Will)
