From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comes The Boyfriend Collector.
I JUST NEED ONE GOOD MAN TO GIVE ME HOPE…
Treated like a servant in my own home, I can’t stop dreaming of my twenty-first birthday. It’s the day I’ll inherit a fortune, break free from my cruel family, and finally start living my life—finish school, travel, find love. After a lifetime of hardship, it’s all I’ve ever wanted.
Sadly, I’m about to discover a shocking secret my family’s been keeping from me. I must marry before my birthday to claim the money. Worst of all, he must be approved by my grandparents—the same people who are trying to steal my inheritance.
It’s ugly. But there’s no time for tears. If I want my fairy-tale to come true, I’ll have to find a man I can love and trust. Unfortunately, that’s easier said than done.

Whether it’s Romance, Suspense/Thriller, or Fantasy, there are always big heroes to root for, smart and resourceful heroines, and a ton of heart pumping excitement in every story.
Mimi lives with her extremely patient husband (“Be right there! Just one more page, honey!”), two pirates-in-training (their boys), and their three spunky dragons (really, just very tiny dogs with big attitudes) Snowy, Mini, and Mack, in the vampire-unfriendly state of Arizona.
The Boyfriend Collector is book one in this duet by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff. I have come to expect the unexpected with any book of Mimi Jean’s, and this book definitely fits this description. I would call this a Cinderella story. It is not a cliff hanger. The book comes to an ending. But it is a “to be continued.” Because there is definitely more to our heroine’s story which will be here soon in the second book.
Rose Marie Hale grew up in the mansion of her mother’s, a mother she never knew. Instead she was raised by her grandparents. She spent her life being made to feel small, worthless. She was made to work for her keep. She was told that her mother’s fortune would become hers upon her twenty first birthday. Except Rose found the “real” copy of the will. Her entire life was a lie. In reality, her grandparents were greedy and abusive. But also, the will states that she has to marry by her birthday, or the entire estate will go to her grandparents.
In desperation, Rose seeks out the help of a therapist, Dr. Bex Hughes. She has a plan. But you know that desperate plans rarely go as hoped. There is one additional glitch to Rose’s plan. She hadn’t planned to fall for her therapist.
“She’s a force of nature, and if the right man is lucky enough to catch her wind in his sails, I have no doubt he’d stay by her side forever.”
This is told in alternating point of views, Rose’s and Bex’s. If you like strong, determined heroines, then this book is for you. Because just like in the quote, Rose is a force of nature. She doesn’t look back, just keeps looking forward, doing whatever she needs to do to achieve her goals. She might be a little naïve due to the fact that she’s been completely shut off from the outside world her entire life, but she’s a fast learner.
As I said earlier, you never know what to expect with Mimi’s books. And this one is just the same. You don’t know who to trust or what’s going to happen next. I can’t wait to see what the next chapter of Rose’s story is.
This man doesn’t just have a stick up his ass, it’s an entire forest.
The maids come and go like lettuce in a vegetable drawer. They’re chewed up or they rot, but either way, they’re gone in seven days.
I’m not looking for Mr. Perfect. I’m looking for Mr. Perfect-For-Me.
I rub my eyes, disregarding the fact that I still have on last night’s mascara and that I’m going to look like last night’s trash panda, too.
My Review:
This fast-paced little missive was a quick read with a bit of everything including Ms. Pamfiloff’s trademark snarky humor, family drama involving a naïve and gullible Cinderella-type main character, greedy grandparents, fraud, a hitman, embezzlement, multiple suitors vying to be groom potential, and a wonky will. Oh my, and the story isn’t done yet. I am eager for the rest of the tale, even though I want to give Rose a few good pinches for being so dim-witted and easily deceived.
Cinderella with a deviously contemporary twist! Mimi Jean Pamfiloff had me loving every word of THE BOYFRIEND COLLECTOR as I laughed, fumed and took some satisfaction in one woman’s determination to save the legacy left to her by the mother she never knew.
Another fun read from Ms. Pamfiloff with her signature “wow” moments, a budding romance, twisted villains and oh, those evil grandparents! Rose was a charmer, funny, stronger than she realized and quirky, to boot! Her dear therapist? Hysterically blind to how deeply he was falling in love, but what about Rose’s desperate search for a husband to gain her inheritance? How many frogs will she have to date before she finds her Prince? Will Rose pull a switcheroo on her grandparents who have treated her like a peasant girl when the money they flaunted was always meant to be hers? I guess we’ll find out in the second half of this tale…and why do I see Mimi Jean Pamfiloff chuckling away at how she ended/not ended this fabulously entertaining read?
I received a complimentary copy from Mimi Jean Pamfiloff!

Mimi Jean has put a fresh and very original spin on the rags to riches trope and I loved it! I loved Rose! She’s a fighter and a survivor. I loved her backbone and fire. Girl power all the way.
I’ve seen people refer to this book as kind of a modern Cinderella retelling and having read it I can understand why. Rose has been raised by her grandparents and is treated like a servant whilst her family enjoy every luxury. She’s tried to assert herself but as her grandparents are only following requests made in her late mothers will it behooves Rose to just go with the flow knowing that on her twenty first birthday she finally gets the financial independence that she’s been promised. Or am I lying ? You see Rose has found another copy of the Will and realises that she’s been duped and in reality in order to get her inheritance she actually needs to get married pretty quick ! This author always gives her readers the unexpected and this book was no different. At just twenty years old Rose is pretty savvy but she carries a lot of guilt after losing her mother so I could easily understand why she believed her grandparents. We don’t actually get a lot in this book about the grandparents and perhaps I would have liked to see more of them but what we do get is Rose striking out and throwing herself wholeheartedly at her problem. Seeing a councillor started out as a cover for her activities but the more time Rose spends with Bex the more she relies on him for insight and support. Bex too is struggling with how he feels about Rose going out with numerous men and I found his attitude and thoughts very amusing. That right there is where this author excels as I hadn’t expected to get the point of view of Bex but it’s written in a way that’s both raw and honest. Does Rose beat the will and her greedy grandparents ? Well sometimes you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your Prince and believe me the men Rose gets entangled with on her hunt are far from straightforward. There is a resolution within these pages but there’s also a possibility for Rose to continue her journey and somehow I get the feeling that Rose will survive whatever gets thrown at her . This voluntary take is of a copy I requested and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
Normally I absolutely love MJP books, to the point that I've been known to rave about them. However The Boyfriend Collector, whilst a perfectly decent read, just didn't grab me. There was nothing terrible I could point at and say 'this is what's wrong', I just found it a little, well, boring at times. Some parts really grabbed me and held my attention, other sections not so much.
I loved the twisty and evil plot that was the basis for the whole story, though it was perhaps a touch too cliched or over-the-top for my personal taste. Sometimes I can go with stretching the bounds of what is believable and other times I struggle. Actually I don't think it would have been an issue if I had felt more invested in the book, so it really is a 'me, not you' situation.
Bex and Rose were decent as the main characters, whilst there is definitely an attraction between these two, the circumstances in this part of the duet mean we don't really get to see a lot of romance. I did like the twists (plural) at the end, and will more than likely read the conclusion of this duet. I would still recommend the book, it's well written, has a very unusual and unique plot, good pace and great characters. What didn't work for me may not be an issue for you.
Danger, betrayal, uncertainty and truly unique coming of age journey. This book has it all and then so much more....
What is Rose supposed to do when she finally realizes that the people she trusted her entire life have betrayed her in the worst possible way all in the name of money...... This emotionally thrilling, sexy fun and witty adventure is a must read for all!
It's obviously Minority Monday. I can't help it. This is the first book by this author that I couldn't stand. Nothing about it was appealing. Not the heroine (ewww) Not the hero? Heroes? Nothing.
It's only one book. Everything else I've read from MJP are winners :D
While this is a two parter, most everything is resolved so it's not much of a cliffhanger but with everything that happened in the story it really makes you excited for part 2 to come out. It's Cinderella meets The Bachelorette with a sprinkling of Fraser. Except Bex is way hotter the Fraser Crane and Rose's love life is WAAAYY more complicated than any of the Bachelorettes and more twisted than Cinderella's.
It's an easy read with alternating first person POV. It's angsty and messed up in all the best ways. I can't wait to figure out where MJP is going with it next.
I did not know wha to was getting into when j picked up this book. But all those twists. Those unexpected moments... Totally worth it and I can't wait for the next instalment!!!
Every time I read a book by this author, I can picture her sitting behind her computer, evilly laughing at the twists and turns she is inflicting on her readers. I sat down to enjoy this modern story of a princess who has been raised by evil relatives (this time grandparents) who make her cook and clean while they spend her fortune. In order to win her freedom, she must find the handsome prince to marry. And then, Mimi turns everything on its head and the story stops. It’s only the first half of a two-part story!!
Don’t get me wrong…the story is adorable. I just hate to wait!
I will admit that Rose is not my favorite heroine from this author. She is a tad too naïve, a bit too innocent. But I understand why those traits are needed for the story to work. I am looking forward to the conclusion of this story when Rose gains confidence, gains life experience, and hopefully finds her prince charming!
The Boyfriend Collector never went where I expected it to go. I did not see the surprises that the author threw my way. Nor did I anticipate the deeper meaning behind her quest to find love either. This book was cute and frustrating and as is everything else from this author, a pleasure to read. Mimi’s writing style is undeniably unique and her constant inclusion of little breadcrumbs from past books is just such a treat to encounter.
The Boyfriend Collector by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff chronicles the story of Rose Marie Hale, a young woman who has lived her whole life with her abusive grandparents. Rose has never had any real relationships as her grandparents rarely allowed her to leave the estate and made sure there were never any steady or familiar house staff. About a month before her 21st birthday, she discovers her mother’s real will and learns everything her grandparents told her has been a lie. Rose must marry before her birthday in order to escape their rule and inherit her mother’s fortune. She sets out on this crusade to find and marry a man in less than a month and thus begins her dating woes.
When I first saw the title of this book I thought maybe it would be similar to The Selection by Kiera Cass, but with more adult themes, so I was excited. I started it with high hopes, also because it’s rated so high on Goodreads, but was instead disappointed. I found the book was very hard for me to get into and the characters lacked depth. I just couldn’t get behind the premise of the story or why a mother would add a stipulation in her will that states her daughter must marry by the age of 21! Gosh, at 20 years old I found it hard to find and stay at a job I liked for more than 3 months, never mind pick a guy to be married to for forever AND give him half an inheritance.
Rose was naive ... and how could she not be? She was treated like Cinderella, never had any real, functional relationships and thought she could go on a few dates and MARRY someone in a month. Not only marry but find someone who truly loved her. She was also impulsive and indecisive... and how could she not be?! She flip-flopped between men after 4 hours of knowing them, agreed to fly out of country with a man she knew for 35 seconds, was willing to give everything up for a man she loved and then changed her mind 2 days later. But when your reward is millions of dollars, I guess there is no time to waste being level-headed. Considering Rose was shown, on multiple occasions, how malicious humans can be, you’d think she would be a bit more cautious.
As for the other characters, I often found myself asking ... “why are you here?” There were introductions to a couple characters that I just didn’t find served any purpose. I know there is a part two so I’m sure they will have appearances there and hopefully bring more to the story. They also contributed to this book feeling rushed. This book was over before it was even getting started.
Unfortunately, I won’t find out what happens in the second part of this story. This wasn’t the book for me and my TBR is too long to spend time reading the sequel.

Never ever underestimate what Mimi Jean will do to you as a reader. Not ever. Don't even blink. This story was a white knuckle brush with a lot crazy and all the twists and turns that MJ could throw our way! Holy hot pants! Forget the seatbelt, just prepare to be thrown. She brings us a deeply emotional story about Rose, child of a best selling author who lost her mother years ago, while she is still a living legend for devoted readers, Rose lives in her shadow under the cruel and perverse guardianship of grandparents who are too busy depriving Rose of any semblance of life, and robbing her blind. Rose lives as a servant while her grandparents just...... right. Rose seeks the help of a therapist after she learns the terms of her mothers will among other things; and being initially unable to even articulate what she needs during that first meeting with Bex, her therapist. As the story unfolds we watch Rose Marie both break free from her life under the thumb of the crazy family, she begins to stand on her own and decidedly starts making her own decisions. That said, what we get is what Mimi Jean is best at, a windy twisty insane story, suspense, romance and some outright crazy moments, leaving you to wonder what the hell you just read. I'm totally ready for the second half of this story. It's a must read.
Basically a modern retelling of Cinderella–complete with gorgeous gown and a grand party–The Boyfriend Collector was classic Mimi Jean Pamfiloff: characters who were not at all as they seemed, interesting chemistry, and of course plot twists and secrets to keep us readers on edge. Sounds fun, right?
You’ve gotta love a book that is all about self-empowerment and girl power without being too in your face about it. And that’s what The Boyfriend Collector was to me. Our heroine Rose had been neglected and mistreated from day one in her life, so it was quite heartening to watch her stand on her own two feet and take control of things like the true survivor she was.
Loved this book! Another unique work by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff! This book is part 1 of 2 and I can’t wait to read the next one and finally find out how this roller coaster of a story finally completes. As it’ll be a story by Mimi, I’m sure there will be more twists and turns before coming to a wonderful satisfying end. Mimi’s stories never follow the typical path and this is true of The Boyfriend Collector. It contains a backbone of will marriage requirement and Cinderella storylines, but it’s far from predictable. I know when I open a Mimi story, it’ll take me on a wild, unusual, exhilarating journey that will leave me anxiously awaiting my next Mimi fix. This book is about Rose Marie Hale, the only daughter of the deceased famous romance author Lana Hale. While she should have lived a privileged life, she instead lived like Cinderella in her own home, believing that was what her mother wanted for her as a learning experience. When she finds out that in order to inherit her mother’s estate of over 200 million dollars, she needs to marry by her 21st birthday and she only has 4 weeks to find someone she can trust to marry her. She enlists the help of a therapist, Bex Hughes, but not for therapy. She needs help to date without those trying to cheat her out of her inheritance from knowing what she is attempting to accomplish. Bex agrees to help her with the condition that she comes to see him once a week, recognizing that Rose has not come to terms with how she was raised and the emotions associated. Rose hasn’t had anyone she could trust in her life and comes to wholeheartedly trust Bex. I loved the strong characters. Despite her upbringing, Rose has such strength and confidence in herself and a touch of vulnerability. And, Bex has his own issues, and works so hard to hide his vulnerabilities and stay true to his rules, process, and convictions. Again, can’t wait until the next book.
The Boyfriend Collector is a contemporary Cinderella story but instead of waiting for her prince charming to rescue her, Rose pulls up her big girl panties and is determined to kiss as many frogs as it takes to find Mr. Right or at least Mr. Tolerable in order to claim her estate before her 21st birthday.
True to form, this author likes to keep us guessing with a couple Easter eggs, plot redirection and sexy men who are flawed enough and varied enough that Rose has to keep kissing her way through the froggy pond. I know who I’m rooting for!
I’m really looking forward to the next book in this series to see if my favorite floats to the top or if there are more delectable offerings for Rose to choose from. One thing I know for sure is that Rose will not be sitting around waiting for anyone else to determine her destiny.
Ahhhhhh!!! Another fantastic story by Mimi Jean!! Full of surprises and twists that you come to love and expect from the author, plenty of laughs, and a few nail biting moments too! I’m definitely excited for the next one!
The Boyfriend Collector is a fun take on a Cinderella story that has an interesting cast of characters and a few little twists and turns guaranteed to keep you entertained until the very end. Rose Hale is the daughter of a famous romance novelist who died during childbirth. A unique will stipulation requires the young Rose to marry by her 21st birthday so that she will have access to her inheritance. However, things are not so easy. Throw in an evil set of greedy, manipulative grandparents and a series of questionable dates and you have a recipe for not exactly disaster, but well yes, disaster.
I loved Rose. Given her horrible upbringing, you couldn’t help but be in awe of her positive attitude and sweet nature. She’s a bit naive (and also a bit wary) when it comes to dating and that is part of what made this book so entertaining. Bex is Rose’s therapist who has a process. A process that cannot be deviated from. He is dedicated towards giving his clients the tools they need to be their own hero and it was endearing to watch him struggle with his rigidness and maintaining that professional boundary between him and Rose.
The book has it humorous moments as well as some moments of suspense. It moves at a good pace and has an intriguing storyline. The various potential suitors were entertaining. This book does end in a cliffhanger. I received The Boyfriend Collector for free and look forward to the 2nd book, the conclusion to this duet.
Mimi Jean Pamfiloff has done it again. She's created a story with a cliffhanger, and one that I am eagerly awaiting the final outcome, as should come sometime in August. In a nutshell, Rose Marie Hale has until her 21st birthday to marry in order to receive her inheritance. And this man must be on a specific list provided by her grandparents, whom by the way, make Cinderella's stepmother look like a saint.
In an effort to figure out the crazy of dating and trying to marry before her 21st, she seeks out help from a psychologist, Dr. Bex Hughes. But he's not an option for Rose. Or is he? Well, regardless if he can be or not, Rose falls for him but he's off limits, of course. Since he's her psychologist.
It's part one of a modern-day Cinderella story, and I for one can't wait for the ending. Always humorous yet poignant. Write on, Mimi. Write on.
It's not my favourite book from this author perhaps because i hard an hard time to connect with the characters now since it's only part 1 of the story that could change but at this point i dislike Rose. Rose didn't have an happy childhood that's true, her grandparents were bad people and she suffered from it....now she has discovered the truth and want the money her money left to her for that she must fulfil conditions from her will one being getting married before her birthday which means she has less than 1 month to find the perfect husband.
To help her with that she ask the help of a therapist Bex Hughes who isn't resist well , wanting to help Rose who remind him of cinderella and protect her. Rose is determined, she is strong willed but also terribly naive... I didn't like how she reacted with Gustavo and then the decision she takes.
This is really well written, there are funny moments and while it's part one it doesn't end on a cliffhanger so if you want a good contemporary romance this can be the right book for you and bonus part 2 releases soon!
The writing: I started reading this knowing nothing about the author or how/what she usually writes. I hated how it started. Block after block of her whining that 'all my family hated me' without showing it. We have just a single conversation [if i remember right] with her grandma [before the shit hits the fan] where she tries to sweeten her and talks almost like the cliche' 'blonde chick' antagonist. And that's it. Like... she even works for her family but we never saw her do that, we didn't see much of the abuse so when you whine for entire pages about something that we didn't witness it's hard to feel for her and say 'yes, you don't deserve it' because we didn't see how her life in her family was! And it's such a major point of the story! At the beginning i skipped a lot of stuff, of her thoughts more precisely, because they looked like were just dumped there disregarding the pace of the story. And i think that's one of the flaws of the entire story in general, it felt like the author needed to say something [for ex. the background of a character] but it was put at the wrong time and just info dumped instead of sprinkled around. Also... one chapter is from a pov of a character we never meet afterwards. Like... wut? He just spent the entire chapter fawning over the protagonist and that's it.
The plot:
The main characters Rose Marie Hale: At first pretty naive and whiny, but i liked that she had some spine. She, unfortunately, did a lot of stupid stuff that lost some points for me and made her unlikable. I get that you are naive, but it doesn't have to go hand in hand with stupidity.
Doc. Bex Hughes: Ok guy. Liked him a lot. Never pushed his feelings, never was possessive and went 'growl' when a lot of others in similar stories/situations would. It's just sad that we never saw him outside his job/ therapy with Rose. He was put there to be the main love interest waiting for her while she went and searched for others and his personality never went deeper than that.
Overall i think it's an ok book. Would i recommend it? Actually yeah. Only if you want some time away from an intense, heavy reading and want something more chill, bland and without depth. Would i read it again or the sequel? No. Hard no. For me it finished here and i like the ending.
I usually love, love, love all of Mimi Jean Pamfiloff's work. This time, sadly, the premise was one that I just couldn't get into. There was just too much angst, too much tension for me, personally. If you like a good dose of tension and unrequited love while your love interest is intimate with others, then you may enjoy this book tremendously.
This was a departure from the author’s more supernatural or paranormal fantasy type books. I love to buckle in and go on that “what if…” ride with the author. It’s like improv. Anything that happens is 100% the truth. But like an improv, it’s only for a little while. It’s fun and a total escape.
This one is more subtle and has a message to it. Although there’s some legitimately over the top drama (like an opera without the singing), that’s the point. These are all representations of multi-faceted people trying to figure out which side they want the most. There’s always the option that you can pick none of those things or ALL of them. It’s not always only one career and only wife and mother. Women have the right to do what men have done for centuries! We are the masters of our own destines.
Mimi’s bio says she worked 15 years in corporate America and came out of the romance closet. The point is that you don’t have to hide your light under a bushel and THE ONLY WAY YOU GET WHAT YOU WANT IS TO GRAB IT. That “brass ring” is an option and you should go for whatever it is that makes you happiest. Or more than one thing.
We limit ourselves with forgetting that the one who makes the rules about anyone is the person his or her self. Why are you letting anyone tell you a lie about who you are or what you can do? Wake up!
Some people panned this book as too simple or too OTT and if you understood all things aren’t as obvious as society claims…if thought about these characters as traits and choices instead of people…you might just get it.
Then again, some people struggle with basic Aesop’s fables…so bless their hearts.
I challenge anyone who claimed to not love this book to read it again. But don’t make it all so literal. Think for a change instead of just putting it all on Tik Tok. You are the one who decides to limit your potential. Not me, not your family or friends or lovers. YOU. Why are you being a wimp? Are you afraid to fail? It means you tried. Afraid to try? You give up too easily. Do better.
Also, you can succeed beyond your wildest dreams and not be an asshole about it. You really do get more flies with sugar than with vinegar. Being pretty will only get you to a point. Being a good and honest person with integrity? Hey that is how you make it beyond the stars. Everyone needs help sometimes. By asking less than you deliver help means the times you ask will be stored up on the level of help. It’s like wine. Only gets better with time.
Be a good human. Don’t listen to haters. Fight back and don’t give up or give in. Dreams come in all sizes. Small dreams are just as important as big ones. Not all can be big or small. That’s okay too. Be the best backup dancer or understudy or whatever it is. You want greatness? Got to be ready for it. That’s how you train.
Advice is free and opinions are my own. Everyone has them and maybe you don’t agree. I’m good with you taking it or leaving it. I could have a troll because this is social media. You may want to think first. I fear no trolls…but they should fear me. I don’t give up or give in and my cause is just. The book is awesome, I’m going to go get part 2 and if you didn’t get it, read it again. I can explain it to you….but no one can understand it for you.
Raised in the lap of luxury but purposely excluded from it, Rose Marie Hale isn’t your typical heiress. Raised by nannies and tutors who never lasted longer than a few weeks under her grandparents guardianship since birth, Rose has isolated from her peers, without any true attachments.
Sharing a room room with another member of the staff, forced to earn her keep since she was a teenager, while grandma Gertie and Grandpa Melvil enjoy a life of leisure. This is all according to the wishes of her mother left in her will so she would understand humility and how to handle all she will inherit upon her 21st Birthday. There is one problem it’s all a lie, and now she has just 4 weeks to find a “suitable” husband or her grandparents will gain complete control of her trust fund and she will be truly destitute. Desperate to live up to her mother's wishes as well as beat her grandparent she tries to enlists the help of therapist Dr Bexley Hughes.
In this modern day Cinderella story, Rose tries to outwit her grandparents, find true love in 30 days, and figure out who she can trust. Once again Mimi Jean delivers a twisty tail where nothing is what is seems, assumptions are more than likely incorrect, and surprises are just a page turn away. Will Rose get her happily ever after or will her family win? Packed with the snark and brilliant 1 liners like “you look like an avocado with syphilis” and ending on a minor cliffhanger The Boyfriend Collector leaves you anxious for the finale in book 2 set to come out later this month.
Loved it! Cinderella's sister-from-another-mister ;) Another winner from Mimi Jean Pamfiloff!
An updated retelling of a classic tale – with an extra-twisty path, OF COURSE. I’ve read many books from Mimi Jean (loved them all), and you’ve got to accept the fact that you have NO idea what’s about to happen. Even when you think you do. I LOVE it!
This is a modern, fresh faced Cinderella story featuring a sweet -but-strong heroine and her reluctant-but-charmed hero. It’s incredibly easy to like and root for Rose – she’s had her entire life turned upside down, but she’s a fighter determined to get justice for her mother and herself. Despite her sheltered upbringing and the perils of the path she sets for herself, Rose will do what it takes to survive and find her own Happily Ever After. With all the curves and adventures, it’s still easy to recognize the fantastic “girl power” current running throughout the story as Rose comes into her own and learns to trust herself.
This is a very easy read told in the first person; the story is emotional, clever, and unexpected. Note that this book is part 1 of 2 in a duet, and while it doesn’t end in a cliffhanger, you’ll need to read both parts to get the FULL story. But there’s little waiting involved as book 2 comes out in a few short weeks!
If you are a fan of Mimi Jean' s books and are expecting red hot men and lots of sex like the Accidentally, King, and Mermen series then this book is not for you. If you are looking for sweet romance and happily ever after like the Happy Pants and even the Fugly series, take a pass as well. No vampire or librarians either. However, if you want to read a what seems to me like a modern Cinderella story, you have to read this new series. Rose Hale, heiress to the fortune left to her by her late author mother, has been raised by her grandparents. She is told that she will inherit the fortune on her twenty first birthday. She has spent her childhood doing without, cleaning and scrubbing alongside servants who never last long. Right before her birthday, she finds her mother's real will and discovers that she must marry and equally share her inheritance by her her birthday. She sets out to find someone she thinks she can spend the rest of her life with. Her "fairy godfather" is her therapist, who tries to lead her through the horrible truths about her life, her speed dating, and finding a life of her own. Could he be her Prince Charming? We will have to wait and see while she carries on collecting boyfriends!
