Beautiful Hearts #2

Long Live the Beautiful Hearts

Rate this book
Long Live the Beautiful Hearts is the emotional, heart-wrenching conclusion to the Beautiful Hearts Duet by bestselling author, Emma Scott. Never again would I allow my heart to become the plaything of someone else. Never again would I let a man (or men) come between me and my goals. Never again would I love without feeling the fullness of that love in return. Not until I knew it was real. And if that took me a lifetime to find, so be it. Those were my vows, and after all that had happened with Connor and Weston, I was determined to keep them. To protect my heart. And then he came home, and my vows became his promises. He held my heart in his hands with reverence and care. He helped me find my soul's greatest purpose in life. He loved me with a love so pure and vibrant, I knew I'd never feel anything like it in a hundred lifetimes. It was real. Until it wasn't. Until it all came crashing down when I discovered the deep love I thought I'd found was nestled in a web of lies—so soft and silken I hadn't noticed it was there. Until it was too late. ********** Long Live the Beautiful Hearts, a contemporary romance, is NOT A STANDALONE. It should be read after first reading Bring Down the Stars.

UPDATE: My mom just finished reading this duet and is in need of another box of tissues ;) She absolutely loved it.

6+ Twice Born Hearts!! Stars

Dearest Emma,

First, please accept my heartfelt gratitude for poignantly portraying in the most dignified way, the character of the selfless men and women who bravely defended and continue to defend our country, day in and day out, all over the world. If my husband, a 27 year vet, read romance and picked up this phenomenal book, he would be extremely pleased and thankful as well.

Secondly and without a doubt, this duet in my humble opinion, is your best work to date, and gracious sakes, that is saying A LOT!! Your love, before and after, genuinely radiates off each and every page, and we your readers are the fortunate, blessed recipients.

Your words never cease to hold me captive in a completely mesmerized trance.

*******

Dear Readers,

This is so much more than a gorgeous romance. It is an epic journey traversing the ebbs and flows of life. A celebration of the mountain highs and perseverance through the valley lows. A journey to cherish forever.

It is utterly amazing how Weston, Connor and Autumn feel like they’re part of my own family, like I’ve known them all my life. I bonded so deeply and owned their feelings right along with them.

My mom, who many of you met in my review of “Forever Right Now,” is going to flip her romance lid over this breathtaking story.

Honestly, if this book were 2000 pages, it wouldn’t be long enough.

Put simply, an astonishing read!!

It is incredibly difficult to review this sequel without getting into spoilers, so allow me to tell you in broad terms how much I absolutely loved and devoured this ending to a beautiful duology.

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ It was gut-wrenching, soul-shattering, mind-blowing awesomeness wrapped up in heartbreak and growth. Boundaries were drawn, and promises were made.

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Emma Scott tackles so many different issues in this sequel - disability, grief, loss, PTSD, the harsh reality for military veterans and prejudiced people out on the streets - and ties it all together with one overarching theme: LOVE.

Love for yourself, for your friends and family and for the love of your life. It was simply a wonderful conclusion that satisfied me and left me a complete and total sobbing mess.

Oh Emma Scott… what have you done to my heart? This duet broke me. But it also put me back together and healed me. By far one of my favorite books by Emma and the best duet of the year. This book was the epic conclusion to the Beautiful Hearts duet. This review won’t be too long because I don’t want to put any detail in it. You need to go in blind. Go in and enjoy the ride. Feel the emotions and be surprised.
“Grief comes in waves…This is a wave. You’re underwater but it’ll pass.”

I’m not going to lie. I was more than a little nervous to read this book. With how the first book ended, I didn’t know what direction that this story was going to go. The direction surprised me some, but in the very best way. Autumn is such an amazing character. I loved her even more in this book than the last. I love her strength, her dedication and her loyalty. She’s not perfect, but she’s real. I admire her for how she dealt with everything that happened in this book.
“Stay with him. And keep holding his hand, Autumn. No matter what happens. Don’t let go of him.”

Emma inspires me. Her words, her characters, and her strength as a human being. Her light shines through her stories. And they shine so so bright. This book moved me. It made me feel, made me dig deep and I couldn’t have loved it more. It was the perfect ending to Autumn’s journey. These books are must read and going to the top of my 2018 favorites list. Don’t miss out- be sure to check out these stunning stories!

5 "GR won't let me give more" STARS!

... A remarkable sequel.

Warning: You have to finish Bring Down the Stars first before reading this review. You will be spoiled.

I can't ... wow, just wow! This book is perfect! I can't explain the extent of my love for this! L. O. V. E. If you think I'm exaggerating, you have to read this to find out yourself!

Note: This is a second chance romance.

"I’m in love with Weston. Holy shit, I am so in love with him, I can feel it in every molecule of my body. I haven’t just jumped off the cliff, I’m swan diving off the ledge."

Long Live the Beautiful Hearts was nothing like I expected. The sky's the limit ... this was universal! I had glimpses of Weston and Autumn being together in the first book. But, I never realized how magical they were as a couple. Picture-perfect. I have no words!

Bring Down the Stars ended during a war in Syria in their first deployment where Weston saved Connor's life. Meanwhile, the sequel started over Connor saving Weston's life. Weston made himself a cover to protect an unconscious Connor from bullets. Weston was shot 4 times at the back. In that life-threatening situation, Connor had discovered that Weston was truly in love with Autumn. But, it's too late. Someone was dying and they both made a huge mistake that may be impossible to forgive.

"The thought of living without you…” I squeezed my eyes shut, my voice a whisper. “It’s fucking unbearable..."

Connor broke up with Autumn when he knew the truth. He was full of guilt and anguish. He blamed himself ... because his bestfriend couldn't walk again. As a friend, Autumn never once left Weston when he was in the hospital recovering. But, Weston didn't let her withhold her life for him, because he thought he never deserved a chance to be happy again.

“You need to do what I can’t do, Autumn. Get up and walk away.”

As the story progressed, Connor left Boston because he couldn't stand seeing his bestfriend in a wheelchair. Weston, though, reclaimed his friendship with Autumn. They have happy moments together. Swoon-worthy moments. And then Autumn finally realized that she loved Weston. Nothing like the love he felt with Connor. Until she knew the truth. That broke them together.

"How can I speak your name
When every word that follows
Should be a truth
That destroys your happiness?"

There's nothing to worry about, this book ends in HEA. A so beautiful ending that will leave you in tears of joy and happiness.

So, that was it. I survived. At last! Though, I have a headache. But, it is worthy! Everything is worthy if it made you lost in different emotions all the way. And this book? I will do anything to experience such thing, again.

I absolutely recommend this DUET!

"Long live the twice born hearts
Like mine.
It beats only for you
My love
Unending and infinite,
I will take you with me
Into the next life
And a thousand beyond that
Always.
Forever.

—All my love,
Weston"

Title:Long Live The Beautiful Hearts
Series: Beautiful Hearts Duet #2
Author: Emma Scott
Genre: Romance
Publication: October 14th, 2018

LONG LIVE THE BEAUTIFUL HEARTS: Is the conclusion of the duet ‘Beautiful Hearts’ by Emma Scott. To understand this it is recommend that you start their story right from the beginning.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

It was the night before deployment that set their story in motion, We'd broken the boundaries of friendship on the couch that night. Shattered them with wild kisses and grasping hands, as if we were desperate and starving for each other and had been for a long time.

Two best friends (Connor & Weston) soul mates, and the woman they loved (Autumn). One with a bright future who has fought for everything in life, the other born with a silver spoon in his mouth, where things come so much easier for him.

This picks up right where that emotional cliffhanger left off on, we didn’t know what the outcome was going to be, did they survive? How bad were their injuries? All stampeded on release day to one click this and finally we’re given answers to our fearful questions, both these boys have a long road of recovery ahead, one blames himself for the life changing injuries his best friend sustained due to one reckless thoughtless moment whilst in the war zone fighting for their county, fighting to survive, where what occurred changed their lives irrevocably. Will their friendship survive?

For you, I would
bring down the stars,
wreath their fire
around your neck
like diamonds
and watch them
pulse
to the beat of your heart.

From this point onwards the story takes us on an emotional journey as one of the boys learns that his life is not going to be the same as it was, we're there when he wakes up and is told the outcome, were there sitting beside him as he struggles to adapt to his new life, a dark tunnel ahead, but such strength shrines through the ever changing lessons he's put through, and love truly does heal.

I have loved you with both
Hands tied behind my back
Bound with pen and ink
Paper and words
Sealed with someone else's name
until this moment
in which I am nothing
but a man
who loves a woman
There is nothing left to say
Except to give
all my heart
for you.

Easiest 5 stars given!! And straight onto my favourite shelf of 2018!! This duet, this book was so godamn beautiful, nothing I say will ever do these books the justice they deserve, I went into this series, loving the author's words from previous books but not knowing that I would come out the other end of this duet completely and utterly blown away by how much these books impacted me, the feels, the angst, the emotions, were to infinity and back..My heart was shattered so many times but chapter by chapter it was put back together again, their story was wrapped up perfectly.

I highly highly recommend this duet. Both books fast became my favourites of 2018 and that is rare even for me!!

For those of you who don’t know, I’ve edited several of Emma’s books, LLBH being the latest. Part of editing a story is basically punching the shit out of it, therefore I can’t possibly write an objective, unbiased review. But suffice it to say, in my previewed, heavily biased, bruised-knuckle opinion, you’re going to lose your minds over this one. Enjoy! (Evil laugh)

Long live the beautiful hearts

Whose race has ended.

BEAUTIFUL. EXQUISITE. LITERARY PERFECTION!! I am not in the least surprised by how much I fell in love with this story and how Emma Scott’s writing deeply affects my soul in the best of ways. The ”Beautiful Hearts Duet” is hands down, my favorite by this author. This is why my love of reading will never falter and why I put Emma Scott upon the highest pedestal that only a select few authors can reach.

There wasn’t anything that I didn’t absolutely love about this story. It was heartfelt, poignant, and in the end, filled with such immense hope. It made me realize how truly small my way of thinking of what true happiness really is. I loved ALL the characters! Each and every character made this book for me.

I’m not going to delve into the plot. I will tell you this is going to be on many readers ”Best of 2018” shelves!!

Here are my overall ratings:

Heroine: 5+++++

Overall Opinion: This was a good conclusion to the duet. It didn't go the route I was dreading it was going to -- thank goodness! It took a turn into something unexpected and unique in that I've never read anything like it. That alone, made the book enjoyable. I'm going start that broken record here, so forgive me -- why not a farther glimpse into the future?! I get that we get some closure about a lot of stuff, but I wanted to see Autumn get her HEA! How did things pan out for them as older adults in their lines of work and their own family?! Those are some big subjects that felt open ended in a way that I didn't like. I know, I know -- I am extremely picky about what I consider a HEA...but this was a total bummer for me after all the hardships they went through! Oh well. Honestly, that author's note at the end hit me in the feels and made me forgive the ending anyways 😘

**Please do not read farther in this review if you have not read the first book in the duet, as I might have some accidental spoilers without tags -- and, as always, please don't click on my spoiler tags without knowing you're taking the chance that it might get ruined**

It’s always hard putting thoughts into words when it comes to an Emma Scott book, and it’s especially hard this time because of the potential for spoilers. But as I begin hour three of staring at my screen, I realize neither of those reasons are exactly my problem.

I want to say, I loved it and you will too, then list off compelling reasons to convince you to dive in, because seriously, you should. But the truth is, while I loved it for the same reasons everyone else did, I had a deeper connection to it that went beyond the basic plot. If you’re familiar with Emma and you read these pages closely, you might notice how her carefully crafted words tend to have dual meanings. These beautiful, heartwarming tributes are subtle, and I imagine reading the book cover to cover would make them easy to miss. But I began LLBH in its earliest stage. I read it slowly, a chapter at a time, and I was familiar with those little details that stood out to me like beacons.

So for me, it wasn’t so much what was on the page, but rather what was behind it. The parts that affected me the most may not even register with other readers. A yellow sundress is just a yellow sundress, after all.

I’m now on my third read. I don't want to let go and maybe I'm not supposed to. This book is holding me hostage.

“I’m not going anywhere,” it says, “and neither are you.”

I think I’m okay with that.

This is the second to a duet, so I don't want to say too much about the plot. It is a love triangle and deals with the repercussions of the two heroes joining the military at the end of book one. This one was even more emotional than book one and forced the characters to face the consequences of their actions. I loved the emotions! I did love the angst in book one, but this one explored more about the characters and what they wanted out of life and why they made the decisions they did. I feel like the characters definitely matured in this book and I really enjoyed the conclusion to this duet!

“Grief comes in waves…This is a wave. You’re underwater but it’ll pass.”

Finally!!!! I get to read the second book and finish this amazing book duet. And oh waaaw! I’m broken! Those two books broke my heart in the worst way possible! I’m not gonna talk about what’s this book about, because after the first book cliffhanger, it’s better to get into this one blind.

A love that ran deeper than friendship, deeper than family. A combat-tested bond that transcended blood and bone.
Soul mates.

This book is beautiful. Extraordinary beautiful. Emma Scott writing is so poetic and yeah...beautiful! This book broke my heart then managed -somehow- to put the pieces back together. It’s about beautiful people. Humans. Twice born people. Those who want to love and be loved in return. Those who fight. Who are broken. It’s a book about second chances. About forgiving. And about healing. This book would make you see beauty in people. I loved this duet so much. It was so heartbreaking. So poetic. And so beautiful.

Words I though were dead and gone but were still there.
Buried and faint, but still there.

I am in awe. Total and complete awe. This book, this story from the beginning of book one, these characters and this author have left me totally incapable of a single thought and yet I am trembling from the wash of emotions that I’m left with as I close the last page.

Ms. Scott let it be known that writing the blurb for this book was nearly impossible without spoilering it for the reader. It was also revealed that the same struggle existed when attempting to create teasers. So how, may I ask, am I to write a review without doing the very thing she, the artist of such amazing words, found difficult? And yet, even if that fear were not holding me back, there really are no words to express the beauty, the eloquence and the “magnificence” of this story and the journey these characters traveled to find their light at the end of the dark woods.

description

I can say that I fell deeper into love with these characters than what Bring Down the Stars had initially led me into. The depth of their innermost beings was completely laid bare in a way I can’t imagine one person splaying open their heart to another, especially when uncertainty of what will be returned is not assured.

description

I can say I have a greater appreciation for our service men and despite this story I know there is no way to ever truly know the struggles they face when they return home. I know that a medal, while a great honor and an outward symbol of our country’s appreciation, cannot erase the things they have seen and experienced.

description

I can also say that I too, as many before me, live with a Before and After. Never have I read a book – a romance - that explains in such simple and eye opening terms how to move forward after the After. And that scene, those words, were what resonated the most within me. This author gave words to the life I lived, the decisions I made, when I faced my own After. And I didn’t even realize it until now.

So, while I may not be able to quote my favorite line, or describe my favorite scene, or name my favorite character without spoiling it for the next reader, I can say with certainty that I went into this book expecting one thing and came out with so much more. Thank you Ms. Scott for your bravery in taking that first step into the woods.

Emma Scott knows how to move me with her words and storytelling. She excels with Long Live The Beautiful Hearts. Her prose is stronger and more poignant than ever. I was in another world while reading this extraordinary book.
I knew this Duet was special just from reading book 1 Bring Down The Stars. LLTBH reaffirmed my thoughts and also blew them away. This story like book 1 is filled with so much love, heartbreak and hope.

Autumn, Connor and Weston’s story gave me so much hope. It was really tough to get through at times but that’s all because of Emma Scott and her impeccable storytelling. She accomplished making me feel every emotion. Pretty incredible.
I was invested in all three of them. I cared about them. Wanted them to succeed. To not give up. Come out of the darkness stronger. Believing in life and in themselves.

The journey Autumn, Connor and Weston embark upon feels real and also why it moved me so much. Their journey encompasses every emotion and is captured beautifully. To perfection as a matter of fact. The love they have for one another is honest and pure. They were meant to be in each other’s lives and that’s also why the emotions in this book were so visual and struck a chord with me. It hurt so damn much and that’s why it was such a stunning reading experience.

This Duet is such a raw and emotional story of friends who love each other. Who loses hope not only in themselves but in one another. They fight back and reclaim their lives. Their new life cause what they’ve been through they could never go back.
Emma Scott has created a new epic masterpiece of a duet. Thank you.

6 “She did the impossible and truly brought down the stars to light our hearts afire” stars

This review will be absolutely spoiler free and so difficult to write!

How do I express why this book or rather this duet deserves 6 stars when I have to stay vague?

Well I am choosing to tell you what makes me give 5 stars even 6 stars to a book.

First of all books getting 5 stars or more are the ones that make me FEEL.
And God did I feel here!
I ended with a clogged nose, red eyes and an empty box of tissues. I had a slight headache as I read the book in one sitting.
Every 10 pages of so my eyes were leaking and I was sniffling on my couch.

I was happy to have a whole day at home to read and not on the train for once!

Second thing that makes me give so many stars: the characters.
They have to be exceptional. Not in I am a king or an actor or...no they can be the boy or girl next door but their personality has to shine. They have to either be as bright as the sun, either flawed and hurting. But they have to make me fall for them and want to fight their battles.
I won't say who is in the book aside Autumn. Autumn is a " safe bet" in this review and she was the sun, the moon and the stars as well. She will be brave. She will be selfless. She will be caring. And passionate.
Autumn is someone choosing love over hate because hating someone hurts her so much.

Third point to make me give 5 stars: the writing. If you follow me for some time now you must now that Emma Scott is one of my unicorn authors. In my top 3. Because her writing is simply gorgeous. She has a way with words that made me highlight nearly every sentence in this story.

Then there is the ability to broach hard and sensitive topics. To treat people seemingly less perfect or less conventional with fairness and respect. To open our eyes to some harsh realities. Or to teach me something be it a moral lesson or some new knowledge. Well that's what Emma did in here.

Last you have the plot. The element of surprise. This is not an epic action packed and turn and twists at every page. No this is a "I did not see that coming. And how will she make this work? How will she make this horrible fate be accepted by us readers? Loved even?" Kind of story.

So now you know that Long Live the Beautiful Heart is all that and more.

The duet is maybe the most powerful work of Emma Scott. Surpassing Full Tilt. At least equaling Forever Right Now. She did the impossible and truly brought down the stars to light our hearts afire.

READ THIS.

Long Live the Beautiful Hearts is the highly anticipated final part in Emma Scott's duet series #TheBeautifulHearts and boy what a powerful conclusion #allthehearts #allthelove #allthefeels.

Highly developed, complex relationships line the writing canvas in which the protagonists continue their epic dance of love, embracing heartache, forgiveness and friendship. A story of hope, a story of strength, and of fear, tragedy and forgiveness, a story of finding ones worth and emerging from inner demons that can rule your life. It unfolds with depth, sincerity and heart. I basked in the sheer quality of the storytelling during which my heart was fit to burst with the emotion I felt at the hands of Scott's characters, the friendships, the romance and the love. I cried sad tears and happy tears and tears just because it made me feel so much during moments where emotion reached exquisite heights because of the way the story had been intricately developed over both parts of this series.

I fear saying anything more may spoil a reader’s experience and in reality, nothing I say can truly depict the quality of this romance. It is, in reality, so much more than a romance and it most definitely is a novel that needs to be experienced with each turn of the page where each rich layer can be peeled away exposing an exquisite story that sees its characters convincingly deal with life. Poetic words took my breath away along with the beauty of the prose. Emma Scott is a powerhouse talent in the writing world. Her storytelling feels fresh and unique, and this series is firmly stamped with her own heart and soul and inspired by words from her daughter, making this a very, very special read.

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Type: Book 2 of 2 from Beautiful Hearts Series
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

Weston Turner and Connor Drake were best friends who always had each other’s back. When they both enlisted in the army, they knew the risks they’re willing to take. Autumn Caldwell cared for both of them but she was the one trapped in the middle and left to pick up the pieces.

I may have lied to her face but it was better than hurting her with the truth.

I love how this book tackled the subject of post war trauma in both physical and psychological form. It was sad to see how the characters had to cope from both sides of the situation. Their behaviors could be frustrating but understandable.

“Stay with him. And keep holding his hand, Autumn. No matter what happens. Don’t let go of him.”

What I loved the most about book 1 was the connection between the characters. However I felt that was lacking in this book due to certain situation that was not addressed thoroughly. The story direction was also predictable to me.

“These last few months have been the best of my life. You’re the reason I’m surviving.”

Long Live the Beautiful Hearts is the conclusion of Beautiful Hearts duet. It would appeal to readers looking for a story of rising up from the ashes.

FIVE +++++EXTRAORDINARY STARS*****

In all my years reading, and reviewing I never found myself speechless, like I am now. How can I possibly find words that can explain or even do justice to such a powerful story? Nothing I say could, nothing anyone says ever, could explain the beauty that is this book. The Beautiful Hearts Duet is simply transcendent.

Emma Scott has always had the power to make the reader feel her words, she transports you to the heart of the story, it’s something almost unbelievable. With this book it was more than that, I felt like she was holding my beating heart in her hands, and I was holding hers.

When I was reading the first book of this duet, I thought for a minute there that it was a love triangle, but understood better, and I assure you, it is not. This story is about love, family, and friendship. It's about accepting, and loving others and ourselves, for who we really are. It's about learning to forgive and to think about ways to be of help to those around us. Reading this book makes me want to be courageous and strong like Weston, kind and sweet like Autumn, bright like Connor, and even cheerful like Ruby. Every character in this story has a trait that I want to mimic, and ultimately why I wont be able to ever forget any of them.

I know this was not an easy book to write for Emma, and I can’t, and won’t be able to ever thank her enough for giving the world the gift, of what this book is. I live for beauty like this, inside this ugly world we all live in. And reading her words, feeling them, makes me want to be, and do better. THANK YOU! <3 <3

“She’s a miracle, actually. Every day with her is my best day.”

5+++ “Thank You for These Hearts” Stars

From the first page, I knew my heart was going to be ravaged. What I didn’t fully realize, that by the end of the story my heart would be completely healed. The story was beautifully tragic and beautifully wonderful. The gift of the author’s talented words made for a moving, emotional, deeply touching story of finding happiness and love against an inner turmoil of not following your own destiny and of shrouding your soul with an armor that does not let you move forward with life.

I do not want to spoil the story so what I’m going to say is...... This duet is about three souls who are intertwined with the good, the bad and the ugly of family, friendship, and love. The flawless, soul touching words that flow from this author’s heart is at times earth shattering as well as captivating enchantment.

—> Run, do not pass go, and get this duet. It will move you to feel many emotions. From happiness, to hurt, to anger, to love, to hate, to despair and to absolution.

This Duet will be a #MustRead and #AFavoriteOf2018

For lovers of Emma Scott, this duet exceeds any and all expectations of her brilliance in spite of her tragedy. I believe her strength to continue to write comes from her guardian angel that knows her mother’s words and stories need to be read by all.

And for those of you who haven’t experienced this author.....I employ you to read this duet and see #BeautifullyWonderfulWriting that will move you beyond measures for Emma Scott has an incredible gift of writing from the heart.

I have never cried so much reading a damn book!! The stack of tissues I had while reading this book was unbelievable, my heart is completely shattered!!! Whoever gave my mom the idea of reading this series, we can't be friends. My heart is broken, my eyes are puffy from sobbing like a baby, so thank you! Long Live The Beautiful Hearts is the second book in the Beautiful Hearts series written by Emma Scott. I went into this series completely blind, I recommend you do because it was just so jaw dropping!! My heart and mind need some time to process what I just read because they are both broken. I wish there was a book three, but I don't think I can handle that right now. If you read this series, don't come at me because your heart hurts, I'm sorry, because I felt all the pain as well. I cried way more during this book than I cried for the first one😭!!!

Still thinking about this book💔😭.... The tears just kept flowing out every time I picked up this book after stopping to control myself.

Weston and Connor are serving their country in the Middle East when they both get hit by bullets. Weston thought Connor was dead, and Connor thought Weston was dead. Weston took the brunt of the injuries. Connor saw a little boy lost in the desert and he knew he had to protect the little boy from the bullets, Weston looked around and saw what Connor was doing, as Connor's best friend Weston knew he had to protect him as well. Weston and Connor both came back home and started rehab at Walter Reed. Autumn gets an email from the army that there were injuries, and she couldn't think of anything other than Weston and Connor. Autumn meets them both at Walter Reed, but Weston is in induced coma, Connor leaves because he can't stand the sight of his best friend, Connor blames himself that this happened to Weston.

When Weston wakes up he pushes Autumn away because he doesn't want to hurt Autumn anymore than both of these men have already had. Truths start uncurling of who wrote Autumn these poems, Autumn has no idea who to trust anymore. When Autumn comes home one night too early she finds Connor walking out of the bathroom and Ruby is there. After reading this part I lost all respect for Ruby for going behind Autumn's back, and knowing all the truths and not telling Autumn anything. Truth comes out that Connor went to Italy where Ruby was staying, but he had no clue she was there. Ruby and Connor come back to Massachusetts where Autumn learns that Ruby and Connor are seeing each other. As Autumn's best friend I think Ruby should have been straight forward with her. At Walter Reed Connor breaks up with Autumn.

I'm going to stop this review right here before I start bawling again and spoil the whole story. So, all I have to say is that you absolutely need to read this series asap!! Thank you to those who read this review and for listening to my rant. HAVE A BOX OF TISSUES CLOSE BY!!! I'm just at a loss for words, the beginning of this story had me sobbing all morning, I just couldn't stop💔😭!!! The poems Weston wrote for Autumn hurt my heart but also made me smile. As much as this book hurt my heart I want a book three.

Continuing without interruption in the plot timeline, Long Live the Beautiful Hearts opens with the protagonists - Weston Turner, Connor Drake and Autumn Caldwell – facing difficult and serious issues. Knowing the longstanding demons Weston has faced, it affects how he processes loss. As for Connor, he continues to search for fulfillment.

“The heart hides itself behind the mind.”

Told in dual POV, the author’s narrative is one that delves into the character’s doubts and fears about love and self-worth. The brotherly bond between Weston and Connor is truly tested, as they sacrifice for each other to the point of losing all they know and love. With Amber playing an important role, she is a constant reminder to Weston and Connor of past mistakes and missed opportunities.

“But what I’m feeling right now… I can’t describe it except there’s nowhere else we’re supposed to be. Do you feel that to?”

In starting this book, I was extremely nervous for Weston and Connor because it was apparent that so much was at stake. Their connection is heartfelt and absolutely my favorite aspect of the book. After the plot moved to a point, the storyline unfolded an expected pattern and I was hoping for a bit more intensity given the situation. However, the theme of war and its consequences is extremely moving and is an important topic to bring forth awareness.

The Beautiful Hearts duet offers a poetic story about friendship and sacrifice that allows for moments of reflection to highlight the flaws and strengths of these characters. Emma Scott has created a world where nothing comes easy but the rewards seem greater due to the journey.

Bring Down the Stars - ★★★★★

How did I know that this book would mess with my heart? The ending of the last one set me up and I had no idea what was going to happen next. I just knew that my heart would never be the same. And it wasn't. But at least it didn't break me. This story may have wrung out every emotion I didn't even know I had in me, but it didn't break me. It was beautiful in its pain and stunning in its angst. Still not your typical love triangle but it had plenty of drama.

I don't even want to get into the plot of this one because it will spoil it for those who haven't started this journey yet. I don't want to give away what happens after the end of book one. Just know that it's hard. It's tough. It's heartbreaking. It's gorgeous. It's surprising and glorious and full of so much heart. The love that binds these characters together is something that should be shared amongst everyone. If we could all find family and friends and soulmates the way these people had, the world would have no choice but to be a better place.

Emma Scott gifted us a story that personifies romance. I cried and smiled and prayed for this woman who explained to her readers the understanding of 'Before' and 'After'. I'm grateful to this woman who got me to actually enjoy a story involving a love triangle.

Top Favorite Read of 2021

Bear with me for a moment...
...Just need to wait for my tears to subside, so I can type a review that comes close to conveying just how much I adored this story.

::Blows nose:: ::Wipes tears:: ::Cracks fingers::

Let's begin. 😉

I knew this book was something special when every single trusted reviewer friend gave it 5+ stars. I mean, just look at that rating. I think that pretty much speaks for itself. But throw in some Emma Scott angst, a kind of/sort of love triangle situation, and you have the masterpiece that is Long Live the Beautiful Hearts.

I won't waste time with a summary. This is the second book in a duet, and therefore should be read after Bring Down the Stars, so I won't even attempt to write something that could possibly spoil the plot. But what I will say is I thought I was emotionally invested in this story after book one, but book two was out-of-this-world amazing and totally intensified my connection to these characters, putting book one to shame.

This book will break your heart. There's just no way around it. But I promise, Emma will mend it with her beautiful, poetic words. While reading, I could feel her characters aching, but I could also feel them healing...

...Which brings me to my biggest reason for loving this book: Emma's note about Isabel at the very end. There is a before and an after aspect to the Beautiful Hearts duet, but there is also a before and an after in Emma's personal life. Once I read her note about her daughter, I knew why this book was so special...because it was her own way of aching and healing. She poured her heart and soul into these stories. She gave us, her readers, everything she possibly could in a time when she faced something no mother ever wants to face. Writing gives us the ability to release some of our sorrow instead of harboring it, and I'm honored to be one of the many readers who experienced Emma's journey towards healing through her books.

Best paired with Bitter Love by Pia Mia (seriously, this song is PERFECT for this book!) and recommended for fans of mended hearts and second chances.

I am so glad I finally finished this beautiful duet. I can now rest in peace knowing the ending.

At the end I awarded this book 4 stars. Because Autumn. When she finally found out the truth about Wes and Connor, she acted like a bitchy drama queen. All she focused was her own feeling and her hurt. She has no consideration of Wes's feeling where he suppressed his true feeling toward Autumn. To be honest I can sympathize with Wes. He is the real hero.

He made so many sacrifices for both Autumn and Connor. The 2 persons he loves the most. I also need more PTSD episodes to be able to connect with both Connor and Wes.
The writing is still good. I always love Miss Scott story telling. It is just she should make Autumn character more sympathetic.

4 stars
