Re-read: 12/4/19...Felt like reading through the whole series again...and ignore what I say in my "original" review below...I LOVE reading about Rock and Hope and could do it forever.

4 - 4.5 Boo Trilogy Stars

This was a 5-star read for me until about 75-80% in...where it then started to lose some steam.

And not the hot yummy sexy kind of steam, but the let's get this train all the way to the station steam.

description

Speaking of the "ending," it felt unfinished and kind of abrupt.

And that's when I turned the page and saw that this couple's "story" would be continued through not one, but two more books.

description

description

Jesus effin' Christ-ian Grey, seriously?

Come on man, is anyone else burned out on these couple trilogies?

description

Cause I sure as hell am.

But I digress.

About the book...

I really enjoyed Hope and Rock's story.

It was different in that Hope is married when they meet.

And not unhappily-married-to-an-asshole-thus-making-it-okay-to-cheat married, but happily-married-and-attracted-to-H-but-gonna-stay-faithful-because-I-still-love-my-husband married.

description

LOLZ.

I hope you're still following along because I think I just lost myself there.

But anyways.

Hope and Rock are super attracted to each other, but Hope is obviously hitched, so nothing happens.

Until something happens.

Not between them.

To Hope's husband, of course.

Because ROMANCE NOVEL.

But don't worry, we don't really get to know Hope's hubs well enough to get all that attached to him.

description

Or maybe we did, and it just didn't bother me...

Because:

description

After that, semi grief-stricken, but heartfelt romantic shenanigans ensue, which I enjoyed.

Until the end where, like I said, it gets a little monotonous until the whole "to be continued" dealio.

Not sure if I'm gonna read the next two or just jump to number four - which focuses on a different couple.

But all in all, a pretty solid read for me.

*4.5* A comfort re-read. One of the reasons I enjoy this series so much, as stated by the author in her notes at the end of the story:

As a woman and a writer, I’ve become mildly alarmed at how outright abuse and the disrespectful treatment of women has somehow become synonymous with an “alpha male” in a lot of romantic fiction today (not just MC Romances). It is possible for men to treat women—whether they be club whores or lawyers—like human beings and still be “tough.” The two things are not mutually exclusive.

******

Time for a re-read!
That sincere sweetness is what I have been looking for my whole damn life.
The characters grow and mature over this series and I find more to love when I go back and see them from the beginning.

What I loved about this one:
-Excellent supporting characters
-A MC story without cheating
-A hero that is celibate for a YEAR for the heroine
-A fmc who is so genuine and not a pushover

"I was playing with fire, and it was only a matter of time before one of us got burned."
description

Slow Burn is the first book in the Lost Kings MC Series. With complex characters, light action, and a beautiful love story this first installment captured my heart, and it's never letting go!

description

Hope Kendall is a successful lawyer living a moderately successful mundane life. She is married and works in family law. When the President of the Lost Kings MC, Rochlan "Rock" North ends up in the courtroom without a lawyer, Hope is called in to do the job. Rock is quite taken with Hope and despite his position in the MC, he decides that he wants to make Hope his. The only problem is that Hope isn't exactly available. Because she isn't a cheater, Rock must settle for keeping her in his life by getting her to work for the club.
"This woman was turning me into a crazy assed stalker."
description
"It's a fight not to crush my mouth against hers and carry her out of the bar comic-book-villain style."
When Hope continues to represent the men in the MC, she attracts the attention of a rival MC. Additionally, although Rock has tried to repress his feelings for Hope, he begins to obsess over being with her. The combination of Rock wanting Hope and that not being possible causes tension both physically and emotionally between the two. When Rock pushes Hope away to protect her, Hope takes a professional hit. However, when life deals Hope a fatal blow, Rock is ready, waiting, and more than willing to take care of her. As Rock and Hope come together, there is a beautiful dance of push and pull that made me smile, cry, and swoon the entire read!
"Besides her permanently in my life, I have no other wants. I need her in my arms, on my skin, in my bed, on my bike every second of every day. "
description
"Don't come any closer. You're like sexual crack. I can't think straight once you get your hands on me."
Told in dual POV, Slow Burn is an absolute crowd pleaser! The pacing was perfectly set with just enough action and suspense to keep me on my toes. The emotional connection between Rock and Hope was beautiful and full of love and tenderness. Although Rock is a tough and dominant MC President, his love for Hope is deep and full of tenderness. The physical connection between these two was smoking hot, and it was so fun to see these two "opposites" become one! The supporting characters enhanced the story nicely, and this is one MC that I cannot wait to explore. This is not a "hardcore" MC Romance but the story of two people who fall in love that is a part of an MC.
"...I've claimed you, you've claimed me. I'm yours as much as you are mine, I mean it. I don't want to be away from you for more than a second..."
description

Overall, Slow Burn is a must read for contemporary romance fans who love motorcycles, dominant men, and strong female characters. With light action and plenty of steam, Autumn Jones Lake blew me away with her smart writing and the beautiful moments she created between both Hope and Rock and the brothers of the LOKI will stay with me forever! I am completely taken with this series and now that I have discovered her work I will be devouring every word!

At first I looked at Slow Burn and said, oh great another MC Romance. But once I started it, I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN! That’s how into the story I got! I was up reading even though I had to be up early to go to work the next day, it was that good. I totally had a book hangover the next day and couldn’t stop thinking about Rock and Hope’s incredible love story. Both main characters have distinctive, voices that I absolutely fell in love with. Their slow burn of a relationship is incredible. It’s both sweet and off-the-charts sexy.

The heroine is likeable. She’s sweet but not too stupid to live. Her conflict and struggles are realistic and relatable. She’s a lawyer but not stuck up. She’s flawed, but you still can’t help but root for her.
Rock. OMG. I don’t even know where to start. I can’t remember loving a romance hero as much as I love him. He’s an unapologetic criminal, yet he’s an honorable man. He’s obsessed with Hope, yet respects her and treats her like a person instead of his plaything. He’s FUNNY! He has this wonderful wry humor, and is able to recognize when he is doing something that borders on creepy or outside of “normal”.

This is from one of my favorite scenes:
It would seriously suck if she spotted me. What the hell could I say, I decided to drop by for some legal advice? Oh, and by the way, I hacked into the DMV database to find out where you lived. Yeah, no creepiness there.

Rock’s protective of the women he feels he’s responsible for. Yes, it’s an MC book, so there’s a strip club, but instead of the usual demeaning, disgusting treatment you find in some of these books, Rock takes care of his girls. I found that very refreshing!

The next thing I adored about Slow Burn was the secondary characters. OMG, the author has created an amazing, well-rounded cast of characters, each with very distinctive personalities that I can’t wait to read more about! Wrath is by far my favorite and the author has said he will get his own book – I can not wait!!!

The author also went to a lot of trouble to create a rich, vivid MC world. It’s completely unique and unlike anything I’ve read before.
Slow Burn is AH-MAZING! Seriously, it should have cross-over appeal to regular contemporary romance readers as well as die-hard MC romance readers. I know people have been comparing it to the Crossfire Series and I think that’s a fair comparison. As I understand it, Rock and Hope’s story will span three books to set up the Lost Kings series. With that said, Slow Burn felt like a full, complete, satisfying story. There is no cliffhanger. It ends with a HFN ending. Book 2 comes out on December 2nd and I can’t wait to get my hands on it! I NEED MORE HOPE AND ROCK!!

FYI:
I received an ARC of Slow Burn in exchange for an honest review, but I plan to buy the paperback for my “absolute favorites” shelf!

4.5 Stars for me.
First time author for me. This author took the biker/MC sub-genre and breathed new life into the same old pattern being shown in many of the same genre newer releases. I loved the way the author developed the love between Hope and Rock. Rock is the President of the MC and is in court facing a misdemeanor charge of marijuana possession. Hope is a family law attorney who gets roped into representing Rock for the bail hearing. It's instant attraction for both of them. Hope is married at the time. The romance covers a two year period. Rock backs off pursuing Hope in respect for her marriage and thinks he will never possess her. But then her husband dies of natural causes (nothing related to Rock or the club) and she goes into a deep depression. Rock immediately stops his man-ho ways and becomes celibate because he decides to give her one year to grieve and then he's going after her. Ten months later, Hope's best friend searches Rock out because of her concern about Hope's decline. Rock then actively starts pursuing Hope. I loved Rock's character. He's strong but then he's soft/sweet with Hope. He understands her grief over her husband and never makes her feel bad or gets jealous. Hope is a strong woman but then she has her moments of weakness as she suffers the grief of losing her husband and the conflicting emotions. This is not a gritty MC romance where the club actions take center stage. It's more about true love, grieving and the sacrifices one is willing to make in the name of love.
I loved this story and it didn't hit any triggers for me but it has some triggers that I know some readers will not like at all.
1. Rock kisses Hope on their second meeting. The meeting is related to her continued representation of him in court. She's currently married. She participates in this kiss but tells Rock she will never break her marriage vows. I did not see this as cheating on her husband. Some readers will.
2. On the day of her husband's funeral Rock shows up at her house because of his concern about her. She asks him to take her for a ride and he does. No sex involved. Some readers will be very critical of this also. I had no problem with it. This is when Rock goes celibate and decides no more women until he can get Hope.

I'm looking forward to the next book in this series. It will continue Rock/Hope's story but don't think this book is a cliffy. It's not because there is a HFN and you're not left hanging.

ETA: Second book "Corrupting Cinderella" to be released 12/2/14. Be sure to read the Notes from the author at the end of book 1.

**some small spoilerish aspects are in this review (but very small)
Any 5 star read makes me happy add one with a hero like Rock and I am over the moon. One day while both in court on opposite sides of the law Rock and Hope meet. Seeing her in the courtroom Rock can't believe his eyes and when she opens her mouth he just likes her more. When his attorney doesn't show Rock gets Hope to help him, and then he doesn't want to let her go.

But Hope is married, happily married. Helping Rock is the answer to all the bills that keep stacking up, but the attraction Hope feels for Rock isn't anything she will ever do anything about. With Hope around all the time Rock finds it harder and harder not to fall for her, and when his MC life may put her in danger he does the only thing he can think of to keep her safe.

One year later and Rock still can't stop thinking of Hope, when he see's a notice in the paper that Hopes husband has died, Rock knows she will be devastated and though he couldn't have her he only ever wanted her happy. Hope never though she would be a widow so young and is devastated by her husbands death. When Rock shows back up in her life he offers her kindness and a distraction from all the pain and then he disappears again.

Hope is Rocks even if she doesn't know it so he sets his mind to give her a year. But the year has been hard for Hope and when her friend see's she hasn't gotten any better she steps in and calls Rock. Now Rock refuses to leave the woman he loves and will do all he can to keep her safe, and even if they come from complete different worlds Both Hope and Rock want this love they found when they never guessed they could have anything like this.

I hate reading books where a spouse dies and the hero or heroine is the OW/OM is a sense, because the spouse never gets over the death and I am left thinking that if the spouse was alive the hero or heroine would never stand a chance or worse that they are second, nothing about that says romance to me. This book didn't have that problem at all. I believed that even though Rock loved Hope in the end because he loved her he wanted her happy. I never thought while reading this book Hope won't ever love Rock and he will always be second. I believed in their love and I fell more in love with Rock the more love, kindness and care he showed Hope.

Rock was a great hero, hot, possessive, strong, caring are all what I think of when I was meeting Rock. Hope was smart and strong and I loved watching these two people meet and fall in love. This is a great romance and different which made it all the better and stand out even more. Slow burn is a perfect title because it describes Hope and Rocks love perfectly and shows us their journey. The side characters and the world Ms. Lake created was wonderful, and just sucked me in all the more into this story.

I can't wait for book two, though the next book in this series is about Rock and Hope this book does not end on a cliffhanger, their story just isn't complete. Autumn Jones Lake did something when she created Rock that most romance authors fail at or never try. She created a hero who was very strong and possessive but so very caring and strong for Hope. What he did and what he thought about for Hope made me fall head over heels in love with him. Hope was his and he was going to do what he had to to get her including getting himself set.

I can't recommend this book enough, its a stand out among so many MC romance books (which is one of my favorite genre's). Autumn Jone Lake is an author to watch and one I plan to read more books from in the future. I can't wait to get Rock and Hopes HEA, but I also hope she writes about some of the other club members as well as Hopes friends. This book easily surpasses 5 stars.

I love a good MC Romance. This far surpasses any MC Romance I've ever read. The MC world is beautifully crafted and feels "real" but the love story found here can be read by anyone who loves romance and a good story about people overcoming hardships to be together. The hero is hot, strong, possessive in all the sexiest book boyfriend ways.

I can't remember the last time I fell in love with the hero of a romance book the way I did Rock North. Wow. He's attracted to Hope from the get go, both her body and her mind. Everything he does from the day they meet is to keep her safe and happy, even though he can't have her for himself. Now THAT'S the definition of an alpha-hero to me!

Rock is the perfect hot alpha hero. He is possessive but respectful, strong, but gentle when it comes to Hope. He's also funny, in a bad-ass biker sort of way.

Hope is sweet, but smart. She's also very kind, which is one of the things Rock likes about her the most. Although she is crazy attracted to Rock (who wouldn't be!?) she doesn't act on it, so even though I wanted them to get together made me love her even more.

(Spoilerish)
Hope's grief and anguish over losing her husband felt real. She doesn't hop right in the sack with Rock the minute Clay dies. She suffers for a long time, so when she and Rock finally get together, it just made it all the sweeter. I wanted her to be happy. She earned it. Rock earns it too, by getting himself ready to be the man Hope needs.

Their journey as a couple is a long one. The author really explored how they come from two very different worlds: she is a lawyer and he is a criminal. But Hope is able to recognize he is so much more than that.

The book ends with a sweet, perfect, Happy for Now ending - there is no insta-love, these two still have a journey to travel and I can't wait to read the next installments! I also can't wait for future books about the rest of the MC brothers. The author states at the end that Wrath (one of my other favorite characters) will be Book 4. I can't wait to immerse myself in the world of the Lost Kings again!

I really enjoyed this one, much more than I had anticipated. There is something about this author's writing style that really pleases me. It makes me want to keep reading even though the plot was a tad predictable.

I just could not put this book down.

Curious to see what comes next, since there seem to be multiple books about this couple. For now... I am hooked ;)

STORY OF ROCK & HOPE

ROCK

HOPE

This was actually quite a refreshing change from the MC books I normally prefer. There was no instant sex,no violence and the men actually respected the women..
Hope is a married Lawyer,in court one day she is forced to represent Rock at a bail hearing. He is instantly smitten with her and while she is attracted to him,he backs of as she is married. He accepts this but keeps her close doing work for one of the Club members.
He tries to distance himself but cannot deny his fascination with her.A tragic event in her life sees him contacting her again briefly but he knows he must leave her alone..

This book is definitely a slow burner ( but in a good way )..it spans over a few years before they eventually get together.I LOVED Rock..he had the Bad Boy thing going on but was so patient and respectful of Hope and what she had been through. There is a bit of the Club business going on but the book primarily concentrates on Rock and Hope's relationship. There are some great secondary characters that I really look forward to reading about ( especially Wrath ).It ends in a good place but I am definitely interested in reading more of Rock and Hope's story.

If you enjoy MC books I would definitely recommend this....

A few things about Slow Burn and the Lost Kings MC series:

Slow Burn ends with a HFN ending not a cliffhanger.

Rock and Hope's story is ever-evolving throughout the entire Lost Kings MC series.

If you prefer standalones with sexy alpha heroes, where the couple's story is wrapped up in a neat and tight bow by the end, then the Lost Kings MC series might not be for you.

Um. Nope, this book was not for me. The writing was OK, and the story was so boring I almost fell asleep. I did not like Hope and I like Rochalan "Rock" even less.

I seriously love the possessive types. That's one of the most exciting part of an MC book, but the constant "my girl" had me banging my head. There was no chemistry between those two. Just that Rock was hot and sexy and Hope was hot and sexy. And it lost it's chance with me on the insta love at the 2nd page of the first chapter.

I kind of expected a lot of conflict, but my hopes were crushed under the feet of Yeti. The usual angst that accompanies an MC book was lacking. Hope loses her husband, but the author doesn't show them to have such a deep connection that she mourned him for a year. And what kind of love was it that she saw Rock and his muscles and his tats and his beautiful face, and completely forgot about her late husband? The occasional sniffling was just annoying rather than making me feel bad for her. Mostly because it was occasional.

And we keep hearing all about how smart she is. An example of her world class smartness: she gets drunk and goes home with a known criminal (someone she hasn't seen in a year, and who last had a conversation with her in a courtroom because he was being accused of possession), and passes out in his bed. Because criminals have such a high morals. Not saying that some don't, but most don't. In his club, where all his men walk around welcoming "debauchery" (no i am not using that word. Rock described them). And that is literally the best way to get gang raped because she is "hot" and "sexy" and everyone checked her "ass" out. (Even after she starved herself for a year, and looked no better than a skinny piece of mess. How these book heroins have the ability to maintain that ass and starve is beyond me. I gotta go back to school I guess)

Yup she was extremely smart. And I saw a unicorn fuck a tooth fairy last night when I was trying to invoke the demon of Annabelle to posses Justin Beiber, under my blanket.

See how ridiculous those two sentences sound?

I probably wouldn't have written such a long review, but then many women love the idea of an MC bad boy and get into a similar situation, except for getting a happily ever after, they end up being a prostitute. And also because I am an absolute bitch.

This book was just a waste of reading time.

It is no secret that I absolutely LOVE the biker romance genre...I have read so many different book series and have quite a few favorites...and having spent 25 years married to a man who was in an MC when I met him, I definitely have my own opinions on what makes for a great biker read.
This was one smart, well-written and wonderful book...I like a lot of maturity and intelligence in my biker books. Just because the genre is flooded with what I would term as "sensationalized biker porn" filled with insta-sex hook-ups, violent and torturous club wars and badass alpha males treating all the women like "bitches" doesn't mean they are all like that...and thank God for this new addition to my library because it was awesome!
When Hope is assigned the bail hearing case of Lost Kings president Rock, at the last minute in court, it begins a complicated and emotional relationship between them, that spans over a long period of time. It is "lust at first sight" for both of them but Hope was married, and being the honest and faithful woman that she was, it was not going to happen.
Slow Burn was the perfect title for this book, it describes exactly the process of what happens to their feelings for each other as they go from lawyer/client to lovers and I can't even express how exciting and steamy hot it was to witness.
Unlike so many other books out there, it starts with a kiss and ends with only a kiss for a long time...nature's course slowly moving at a realistic pace and with thought and honesty given to every move that is made between them. When Hope's world is shattered due to unexpected tragedy, it is Rock who steps in and does more for her with one simple ride than anyone else is able to do...and this after he had honorably walked away from her in respect to her marriage. What happens when these two finally give in to their long suppressed emotions (and after waiting a respectable time for Hope to be available again) is nothing short of glorious...this author can write some breath-takingly beautiful scenes and I needed a cold shower after reading that first encounter...hot, emotionally right on and sexy as hell...wow.
All of the dialogue was very realistic and the actions/reactions of the characters were not outrageous or unbelievable, but showed maturity and honesty...not once did I have to roll my eyes in disgust.
I can safely say this series has moved up to another one I will watch for and follow...I HATED this book to end!!
Fantastic book and thanks to a couple of authors who recommended it and to my friend Leslie for buying it for me =)

Being a huge MC Romance lover, and a lawyer, I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to see how two people, from such completely opposite sides of the track, might meet and fall in love. And boy, am I glad I did! I loved the chemistry between this unlikely duo! The writing is also excellent, and I enjoyed getting to meet the eclectic cast of secondary characters who will no doubt form the basis for future books in the Lost Kings MC series.

The last thing Hope Kendall envisioned when she walked into court for a civil matter was that she would have her arm twisted by the judge into representing a big, smooth talking, "sexy in the most obscene and dangerous way", biker on a small possession charge. When Rochlan "Rock" North, the President of the Lost Kings MC, insists on taking her to lunch to show his appreciation, Hope is left with no choice but to say yes.

To her surprise, it becomes instantly clear that she feels an attraction for Rock, one which is clearly mutual, but nonetheless can never happen. You see, not only is Hope a straight-laced girl, and Rock is well . . . a biker who runs a strip club, and clearly must deal in illegal things; but she is also happily married.

Never one to adhere strictly to rules, Rock would be willing to overlook the little fact of Hope's marriage to get his fix of the girl who has quickly become an obsession for him; but, in the end, when he realizes how committed she is to her ideals, he settles for having her as his MC's lawyer. That is, until danger strikes.

Then fate further intervenes, and all bets are off. Rock knows he is claiming Hope, and it is just a matter of time; but will Hope agree?

Wow, what a story! What in the beginning seems impossible, ends up being the only possible reality! I loved Rock's protective nature and how he admires Hope's intelligence, and is constantly trying to build her up. On the spectrum of MC romances, I would say this is on the lighter and sweeter side and definitely a great book, not just for MC romance lovers, but also for anyone who is thinking of trying this sub-genre. I look forward to continuing Rock's and Hope's story in Corrupting Cinderella!

I loved this book, and think I've met my new book boyfriend.
The hero is prez of a MC club, and the heroine a lawyer. Have I mentioned how much I like this type of story : Badass Alpha Biker pursuing Teacher/Librarian/Lawyer/Nurse..etc..etc.

The heroine is married ,at the start of the story ( not as weird, as it sounds ), when she loses her husband ( natural causes ) the hero waits for her, in a celibate state , no less!! for her to grieve.

He is determined without being an a**hole, and for me there was just the right amount of MC club grit.

I liked both the main characters, and would definitely be interested in reading the coming books in this series.

I don’t think I could have picked a better book by author Autumn Jones Lake to start on. Slow Burn isn’t your typical MC story. Of course, the violence, sexy and sinful sex is still there, but this story has so many other underlying emotions this story. Sure, good girls fall for the bad boys all the time. Yet, I can’t help but feel as if they’re forbidden romance is what set this book over the top for me. Let’s dive into the characters.

Hope is definitely not the kind of woman you’d ever think to see on the back of a badass biker’s ride. If you’d look in the dictionary for the word goody goody, I think you just might find her picture there. She’s a successful lawyer married to an equally successful engineer for many years. She cage has yet to be rattled by any temptation that comes her way that is.. until she’s asked to stand for a bail hearing for Rock, President of the Lost Kings MC who has a rap sheet a mile long.

The president of the Lost Kings MC, Rock, isn’t your typical MC kind of a guy. He respects as much as he can about the boundaries of Hope’s marriage. He instantly knows that she’s the kind of woman he needs in his life, but won’t step over the line to claim her. Even when her life becomes jeopardized as his legal representation, he knows that he has to hurt her to protect her. His obsession of her is pure MC romance, but his respect for her is what sets him apart from 90% of the other guys in a MC novel.

As most of you know, I’ll never give away a book secrets or spoilers. Outside of discussing the characters, that’s about all I can give you with this book. I will say that if you are an MC fan already or looking to break into a new genre then Slow Burn is definitely worth the read!

The author has done such a wonderful job with the story I really truly and honestly recommend this story for every romance lover and MC lover!!! It was so freaking amazing that I couldn't put it down and I was mad when the story ended I wanted more. I needed more. It's a hook line and sinker kind of story it will just absolutely hook you into wanting more. Hell I was able to read this in 1 hole day not even 1 complete day either. I loved it!!! Could this story be any hotter. Holy bikers of hottness. The author has really done an amazing job with the writing and making the story plot, it's a much softer version of MC romance that I'm sure everyone is use to.

Re-read 24th - 25th January 2021

I enjoyed this just as much the second time.

Original review.

Rochlan 'Rock' North is the president of the Lost Kings MC, he's a good president who runs a good club, he always puts the club first after all it's his family but the first time he sees Hope he's gone, he knows she's the one for him and after the life he's led the irony that's she's married is not lost on him.
The synopsis for this book is good so there's no point giving my usual summary I'll just let you know how I feel about it.
This is a very tame MC read and while I normally prefer mine a little gritty this worked for me, it's ultimately a romance and while there's the initial 'insta' attraction it's not rushed, we're allowed time to get to know the characters and get a feel for them and their personalities.
Both Rock and Hope are interesting, intelligent and likeable, there's no TSTL moments or silly misunderstandings that lead on to yet more misunderstandings, you know what I mean.
Rock is thoughtful and kind, he's not afraid to show how he feels and I loved that he treats women with respect, all women, he's old enough to be comfortable in his own skin and he is.
This book held me from the first page to the last although the ending was a bit of a non-ending this is the first book in this series and their story continues on in 'Corrupting Cinderella' which I'm starting as soon as I've finished this review.
So on the whole I loved this book but then I love romance and this is in my opinion a very good romance.
It also has some very strong secondary characters which should make the future books interesting, looks like this could be a very good series.
Why 4 stars and not 5....it's told in the first person plus Rock and Hope and while I love dual POVs it wasn't always clear who's POV we were getting it would have worked so much better, for me anyway just to have had the name at the side.

4 sexual crack stars...

Being a bada$$ biker addict I was excited to read Slow Burn. It's kinda like SOA in the way that the MC Prez is trying to keep their money making business as close to legal as possible. The other similarity is that the female lead is someone who has some skills that can benefit the club, this time it's law instead of medicine.

I was intrigued at the idea of the attraction between a couple at opposite ends of the law, it would be pretty difficult to bridge that gap, right? Well, if all it takes is chemistry they have that part covered. He's so sexy that even the bright orange jumpsuit and chains he was wearing in the courtroom didn't detract from his hotness.

And he felt the same way, she was the refrigerator to his magnet, he was drawn to her by a force he couldn't explain. But, even though they both felt the connection, there were obstacles preventing them from acting on those feelings.

I'm looking forward to reading more of their story in the next installment of the Lost King MC Series.

25% DNF.

I hate not finishing a book. Even if I end up skipping most of it, I’ll finish it. What I hate even more though, are cheaters.

Even though the author tried to make Hope seem like a good wife, which keept insisting that she doesn’t cheat, she failed miserably.
Doesn’t cheat, my ass, she cheated alright.
Maybe not physically, but mentally and emotionally she did.
For whoever doesn’t know, fucking someone is not the only way of cheating.

I already deleted the other books from this series.

Edit.

I just read a 1 star review from this book and I knew it! I knew to keep the facade of Hope that she doesn’t cheat, the husband would die.

I’m so disgusted. Thank the fuck I didn’t finish this piece of crap.

5 Gorgeous Rock Stars

This is the first book I have read by this author and I absolutely fell in love with the Lost Kings and Hope.
Such good writing and a really good idea for the story which caught my attention from the very start. This is such a popular genre in contemporary fiction that the divide between books that do it well and those that miss the mark is growing ever wider. This author does it very well.

Rock is just awesome. I loved the humour in his inner monologue and the self deprecation that surfaced. He is so in love with Hope and it shines through . He is a 'softer' badass than some MC Presidents I have read about but I liked that. It made a refreshing change. He is still very much an Alpha .
Hope is so lovely. She is the sort of girl you would choose as a friend. The chemistry between them is electric and builds and builds, yet there is such tenderness there too.
This is the first book and their story continues in Corrupting Cinderella so the ending is lovely and satisfying but leaves you itching to read more about these two and the other Lost Kings.....

2022 UPDATE
Rock and Hope's first book is a frequent 'go to ' comfort read for me. These two , along with Trinity and Wrath (who feature in this book and go on to have their own books) , are at the very top of my favourite book couples shelf.
Autumn Jones Lake weaves complete magic every time she writes and I adore the LOKI world she has created. If MC reads are not normally your thing , I would say you should give this one a try. It has a special something about it that hooked me in from the very start.
The audio book is narrated by Noelle Bridges and Troy Duran. His voice is incredible and gives me goose bumps...exactly how I imagine Rock sounding.

HEA? More HFN - their story continues in Corrupting Cinderella.
Cheating?

I was very lucky to receive a free copy of the book and I loved it it's it's well wrote and I'm looking forward to the next one I have No Spoilers in my review !!
This book is a great read it's a good length novel it's not your average MC book the female doesn't need rescuing she can think for her self and doesn't fall at his feet meet Alpha Rochlan "Rock" North bad boy biker president of the lost kings MC criminal ,outlaw he spots his soul mate in a crowded court room she's everything he's not she's wholesome sweet innocent and his attorney Kendall North they shouldn't want each other but they do but Rock is not a full on caveman when finding out his soulmate is happily married he backs of and craves her from afar but fate has a away of of changing plans and taking over ! There are some great lines in this book "I don't care who gobbles your knob Mr North" and " im so stupid you probably gave me cold sores" r just a few that made me laugh. This book has a solid MC structure with officers and prospects club girls and a clubhouse that has a Buddha statue the characters are well wrote and would like more Bricks and Wrath ,I found that the sex scenes were well wrote and not to OTT although there's some mention of sex at the clubhouse it's not all about how much sex is going on and there's not loads of graphic sex scenes just padding out the book, this also goes for violence I found that it was not graphic so this book would appeal to people who don't like the darker books it's a great read it's different and has some funny moments and I am looking forward to the next one..
