I kept looking at the sky, as I lost any will to move.
Before my eyes closed, my last thoughts were for Andrea.
They thought prison would change me, that isolation would make me weak, maybe break me. But I wasn't alone, I always had the darkness with me.
My name is Alejandro De la Crux and I never let anyone cross me without paying the price, their lives for my honour.
I was left to rot in prison by my ex wife and her lover, The Killer. That Rat.
They thought they could run away from me, that they could live happily ever after. No one can fool the devil, no one can fool Alejandro De la Crux.
“Patience, revenge takes time. But it will come, my time will come.
Note to reader: Scars is the sequel to Skins. Although the book can be read as a standalone, reading the prequel Skins is highly recommended to fully understand the characters and the series of events described in the story.
How foolish and small of me to think that this part (after SKINS) was going to deal with the “devil’s” redemption!!! 😲
A story from the villain’s pov!!!! 😱😱😱
“Strip her bare, destroy her hopes and dreams. Take it all away.” Alejandro
Obsession. Hatred. Revenge.
Alejandro De La Crux. El Diablo. Selling the best cocaine was his specialty and not only! Powerful, evil and manipulative. The villain. The monster.
His obsession with Andrea was unlimited. And uncontrollable. He took his time as to plan the epic revenge for his ex-wife, who she dared take their son and disappear with the amazing Sebastian.
“I am the devil lurking in the shadows. And the devil always comes to collect his possessions.” Alejandro
And did he come!!!
I felt EVERYTHING! The writing had so much anguish and passion that left me breathless. The characters felt alive and real. The mafia scenes were amazing. It was dark, twisted, engrossing, gripping, action packed. This story consumed me and I wish it had more chapters.
I have to admit that in this part there were a few holes too and some aspects could have been more developed and have more depth. Also, Alejandro’s last action was not justified. It was hasty and reckless. Throughout the story I was not convinced of him having any deep or other feelings for his son. Regardless, I devoured it!!!!
“Those scars tell me where I’ve been, what I’ve gone through and, no matter how deep the wounds, they didn’t kill me. I’m still alive.” Andrea
Nothing gets my heart racing like a good ol' Mafia story with a drop dead gorgeous & dark lover who lives and loves dangerously. This book and the entire series just speaks to my twisted heart in CAPS! This series just keeps on giving, doesn't it!!
Who knew Naples had so many hot Mafia villains who love viciously & govern ruthlessly. I think this is the best book of the series so far. Even though Alejandro De La Crux has hardly any redeemable shred of conscience, he somehow won me over. He loves with brutal intentions, but he loves nonetheless. "Love is the biggest leap of faith. It’s not rational, it’s not perfect and you wouldn’t want it any other way." He's a Predator who won't give up the prey still lodged in his jaws, and his tight hold is hurting the poor animal, and ironically he is completely and obsessively in love with his victim. So toying with it is his foreplay, drawing blood his fetish and tears of Andrea Szerov, his orgasmic bliss.
It's downright inhumane but who said love was easy, dammit!! On the other end is Sebastian, The Killer who has gracious, selfless love. He doesn't have riches or luxuries to offer Andrea except for freedom which she craves Their love fuels the blazing fire of vengeance in Alejandro's heart and this personal affront to his ego is not acceptable nor forgivable in his eyes "Tear the place down, rip the city apart. I was a waking human rage, a caged lion, pacing my cell day and night, restless and eager to run out and burn the world down, until I’d find them." The story has violence in every form written very skillfully in the yarn. Old memories juxtaposed with present happenings are stark in its bleakness and difference.
Rossi has acute knowledge of the Italian Mafia and nefarious underworld which she adeptly and thoroughly explains in the book She is fearless in her writing, leaving no stone unturned. She turns the plot on it's back to expose the ugly underbelly of the heinous world of drug runners and kingpins. It paints a Grim and dreadful picture but rossi manages to infuse enough romance and angst in it to make it a. Very engaging read. Pick up the series and indulge in the decadent Cruxes The ending will slay you, I swear..I burst out crying to my own surprise!! It was befitting but poignant nevertheless. On to read Crux now 4.5 stars for Sad Eyes #BookBistroBlogApproved Follow me on: [email protected] https://Twitter.com/BookBistro www.instagram.com/BookBistroBlog https://bookbistroblogger.blogspot.com/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/BookB...
An unhealthy obsession can only end one way and there is no redemption for a man walking a dark path.
Alejandro believes Andrea is his. She was his wife. His possession. When she chooses to escape him by following her heart Alejandro wants what is his. He will not stop until the darkness fills every space.
This is the sequel to Skins and needs to be read in order. Skins is Andreas escape. Scars is Alejandro’s downfall. It’s gritty, unpleasant and addictive. I look forward to reading the next instalment.
Oh my, oh my, what an emotional roller coaster this one was! I mean, I expected twistedness and cruelty from Alejandro, sure, but my poor heart was not equipped for all he put Andrea through, including using her kid as leverage to get what he wanted from her.
I thoroughly enjoied scars and it was a treat to be inside this mad man's head. Alejandro is oone twisted person and his actions are a mere reflection of what is going on in his sick brain. And yet he is a very fascinating character. The only pet peeve of mine in this book was the lengthy separation between hero and heroine. This is something that always gets to me in novels and I just HAD to keep turning pages, hoping to see Sebastian and Andrea reunited.
The ending was quite shocking and for a moment, I just wanted to scream: "You didn't". Thankfully the other didn't go thaaat dark. Fiu! Sorry, but I won't spoiler any more than that ;)
All in all, a great sequel to skins, which is the beginning of Andrea and Sebastian's romance. The POVs were well balanced and the narration flowed smoothly... and now I have a newfound desire to recluse myself on a Greek Island.

Scars: Sequel to Skins By: Laura Rossi 4.5 Sad Eyes Stars!!!
This was just what I needed in a second book. I dove head in and didn’t come up until the last page was turned. A couple parts, I was ready to hop on a plane to take care of the devil myself!
Obsession will consume a person! That is exactly what Alejandro has running through his veins. Obsession with Andrea. Sitting in prison, he had time…time to plan, time to think, time to allow the obsession to grow even deeper into his veins.
The time has come for Alejandro to take back what belongs to him!!
My goodness, this story was one that sucked me in! Although these two books can be read as standalones, I HIGHLY suggest reading Skins and then Scars. You need to capture the full story.
You absolutely need to read Skins before jumping into Scars to fully appreciate the story and everything that is happening without spoilers. Alejandro is a man that when you think he’s gotten as vicious as he can be he will push things to a whole new level. My heart absolutely breaks for both Andrea and Sebastian, their journey both together and separate had me holding my breath and heart racing more often then not throughout this book. This is not an easy read at times, the emotional turns go deep and hit hard. I was hooked yet again with the authors writing style and could visualize the characters in front of me. Phenomenal story that I highly recommend. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Scars by Laura Rossie is book Two in the De La Crux Famiglia Series. This continues the story of Andrea, Sebastian and Alejandro. This first book 'Skins' must be read before reading this book. Alejandro is still wanting to keep Andrea and working to do that. Sebastian is showing how much he can love I felt. I can't wait to read more in this series.
What another fab book from this author. I was hoping for big things from it, this being the sequel to Skins which set the precedent really.
I am even more in love with Sebastian. He’s the kind of guy who not only looks good but is actually interesting. His personality is akin to a best friend and a lover all rolled into one. I mean I don’t believe in soulmates (no correction, I do. I have just never found my own) but that’s as close as a description to what I can describe Sebastian and Andreas relationship, love, life etc.
And then, the baddy in the first book Alejandro literally just blows on through with his own book. I mean talk about explosion. Here’s a baddy after my own heart BUT, I was a little disappointed in his character if truth be told. I wanted to love AND hate him, but I didn’t feel either for him. I wanted him to be redeemable but that never really came about. I get that he is this big bad ass but for a character like him to have his own story, for us readers to go a long with his journey and not have him be redeemable was just heartbreaking for me. Actually you know I really wanted him to either redeem himself, meet a woman that fits him or have a completely disastrous ending. That’s how I felt about him. I wanted it black or white.
I will tell you one thing though about this author that I’ve noticed over the several books I have read from her and that is that her writing has vastly improved. This is her niche. She’s an author who has a penchant for writing the dark. It suits her. She suits the nitty gritty and not the flowery romance that we see in some books today. You can tell the difference between her romantic and her dark romance and I for one am excited to see if she takes it in this direction more. That’s not to say that she can’t write sweet romance but her forte definitely lies in the darkness.
Highly recommend this book though. Another cracking read.
"Sunlight pours through the windows, hitting him like Heaven shining a spotlight on one of it's saints."
You know how in the horror movies, the couple ends up escaping to live out their HEA, only to return in the sequel to find the monster waiting to seek revenge? That's what I discovered in Scars, after devouring the previous Skins, which I also gave 5 stars. Intense, gut-wrenching, kindle-gripping, breath-taking suspense, action, with a beautiful love interwoven in to really make for a fabulous read.
"Andrea Sezerov, the goddess in the cafe. My woman, my obsession, my downfall."
I loved the multiple POV featuring all three characters, and the Author did it seamlessly and you always were clear on who was speaking. You got to delve into the mind of the monster, the damsel in distress, and the hero rushing to save the day all at once!!! It was an amazing reading experience!! I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!!
"But Sebastian wasn't just any man. He was my rock, the 'light of my night', the one and only, brave enough to lead me out of the dark."
This book was absolutely AMAZING!! First of all I felt like I was dying so much in this book! So much pain I felt. It was so sad and I was getting so ANGRY!! I wanted so badly to jump in there and stab Alejandro over and over! Sebastian and Andrea has already been through so much and then this. They are both so strong and my little Eddy! My baby!!! I was NOT expecting what came towards the end! I was floored! The fact that Alejandro had a voice in this book was amazing. You always wonder what goes on inside the mind of the bad guy and at first I thought he was going to redeem himself and find the love he was meant to have but I was completely mistaken and he was definitely El Diablo!! Ugh! I’m so thankful after that wild ride that we got an HEA! OMG so many times I thought there wasn’t going to be one! Thank you so much Laura Rossi for not sticking that last knife into me! I would e cried for days! Beautiful story!
He gasped for air and counted his last breaths. One, pain shot up his stomach. Two, his throat burned. He kept looking at the sky as he lost any will to move. Before his eyes closed, his last thoughts were for Andrea. They thought prison would change him, that isolation would make him weak, maybe break him. But he wasn't alone, he always had the darkness with him. His name is Alejandro De la Crux, and he never let anyone cross him without paying the price, their lives for my honor. He was left to rot in prison by his ex-wife and her lover, The Killer. That Rat. They thought they could run away from him, that they could live happily ever after. No one can fool the devil. No one can fool Alejandro De la Crux. “Patience, revenge takes time. But it will come, my time will come.
Scars is the sequel to Skins. Although the book can be read as a standalone, reading the prequel Skins is highly recommended to fully understand the characters and the series of events described in the story.
Another thrilling adrenaline rush, told with passion and care. Mrs. Rossi writes with knowledge and dedication. The different characters were written in pure detail whether they were evil or good. This story is told from the bad guy's POV, but I fell just as hard. I fell down this twisted rabbit hole, and the plot held me captive till the end. I highly recommend this read. This is my honest opinion, freely given.
After readings Skins, I couldn't wait to dive into Scars. This book did not disappoint! I’m completely mind blown with this story-line. There was so much suspense. I felt every emotion possible while reading this book. I thought I loved Sebastian before, boy was I in for it – I’m totally head over heels in love with him now. He’s the total package. Andrea was the ultimate fighter, mother, and protector. Alejandro continued to be a monster, at the end he got what he deserved. I highly recommend this book if you’re looking to read a dark, twisted, and bloody book!
Have you ever been afraid of the monsters under your bed? How about the ones in your head? You know, the ones that taunt you into doing things...bad things. Alejandro knows them. He talks with them. He even listens to them. Andrea is all he wants. All he can think of. Yet, he knows the pitfalls of a want...need like the one he has for her. Some would say, it’s inevitable. A few would say, it’s destiny.
I say, it’s fate. Because I’m the one person that can keep them apart. I’m the monster in the dark and Alejandro has the fight of his life on his hands. Andrea...is MINE.
What can I say about this amazing new book by Laura Rossi? It is a heart-wrenching journey of a woman and her son who were prisoners in a loveless relationship who ran away with the only man who could keep them safe.
I was unsure as to what I would find when I opened my Kindle and “Scars” appeared on the screen. I had a feeling I was about to read a book that would stay with me forever and I was correct in my assumption. Alejandro is an evil, powerful and sick man who knew the minute he first saw Andrea that he would claim her and make her his. She was a naive waitress in a cafe who caught the eye of a delusional man. He tricked her into falling for him and she was his, until he became jealous of all the attention she received. His obsession with her took over his life and he destroyed anyone who looked at her the wrong way. Being in prison only made him stronger and more determined to find Andrea, and punish her for thinking she could ever keep his son away from him.
Andrea had never been scared of Alejandro because she refused to let him control her. He may be a powerful man but he had no power over her because she needed to be strong for her son, so she could protect him from the darkness that surrounded them. Even though he tormented her, he did not own her and she refused to give in to his demands. She never thought about falling in love or trusting someone again after what she had been through. Sebastian was her soulmate and when Alejandro hired him to be her bodyguard all those years ago she knew that in time, he would fight for her and help her break free from the prison she was in.
Laura Rossi is a brilliant and passionate author who writes from her heart and every word, sentence and paragraph will leave you turning the pages as fast as you can because you have become part of the story. You can feel the pain and suffering of all the characters and you hope that in the end, love will prevail. Thank you, Laura, for giving us a beautiful and exquisite story that will captivate everyone who has the pleasure of reading it.
oH HOLY CAT SPIT !!! My head and heart is still inside the pages of this book and with Sebastion and Andrea !! I couldn't wait to dive into this because having read the last book, and the events and journey it took me, made reading this book inevitable and ever so necessary!! Sebastion and Andrea are now living a simple happy life with their son, having stolen her from the clutches of her sadistic, malicious, abusive Husband Alejandro !!Oh how i hated that man !! Sebastion is just drool worthy from beginning to end, now don't get me wrong, he's the most loving, caring man, but he's definitely not a man that is averse to the dark side, and will happily end anyone's life who threatens those he loves or his family! OMG and we find out just how vengeful he can be, how smart he can be, and how ruthless he can be, when that ugly excuse for a human being Alejandro shows up again to take his revenge on Andrea and to finish Sebastion !! I seriously wanted to claw that mans eyes out ! The cruelty within his sorry soul left me itching with anger, The bravery and guts within Andrea left me hugely in awe at this ladies strength and her love and protection for her son, despite the abuse and torment she suffered each and every day !!! This book kept me biting my nails, shouting expletives at my kindle and on edge from beginning to end. My emotions were in uproar, from mushy puddles of goo one minute to wanting to be a warrior to destroy those who dared to hurt my hero's the next! An absolute roller coasters of emotions from beginning to end and i couldn't get enough !! The build up just becomes more intense throughout the book and i still didn't want it to end !! Ahhh that end twist almost finished me, my heart was left in pieces, but it also got repaired in the best possible way !! Brilliant Read!
"As children they tell us monsters aren't real, then we grow up and smell the lie. They are, they are everywhere and they come back looking for you. They always do."
You know, there are few books that leave me absolutely reeling. Ones, that when I'm done, leave me sitting there, jaw slack, wondering how I even survived to the end. Ones that don't leave my mind, even days later. Well, this one has made the top of that list! This. Book. Is. Amazing!
Andrea Szerov had made it. She escaped the devil and lived to tell about it. Now, with her husband Sebastian and their son, she is able to relax at last. New life, new country, new name, and the monster behind bars. One phone call sends her right back in to the nightmare. There was no choice. She survived once. Can she survive him again, or is death the only way out this time?
Alejandro De LaCrux is the devil. El Diablo. For years he's had nothing but time. Time to think. Time to obsess. Time to plan. Andrea is his and always will be. He's coming for her, and the rat that dared to take her from him. They'll never see him coming. Don't they know that crossing the devil only gets you burned?
I can't say enough how amazing this book is! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time! I could feel the anguish, fear and pain that Andrea was feeling. I could feel the desperation and fear that Sebastian was going through. I have never loved hating a character as much as I hated Alejandro. A lot of times, I hope for the redemption of the antagonist - not this time. He was portrayed perfectly as the ruthless, intimidating, powerful drug lord he was, and I wanted nothing more than to end him myself!! There are triggers in this story - verbal, emotional and physical abuse, kidnapping, violence. It's a dark read for sure, but I dare say this is one of the best books I've read in some time!
This is the sequel to Skins; which not only did I rate 5 stars but also was one of my top reads of 2018 so far; I did not expect Scars to rival that position, but it does.
I'm going to try so hard to write this review without giving anything away.
Scars is written in 3 different POV’s; Andrea, Sebastian and Alejandro; it's perfectly clear who's POV you're reading and when. The 3-person POV works extremely well in the book as it allows us into the mind of each character. It allows us to understand the thoughts and feelings of each of them. Scars gives us an insight into the mind of an obsessive monster; Alejandro, as well as the intelligent and protective minds of Andrea and Sebastian.
These characters have grown and developed so much they are so intense and complex, just when you think you know them they show yet another side or layer. With each of these new layers, I found myself loving or hating them more.
The emotion in this book is palpable, and it's not just the emotion from the characters but the emotion that Laura Rossi has put into her writing. More than once I found I was either holding my breath or my heart was pounding, I also found myself extremely close to tears.
Laura Rossi's writing style is incredibly clear and shows her natural talent for writing a darker more twisted story, although I haven't yet read her other work. The way Laura Rossi switches from one POV to the other seems effortless and seamless. The characters had already worked their way under my skin after reading Skins, now they are firmly in my heart.
Overall this book is amazing, however, you MUST read Skins first!!
If you want an intricately woven web of intense, gripping, gut-wrenching, breathtaking suspense, with action and an epic tale of love then this is the book; well 2 books for you!
I was given this book in turn for an honest review.
With isolation comes the darkness and the darkness was Alejandro’s friend. It understood him, it helped him, it kept him alive. Alejandro wants revenge and he will stop at nothing to get it.
Scars is not for the faint hearted; this story is full of wickedly, evil moments. Alejandro is twisted, vindictive, malicious, and will stop at nothing to get what he wants, what he believes he is entitled too, to seek revenge for those who have dared to cross him. When I thought it wasn’t possible to dislike someone anymore than I already did, Laura Rossi showed me how wrong I was, Alejandro was more than evil, he was the dark devil himself, and my dislike turned into pure hatred.
Laura Rossi completely blew me away with Scars. I love how she can create a story that has you guessing throughout as to the direction it will take. At one point I wondered how evil she could go; wondering if she would break me and shatter my heart. The twists and turns this fascinating, story took, were outstanding; Laura Rossi pulled out all the stops and created another masterpiece.
This story is powerful both mentally and emotionally, Laura Rossi knows how to put the reader through one hell of a rollercoaster ride. Scars has me wanting to go back and read Skins again; Sebastian and Andrea, their strength, their fight, their love, I want to experience it all from the beginning once again. This is one of my top reads of the summer without a doubt.
Scars can be read as a standalone, however, to fully understand and enjoy the story I recommend reading Skins first. If you’re looking for something dark, twisted, evil, powerful and emotionally captivating, Scars has it all.
You need to read Skins before you take on the dark adventure of Scars.
"One word, a thousand lies and when the moment of truth comes, everything changes and there's no going back. We never see the storm coming, we are never really ready to face the truth, the changes." -Sebastian.
Only a couple of pages in, and the suspense is killing me! Scars, what an amazingly written story. This author knows how to build up the suspense! I think it's the authors best work thus far, for sure! I thought it was an epic love story. A story worthy to be a movie!
"My biggest regret, my biggest mistake, he was back." -Andrea.
Alejandro De La Crux...what can I say? He is hell bent on getting his revenge on Andrea and Sebastian. And getting his son back! He will stop at nothing, he will do whatever it takes to destroy his enemies!
Andrea is living in constant fear, but eventually times flies by, and she stops looking over her shoulder. Would you break? What are you willing to do, to not break? What are you willing to sacrifice for your child?
Yes, Scars is a dark and twisted story. But it's also a story about what a mother are willing to do, to keep her son safe from the devil!
"- No matter how big the storm, I always find my way home. I always find my way to you." -Sebastian.
Laura has done an amazing job entering the mind of a blood hungry mob killer, I'm in awe of your talent, I wanted to dive into the kindle and take Alejandro out myself, protect Andrea, Eddy and Sebastian they stayed safe. This book is dark, twisted and absolutely brilliant. What a conclusion to a story. There's love, passion, hatred, scheming, violence, and lots of bloodshed in this book, so be prepared to be taken on a violent passionate page turning ride.
SOME SPOILERS
Andrea, Sebastian & Eddy have lived through an hell nobody should have to go through at the hands of her ex-husband. When they think they are sailing calmer seas their world comes crashing down around them at the hands of Alejandro De La Crux he is the Devil reincarnated and he will stop at nothing to get what he wants, and what he wants is revenge, power, his son and his Andrea. Sebastian is a man on a mission and that mission the love of his life Andrea & his Eddy, his life means zero to him without them. The Killer make a return and he will do anything to keep them safe and alive, even if it means dying himself.
Will they get an HEA? Or is it just too late, for them all?
I always seem to find myself rating Laura's books straight down the middle. They dont ever really have me turning page after page until i realise there's no more, or look at the time amd realise I've got to be up in a few hours. But having said that she is still one of my go to authors. There is a little je ne sais quoi about her stories that always leave me wanting more.
Scars is the second time we meet these characters. Reading Skins would be a tremendous help in understanding the back story but Laura has done a stirling job in reiterating the most important points, so it's not imperative.
For me there were plenty of peaks and troughs throughout the story in terms of tempo and my enjoyment level. I must say the last 20-30% was pretty intense and had me really hooked. Again, another humdinger of a twist and a few moments my hands shot to the mouth to hold my gasp in.
In my review for Skins i mentioned that the characters were a bit blah but Im really happy to note that more of the feisty woman come out to play in Andrea this time and the men in her life are both extra spicy, packing punches throughout.
"Oh my heart, you're my heart. You were my first love and you'll be my last."
This book was so good I couldn't put it down and was up till 2.30am to finish it. I feel that I felt every emotion as these these characters went through them. I felt scared for Andrea and also for Ana when Alejandro vented his wrath on her. Ana bore the brunt of it until he finally got his obsession back in his possession and under his control. Alejandro is one sick, twisted man who cares for no one and nothing. All that keeps him going is his blinding obsession with his ex-wife and his hatred for Sebastian, the killer, the man who dared to take what was his. But Sebastian is a man who will stop at nothing to protect what is his. This is an author to watch out for. Her books just keep on getting better with each new release. An amazing job and I really can't wait to see what she has for us next. Definitely on my one click list. If you like dark and twisted then this is a book for you. If I could give it more than five stars I would because to me, this story is definitely worth more.
Rossi really pulled me in with Skins, the Prequel to Scars, I was literally captivated with the story, and then she goes and writes SCARS!! Rossi pulls you in with this dark, tortured and sadistic story of Sabastian and Andrea. Just when you thought they have been through everything imaginable to be together, Rossi throws everything at them, in the form of Alejandro De LaCrux. Alejandro is ruthless, his the monster which Andrea fears above anything, he's the type of man that will go to any lengths to regain what he thinks is his...Andrea. SCARS is a heart wrenching read, and emotionally it pulls you in, in every aspect. I simply cant praise either book enough, SCARS & SKINS are by far the best books I have read this year. I have said it before and I will say it again... This story stays with you long after you have finished reading, I cant wait to see what Laura Rossi throws at us next
Omg. 5+ Stars. This story grips you from page one. It’s dark, sinister, and overwhelming in how it pulls you in. The devil has come for her and nobody can stop him.
I love dark reads but this one is definitely on the top of my list. Andrea, Sebastian, and Eddy are in hiding. With their past still searching to extract his revenge and take back what’s his, they can be non too careful.
The Devil will stop at nothing to have his wife and son back. Being the lord of drugs and trafficking in Italy, he’s taking each city by storm just as he plans to take over Andrea’s mind, body, and soul. She’s his and there is no escaping him.
There’s love, hate, mafia business, and heart breaking realities for each character as we are pulled into the dark underworld of the mafia business with the king, the devil as he and Andrea are at odds. Pick this book up because I promise you won’t regret it.
I have loved and admired this authors writing since I picked up my very first book by her and after reading and loving Skins I couldn’t wait to start Scars and I was not disappointed! Over all the books that I have read I can see such a huge shift in Laura Rossi’s writing, she is absolutely one of my go to authors. I loved every second of this book, the twists, the turns, the emotion, everything about it kept my interest from beginning to end. I think I love Sebastian more now than I did at the end of the first book! There was just so much to love about this story and it is definitely one of my favourites (although I love all of Laura’s books!) this book just totally grabbed me and wouldn’t let go until the end and even then I didn’t want it to be over! If you are looking for a dark, gritty read then I absolutely recommend Scars! Well done Laura on another fantastic read! I can’t wait to see what’s next from you!!
Wow, what a book!!! I did not read the first book of this series "Skins: as many have said you must I found it still captivating and totally a wonderful story. What one woman can go through is save her son is just amazing and to endure the pain and effect of abuse at the hands of a monster. This book will take you on a heart-wrenching journey of suspense as Alejandro De La Crux seeks revenge on Andrea and Sebastian. I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest and voluntary review of it. If you are interested in reading this book I would do as the others have suggested and read the first one first as you will get more of the backstory and learn how Andrea found her soulmate Sabastian while married to the King of the Drug world Alejandro. The suspense that will have you hooked to the very end and what an end it will be!!!
Although I wish I could tell you that this story is a standalone, I don’t fell like it is. Skins should be read prior to Scars. Scars starts up with an all new chapter for Andrea, Sebastian and Alejandro.
It was quite an adventure, a dark one that’s for sure. An original storyline that never let up. If your looking for a cute low key book, this is not for you. It’s dark, rough and full of despair. But there is a promise with an HEA. I recommend these 2 books to be read in order for better enjoyment.
I have been lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book in return for an honest review. I thoroughly enjoyed the prequel to Scars, Skins, and was left wanting to know how the journey for Andrea and Sebastian continued. I wasn’t disappointed. Alejandro, Andrea’s husband, was in prison and his need for vengeance against Andrea and Sebastian had no bounds. The journey in this book is very dark and it has your feelings spilling over, trying to understand the mind of such an evil, twisted monster. You go through many emotions on this rollercoaster ride but trust me, it is well worth the ride. Loved the ending but will say no more, because I don’t want to spoil the story for you. Beautifully written, this talented lady gets better with each story she produces.
This is the sequel to skins, and if I'm honest this book was going to have to be spectacular to follow that. I loved skins, I loved everything about it. Then We come to scars. How to you read about a character you despise? Well, let's just say that Alejandro didn't redeem himself, if anything he just made me hate him more. He has to be up for some award for villain of the year.
Sebastian is still my hero. I loved his character and everything he stands for. That love and determination shine through in this book.
As always, the end was gripping. This book didn't leave my heart in my mouth like the first, but it was good to see how Andrea, Sebastian and Eddy get on.
