Ambitious intern Ashton Bailey is about to get closer to her dream of being a sports announcer. All she has to do is prove that too-perfect-to-be-true NFL quarterback Evan Dawson isn’t quite as wholesome as his contract requires. It’s also the perfect opportunity to get delicious payback on the boy who broke her teenage heart. At least that’s her plan. But she forgot just how easy it is to crush on the irresistible charmer. #OhNoNotAgain.
Evan has a knack for getting through the opposing team’s defenses, and he won’t let this tall, redheaded knockout be the exception. He’s determined to make things right between them and earn back Ashton’s trust—and maybe her heart, too.
Then the press mistakenly announces their engagement, and Ashton and Evan find themselves going along with the lie. Now the whole world is watching as Ashton flirts with attraction and disaster. But while revenge is sweet, it just might come at the cost of something sweeter still.
I have really enjoyed this series, it's loads of fun and packed with swoony romance. I didn't even read the synopsis before diving into this one, I can always trust that I'll love whatever Ms Wilson writes and sometimes it's just fun to jump in without knowing what's going to happen.
Ashton and Evan have a history together, one that Ashton is not quite ready to forgive or forget. Their past adds a fun element and chemistry to the story. I thought Ashton and Evan were really cute together, lots of tension and chemistry. I love stories where its not all about the attraction though, and in this we really see a friendship grow. This was my second time reading #Awestruck and I enjoyed it just as much this time around.
Content Rated PG Kissing. Talk of sex, waiting for marriage, mild innuendo. No language or violence
H is a famous football player who is still a VIRGIN. The h is on a mission to prove that he isn’t. Lol. Unbelievable but still quite an interesting plot.
The h wants to become a Sports Announcer. She has got a golden chance of become one, but for that she has to expose a famous football player, the H, that he is not a virgin as he claims to be. He turns out her highschool crush, who broke her teenage heart. So she thinks this is a golden chance as she can get her revenge.
“He broke my heart. Publicly humiliated me at school. I’ve been waiting ten years to pay him back. If anyone wants to see Evan Dawson brought down a peg or two, it’s me.”
After seeing the h after so many years, the H is totally smitten by her. He is everywhere she is and flirting with her, apologising about what happened in high school.
But I didn’t understand the H’s obsession with his virginity.
“Sounds good to me. I’d love to go home with you.” “Oh please. Mr. Chastity Belt himself wants to go home with me?” “I didn’t say anything would happen. I may flirt, but that’s as far as things would go.”
Really? He is explaining himself ? He flirts with her but assuring her that he doesn’t want to lose his virginity. It all sounds so stupid to me.
WOw! You know what is crazy! I thought this author wasn't so great a couple years ago and now I can't get enough of her books! I have loved this LoveStruck series!!!!! This was so much fun! I enjoyed reading every part of this one. I love how real Ashton was, I could totally see my younger self doing something similar. She makes a massive mistake but it's so true to life. We all allow our ego and fear to make decisions for us and it always backfires. I loved Evan! Geeeezzzz he was great but even he had to learn the hard way. I love that someone is actually writing books about waiting to have Sex till you are married and the fact that it is possible if you are careful and make a commitment. It is real this does happen and I love that someone is telling this side of the story. This is an older teen read. They do talk about abstaining from sex but it is lighter then the first two books in this series. I would let me 17 year old read this one. 7-2021- reread cause it just so dang good. Nothing else is satisfy me right now so I am rereading my old favs.
I've been so anxious to read this book but I've been holding off, waiting to get closer to release day. It's been so hard to wait, especially when my book friends have been reading it and loving it. Well, I just couldn't wait any longer. This book doesn't release until Jan 8th but that's only a few days away, right?
I have yet to meet a Sariah Wilson book I didn't like. Her books are easy to fall into, with clear characters full personality and humanity. They make mistakes, they learn and they love. I love the banter and the zingy attraction that always fills the pages and translates directly to my tummy butterflies and my heart.
Ashton is out to get Evan. Poor guy doesn't even see her coming! But thankfully Evan is one strong and determined man. He breaks through Ashton's defenses like a boss. I loved every interaction between Ashton and Evan.
This was a book I didn't want to put down. It was fun and provided the perfect romantic escape. I loved it!
I'm going to be completely honest... this book was hard for me to get into at first. I was not connecting with Ashton. I thought she was selfish and would do anything to get her ahead in her career, not caring who she hurt in the process.
But then we find out what happened to her in high school and it started making sense. But I still wasn't connecting with her. It wasn't until she started questioning what she was doing that I actually started warming up to her. I guess I didn't like that she was so bent on bringing Evan down! Haha.
But I ended up really enjoying this book. Evan was such an amazing hero! I think he made the entire book for me! I loved the banter back and forth between the two of them. And those kisses! Those babies were sizzling! My only complaint was that the book just ended! I hate it when that happens! Haha.
#Awestruck was a fun addition to this series! This is definitely one of my favorite series! I'm looking forward to reading more by Sariah Wilson! :)
Sariah Wilson is a go to author for me, especially this series. I've read all three and have enjoyed them. Each time she announces a new book in this series, I get pretty excited! These are full of fun moments, laugh out loud moments, cringe worthy moments (because of something the characters do of course, those open mouth, insert foot moments that we all know about and have probably experienced too many times), very swoony moments, and moments of happy and contented sighs.
I will say that my favorite of the three books is, #Moonstruck. But this one didn't disappoint in the story and the journey of these characters navigating life and their history together as well as their many moments of interaction.
I really don't want to give away anything. But one thing I will say that might make some readers unsure about this book is that Ashton's boss wants to ruin Evan. She wants to prove that his pure and good persona is all a front and not real. So she sends Ashton in to prove that he isn't a virgin. That could make it seem like it's not a book many would want to read. I myself wasn't 100% sure what I was going to think about it since it starts off with that. It took me a couple chapters to completely decide but once I realized the type of characters Ashton and Evan were I couldn't help but cheer for them and continue reading.
No more spoilers, except to say that there are several football game scenes and I loved them...a lot! Oh, heavens I was laughing out loud during the first one. Sariah Wilson definitely knows how to write some great comedy as well as some sweet and swoony love stories. There's some history between Ashton and Evan and pain, but I was definitely cheering very strongly for Evan to get in there and fix it all. He is pretty Awesome, "Evan 'Awesome' Dawson". Hee Hee! You'll understand when you read it.
Content: Clean. But I would recommend for older readers. There are some mild innuendos throughout. A couple kissing scenes, one more of a make out scene than the others but nothing further. The characters talk about promising to wait for marriage to have sex. If you're wondering and want more detailed info for content you're welcome to private message me and I'm happy to answer any questions. I'm pretty conservative in what I read.
I received a copy from the publisher, Montlake Romance, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
Playing catch up on my reviews. I loved the previous book #Moonstruck, so when I saw this one available to read and review on NetGalley I requested it and crossed my fingers. When I got the email that I was approved I did my I-got-approved-to-read-a-book happy dance. Yes, there is such a thing and I know several of you have one too. #youknowyoudo
What would you do to get closer to having your dream job? How far would you go? What line(s) are you willing to cross, if any? Ashton Bailey finds herself having to contemplate these kinds of questions when her boss wants to prove quarterback Evan Dawson can't be as wholesome as he portrays himself to be. Ashton is the girl for the job since Evan broke her heart in high school (of course he didn't have a clue) she wants revenge. #hellhathnofurylikeawomanscorned. And that's how the story begins.
I could feel the sparks between Ashton and Evan as I read. I loved when they really opened up to each other and Ashton found out who was really behind her massive humiliation in high school. And what can I say about those super swoony kisses? #holymoly I was surprised when I found out why Ashton's boss really wanted to ruin Evan "Awesome" Dawson, but you'll get no spoilers from me.
I love Sariah Wilson's humor in her books. All the laugh out loud comments and moments that have me highlighting constantly. The characters are real--they have foot-in-mouth moments like regular people. You know when you just want to hide behind something or have the floor open up and swallow you right then and there.
Some of my favorite lines in the book were: "Our younger sister had the attention span of a gnat on coke. She was like what would happen if a fidget spinner could procreate." We all know someone this describes. "I rolled my eyes so massively hard it could have been seen from outer space." I think we've all done that at least once. "This was the problem with eating at a restaurant so fancy. I didn't know which fork to pick up and stab him with." I don't advocate violence but I thought that was hysterical. And one of my absolute favorites "male-pattern dumbness"
Thanks to Montlake Romance and NetGalley for letting me read and review this book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thanks to the author for providing a copy of this book via Netgalley
It was my first book from this author, and I will look for more of her books, I did like this author's style, and this plot. I liked strong determination of the heroine to become sport broadcaster. This job is pretty difficult to get for women, because this world is full of mysoginistic pigs! It was painful to read about her teens years and the way she was bullied! Poor child! And the reason she was bullied was this"awesome" hero!! His closest best friends did it to her!! And he didn't stand for her!! He was a coward, he was afraid the team will cut him out!! What a pig!!! He was sweet, tender, caring... But, but ,but, not good enough! And no redemption will heal bullied teen girl!! And he was virgin!! At his late twenties!! We don't get if our heroine was a virgin.
This book is heroine's POV. I wish, how I wish there was a hero's POV!!!
There were not sex scenes. No OP scenes. No cheating.
Be still my heart! Sariah Wilson has a knack for bringing hot, swoon-worthy romances to life!
This installment of the #Lovestruck series is all about a professional football player, Evan Dawson, and the girl from high school with a broken heart. Ashton is after revenge, and a coveted job, and will do anything to achieve both. But the real heart-tuggers are the personal realizations that occur along the way.
I'm not a huge football fan, but Awesome Dawson, the Jacks, and the Forest just might change my mind. I love the bond that forms between Evan and Ashton through their individual and collective love of sports. And can I just say? The supporting cast of characters were perfect!
I absolutely swooned over the vivacious and unconstrained sparks that zipped between these characters and although they each had a reason to continue on with their mistaken engagement, there was no deny the deep attraction. The witty banter was hilarious and the icing on this scrumptious cake.
If you want to take a plunge into a hilarious laugh-out-loud swoony romance, grab yourself a copy of this one!
Content: mild-moderate romance (passionate kissing, talk of waiting for marriage; innuendo)
*I received a complimentary copy. All opinions expressed are my own and were voluntarily given.*
If you’ve never read this #Lovestruck series, drop everything and pick up the first book today! I’m serious, these books are that good. I find myself laughing often, sighing in contentment, and toes curling with the fantastic clean romance.
This is the third book in the series, although they don’t have to be read in order and each can easily stand on its own.
I liked the different take the author spun on this story. Our hero, Evan “Awesome” Dawson, a famous, kind, and rich NFL star, and heroine, Ashton Bailey, a down-to-earth, spunky, wanna-be football announcer, were such a great match for each other. There is a lot of history between them from the start, but watching them fall for each other was my favorite.
Some parts were a bit predictable, but it worked for this story. Evan was a perfect swoon-worthy hero, and even had me liking football by the end.
Another great book by the talented Sariah Wilson- I cant wait to see what she writes next!!
I'm a fan of Sariah Wilson's books. This book actually made me cry, just like her first book Royal Date.
What starts out as revenge for something that happened in High School, turns to forgiveness, turns to love. Then the misunderstandings and then the distrust. Sariah Wilson spins a story and weaves her characters with intellect and drama. I love how she stands for no sex before marriage. The intense feelings you have for someone and wanting to wait for the perfect partner. I could not put this book down. A Must READ!
4 1/2 stars. Evan Dawson is a unicorn!!! He is everything a book boyfriend should be. Gorgeous, thoughtful, honest, sorry for past mistakes and NOT a man whore. Ashton is snarky and sarcastic but in the best way possible. She finds herself forgetting about revenge and falling fast and hard for her childhood crush. Their relationship progressed so naturally and I really loved how Ashton let herself really see what a good man Evan was. Brenda was a real crazy and I would have liked to see her get some comeuppance, And I definitely wanted more of the story. A peek into the rest of their lives isn't too much to ask, is it?? :)
I went back and forth on this book. I hated the hero through most of it and thought he deserved maximum punishment. But as all good writers do, this one turned my viewpoint around. I began to see his point of view and how it could have gone so badly. BTW there is no sex in this book.
LOVED this book! I just love this series. Seriously, I wish that every clean contemporary romance writer would take notes on Ms. Wilson’s writing. She has the unique ability to keep her books sex-free without being cheesy—and the chemistry, swooniness and romance is not at all lacking! Plus, they’re tension-filled and without instalove. It’s basically the perfect combo in my book. 😉❤️ I find most clean romances these days lack great chemistry/romance/tension and are heavy on the cheesiness...but gosh, Ms. Wilson’s knows how to keep things clean while still sizzling in all the right ways! Her character(s) simply make the choice to wait for marriage without it being a major focus...I don’t know, it’s just refreshingly realistic read a clean book that still has chemistry and amazing kisses. 🔥
Anyway, I seriously adore this series and struggle with wanting to inhale each new book as soon as I start it, but wanting to make it last as long as possible. In fact, I love this series so much that I looked up how many words end in the suffix -struck. 😂 Can’t wait for the next one!! Please keep this series going, Ms. Wilson! What’s next?? Dumbstruck? Thunderstruck? A man running for president falling in love with a constituent? A famous author falling for a girl at his publishing company? A well-known CEO falling for an employee of one of his charities? The possibilities are endless. 😂 I don’t know what’s next but I hope there is one. 😊 Please just keep any of your amazingly romantic, swoony, tension-filled romances coming!
HOT!!! Oh my! All the feels with this one. Absolutely loved it. The plot. The romance. The characters. Everything. Would highly recommend it and would read it again. A keeper! *Thank you to NetGalley for my copy. These are my own thoughts and opinions and I received no compensation, nor did I have to leave a positive review. It was entirely my choice and these are my honest opinions. This author writes clean romance that is suitable for all ages.
Misunderstandings and broken hearts are taken to a new level in this football story of a Quarterback and a want to be sports announcer. Rejecting Ashton Bailey's crush in high school leads Evan Dawson to apologize which leads to other page turning events. Feel good HEA romance by excellent author Sariah Wilson. "A copy of this book was provided by Montlake Romance via Netgalley with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion."
OMG, I LOVED this book!!!! This is a wonderful romance between two people that have a great deal of history together....the bad kind of history driven by teenage bullies and angst. When circumstances bring them together again, their relationship develops over a tapestry of lies.
I loved the characters and was totally in love with their story. I felt invested in their lives and found myself wanting them to get their HEA ending. This book made me vacillate between smiling and being sad, but most importantly, feeling for the characters.
This novel is a must read for fans of the genre. The author is on my must read authors' list.
#Awestruck is a huge disappointment. 😭 After the disappointment with #Moonstruck, I learned from my mistake and entered #Awestruck, the third book in Sariah Wilson's #Lovestruck series with not so very high expectations. I'm pretty sure Sam from Fictionally Sam can say the same since we both had similar feelings about the second book.
But much to my dismay and with major disappointment, I didn't see the point of going beyond 39% and suffering through the entire book. We have another fake relationship of sorts. And second chances. Like the second book, #Awestruck contains a fake relationship, but with different characters. #Awestruck's relationship is between NFL quarterback Evan and aspiring sports announcer Ashton after a bit of an accident with the press and the two decide to go along with it. But not only do we have a fake relationship, but we've also got a faker than fake relationship. (In fact, the relationship is faker than my own relationship, which is nothing at all.)
And we have a second chance relationship. Years after having her heart crushed by Evan, Ashton seizes the opportunity to get back at him when her boss wants proof that Evan isn't a virgin. But as she tries to get her revenge, she finds it increasingly difficult as her feelings for him haven't gone away. #Awestruck's second chance should have remained fizzled. FIZZLED.
I don't mind second chance romances most of the time, but this one should've stayed six feet under the ground (maybe even lower). This kind of says a lot because I'm the densest person in romance. After reading what Evan did to Ashton in high school, he doesn't deserve her at all. Ashton can do so much better and she deserves better.
In the 39% of the book that I managed to crawl through slowly, I'm still not convinced Evan deserves a second chance. There are moments in the book where Evan expresses his regret and wants to make it up to Ashton, but I fail to see the proof. I don't know, maybe it's just me? Maybe if I continued through the book, it would've been proven? I'll never find out now. The characters were ultimately meh. Other than the relationship that never should have come back up for air, I have other issues as well. I enjoy Ashton's ambitions to be a sports announcer despite the field being male-dominated, and I can feel her passion and enthusiasm for her dream.
But other than her ambitions, I just couldn't connect with her or any of the other characters, nor did I care about them (certainly not her boss, Brenda, because we can toss her into the bucket of nope). There's this feeling of, "I kind of want to read on to see what happens" but also a feeling of "I know this is going to be a bit of a mess."
Unfortunately, I didn't feel like sticking around with #Awestruck. Not when there are other books around to read instead.
I love this series!! This one was so good and makes me want to read the others all over again. I just loved Evan and Ashton and I want to hang out with them and go on couples vacations!(with Evan buying of course...). I love football so that angle just added to how much I enjoyed the story!
Was there a few things I didn’t love about the story... maybe a couple. But that’s only if I’m being picky.
I received this from Montlake Romance and Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. This book was so much fun and I absolutely adored the romance between them! The sports world was entertaining and I am still thinking about this several days later. Wonderful book and I can’t wait to real others by Sariah Wilson!

Several five star books in a row this week!!!! Yay, me.
Evan was book boyfriend of year. He's not perfect but pretty close.
I liked Ashton and I'd put her insecurities and immaturity to her being younger than Evan and at a different place due to his treatment of her in highschool. I didn't buy that what his friends were doing was beyond him/like his friend was/is an ass. Overlooked because Ashton would never let him apologize or explain.
So, I liked Evan way better than Ashton but she'll get there because she's surrounded by great family ❤️ and my 💓 new book boyfriend.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I wanted to love this book. It's my first by this author and the blurb drew me into the story and had my attention. I love books where the characters are NFL (or hockey, or whatever sport) which is so odd as I am NOT a sports fan in real life. Not even a little.
Ashton and Evan have a nasty history in high school, and she never heard his side of the story or allowed him to apologize. I get it, I do. And, I am not sure there was all that much that could be said to take away the damage he caused, but, there is some light shed on the events that makes it marginally better. But, before the light is shed, Ashton's boss at the sports network where she works wants her to complete an expose to catch Evan not being who he says he is, she is all in.
Evan, you see, is a virgin. And, he is famous for it. It's well known and Ashton is convinced she is going to be able to prove this is a lie. To seduce him, and prove that it's not true, that he is making it up as a part of his image. So, at this point, we have a lie, ulterior motives, a grudge, and an ugly history. It's quickly becoming too much of a hole for me to be able to believe they could ever dig their way out of.
But, hey, you can get over a lot when it's true love, right?
This is a sweet title, which I was expecting. And, there is nothing in it that is explicit. Which is fine. If there is chemistry, a connection, and obvious attraction with the characters, you don't need the sex scenes or the hot chemistry. Unfortunately, there was not a bit of chemistry, I didn't believe the attraction, and there was no connection between Ashton and Evan. Now, let's refer to all the reasons they have to not be together, add in the total lack of chemistry, connection, or even attraction I felt between them and, yeah, this is going to be a problem.
It turned out to be a problem the book never recovered from.
In order for a romance to work, I have to believe there is passion between the characters. It was completely missing in this story. I do not recommend this title.
#Awstruck is an entertaining sports romance in Sariah Wilson’s #Lovestruck series and it can be read as a standalone. While the story is somewhat predictable I enjoyed this witty, humorous, romantic book. Ashton is a dedicated and humorously sarcastic heroine. I loved her as a character. She is pursuing a career that is dominated by men and seizes an opportunity that will help her get ahead all while enacting revenge on the star quarterback and her former tormentor, Evan. Evan aka “Awesome Dawson” is quite the gentleman in that he is kind, loving, romantic, sexy, and supportive of Ashton. Evan was portrayed as the perfect gentleman and at times he almost seemed too perfect to me. Nonetheless, I loved his character and he would be the ideal book boyfriend. The question is, is Evan truly what he seems? The two of them together make a great couple - they compliment each other in every way and you cannot help but want them to get their HEA.
Two things that I would have liked to have seen in the book are 1. an epilogue and 2. a few chapters from Evan’s POV as I would have enjoyed getting a glimpse of his thoughts and emotions. #Awestruck moves at a good pace with no parts that lag. I loved the secondary characters - especially Ashton’s sisters and Nia. This book has a HEA with no cliffhanger. I received this book for free.
I am going to sound like a total fangirl here and I don't care. I love this series and this author actually. Her books are like lovely desserts without the calories. I read them in one sitting.
This book is no different, with a swoonworthy hero and a feisty heroine.
Highly recommended, perfect read to make a grey day better.
Guilty pleasure read. Was in the mood for something for purely entertainment that wouldn’t require too much brain activity or jerk around my emotions (I do like those books, but wasn’t in the mood for one). This hit the bill. High chemistry romance and I liked the message of waiting to have sex until marriage and thought it was interesting to read in a non-Christian viewpoint.
