Will Louise's men be able to help her get rid of her ghosts?

Skye MacKinnon is a USA Today & International Bestselling Author whose books are filled with strong heroines who don't have to choose.

She embraces her Scottishness with fantastical Scottish settings and a dash of mythology, no matter if she's writing about Celtic gods, cat shifters, or the streets of Edinburgh.

When she's not typing away at her favourite cafe, Skye loves dried mango, as much exotic tea as she can squeeze into her cupboards, and being covered in pet hair by her tiny black cat (who's secretly a demon).

I still think it's all a delusion! The men are all awake and safe from the virus for now. Poor Louise still feels completely crazy because she knows she heard their voices in her head when they were in the pods. This is a reverse harem with little to no intimacies.

There are communication problems between Mars and Earth, and we know the apocalyptic flooding on earth will soon become overwhelming to the entire population.

I still liked the majority of the story. The writing, overall, is well done. My biggest issue is that there isn't much character and relationship development. In fact, really there is only relationship development between Louise and Han and maybe (big maybe here) between Louise and Bastian. There is exactly zero development between Louise and the other four men. That was rather disappointing as I was looking forward to it.

Some might complain that there was also no real steam between the characters. The author made it pretty clear this series isn't a steamy series, so to expect such is silly. And to lower the rating for it is completely unfair, in my opinion. RH does NOT equate to steamy sex scenes. Plain and simple. The author was clear this series wasn't about that. So... just don't expect it.

I did enjoy how the story progressed. At the end of the first book Louise is clearly going through a mental breakdown due to her being alone for so long. She was delusional, and in her mind she and the men were already romantically involved and having discussions while they were still cryogenically sleeping! So in this book, we see how that delusion affects her relationship with the men now that they are awake. She has to battle her mind, essentially, while still trying to survive on Mars.

The storyline itself is original and really fun. I do wish these books were longer, and were they longer, I feel as though more growth could be had in the characters. Overall, it's enjoyable, and I intend to start the final book next.

There's no romance in this book. She kisses one of the guys, then you get a paragraph that says they're in a relationship—no details, and I don't just mean a lack of explicit details.

Then time jumps and she kisses another one of the guys, where it ends at that.

And the very next chapter it's "And yes, now I'm with all six of them." No build up, no romantic tension, no glimpse into these relationships.

This novella is a great continuation of "Alone". The guys are finally awake and very different than Louise imagined. She has to cope with her delusions and trauma. She gets to know the guys and they are amazing. I really enjoyed reading how their relationship progressed. Too bad this installment was read so quickly. I would like to read more about the guys and Louise, mostly due to the fact that there are also some questions left unanswered but I also need to know more about these wonderful characters and their unique relationship with each other. So hopefully, there will be a next book.
I voluntarily offered to review this book and my opinions are honest.

Very pleased how this turned out, the author did an amazing job making you wonder what is real and what wasn't for the main Mc Louise.
Would love to see a few more in this series as there are several unanswered questions such as what's up with the scientist with the classified status. How did the other guys feel about her sanity once they found out how far gone she was. How did they feel about sharing one woman? Should this series continue I will be very happy.
I do love the depth that the author put into Louise's struggles, she is great about making you feel like you are there with her.
Thank you for a great read hope to read more in the future. 🔮

A great continuation from Alone. So glad it wasn't just a standalone because I was seriously worried for Louise because she had definitely gone of the deep end, trying to keep the Mars station running and keep the guys in stasis alive. And she fell in love with them and they with her. While asleep. But then awake and everything is wrong. They don't act like they should. Louise finds out that it wasnt Real but the guys don't seem to judge her for it. And real relationships can develop. So Louisa gets what she wanted for REAL this time! Wait for the other shoe to drop but I'm hoping for another episode in the Mars Diaries!

Closed door sex in a reverse harem?? This book has it!

No real relationship building? And skip the interesting parts to BOOM! All together? This book has it!

Why bother? This is a total bait and switch. A load of crap. Don't waste your time.

OMG what can I say but wow the second book in the series was even better than the first and that is saying something as the the first one was excellent. Louise has really been through a lot and her coping methods are starting to crack. She had to put her sorrow and grief aside without being able to process and work through the trauma she want through in the first book. This book is more about her and experience then their romance but it it adds to the book and so well. Great read

Awwwwww

Sci-fi. Rh. 6 survivers. Strong, smart, not so crazy anymore scientist heroine. Nothing is how Louise thought it would be. Her men don't talk to her, they act different, and she feels so alone now. Earth is still slowly being devoured by water. How will the seven survive on Mars. It was nice seeing Louise's mind about the situation. And the guys! They'll grow on you. I'll be preordering the next in series. Oh! If you didn't know this series is connected with MacKinnon's The Drowning series. A paranormal dystopian about after the Earth has been flooded.

l really enjoyed how the characters and the world was built . The description of the Spire was fantastic and brought to life . I enjoyed how the relationships grew with tons of emotion. you can really feel how the Main female character thought she had built real physical feelings for the men. The hard part was feeling hurt for her. l really enjoy the fact that back on earth the drowning is taking place and this event connects some of the authors other books.
can't wait for the next in this Series!

This is book 2 in the Mars Diaries series, and like the first one, I didn't want it to end. Thank goodness the next one isn't too far off. This book picks up right where book 1 ends. Things aren't going the way Louise thought they would, but that's the only thing I'm going to say about the plot. I don't want to give away anything about this wonderfully written, amazing book. The world building, the character development, and the intrigue in this story is everything I have come to love about Skye's books!

“Hidden” is the next installment of the Mars Diaries. The sex men are now awake, but Louise can’t figure out why they don’t remember her and their conversations from when they were in the cryotubes.
Louise has to figure out what is real and what is her imagination. Can she figure it out in time or will she go crazy?
A couple months later, Mars loses contact with Earth. Earth is under water. Louise and the men now have to figure out how to live on their own. No more supplies, no new colonists, no more communication.

In ALONE (Mars Diaries 1), a virus wipes out a Mars colony except for one lone woman, Louise, and six men sent to Mars in stasis pods. At the same time, Earth is being deluged and destroyed by massive flooding. HIDDEN picks up the story. The men have been awakened, and Louise, suffering from PTSD, struggles to form relationships with them. They realize they are cut off from Earth forever.

This was a closed-door reverse harem romance. I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of sexual content. Recommend for readers who like their SFR on the tame side.

I was hoping there would be a second book in this novella series. I am so happy there was one, the first book was so incredibly good albeit short that I was dying to know what happened next. This series ties in with another series of the authors, quite cleverly. You could tell Louise was losing it in the beginning and I was quite curious to see where the book was going to go. It was perfect. Love Louise and her men!

This series has become one of my favorites. I enjoyed Louise in the first book and she is only more real in the second. The men are not who she imagined them and it is taking a bit for her to reconcile with that. Earth has finally lost contact with them. It took longer than I expected but wasn’t a surprise.
I do wish these books were a little longer, but they are well written.
I received this book free through Booksprout in exchange for my honest review.

Alone (book 1) was just one of those books that stayed with me - it was so original and I just wanted to see more of Louise and what happened once the guys were awake, so I was excited to see Hidden. I really liked that Louise and they guys were still dealing with what happened in Alone. I liked seeing them learn to work with each other. I’m so happy that there is going to be a third book and we will get to see more of Louise and her guys!

A waste of a dollar (or 2, as I bought the first installment also)-- while there was nothing wrong with this excerpt --I can't call it a short story, as it was more like a few chapters of a larger story-- there was nothing great about it either. There was no real romance or relationship building, people just ended up with Louise because she was the only female. I like other stuff by this author, but I'll skip these serial stories, as they lack depth or length. I won't bother purchasing book 3.

Not as Good

The promise of Alone did not pan out in Hidden. The abrupt turn around from the men thinking Louise is crazy to kissing her had to be short because the book is so short; but it jarred me just the same. We only see the world from Louise's perspective, so Skye doesn't show how the men's thought processes progressed. It's still good, but I was underwhelmed based on my anticipation from Alone.

Five ⭐️’s Definitely!!

Sorry no spoilers of any kind because I’m not the type that does that! So what can I say about Hidden? Well all I’m going to say is that it’s amazing just like Alone was! I can not wait until Found is out because I have to know what happens to Louise and the guys since Hidden like Alone ends on a cliffhanger.
So yes I most definitely recommend this book to anyone who’s interested in climbing into this book and getting lost in it’s pages. But if you haven’t read Alone I recommend that you do that way you don’t get confused as to who is who and what is what when you read this one.

The thing that was used to get Louise out of the flashback(?nightmare?) was literally insane....

You can't go from the guys acting logical&normal&like real people to instalove in a blink, especially in such a short book, I'm-

Idek what to say at this point other than:
this is such a cool concept but the execution is piss poor 😭

My goodness

The second part of this story, Louise is no longer alone on Mars but she feels like she is, nothing is as she thought and reality is hard!

Well written, I enjoyed this short novella, I enjoyed the storyline and the characters are great, an unusual and lovely reverse harem read

Good book

I liked the premise of this book and it’s super interesting! It’s a verrrry short read though so I do wish it had been longer to see more interactions with Louise and the guys

Can’t wait for the finally

This was a cute, but short story. Where you find out what happens to the MC and the guys she’s finally awakened. I was hoping for more of a story but I guess this will have to do. Like at least a sex scene or more dialogue talk between her and the men.

This was the perfect follow up to Alone. I'm not sure what I was expecting but this definitely surpassed it. It's such a refreshingly unique story. I do wish it was longer, I'd love more of Louise and the men.

Dawn of a new day

Good follow up story to Alone. Now that everyone understands Louise’s delusions and helps her past those and her nightmares, they are able to form friendships (and more).

I enjoyed this story but wish it had been expanded on more. She goes from crazy to being with all the guys in a blink so you don’t really get to see any of it build up.

The ending was waaay to abrupt. Don't want to spoil anything, but I felt the author skipped the entire RH development point. Great premise though.
