The Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs series continues with a couple fighting to keep what they thought they had and gain what they didn’t know they needed.

Roxie Montgomery met her soul mate when she least expected it. When he asked her to marry him, she thought her happily ever after was only just beginning. Then, she found that walking into the sunset was much harder than her favorite books made it out to be. After a crushing loss, she feels as though she doesn’t know her husband anymore, or rather…she doesn’t know herself.

Carter Marshall has loved Roxie since the first time he saw her. But as the days pass between them, so does the distance. He doesn’t know how to show her that he’s all in, and honestly doesn’t know if she’s in at all. When an accident changes everything, they’ll have to decide if what they have can be salvaged, or if starting over is the answer. Or even possible.

Without fighting, without a true new beginning, sometimes, the remnants of what was lost can leave anyone jagged, shells of what they were before. It will take more than the idea of forever for Roxie and Carter to find themselves again, but as the Montgomerys know, nothing worth fighting for is easy.

The book dragged!!! They don't start the reconnecting process until 55%. You do not even know why they are going through problems. I don't know why the author was trying to keep it a secret.

I didn't feel connected to the characters at all and there is no chemistry between them. This book just starts in a random time in their life when they are already going through problems. You do not connect with them because you are not with them when they fall in love. The author just hints at it. There is a lot of storytelling in this book, no real dialogue especially the first 50% of the book.

Would have rated it higher, but the author hit a pet peeve of mine.

The hero goes on a date with OW. OW is the one that tells him to work it out with his wife, then all of a sudden he wants to work on his marriage.

I HATE when this happens. Why can't the hero find this courage on his own. Why do other people have to tell him. Especially a woman he went on a date with while still married. Yes, he had signed papers, but his wife hadn't. They were still legally married.

His friends told him to work on his marriage, but he didn't listen to them. He listened to the "sweet and nice" woman.

Whatever.

The author started to turn their relationship around, but I was over it by then.

I couldn't get over going on a date with another woman. Nothing happened, but really??

You can see this and other Reviews I have written along with various cover reveals, excerpts, and giveaways here Nadine's Obsessed with Books

It's no secret that I'm a fan of Carrie Ann Ryan's work and it's no surprise when it comes to books like this one why I am all grabby hands when she has a release. In Jagged Ink we find out what is behind the unhappiness that has been plaguing Roxie and Carter in the previous two books. If you have read Fallen Ink and/or Restless Ink you know something has been going on, you may even have your own guesses, e.g.; did he cheat on her, is there abuse going on, etc., but unless you have been through it yourself or maybe if you payed really close attention to the subtle hints given will you actually know the cause behind their sadness. For me going into this book, I had a strong feeling on what the problem would be and knew it would be a difficult one to deal with but I knew it would be done with grace so I was all in.

Carrie Ann Ryan takes a difficult topic and gives us a story that is filled with hope, love, and forgiveness. Five Stars easily given to Roxie and Carter's journey to finding what they had lost and getting their second chance at forever.

Each of the stories in the Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs Series can be read as a standalone but I would suggest you read them in order but if you're not able to do so please be sure to read Restless Ink first because there is a big part of this story that takes place in that book. Happy Reading!!!

I found this really hard to rate and review. On one hand I absolutely love CAR and most of her books I loved the way the book was written and included very well into the current series but I just didn’t jell well with Carter and Roxi, even though I’ve been waiting to find out what all drama between them was all about.
I know not every relationship is easy and needs working at but I just felt that it was all unnecessary because of there lack of there communication and they hurt each other and there family because of something as simple as them not wanting to stop working and talk to each other.
I could of given 5 stars just because I love this author but I really didn’t enjoy this book like all the others and couldn’t rate dishonestly.

I've been waiting for this book since the first Colorado Springs novel. Roxi and Carter's relationship has always been such a big question mark. I loved Carter, he seemed to be such a strong, caring man, perfectly fitting in with the Montgomerys. Roxie seemed sweet, but she wasn't as openly loving, welcoming as the others. She always seemed to be a little closed off. Now we know why. Their marriage was in trouble, and with a family full of HEA's, I was sure that their problems were keeping them from reaching out for help.

My heart was breaking as their story unfolded. It happens often.

SPOILER AHEAD:
A miscarriage can put a huge strain on a relationship. She's feeling hurt, and maybe a bit of a failure. He may or may not be feeling these same hurts, but he thinks that he needs to put on a strong front for her. She thinks he doesn't care enough because he's not showing it. They don't talk about it, it festers. She begins to close off, he takes it as an affront. He closes off. They don't communicate. They become him and her. Can this be fixed? How?

Carter was burned badly saving Thea in Restless Ink and this story picks up from there. His recovery time doesn't bring them any closer and when he's back on his feet they separate. Divorce papers taken out, it looked like a HEA wasn't in the cards. But we know better. And like that song goes, sometimes goodbye is a second chance.

I loved watching them, not go back to the beginning as that's impossible, but start again. They finally talked about the elephant in the room, they communicated. That was the key. Their feelings for each other never died, it was just hidden under all their baggage. Clear the baggage, clear the air and begin anew. And I loved how they embraced going to counseling, realizing that they needed external help. Sometimes in novels, that's ignored. Congrats to Carrie Ann Ryan for tackling such a sensitive issue and incorporating it with her much loved Montgomery family.

Oh, and introducing a new branch of the family tree. I can't wait to read Liam's story in the Montgomery Ink: Boulder arc!

3.5 Stars

I will start off with saying, I love this author. I have read pretty much everything she has written. I adore the Montgomery's and this spin off of the family has been good reading so far. This story is about Roxie and Carter. We have met them in earlier books and get the sense that things are not ok with the marriage.

My issue with this book is that I could have done away with the first 40% of the book. It was told in alternating POV but every chapter was just all the same thoughts by each lead character. Neither would talk to their friends. Neither would talk to each other and they just seemed resigned to throw in the towel. Finally, when they decide to at least talk to each other instead of staying in their heads, the story starts to pick up.

I did like how everything played out. I liked that they needed to get to know each other again. I loved the message that relationships are work and we have to be open to change and being able to talk about it in order to continue forward. All good stuff.

If the first part of the book was condensed to a chapter, this would have been a great read. I liked it in the end but not my favorite from this author.

Jagged Ink is the third book in the Colorado Springs series. Since the moment we found out about the tension between Carter and Roxie I have been waiting for their story. I thought that the events of book 2 would be a turning point for their relationship and the timeline of these two books would overlap, but that wasn't the case. This book begins around the time book 2 ended.

As much as I love the author I have to be honest. Jagged Ink was very frustrating. I kept wishing that Carter and Roxie would sit down like two adults and talk, but they were always circling around the topic. It's clear that they are still in love with each other and they don't want their marriage to end, but after what happened they can't voice the words. I just wanted to lock them in a room until they had a serious conversation. I am not a fan of miscommunication and it went on for quite some time in this book. I guessed early on what happened and drove them apart since it's hinted in some ways. I wanted them to voice it though and that didn't happen until late. I loved the part where they decided to work things out though. It was well written.

The story has a little angst, frustration, sadness, hope, and happiness. It's basically one rollercoaster of emotions. It wasn't a bad book, but I was expecting more from the author.

I'm going to start by saying that this book was hard to read, and took me a bit longer to get through than normal, only because of the depth of emotions that were involved in this book. But, in the end, I'm so glad I read Roxie and Carter's story, because it is so full of emotion, so full of hope, renewal, and forgiveness. Roxie and Carter were happy together, until they weren't. Something happened, and ripped their world apart. This book is all about what happens when happily ever after, just isn't enough.

This isn't your typical romance. It begins after the HEA, after the wedding, when things start falling apart. There were many tears shed while reading this book, and my heart hurt for Roxie and Carter. There was so much involved, so many things that could have gone wrong, I wasn't sure if they were ever going to find a true HEA together. I enjoyed looking at romance from a different view point, I loved Roxie and Carter together, but could tell in previous books that something just wasn't right. The beauty of their story, the sincerity, is about love, forgiveness, and family. There is nothing stronger, more important than that, and this book focuses on that. For anyone that loves the Mongomerys, this book is a must read, because it shows just how strong they are as a family, how supportive they are, and how they band together when someone needs them. Absolutely perfect!

Jagged Ink by Carrie Ann Ryan
“Through good times and bad, 4 stars”

Roxie and Carter exchanged wedding vows. They loved each other more than they thought was possible. Then life happened and it kept knocking them down. Will they keep fighting for each other or will they walk away in defeat? Only one way to find out.
We always read love stories about the good times, but Jagged Ink is about getting through the bad times. It was refreshing to read something that wasn’t your traditional love story. Yes, the couple loves each other but sometimes one questions if love is enough. Jagged Ink brings up two things I preach, communication and always keep dating your spouse.
I enjoyed these two and I hope you do as well.

Jagged Ink is the third book in the Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs series. Roxie is the youngest of four, and has always been surrounded by lots of protective family ready to lend a hand. But Roxie is constantly wanting to prove her independence and her capability to herself and pushing it onto her husband Carter. Carter has been an orphan since his parents died when he was 18. He knows what it means to have nothing and have to survive. He also knows what it meant to have a family again and be included with the Montgomery's once he married Roxie. and now its all being taken away again. Neither knows how to help the other, how to reach the pain each of them are holding to so tightly, and neither of them knows how to talk about the big things that rocked their still new marriage to the core until its must this side of too late. Then all the card are on the table, and no one is wanting to let go.
I really loved this conclusion to the CS Montgomery. i know they will still be in other books and we sill see their lives progressing but i loved Roxie and carter being the last couple. it shows how much they ha to go through together while the other couples where finding each other and nee love. what they were suffering - in silence- even though everyone knew they protected them more by not asking. cant wait for the next spin off series to begin!

Jagged Ink was very repetitive and slow in the beginning which made it somewhat difficult to get into. The fact that it contained a trope that I'm not overly fond of, miscommunication didn't help matters, that said I did enjoy the latter part of this story.

So I'm going to start this review like I always do with Mrs. Ryan's books, and say I'm a huge fan of Mrs. Ryan's. I've been a fan of her's since the beginning of the Montgomery Ink series. And had been so excited for this Spin-Off series. I had also been really excited about Roxie and Carter's story. I think theirs was the one story I wanted to get to. And than my excitment died out and this is actually the very first book that I DNF. And I'll tell you why in a minute.

As mentioned above ever since Colorado Springs Montgomery's had started I think Roxie and Carter are the two character's that I wanted to get to know. You could tell as this series has gone on that these two had a story to tell. And as soon as these two landed on my kindle I dove right in.

I want to say this I had No issues with Roxie and Carter's characters. In fact I loved Roxie and Carter. I thought that Roxie and Carter were a very likable, relateable, loveable couple. My issues with this book were Not Roxie and Carter.

Here are my issues with this book: Within the first chapter I knew I was going to have a problem with this book. The first couple chapter's every couple of paragraph's became repetitive. Than it became every other paragraph. And than by Chapter Nine-is/Ten-ish it was like every sentence was repetitive. I mean there's only so many different times and different ways you can read that these two realize that they had issues, that they didn't want to hurt each other, that they loved each other, that they needed to talk about there issues, but because they had issues they didn't know how to talk to each other about said issues.

Look usually in a book when you quickly realize that there is a bigger issue at hand that the character's haven't dealt with. I usually have No Problem waiting it out and finding out what the issue is when the character's finally open up about it. But with this book it was pretty easy with the first few chapters to figure out what was Roxie and Carter's issue. But by Chapter Thirteen they were still skirting around the issues and not talking about it. But knew they had to talk about it, because it was what their biggest issues was, was not talking about it.

Yeah so by chapter thirteen I was just kind of over everything. I just couldn't do it anymore. I have to say there have been maybe a handful of books that I have almost given up on, that I wanted to give up on. But I pushed through, because I knew I was reviewing them and wanted to be able to give my full review. Also I just don't like Not being able to not finish a book. And I tried, I really tried my hardest with this book. But I just couldn't do it and thus I have my very first DNF book.

I think I may take a break from Mrs. Ryan's books for awhile. As mentioned at the beginning of this review I'm a big fan of her's and have alway's loved the Montromery Ink series. But this spin-off series just hasn't cut it for me. So yeah I'm thinking I need to take a break from her books and come back to them later.

Unfornately I'm giving this book 2 Stars out of 5!!!

**I received an ARC of this book for my honest opinion**

The rest of the Montgomery clan knew that something was going on between the couple, they wanted answers but they were willing to wait for them to share they worries with them. Carter left their marital home cause things were getting to awkward.

Even though she's the one who wanted to get divorce, it pained Roxie so much when he walked away. They both found their way back to each other. They rediscovered what made they fall in love with one another the first time.

If was a treat to catch up with old characters and meet new ones. The Montgomery clan's growing. Looking forward to Landon and Kaylee's story ;).

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, and heartbreak.

If you have not already read the below I would recommend reading those books first:
Fallen Ink (Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs #1)
Restless Ink (Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs #2)
Ashes to Ink
(Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs #2.5)

This is Roxie and Carter’s story. Roxie believed that once she found her soul mate that they would live happily ever after like in the books she reads but that is not always the case. When she is broken after a crushing loss it seems like all has been lost. She is shattered beyond belief. Carter has loved Roxie ever since he met her. They have been through so much, but he is not about to give up on her no matter what. Can these two find a way back to each other or is this truly all over for them? When push comes to shove will these two fight for each other or just walk away?

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book.

This is book 3 in the Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs series and I recommend that you read the first 2 before reading this one. Otherwise you may not understand things that are talked about in this book that happened in the previous books. We finally get Roxie and Carter's story and let me tell you, bring the tissues because you will need them when you understand exactly what happened between them! Roxie and Carter have drifter further and further apart and neither know what to do, until it's almost too late. This book brings out all the feelings and it may be hard for some to read. The reason behind them drifting apart is hard, and the lack of communication between them was even harder to read. And about 3/4's of the way through, I honestly didn't think they were going to get their HEA. The line in the book that sometimes love isn't enough, I don't think that has ever been more accurately portrayed than in this book. The fact that they both figured out just how much they truly not only loved each other, but needed each other was beautifully written. They learned that while yes, the love was always there (even when they didn't necessarily feel it from the other), that communication and support from not only each other but family is key to any relationship. When they finally took the time to SPEAK about what happened and how much it hurt them, they could finally move on and find themselves and their marriage again. I loved it! This book is incredibly difficult on the emotions but it just shows how hard real marriages are. How much you have to work at them, and really, truly communicate with your partner through thick and thin. Or you just might lose the one person you love above all else. Absolutely beautiful story about what real marriage is like!

This book.
Dear god.
It’s breathlessly, painfully, hopefully and genuinely amazing. It takes you on a roller coaster of emotions. It leaves you gasping, crying, screaming for more. For the characters and their circumstances and yourself as a reader. Tears were shed with this one and I don’t cry often.
Watching Roxie and Carter try to find their new normal. Watching their family try to push them for better. Watching their love grow and recede and prosper was such an intense and heart wrenching read. I wanted to put it down after a couple of scenes, I wanted to walk away and take a breather. But I couldn’t, because I needed to know what happened. Why it happened. And how they were going to overcome.
Carrie Ann Ryan will always be a good to read for me, and after this book that’s just cemented in my heart. Roxie and Carter are by far one of my top 5 favorite couples of hers, top 10 of couples in general. I will remember them and their stories for a long time.
Carter in general broke my heart so many times, so many times I genuinely wanted to reach into the pages and pull him to me and just hug him. And Roxie, she’s so strong and determined, but lost and scared at the same time. It’s a beautiful evolution of her character as a woman and a wife.
Have some tissues ready for this one.

Not my favorite from this series, but still full of emotion and heart. Roxie and Carter had a whirlwind that was so easy, until it was't ad their marriage collapsed. They have been pretending for her family, but Carter's accident gives perspective they had been missing and there is reason to sit down and have the talk they had both been avoiding.

This was so hard to read because they are both hurting so badly for a majority of the book. They have to face the reasons their relationship broke and the pain that had been swept under the rug and both are afraid of what they might decide if they face that hurt. (It wasn't a huge surprise what they were avoiding talking about based on hints throughout the series, but it was something they hadn't talked about with the family so was new even if events had taken place in the past.)

Roxie and Carter thought they were soulmates and had gotten married but things did not seem to be what they thought. Each one is hurting for different reasons and they pulled away from each other thinking that the other one didn't love them. The beginning of the book has Carter recuperating from a fire and Roxie takes care of him but they are just roommates.
These 2 should have just sat and told what each other was feeling and what happened could have been avoided. I really love these 2 and the Montgomery family. I felt that the storyline of these 2 fighting their way to each other dragged just a little bit so that is why it a 4 star instead of a 5. I can't wait to read more of this series.
