While I was unsure I’d like the Hero based on the little we saw of him in book 2 I’m glad to say that I did warm up to him and I think he was good for the heroine. While he was a practical joker 80% of the time his serious side shined through when needed.
Unlike the previous books the main conflict happened around 50% in which allowed plenty of time for a more realistic resolution. This wasn’t a “ok, you apologized and I’m over it” situation. The Hero had to prove himself to in fact be changed and having learned from his mistakes.
I also liked the heroine and while I felt she went over the top with some things I could understand her reasoning. She did learn from her previous mistakes so that was nice to see.
Overall it was a good continuation of the series and I’m actually sad to see it end - there are a few other character I would like to see get their story. The only thing I would have changed would be for the Hero to know more about what happened to the heroine. No he didn’t need to see the video but more than just the cliff notes I felt would have been beneficial.
As always it’s completely safe and I recommend for young teens and anyone looking for a light read.

I read an ARC copy of this.

This was definitely my least favorite one so far. Don't get me wrong I still liked it. It just wasn't as good. It doesn't surprise me because I knew going in that Jake was a prankster. I just didn't realize that KC was going to be a pain. Luckily everything was worked out in the end.

April Fools’ Joke by Kellie McAllen a five-star read that will have you crying with laughter. This is the third book in the Holiday High series, they can all be read as stand-alone as each deal with a different couple but they are mostly the same group of friends so I have read them in order and loved them as is revealed more in each story about the different characters. I know it’s about a bunch of High school kids but don’t let that put you off if you don’t usually read the genre as its brilliant, the characters have ageless depth to them facing drama that no one should.
Jake is the original joker he lives to pull jokes on people and when he pulls one prank to far will he discover that pulling pranks isn’t the only way to get attention or will he not care. KC is starting over, new school, new look and she may be hiding under her goth clothes but her heart is still the same heart of a fighter. What ensues will have you laughing and feeling for the characters and never wanting this series to end.
Thank you Kellie McAllen for writing a high school book for all ages. I can’t wait to read more from you.

Total Score: 5/5

Summary:

Jake has always been the joaster of the school pulling pranks and he is determined that this April Fool's Day to outdo himself. The only problem is when is a prank too much? It is KC's first day in her new school, but her vow to keep a low profile is all but forgotten when she sees one of the student's, Jake, hurting others with his jokes. Jake's ultimate stunt proves to be too much when it all goes wrong sending KC to the hospital from an allergic reaction. Now there is no way Jake could have known, but that doesn't mitigate his feelings of guilt. From the most unusual beginnings, Jake and KC strike up a tentative friendship as she starts to trust Jake in spite of everything that has happened. Jake is not being completely truthful with her, but how could he tell her that his interest wasn't completely without ulterior motives, at least a first. Everything blows up, but KC isn't one to cry quietly as she and the girls of the school decide to pull as stunt of their own. It is a battle between the sexes with no rules leaving you to wonder who will win in the end or will it be a draw?

This was a will and crazy ride back to the complications and fun of high school Each book in this series gets better as they go along continuing the lives and loves of the students in West By High. It is difficult to trust once you have been betrayed, but KC willingness to try again showed she was ready to go on with her life. Jake with all his bluster showed his true colors when he accepted what happened without asking any questions helping her to move on. Jake's reputation for being a happy-go-lucky gay could be a cover for other feelings. They have more in common then they think if they can just look past what other people think to see who they really are.

I became a fan of Kellie McAllen after reading her Date With Destiny Series, ever since then I have enjoyed all her novels and look forward to any she adds to her library....As soon as you start this book 📚 you are there, absorbed into the lives of teenagers and the antics of High School life once again. You are immoediately the fly on the wall, or like me, in the mind or the main characters. Kellie McAllen has the ability to transfer emotions into words with such realism that this dosnt feel like a book, it feels like you are amongst a group of friends, watching, feeling and advising. The main characters in the storyline are easily identified, the other characters become a part of the story but are mainly in the background helping the storyline move forward. You will experience insecurities, sadness, loneliness all whilst being held at arms length. Alongside these you will also feel, fun, laughter, friendship, with more than one person who wants to shed there reputations. The conclusion to the story certainly showed the authors originality of thought. I feel if Kellie McAllen wasn’t an author she would make a marvellous agony aunt for young and old alike, as in her books I always find a question proposed for solution or discussion that no doubt is affecting or has been affected by many, at some point in their lives. She highlights and weaves guidance in such a delicate way that deserves applauding

This is the third book in the series and each book I expect to be disinterested, at least a little, by the comings and going shopping of high school life. I didn’t care for it much when I was in high school myself. Yet Kellie has once again pleasantly surprised me. The emotional rollercoaster that Jake- the lovable prankster who sometimes is a bit too childish-, and KC- the walled new girl with a bad enough past experience to want to never speak to people again- bring us through, is hard to not follow and get caught up in. It’s a mix of emotions not knowing who to root for or be mad at each chapter. While I didn’t identify with jakes, let’s say, fun loving side as much, I did appreciate the honedge to guys still worrying about some of the same things as girls, and caring about the same things. I also identified with KC on a lot of aspects. This book is a perfect example of how delicate a relationship can be when people haven’t quite learned to trust each other, and be open and honest.

Good story for high school ages. Jake the ultimate prankster goes a little too far in this story and inspires the girls to do a little of their own pranks. Turn about is fair play except Jake is feeling terrible about what he did and wants a second chance with KC. In turn, KC is feeling sorry about what she did and wants to try again with Jake but doesn’t quite know if she can really trust Jake again. All these little games that high schoolers play makes me feel glad I’m not in school anymore. The author does a good job of describing certain situations that this age group can get into. I was a little disappointed however, about the scene where Jake is caught with his hands in his pants and tries to cover it up with a pillow. I thought it was totally unexpected and unnecessary especially since this book is described as a ‘clean’ read.

4.5 stars 🌟

This is the third book in the Holiday High series, yet another funny high school romance, this time prankster Jake seems to have met his match in KC a new transfer to the high school. After some harrowing events at her last school, KC has transferred for a fresh start, and just wants to fly under the radar, until she becomes the unfortunate victim of one if Jakes pranks.

Jake has a troubling character in previous books, as you wanted to like him, but couldn’t understand his incessant unnecessary pranks. You get to understand why in this book that makes him a much more human and attractive person, but can KC get over his behaviour and learn to trust him?!?

A great story and a fun read, I highly recommend the entire series! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Actions Have Consequences

I wasn't too sure if I would really get into this series but I am pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed reading about this group of kids. I'm not completely finished with this book yet but I should finish it tonight. It may be about high school students but it's still an enjoyable read nonetheless and I think if any age were to pick up this book they would enjoy it. This book still centers around Mia, Kerri, Jake, Connor, Dylan and introducing Kaitlyn and a host of other students mostly this one is about Jake and KC. I'll come back and finish my review once I finish the book.

I now have finished the book and it's better then I expected. Really enjoyed getting to know this cast of characters.

Notorious prankster Jake Matthews goes a little overboard on April Fools Day and lands KC in the hospital.
KC determined to keep him at arms length but he's everywhere, being nice and charming.

Til she finds out about another ongoing bet between most of the males.

Now it's time for revenge, KC plans to have the girls catfish the guys for prom.

Can she get Jake to fall for her?

While I like Jake, he puts himself in stupid situations and like most teenage boys, makes it worse without meaning too. His good intentions always seem to backfire with KC.
But you can't help but feel bad for him.
I defiantly got She's all that and 10 Things I Hate about You.

Had me laughing all the way through.
I have enjoyed this series and characters more then I thought.

I write weird reviews.

I read a sneak peek for this book that was at the end of the previous book and wasn't sure I would like it because to me Jake was unlikeable. But I wanted to see how KC dealt with him so I read it despite my misgivings about him. And I am glad I did! This book was enjoyable and relatable. They were dealing with modern problems that kids have today without seeming like an after school special. The only downsides were Jake's practical jokes and the way some of the issues were resolved. I also didn't like the fact that KC's big issue wasn't addressed to the police, and if it couldn't be then why, because what happened to her sounds criminal. But I really liked the way Jake changed and matured through the book and their romance, even the cheesy parts.

In this third book in the Holiday High Series, we have the story of Jake and KC.
Jake is the school prankster, but he doesn't hurt anyone, just have some fun.
KC is the new student at school, wanting to go unnoticed after suffering with a humiliation at her old school.
But when Jake's April 1 prank hits KC directly, she begins to think of ways to revenge.
What they didn't expect was that they had so many things in common and they'd become interested in each other, but the revelation of a few secrets can end everything they've built together. Will they be able to forgive themselves and move on?
I loved the story and to be able to read about the other characters from the other books.

Where do I begin?
After falling in love with 'My Fake Valentine' And 'Good Luck Charm' I had barely place for more love.. BUT THEN THIS CAME!
April fools jokes are a thing in my family and this made me get so hyped for this book. I am mostly not a mood reader but this set of books.. I loved it.

And it is made me have a small weak spot for Jake...

Sadly I haven't heared if there is more coming, but i will always have a special place on my (ebook) shelfs (and also my heart). I will definatly 'throw' reviews to my friends about this book. (And in the mean time when they read i'll plan some jokes on them...)

This is April Fools’ Joke, book 3 in the Holiday High series, written by Kellie McAllen. Jake has been a practical joker all through the series. When KC moves to their high school after some traumatizing issues at her previous school, she decides to change her outward appearance. Lots of sneaky not so nice things occur in this book between the males and female and they were meant to be funny and not hurtful. Kellie is able to capture some of the real insecurities of high school kids and help them navigate through that dangerous landscape. It’s a great series and I am enjoying it!

Book 3 in the Holiday High series does not disappoint. KC has been through a lot and decides to switch schools and change herself in the process. Her new tough exterior doesn't have the desired effect tho, when prankster Jake starts to see the real her.

What follows for Jake and KC is an unlikely match that hits numerous road bumps along the way. You cannot help but hope for the best outcome as both Jake and KC are so likable and relatable.

These books are such and amazing escape, they offer young romance at it's best and a plot line to make all adults remember back to their first loves.

A fun read!

Love is nothing to joke about...

Such a fun, flirty romance read that had me laughing and cringing and feeling sorry and sympathy. I felt so sorry for the heroine - what she had to go through was cruel and unforgiving. I just wanted to hug her.

I loved getting to read this book from both the main characters - seeing their motives and intentions and seeing how they fell so each other. So enjoyable to observe them *sigh*

Full of pranks, laughter, drama, revenge, attraction, fun, pain and romance.

Perfect for readers of contemporary romance.

This was a cute story that focused on a prankster, the confused and wronged object of his affection and how a seemingly innocent April Fools joke can go oh so wrong, and turn out to be somewhat humbling. The story is sweet and tugs at your emotions because you find yourself rooting for what initially seems to be an unlikely pairing. It also makes you aware of how tough HS can be, the rivalries, the shenanigans and the bullying, yes bullying. Still, all in all a good story, worth the read, and while you're at it, read the first two as well.

I Adore Kellie McAllen books! Another must read YA romance book. It’s a clean and relatable about HS students. KC is a new transfer student. Her concerns are usual about fitting in and being accepted.
Jake is attracted to her from their first class together.
So easy to relate.

This was a fun book geared towards teenagers. The story is about how sometimes harmless pranks and words can be damaging. I liked how the characters grew in their maturity while dealing with the pranks. KC and Jake made a cute couple. I would recommend this book to teens and to parents that don't mind some swear words or sexual innuendo. Overall this was a cute book. I received an ARC. This is my honest voluntary review.

April Fool's Joke was a new kind of amazing for Kellie! All of the Holiday High Series books have been exactly what I like in romance books. I always enjoy the whole story. April Fool's Joke was just so ... Amazing💛 I liked how it let people know that pranks aren't always funny to everyone. It may be funny to you but that person you just pranked probably feels humiliated, depending on the prank of course. I am definitely looking forward to her next book in the Holiday High Series✨

This has been a really cute and fun series to read. I'm not a huge fan of pranks, but I do love a good sense of humor in people. Sometimes we really need to just laugh. Jack did grow on me though. Ironically, KC was my favorite but then it shifted to Jack. He showed good character development throughout the story. KC was just scared to trust someone again but she came around. I think we can all relate to that to some extent. Great job Kellie McAllen.

I definitely loved this book. It has two main characters to like a lot, and a good amount of drama, emotions and also fun. I was really curious how Jake and KC can make straight all the strings they tangled, and in the end everything turned out really nicely. It was nice to meet again with Mia and Kerri again. I hope there will be more books in the series.

There is one in every class, the class clown. But it is a small step from class clown to practical joker, and for every prankster there is a victim. When Jake's ultimate April fools joke turns into a near death experience, will Jake learn there are limits?
This is a delightful look into the terrors and delights of high school. Funny, romantic, and revolutionary as it explores what girls united can do when empowered by the ultimate humiliation from the opposite sex.

Surprising!

When I started reading this book, I didn’t know what to expect. But very quickly I got enthralled with KC and Jake. I couldn’t wait to see what prank Jake had planned and KC’s reaction. I loved the twists and turns this book had, to which I was looking forward to a solution I didn’t expect or think of when I was hypothesizing about what was going to happen next. Love the book!

Cute and sometimes funny read. Brings back memories of high school. It is a new school for her and a popular boy plays mean april fool's jokes on people. She goes online and creates a profile where she can get back at him. It gets even more interesting from there. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.

Ok, this is just a a “quickie” review. Unfortunately, I’m in in a hospital and asked my husband to post this since I don’t have the time to do better - even though the book definitely deserves it.

Bottom line: five stars. This was one wonderfully fun novel and definitely recommended. It had just what I wanted and was well written and with a great plot and great cast of characters.

Oh what a great addition to this series. I was skeptical because I really didn't like Jake in the last book, but he redeemed himself. It is such a cute story about limits and how something small can really hurt someone, so we should always be careful with no only or words but our actions. Really love it and can't wait to see if there will be more in the series.
