The Lost Files of the MBRC is an anthology of five MBRC short stories--three of which have never before been released.

When Morgan decided to stay employed at the Magical Beings’ Rehabilitation Center, she thought her life might quiet down as she started college and developed her career. She thought wrong.

In between balancing her relationship with Devin the Pook and planning for MBRC domination with her reluctant business partner, Aysel, Morgan chauffeurs around a reclusive Kraken, continues to play the lute at Asahi and Kadri’s annual marriage celebration, and pulls all-nighter study sessions for college. Thankfully, her old friends—like Madeline, Frank, and Frey—are still around to wreak havoc and fun!

[June 2023 Update: Still my favorite in the series but after rereading it with my family I’m bumping it down from a 4 star to a 3 star just because I think that rating fits better. ☺️]

Original Review: This short story collection is honestly my favorite in the entire series. I laughed so much during the first one and then others gave me warm feels and everything in between as we see life for Morgan after the end of book two and beyond through her life. I also got more of a handle on Devin which I’ve found hard in the other books so that was nice to see why Morgan actually liked him.

So glad the author added this as the last book because it really completed the series in a way book two didn’t manage to a satisfying degree.

‼️Content‼️

Language: oh my gosh; dang it; screwed; crap; pervert

Violence: a guy chokes another for insulting a girl

Sexual: a girl is called hot; kissing (not detailed); mild suggestive comments

Drugs/Alcohol: characters club hop but don’t drink any alcohol; wine is drunk at a party

Other: vampires, werewolves, and other magical creatures/beings; magic

My rating: 4 out of 5 stars

This is a fun novella collection that acts as a bit of a sequel to "Goblins Wear Suits," as each of the 5 novellas take place sometime after it.

I enjoyed each novella. My favorites are "Swindlers," and "My Career at the Magical Beings Rehabilitation Center".

What I appreciated most about this novella collections was that each story helped to make this series feel complete.

I'm glad I read "Lost Files of the M.B.R.C".

some really sweet short stories from the MBRC (magical beings rehab centre) series in here. I recommend reading the two main books in the series first however (my life at the MBRC, farewell to the MBRC) as the stories won't really mean anything to you unless you have read them.
They are rather charming stories that tell of some of the things that happen after the 2nd MBRC book, such as (SPOILER!) Morgan's marriage to Devin the Pooka.
worth a read for fans of the series.

A nice ending

I am so glad that I K.M.Shea decided to do the lost files of the Magical beings rehabilitation centre (MBRC) it was really nice to see exactly what happened to Morgan and Devin as they grew older; as well as everyone else in their Magical family, to hear their stories and how they ended up. I quite enjoyed this series and I'm sad to see it go a nice little collection of short stories.

Glimpses at her future

A short read but a terrific one with stories that envelope her engagement, her marriage and the discovery that her daughter is the first female Pooka in history. Great little reads that although sow you exactly where her life is heading and her role at HQ. It also gives an ensight into the future lives of her close friends from the first two books. Great!

Four short stories to help wrap up the story. You get to see glimpses of all your favorites as it focuses on important times in Morgan's life. It starts with Morgan's 21st birthday and ends with learning her child is the first female pooka. Through it all she continues to work at the MBRC, if fact is co-running it by the end.

So much fun

I've enjoyed this world so much and I'm sad it wasn't developed into a longer series. I think this would be perfect for a television series. The characters are so lively and unique and I love the way Morgan seamlessly blends into the MBRC. I'll have to check out more from this author.

Definitely not a stand-alone anthology as you must have read the first two books for these stories to make sense. That said, the stories fill in the future nicely.

loveddd this book. it was so light, funny, and entertaining. it was actually a bunch of mini stories but i love them all. here's what all the mini stories are and the review for it:

1. a magical birthday (5 stars)
it was about Morgan's twenty first birthday. I find this story to be very sweet and cute. so it started when she was busy during her birthday, but her friends forced her to go out and celebrated her birthday. so she brought her to various clubs (21 clubs to be exact) and they were all magical! my favorite was the carousel bar. another outlandish and creative ideas that i actually like! in some of the clubs, Hunter, who was still 20, was not permitted to come in, even in his own club! but after some persuasion from Harrison, he was allowed inside and that's where all Morgan's friends were, giving her a surprise birthday party. HOW CUTE!

2. swindlers (5 stars)
this story was absolutely funny and romantic! it was about how Devin proposed to Morgan. very tricky but romantic too! Morgan was busy with exam so she binged on caffein, meddling with her brain's function and Devin actually use that moment to propose to her and she was unnoticed, so she said yes! the next morning, she saw the ring, and she couldn't take it off so she turned murderous, but Devin sweet talked her into forgiving him by giving her gifts filled with memories of their times together. SO. FUCKING. CUTE!

3. The Marriage Trustee (2 stars)
this one wasn't really impressive or remarkable. yes, it was still funny but the story was just about the parties celebrating Asahi and Kadri's marriage but it was rather boring and didn't make any sense. if all the elves celebrated their marriage like that every year, does that makes the Moonspells to be very busy, celebrating marriages everyday or something? like, Asahi and Kadri were not the only happy couple who celebrated their marriage like that, right? and there was not anything interesting either here, so 2 stars only for this chapter.

4. Release The Kraken (2 stars)
i found this story to be a bit 'untidy'. everyone acted like the Kraken was this very grouchy, demanding, annoying being but he was actually a bit crazy in a fun way. so yeah, this story was about THE kraken came to visit the MBRC and Morgan was assigned to 'please' him (no, not in that weird way, ew). so Morgan came to picked him up, preparing to greet an old, grumpy man, but she got a hot surfer dude instead and she accidentally laughed in his face. it was cute though, when she talked about her days to Krad like they were old friend and she constantly brought him cookies. but it was rather impossible though, that all the elves kept on falling to human. back to the story, fortunately, the Kraken seemed cool even though a bit weird. so after persuading him with her sweet, honey talk, the Kraken eventually agreed to donate for MBRC. not much entertaining or amusing, but i think this was interesting enough addition for the story.

5. My Career at the Magical Being'sRehabilitation Center (3 stars)
this story was very cute, but too many forced, impossible things though. it was several years later when Morgan finally had a kid and she was the administrator in MBRC, co-partnering with Aysel. and then Devin came barging in with their adorable daughter (i'm pretty sure she was a bit evil, like all kids) and for the first time ever (cliche), aysel acted so adorable, playing with the daughter, even harrison too! and then they discovered that the daughter was actually the first female pooka ever, i mean, really? that just sounded so forced. i don't really remember what's the purpose of this story, i only remembered some impression, like Aysel finally married a human girl ( I NEED MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THAT! ) and Devin kept on lapping at Morgan's feet like he didn't have his own life. but it was still a very heart-warming story and kind of adorable. oh! and i really loved it when she signed the certificate in the end, declaring that Krad finally graduated the rehabilitation! improbable but cute!

This collection left me so happy! This was full of amazing stories following the characters that we have grown to know and love throughout the series and I am so glad.

I have always love KM Shea's short stories because they give us a glimpse of her characters living their lives while the plot of her books are not in the way of their lives. We get random and fun encounters, we get to see what they do after the books.

I loved the peek we got at the characters especially the dynamic we got to see with co-administrator Aysel and Morgan!

I will definitely reread these in the future. I would strongly recommend this collection to anyone who enjoyed the MBRC books.

Romance content: Super sweet. Sweet kisses and hugs.

While short, this book provided a fun series of vignettes giving a sneak-peak into Morgan's life after the events of book 2. You get to see Devon's proposal, Morgan dealing with a surfer-boy Kraken, and her ascending to lead the MBRC.

If you enjoyed the first two books, this book is for you. My only criticism is that it is too short. I would have loved a third novel to round out the series, perhaps including some of the moments in these shorts.

Enjoyed this third book in the series too; Liked how it gave completion to many of the characters although the stories were short they were good. It's more like short stories but they are completely connected to the main series in ways of tying up details of relationships with short stories over several years into the future. Really enjoyed the Kraken!

The List Files of the Mage Beings Review

Though I really wish there were more full length books to this series this was a fantastic set of short stories. They nicely wrapped up some loose ends and gave some closure to the series. I will miss these wacky lovable characters but I am so glad I stumbled into this series and I highly recommend it.

I am so glad the author decided to create this set of short stories to accompany this series. Each story gives us a peek into an important day in the characters' lives. It serves well as an epilogue and gives a sense of how their lives play out. Well done.

I absolutely loved this short book and the chapters of what happened after the book has ended. I love that K.MShea does this with most of her books and you can find them on her website usually! I love that this showed a brief glimpse into their life's after the original books have ended. I love that the author has all these in-depth worlds and knows exactly what's going on in each of them before and after! Such a good writer. This book is a great addition to the rest of the series.

This was a fun series to read. I'm sad that it's over so quickly. I hope maybe one day Shea will return back to this world and write more about it. But until then I'm going to check out her other series. Hopefully I enjoy them as much as this series.
