David Williams does feel reminiscent of my childhood reading mr Dahl .

Ova knjiga objašnjava kako se neka djeca ponašaju u drugim zemljama, gradovima itd. Knjiga najgora djeca na svijetu 2 (the world's Worst children 2) ovoj knjizi dajem 5🌟 zato jer me je jako nasmijala tuđim nepodopštinama. I naučila sam iz te knjige da se trebamo truditi i ponašati pristojno.

This book is all about badly behaved children and it's great! There are 10 short stories that are all fun and weird! There is one about a baby called Humbert that eats loads and at the end he ends up eating helicopters and police cars! There is another one about a girl called Stacy and she really wants to be an amazing singer but when she sang, the whole building collapsed! My favourite short story out of the 10 is a boy called Frankie that hates vegetables and fruit. All he wants to eat is chocolate which is very unhealthy. His mum tries feeding him different fruits and vegetables but every time she wasn't looking, he throws it out of the window! Overall, you should definitely read this because it's a very good book and everyone will enjoy it whether you're 8 or 80!

The stories are somewhat silly and realistic, but I suppose that it was intentional...so not much substance nor ground-breaking moral lessons are expected to be deduced from them.
The font use was absolutely amazing....a joyful art work in itself... animated-like and beautiful to experience reading.

I really like this book because you get to feel what the parents are feeling and how they need to get control over there children. At the end of each story, I like how there is a way that they solve the problem of the kid and a short story lesson.

The worlds worst children 2 by David Walliams- 1/10

Ten tales of naughty children and their exaggerated traits. My favourite stories in this book were Harry who never did his homework and Fussy Frankie. I felt the book falls short of the mark with many predictable stories and the humour was quite deadpan. I’ve read the later books in the series and there were generally very similar characters e.g. the spoilt rich kid.

I feel like more relatable children would have been much more appealing. For example:

Fangirl Felicity has a unhealthy obsession with the internationally famous boy band STAR. So much so, she’s used up all of her parents credit cards buying merchandise and autographs . She’s also been suspended multiple times for bullying students who dared criticise her idols. But, will her dreams come true during singing rehearsals hosted by the superstars?

Or Merit Michael, the boy who loves using his knowledge to insult and belittle his teachers and peers. But has Michael bitten off more the he can chew when a new boy in class knows more then him?

I’ve reviewed each story below. Feel free to have a look at my brief review and alternative version after you finish reading each story.

Humbert the Hungry Baby- 1/5

A baby with a endless appetite quickly grows enormous and heads into the city to find more food. A Humourless tale which mainly involves a baby eating everything in sight and growing bigger and bigger. Humbert’s fathers discovery of Humbert not liking mustard is pointless and doesn’t lead to the him being apprehended . It would have been better if the townfolk create a giant running machine for humbert and trick him into boarding it with lots of food. He then becomes smaller and smaller as he runs until he disappears completely.

Stacy superstar- 2/5

A ignorant girl with a unrealistic dream of stardom gets a dose of reality during a audition. It was nice to see David Walliams take inspiration from his time hosting X factor to come up with “the ego factor” including the Tyson Trowel (Simon Cowell). It would have been interesting to see David somehow involved in the show. I liked the joke of Tyson constantly asking Stacey what her name is which we often see during X factor auditions with Simon Cowell.

It would also have been better if Stacy’s father sabotages Tyson Trowels’s earpiece for the show. As a result, Tyson Trowell is told by Stacy’s father that audiences are loving Stacy’s terrible performance. Desperate to please the people watching, Tyson Trowel gives her a million pound record deal. It’s only after Stacey has signed the contract does Tyson realise his mistake. As a result, he is left bankrupt and constantly has to hear Stacey’s terrible singing.

Fussy Frankie 3/5 -

A boy who absolutely hates fruits and vegetables becomes a delicious snack for the same mutated fruit and vegetables he tossed out. I liked the creativity in this story especially with the fruit becoming enormous and exacting revenge on Frankie. I also found Frankie’s chocolate addiction to be quite funny, especially when he eats the chocolate straight out of his mom’s hand 😂. In the ending, it would have been better if Frankie passes out and then wakes up in his bed where he believes it was all just a silly dream. Unbeknownst to Frankie, all the the fruit and vegetables are hiding under his bed waiting to exact their revenge.

Cruel Clarissa- 2/5

A two faced girl who punishes her pet cat is taught a lesson by a the local cat coalition. I liked the deceitful nature of Clarissa as opposed to the other naughty children who were very straightforward and blunt. Blossom and the cats creating a plan was also a good idea but I just felt it could have been more interesting. For example, the cats spread glue all over sleeping Clarissa and then roll her in a heap of cat fur. When Clarissa wakes up her parents throw her out of the house thinking she is a cat. Clarissa is then chased around by stray dogs until a girl finds her and decides to adopt her. However, the girl is cruel to cats just like Clarissa. This makes Clarissa feel remorseful for her previous conduct.

Harry who never ever did his homework- 5/5

A boy who never does his homework changes his mind thanks to a mysterious teacher and some unexpected ancient guests. I really liked the chillingly mystical character of Madame Magna. I also like the fact that Harry actually learns a lesson rather then befalling some terrible demise. Theres a also a swift account of some key historical figures and their roles to educate kids. Only thing I would have added would maybe be Madame Magna leaving the school after teaching Harry to do his homework.

As Harry sits down to do his history homework, he decides that playing games might be better. This is until he sees madame Magna in a victorian photo in the his text book. He looks at it shocked as she suddenly springs to life, blowing her cigar casually. He quickly shuts the book, but when he opens it the picture has magically disappeared.

Gruesome Griselda- 2/5

A gruesome girl with a passion for pranks meets a creepy-crawley demise when her plan backfires. I feel the ending of this story was a little rushed and unexpected. Many of the victims of Griselda’s pranks survived but Griselda unusually didn’t? What would have been better is if Griselda planed to dress up as a insect to fool the headmistress and the girls in her school. Griselda sets her plan into action by ordering a costume online. Without reading the instructions she wears the costume and hides in her headmistress’s cottage. After scaring her witless she then crawls to the school and sends all the girls running in terror.

However, when Greselda tries to remove the costume she realises that she doesn’t know how to! Meanwhile, the headmistress calls a professional bug exterminator. Greselda is soon chased around the entire school by a masked man with a enormous slipper. After some time of hiding and crawling, Greselda is splattered in the canteen all . All that remains is a purple splat in the corner of the canteen of Greselda’s grizzly demise.

Spoiled Brad- 1/5

A spoilt child demands multiple birthdays, presents and cakes until he drowns in his own enormous birthday cake. This was a predictable tale and it was quite obvious that Brad’s untimely misfortune would come from his ever growing parties. I also found it a little unusual that’s brads parent and Hopkins the butler seemed to be uninterested in helping Brad because of his spoilt nature. However, they are then shown to be concerned in the illustration at the end when he’s drowned in the cake.

It would have been a better story if Brad had continuously hosted these outrageously lavish parties. This is until the purchase of a rare chocolate cake made by a cake connoisseur makes Brad’s parents bankrupt. Brad’s parents quickly take the next flight to Hawaii before their son realises. As a result, all the party attendees, butlers, servants turn thier anger on Brad. After he is forced to sell his house, presents, cars and luxury items. Brad also has to get a job washing dishes to pay back all the money he owes for hosting the parties.

Trish the troll- 2/5

A school based adaption of a girls gradual transformation into a troll. It was quite predictable that Trish would become a troll even early on in the story. It would have been more interesting if the school discovers that Trish was the troll writing bad things about everybody. As a result, the headmistress decides to send Trish to the S.T.T (School of terrible Trolls). A school filled with actual slimy, hairy, hateful trolls who constantly trade insults.

Trish thinks it would be a great idea since she didn’t like her school anyways. This is until she realises just how mean the trolls are. No matter how many times she insult the trolls they don’t seem to care as trolls rejoice in insulting each other. Trish quickly begins to have second thoughts about the school, until she is invited to a troll graduation ceremony. It is here she is forcefully given a magic potion that turns her into a troll permanently. She now has to live out the rest of her life in the S.T.T as a hideous ugly troll.

Competitive Colin- 1/5

A boy who loves winning through any means necessary (often cheating) hits gold when invited to play in the olympics. Colins story was more unusual then the rest as he actually ends up winning the tournament with no real problems other then a mad crowd. It would have been better if Collins rocket propelled boots fail to work. As a result, he has to run the race normally. Miraculously, Collin starts to run super fast beating the contestants and even Ike Scarper! Collin wins gold at the olympics and realises a valuable lesson. That he doesn’t need to cheat in order to succeed.

No No Noe- 2/5

A girl who can’t say yes has a difficult moment in school when her peers and teachers learn her weakness. Noe’s story starts out similar to the other worst children who have a defining bad trait. However, I felt that Noes pans out to something happier as she learns to say yes. I especially like the school party In the end which was a fitting finale to the book.

It would have been better if Noe was purposely saying no all the time because she was apparently suffering from Yesphobia ( A phobia of saying the word yes). She’s able to convince the teachers and staff in her school about the made up disease. As a result, she gets to do no homework, have longer breaks and even play computer games whilst her peers have to work.

This is until a schoolboy catches Noe saying yes to Raj the shopkeeper. He tells Raj to next time question Noe about her “yesphobia”. The next day Noe visits the Raj as planned to buy some sweets and Raj questions her about her “yesphobia”. She admits to Raj it was just a made-up disease she used in school in order not to do her homework and make her life easier.

Unbeknownst to Noe, the schoolboy was hiding behind the counter recording her confession. He then takes this to the school headmaster who is shocked. The headmaster then decides a devious plan to get back at Noe.

As Noe arrives to school there is announcement made in the corridors about a teacher having been affected the contagious disease of “yesphobia”. Symptoms include not being able to say yes and saying no repeatedly. Noe decided to ask her best friend what’s happening but she just replies with “no” repeatedly. Noe tries asking the other kids but just hears “no” repeatedly.

Suddenly, a doctor and nurse arrive. “We’re so sorry Noe but we can’t have you spreading your Yesphobia to everyone in the entire school. We will have to do an operation immediately. Noe finally confesses to her actions telling them she can’t have a operation because she made up yesphobia and she never believed it could be real. This is until the doctor and nurse start laughing and remove thier mask to reveal the headteacher and nurse.

Noe feels slightly angry and silly but overall relieved that she didn’t need a operation. She also learns a lesson of not to lie in order to not do her homework.

I sometimes wonder if David Walliams gets sick of the comparisons with Roald Dahl that he gets. It's such an easy comparison to make, however, because both wrote very funny, and yet really very dark stories for children. They don't shy away from the nastiness, and ugliness in life and instead face it head on, and flip it around, and make you laugh along the way. This is a rollercoaster ride through a wide range of truly dreadful children who range from being a fussy eater, to a spoiled brat, to Harry, who never, ever did his homework! Yes, their dark deeds vary in despicableness, and along with dreadfulness galore there are fabulous illustrations, a large variety of fonts, unusual page layouts and a Royal introduction from the Queen...

For long-time Walliams fans, there is a brief appearance by Raj. There's also a delightful cameo for Tyson Trowel (Simon Cowell…) I laughed out loud when we first hear about him: He was a very vain man. Despite being at least ninety years old, Tyson had a strange orange spray-on tan, glow-in-the-dark teeth and a wig that sat atop his head like a crouching badger. This was the kind of man who wore sunglasses inside, in the dark. I particularly enjoyed Trish the Troll as it's always nice to see a bully get what's coming to them! I also enjoyed reading No no Noe and I felt it was an excellent choice for the final story of the book. The stories all felt complete in their own right, so you it's an easy to pick up and put down book. It also means you could just read one aloud for a storytime session, without needing to know anything more from the book.

I did feel a tiny bit uncomfortable in a couple of stories. When the enormously overfed baby is eating his mum, then eating cars and buses, helicopters and planes, it felt on the edge of being both completely ridiculous and rather scary! So you may want to avoid reading that one aloud with younger children. I also wasn't sure about the story where Cruel Clarissa is really very cruel to her pet cat, mainly because my worry was that this sort of cruelty was more within the realms of possibility. The cat gets revenge, and a happy ending, but even so, I felt uncomfortable with the animal cruelty. I should also note, however, that I felt real delight over the revenge that the cat takes, so perhaps that makes everything okay again?!

Mostly, though, the children are just wildly silly, delightfully naughty and they end with a comeuppance, which usually isn't anything you'd expect. The illustrations are in full colour throughout and are up to Tony Ross' usual high standard. There are pictures on almost every page, and they all help in creating character and explaining events. This extra effort in providing a huge number of illustrations pays off, I feel, as it makes this longer length book attractive to that tricky customer, the reluctant reader. It makes the stories easier to read, so they're more accessible for emerging readers who are just moving on from shorter chapter books to something a bit more meaty, and also extremely enjoyable for more confident readers who can appreciate the joy of both the words and the pictures. As a grown up, I found myself wishing that more grown up books were illustrated. There's great skill in teaming the right image with a page of words, and great pleasure in then enjoying that as a reader.

I think this has very wide-ranging appeal, since younger readers in Key Stage 1 can happily enjoy a story read out loud, and then those who are getting up and running with their reading can have a good go themselves at reading a longer book. Then confident readers will probably devour it far too quickly, and immediately go back and read it all again! Late at night, parents can sneak a peak themselves, and go to bed thankful for the knowledge that their own little fast-asleep horrors really could be much more horrible than they are, and actually they should count their blessings that they don't have a Spoiled Brad or Competitive Colin to deal with in the morning!

Although I did enjoy this book, I didn't find it as good as the first. My favourite characters/stories were; Gruesome Griselda, No No Noe & Trisha the Troll. I thought they were brilliant.
One thing I'm really disappointed about though is that Raj doesn't make an appearance till the very last character😢
