The Sex Bucket List

Rate this book
I’m Emerson, and my “to do” list is longer than I’d like. You might wonder what kind of woman comes up with a sex bucket list? Answer — the kind who’s been in a sex drought, has two crazy girlfriends encouraging her, and one too many bottles of wine.

This kind of list requires special skill. And I have just the man in mind to help me. He’s younger. So that checks one thing off my list. And he’s the kind of man every woman should sleep with at least once in her life. The kind of man who knows his way around a woman’s body. And God, I’d like him to know mine.

Armed with new lingerie and a fancy high-tech vibrator, I’m taking charge. Of love, of life, and my libido. How hard can that be? Well, judging by the rate of pole dancing injuries, I might be in trouble.

But how much trouble can one woman get in? Giving your panties to a stranger isn’t illegal in Georgia, is it?

Grab a pen and make your own Sex Bucket List!

The Sex Bucket List was my first read by Prescott Lane and whilst I liked the premise, I didn't enjoy it quite as much as I was hoping to.

"Are you looking to be on my list?"
"I own that list."

Centralised around on Emerson, businesswoman, mum of three and divorcee, this is a woman's quest in rediscovering herself and Lane injects a good dose of real which I very much liked; the trials and tribulations of navigating through life post-divorce with kids who aren't adapting particular well, the guilt that comes with beginning to date again in your forties and letting yourself enjoy a person after spending years with the same man, and the lack of body-confidence that comes with having had three babies and with dating a man a decade younger. But I never really warmed to her because some of her decisions were, to me, rather questionable. I did however, love Mateo, and his presence, patience and gentle honesty.

"It’s time you let someone love you again."

I think my problem was that opportunities were missed--you just have to read Emerson's bucket list at the the end to see what could have been, but page space was instead taken up by her ex-husband and his dramatics. Yes this had a place, and was important to the story and Emerson's journey but not at the detriment of her relationship with Mateo, and when the only sex that has occurred by 60% was between Emerson and ex, not Mateo--although just to clarify, this was prior to her starting her new relationship--it loses points from me.

"Time wasn’t on your list. I hope it’s not the last thing I give you."

There were some nice moments later on between Mateo and Emerson and his patience was something else considering he's faced with kids and an ex-husband making life less than easy, however for me it came too late on. But, looking at the reviews, I'm in the minority here, so don't let my opinion be the only one you consider. I'm sure many readers will enjoy this story.

Emerson Baker is a PR and Marketing exec for her family-owned private commuter airline and a divorced mother of three. She's really not moved on emotionally since her divorce and her ex keeps sending her mixed signals. When she comes across the sex bucket list she and her two friends created on a buzzed girls night out some time ago, Emerson decides to take action just as the handsome Mateo Reyes sends her a clearer signal about his intentions.

I absolutely loved this story! Emerson is the 40-something woman you know, trying to make it all work and have her children not suffer because of divorce. You get her guilt, sacrifice and loneliness along with her need to still be seen as a woman. Her story is hilarious at times, heartbreaking in some moments and still incredibly sensual at others. That bucket list wasn't so much about sexual exploration as it was Emerson's dive into self awareness. It helped her clarify her own needs and how well they were or were not met during her marriage and after.

While this was an emotional trek, it was very definitely a sexy and erotic journey by Emerson as she pursues the younger Mateo. The issues addressed are very real and honestly portrayed. Ex-husband Ryan offers a strong challenge and Mateo provides a compelling (and oh so lovely) contrast. It's not so much about choosing the best man as it was choosing the best man for Emerson.

The author's signature skill at character development is strongly imprinted in this story. She's an auto-read for me because I know I'll get inside the characters and be conflicted by the issues as I did with Emerson. She's far from perfect but so likable you'll not want to let her go. I found it difficult to put this one down and loved everything, and I mean everything, about the book. Highly recommend.

Overall Opinion: This was a pretty light, enjoyable read. I didn't expect to be wowed tbh, and I really wasn't. I did, however, expect it to be hotter! With a title and premise like this one, I was hoping for some fun scenes of them working on the list. While there are some scenes that crossed out items, they are definitely pretty tame and not what I was expecting. I didn't fully feel their connection either. I get the lust part, but love? Not so much. The h was a little neurotic, and the H was pretty perfect -- so overall, it was ok. I didn't love it and I didn't hate it either.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Emerson and Mateo's story. Emerson finds an old sex bucket list that her and her friends made one drunken night after she had divorced her husband, and decides to start actually living and crossing some things off the list. Mateo is a younger man that works at her office, and she has always admired him from afar. When he finds her list, he decides he is just the man to help her with it. There is some ex and family drama, some old baggage to deal with, and some sexy times...but they do get a HFN ending.

POV: This was told in Emerson's POV (with the epilogue being in Mateo's). I think it would've been nice to have more sections in his POV tbh.

Overall Pace of Story: Good. I never skimmed and I thought it flowed well.

Instalove: No, they've known each other for years and it takes a while to develop stronger feelings.

H rating: 4.5 stars. Mateo. He was pretty freaking amazing! I'm not quite sure what drew him to the h, but she should thank her lucky stars!

h rating: 3 stars. Emerson. She was ok. I wanted her to stop overthinking things quicker.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Decent. They have some decent tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes

Safe sex: Yes and no

OW/OM drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: Yes

Cheating: No

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: I really wanted a farther jump ahead into their future and to get a solid HEA with some big commitments, but we get what I would call a HFN ending

How I got it: It was part of my kindle unlimited subscription.

Safety: This one is probably Safe with exception for most safety gang readers

I want a man who wants me.
Not one who needs to think about it.

Loved this book.
It wasn’t a usual romance with fictional characters, magical to-the-best transformations and unrealistic twists. It was raw and real.

The book wasn’t perfect, but this made it perfect for me.

Heroine, 40+. Hero 30+. Age-difference approx. 10 years.
Loved both.

I highly appreciate and support the books with mature heroines.
It was awesome to read about love story of an adult woman.

There is life and love after 40! There is a lot of hot sex after 40!
Damn, many things get better with age and a real woman is one of them!

Absolutely awesome hero!!! 5+ stars!
That’s my role as the man in your life. To guard your heart.
No one will hurt you again. Not on my watch.

I wouldn’t say no to him ;-)

It was so sweet how he waited for her for years, how he wooed her, how patient he was. I adored how uncomplaining he was with the kids.
You still don’t get it.
Get what?
That I’ll always give you what you need. No matter the cost to me.

Personal thanks to the author for realistic kids!
I often read about so perfect kids that I ask myself if my parents hated me as a child because I was never ever so well-behaved and sweet. Well, the kids in this book were real, with all their faults but also with all their sweetness.

5 Super Mom Stars

I was really surprised by The Sex Bucket list. First off, this isn’t a smutty book. It’s a good romance book with a light-hearted feel to it. If you are a mom, you will completely get this book. There are so many times I was thinking the same thing the Heroine was doing or thinking.

I didn’t think I would like this book because it has an older woman (in her 40’s) and the Hero is younger (in his 30’s). I also think the whole sex list is kind of silly, but the book got so many great reviews, I gave it a go. I’m also not a huge fan of rom-coms.

Within the first chapter, I knew I would love this book. It’s really funny, quirky and has many laugh out loud moments. If you are a mom, you will get this book. As a mom, you put your kids first in everything and of course, there is nothing more difficult than being divorced and trying to move forward.

I found this book really realistic and I love all the characters. I even liked the ex-husband, Ryan. It’s not really a love triangle book, but I love the tension Ryan adds.

Emerson is a strong working mom, but after divorcing her husband she isn’t feeling too pretty, which makes sense. She’s kind of trying to get her groove back, so her and her girlfriends write this cute sex bucket list. No, it’s nothing kinky, it’s just a list of things she should try. As she starts to tackle her list, she realizes how much she likes her co-worker Mateo.

I understand why Mateo had to be younger. Mateo is the cool, single guy. Even though he’s about ten years younger than Emerson, he’s very mature and I couldn’t see him any other age but a young guy in his 30’s. You will swoon over him because his character is really fierce, loyal and sexy!

Overall, this book took me by surprise. It just goes to show, reviews count. Because of all of the reviews I took a chance on this book and I can add another author on my favorites list.

The Sex Bucket List
is the first book I've read by Prescott Lane. I must admit, the blurb was what drew me into reading this book. For some reason, I was really anticipating a more romantic comedy than what's here. This book has a lot more emotional depth than humor, centering equally on not only a woman getting the ole cobwebs out but a woman also moving on emotionally after divorce.

There's a certain level of the feels with The Sex Bucket List. Emerson is a divorced mother of three. A successful executive for a commuter airline company owned by her family, she balances divorced motherhood and career. What's least on her many lists of to-do's is focusing on time for herself. On a crazy night with friends, she writes up a Sex Bucket List. She just didn't expect her hot coworker Mateo, head of security for their company, to find it. And to make it his job to check off each box for her....

Mateo has had the hots for Emerson for years. Never being the right time, he's waited in the shadows for his chance with her. He's not intimidated by her ex-husband or three children. He's willing to put himself out there for love with Emerson. Maybe this Sex Bucket List is his ace in the whole.

This book felt to me so much like it was from a series. I felt like secondary characters had their stories already told but, alas, no such books were written for Gage/Layla or Dash/Poppy. I think her relationship with those two girlfriends were the comedic highlight of the book for me. I found their banter endearing, a sisterhood of sorts.

I also felt like Mateo and Emerson had some history I wasn't privy to. Their early days of first feeling that connection could've been expounded on a bit more. I felt like there wasn't much of a start, but more so we picked up with them already having feelings for each other...like I'd skipped the beginning of their story. This left me a bit disconnected as we progressed in their love story.

The Sex Bucket List delves rather deeply into the life of a split family. The torn feelings for both the kids and the parents. My heart broke for those kids... the pain of watching their parents move on with other people when they just wanted them together.

I'd love to see books surrounding those secondary couples but I sense they've already found their happily ever after. I'd have loved a Dash and Poppy book. She's a crazy one. I suspect that would be more of a romantic comedy.

There's a reason why I love Prescott Lane's books so much.

It's because she gives us the most brutal and honest truth in her stories. You can only relate to her characters. They make mistakes, they do stupid things, just like you and me. But they make amends, accept their flaws and try right their wrongs... Just like you and me.

Emerson is a divorced mum of three. I am not divorced and I have only one kid. And yet, it sounded like Emerson's actions resonnated in me. Not all of them but I understood everything she did, and most of all WHY.
Emerson is such a great mum, always thinking about her kids, she's selfless, devoted, but sometimes it just gets too much.

She's a mother but also a woman and she takes the resolution to be the woman she wants to be. Being a parent doesn't equal to being a parent ONLY. Be it a single one or not, your desires and dreams should NOT be forgotten.

The Sex Bucket List is such a beautiful story. I really want to tell you how much I loved this and that but that would be spoiling it for you. I really want to tell you how much I loved Mateo but I won't because his words and actions will speak for themselves. What I really want to tell you though is to read this book. And yes you can thank me later! :)

What I want to say is, that this book is not only a story about a couple but more importantly about a woman. AND WHAT A WOMAN.

I absolutely ADORED this book! This sweet, sexy, and unique romance had me laughing one minute, and tearing up the next. It was so raw, real, and it squeezed my heart on multiple occasions. It was so refreshing to read a story where many women today could relate to this vulnerable, yet strong heroine. THE SEX BUCKET LIST was such an entertaining and fulfilling love story. I know for a fact, that this will go on my re-read shelf because it's the kind of story that will lift you up on the worst of days. I LOVED IT!

"Watch," he commands. "Watch how good we are together. Never forget."

An absolute delectable read, THE SEX BUCKET LIST, will reach and inspire readers of all ages, to NEVER settle. It's NEVER too late to find yourself or to start over. Go back to college. Apply for that dream job. Date the younger man. Just DO YOU. Don't be ashamed. Open your heart again, and follow it wherever it takes you. Open yourself up to MORE and NEVER be afraid to be yourself.

After turning the very last page, I had the biggest smile on my face and such a lightness surrounding my heart. I wanted to reach into the pages and give Emerson and Mateo a huge hug. Their newfound love gives me something to strive for...something to hold onto. I raise my glass to you Ms. Lane, for bringing us readers such a beautiful romance full of friendship, love, and passion. Here's to finding my very own Mateo someday!

Mateo, Mateo,Mateo;

I've just finished this book and I don't think I have ever swooned so much while reading a book. Amazing.

I absolutely adored Emerson's journey, so many true to life dilemmas with emotional life choice moments. I absorbed the plot like it was water & I was coming from a drought

About the plot:
Emerson is a divorced mother of 3 who completely puts her children first, she is a woman with body image issues, having 3 children will do that, she's funny, caring, honest and consumed with guilt over the end of her marriage and the effect it had on her children, Emerson is a also a woman who gave it her all for over 20 years with her marriage and despite the failure plods on still continues to put others before herself she's a mother a friend and a sister.

Mateo has observed Emerson, patiently waited, longed for a woman he believes was made for him. Mateo is patient in love, wise and so damn good with his words you'll find yourself melt like his words are fire.

Emerson and Mateo both work with each other and Mateo decides Emerson is finally ready he's seen a recent change as though Emerson is ripe for the picking, ready to live again and its time to make his move.

Emerson
Our eyes lock on each other and I'm not sure what I'm enjoying more, losing myself in this man or watching him lose himself in me.

The sex bucket list evolves when during a drunken girls night with her two friends they unanimously decide its about time Emerson ends the dry spell and the sex bucket list is made.

Weeks later Mateo finds the list on Emerson's desk from when she had carelessly left it there.

In true alpha style Mateo declares every single item on the list is reserved for him.

Not only is The sex bucket list filled with hot sexy times and humour it's brilliantly balanced with real life issues.

The ex who suddenly decides he wants Emerson back, such inappropriate timing I thought adding a little angst and just when Emerson is finally finding herself and feeling love again with Mateo.

Emerson:
People are like puzzles. Everyone has certain edges, some sharper than others and some pieces fit together and some just don't.

The sex bucket list is one of my favourite reads this year, it's different, it hits home, it's a captivating read & I loved it along with Prescott Lane's brilliant words & characters.

Sometimes you have to hold on tight before you can totally let go.

I absolutely loved The reason for me and I am definitely looking forward to more from this author.

I'm a diverse reader from MC, dark to swoon-worthy romantic, the sub genre doesent matter to me what matters is if the writings right and I feel like I'm there with the characters then I'm hooked and this was definitely right.

Read this book! I think by now you get where I’m coming from and reading this book has to be a necessity otherwise you’ll be missing out on something really good. Prescott Lane takes you on a heartfelt journey and shows you what it’s like to be an EVERYDAY woman that has flaws, loves hard, and is trying to do something for herself for once in her life.

“I want a man who knows he wants me. Not one who needs to think about it.”

Two years ago, Emerson said goodbye to a marriage that lasted twenty years. That marriage gave her three loves of her life and even though she was devasted that it came to an end, her kids were remained the highlight of her life. Trying her best to give them stability, Emerson and her ex have remained a united front for their kids and they’re determination to make it work makes things a little bit easier. Getting back out there in the dating scene? That’s a different story. Especially when you have a suitcase of doubts and fears like Emerson does but what better way to put yourself out there than having your very own Sex Bucket List?

“Are you looking to be on my list?”

I own that list”.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Being the PR and Marketing Executive for her family’s company, Emerson is a very busy woman but having a list like hers, she’s made it her mission to be selfish for once in her life and do something for her. Seeing the very sexy Head Security at her office is nothing new but one conversation in a elevator will not only change her life, but her sexual awakening. Mateo is a man that’s going to own her and that list and when have a man like that, your only response is yes please!!

I’ve read a lot of books over the past few years and one of my favorite thing is that when I’m reading a story, I like to connect with the heroines. Emerson was such a relatable character in everything. From having to play referee with three kids, to dealing with teenage boys, I loved knowing that this woman was just a regular person that’s trying to balance out everything and she did it sober! Now I cringe knowing that in the next five years I’m going to have a teenage son of my own and I’m gonna need top shelf liquor because lord help me!

If you’re looking for a funny sexy read, this is for you guys.

It's so refreshing to read a story about a hot MILF for a change! Sure we love a hot Alfa male, who doesn't?! But it's nice to change gears!!

"When you're young and use the "L" word, it's a lot simpler. I think love in general is simpler when we're young. Perhaps as we age, we complicate love--and everything else--so unnecessarily."

We read The Sex Bucket List based on the recommendation from a friend and dove in without reading the blurb. We love going in blind!!

Well, Prescott Lane has some writing chomps! She is a new to us author and we truly enjoyed The Sex Bucket List. If you are looking for a fun and sexy yet different story this is it!!!

You have to meet Emerson and join her on her sexcapades winky face... We are sure we all made some kind of bucket list in the past, they are fun! But what can be more fun than a Sex Bucket list? Nothing!!!

"People are like puzzles. Everyone has certain edges, some sharper than others."

Prescott Lane took us on a satisfying adventure of a woman who finds herself at crossroads in her life. It's passionate yet filled with humor and love and we enjoyed every minute of it.

"There's an art to loving someone. And just like real art, it's subjective. One person's way of showing love doesn't work for everyone. It's delicate. And just like real art, sometimes you mess up and have to start over. Sometimes the pieces can be saved, and sometimes it can't."

The Sex Bucket List by Prescott Lane
4 stars!!!

“I want a man who knows he wants me. Not one who needs to think about it.”

Prescott Lane dazzled me with a hot pink flirty cover and a synopsis that caught my attention and the story within did not disappoint. The older generation are often a deprived bunch in the literary world and I love nothing more than reading a story about someone in my age group and this one definitely ticked that box.

Emerson had only ever had one partner, from high school to married life and three kids, her life revolved around her husband and her family. Having been divorced now for two years, her personal life is still barren and she has made no attempt to rectify that, however, coming across her “Sex Bucket List” that she wrote, while inebriated, with the help of her liberal sister-in-law and best friend Emerson decides that now is maybe the time to live a little. It is finally time to move on.

“It’s time you let someone love you again…”

The Sex Bucket List is Emerson’s voyage of re-discovery. Not only falling in love once again, but also learning to love herself. Prescott Lane delivers with honesty the trials and tribulations of life post-divorce, dealing with the ex-husband and appeasing three young kids that really don’t understand the why’s. Juggling being a single mum all the while holding down a job in a different state and spreading her life extremely thin.

Emerson was a woman who loved and loved hard, she would do anything for anyone and also put everyone else before herself. Emerson was far from a door-mat but she just had that huge heart that had an overabundance of love to give and she did so selflessly. She wasn’t perfect, but she was honest, she worked hard and she loved her family.

“You don’t need to say anything.”

Putting yourself out there once again when you have never had to before brings with it its own set of fears and insecurities, the “mum” body, age, wrinkles, everything the younger generation doesn’t have to think about, especially when the man that wants your attention is over a decade younger. Some men though are not fickle, they see you for the person you are, your heart and your brain, the body itself being immaterial and our Matteo was just that guy.

“Time wasn’t on your list… I hope it’s not the last thing I give you.”

Matteo was adorable and had the patience of a saint, both with Emerson, her ex and her kids. Matteo was a man that had been biding his time, waiting for the signs that the woman he was hopelessly in love with was ready and open to even consider being with someone else. He worked hard to allay Emerson’s fears and prove that he was genuine and this only made me love him all the more.

“…And I want you to remember it the next morning, the soreness from me burying myself deep inside, the feel of my cock slipping in and out, the orgasms I plan on giving you, the way I’m going to kiss every damn inch of your body. I don’t want you numb with alcohol. I want you tingling with need.”

With some hilarious scenarios, some great banter and a realistic and honest plot, this book has something for everyone, an honest romance and the true meaning of a family that sticks together and are always there for one and other. This was an easy read for me, that I flew through at the rate of knots and didn’t want to end. With some fantastic side characters that will have you laughing in no time, this was light-hearted with very little angst. A great feel good read.

“You’ll find me a very generous man.”

Emerson is a now single mom to 3 kids after divorcing Ryan two years ago. Shortly before her divorce, Emerson made a drunken sex bucket list with her friends. She stuffed it away in her purse and forgot about it. That is, until she randomly stumbles upon it now. And after being completely single the past two years, Emerson thinks it’s time to maybe fulfill all her sexual fantasies.

Mateo is Emerson’s younger and wildly attractive coworker who starts taking interest in her. And when he gets ahold of her sex bucket list, he vows to check off each item with her. Emerson wasn’t expecting Mateo to complete her list, let alone completely capture her heart. But he’s managed to do both, making Emerson believe that she is worthy of love—and good sex.

The Sex Bucket List by Prescott Lane is a fun romance with a heroine in her 40s, which I found so refreshing. I was expecting this one to be a little steamier, considering the name, but it was a little on the tame side. I really loved Mateo’s character—his kind spirit, patience, sexy demeanor. He and Emerson made a great pair. 4/5 stars.

5 "I notice everything about you." Stars

I have to say that I am so disappointed with myself. I have never read a Prescott Lane book and I just don't understand why I haven't. If everything she does is like this, I will be living in Prescott Lane heaven when I make it to her backlist. Seriously, this book is perfect.

The Sex Bucket List is everything a woman should do to feel in control of her body and sexuality. This list is so much more than checking off a few random items. It's about owning you and being comfortable in your own skin. It's about acceptance--even when it seems like it's not.

Emerson has been divorced for two years, yet can't seem to move on. Stumbling upon the Sex Bucket List she wrote after her divorce, she decides it's time to put this list into action.

Mateo. Well, I don't know what I can say about Mateo other than this man is perfect. And not even annoyingly so. He's sweet, kind, loving, giving, and protective.

Emerson and Mateo have worked together for years, but other than noticing Mateo as the sexy eye candy that he is, she's never given him much thought. Until she senses he's flirting with her. And it really goes out the window when he finds that Sex Bucket List she left on her desk.

Chemisty? Check.

"I need to know if he fucks as good as he looks."

Poppy is the life of this party. Emerson's friend and co-worker, she's hoping Emerson will do what no one seems capable of doing: Mateo.

I thought I was getting funny and light. And I did get some of that, but I also got deep and meaningful. I got what it's like to fall out of love with one man and what it's like to fall in love with someone new. I got what it's like to start a relationship when you didn't think you could give that part of yourself to someone again.

"That's my role as the man in your life. To guard your heart."

so good!

Ok so this was such a fun read.

I decided I needed to bring my GR tbr list down so when I seen this I decided to start with this and I am so glad I did.

Emerson is a divorced mom to 3 kids. She’s on good terms with her ex husband but the split still hurts her. I felt so much for this woman but her reason for the split was reasonable, it was valid and she deserves so much better and better comes in from of the handsome coworker, Mateo.

Mateo has liked Emerson since the moment his eyes landed on her but knowing she was unavailable had him keeping his mouth shut and looking from a far but when a time comes he jumps at the chance not wanting to have any regrets.

Her sex bucket list being found by Mateo only sparks the chemistry I knew would be there and it’s been so much fun reading especially seeing how happy she become.

I absolutely loved how awkward and funny this was.

I was not a fan of the part near the end and Emerson just annoyed me, a lot but in the end I just loved it all.

This author has a good writing style and I would love to read more work in the future.

The Sex Bucket List by Author Prescott Lane is an over 40, older woman, younger man, romance novel.

“I want a man who knows he wants me. Not one who needs to think about it.”

Emerson's marriage to the love of her life ended, but she can't seem to move on. Finding out things about her ex, it spurs her to examine her life. It also doesn't hurt that she runs across a special list made in the company of her friends, Layla and Poppy. Now, what to do with the list…that’s where a special man comes in.

“That’s my role as the man in your life. To guard your heart.”

I am a huge fan of Author Prescott Lane's writing. It seems with every book her writing becomes more exceptional than the last. The Sex Bucket List was absolutely the perfect mix of comedy and drama, giving me all the feels. Emerson was an absolute over-40 wonder. Being this age myself, I was happy to see a story that gave a vibrant and independent woman a second chance at finding herself and love. Her growth in the story was very much what I have seen in life with other people in this age category and helped give it that realistic feel. The person who became her better half in the story was AMAZING!! Mateo. Omg! Holy hotness! He showed up in this book and nearly caused my Kindle to implode. Is this man even real? Fortunately for Emerson, he was. Lucky lady! Mateo was attentive to her every need, but also carried a measure of authority that made Emerson feel protected and treasured *swoon*.

I have to mention one of my other favorite parts of the story. There has never been a better female trio than Emerson, Layla, and Poppy. The best of times and the worst of times, these ladies stuck together, challenged one another, and ALWAYS had each other covered...in all things.

"Every woman needs to know her man will fight for her, protect her, go to battle to keep her..."

If you are looking for a story with a hot male lead, strong heroine, electric chemistry. and priceless love, you NEED this book!

“You’ll find me a very generous man."

Emerson this girl has made me laugh out loud, I have cried with her and fallen in love along side of her.
When all you have ever known is mediocre and not much to write home about and a night fuelled with alcohol and the friends you love the most leave you with not only a hangover but a "sex bucket list " you know it's time to start living, to open new doors and try new things..... who gives a dam if your not 20 any more, it's your life and it's time to live, but for Emerson it's not that easy.

Ryan oh that man I mean seriously too little too late springs to mind although you want to scream at him, I really felt for him, you could feel how much he loved Emerson and with a major dose of you don't know what you've got till it's gone, what will the future hold?

Mateo, this man is something to write home about I mean seriously this man will do anything to make sure Emerson is ok, that she has all she needs and wants and the acceptance that sometimes you just need time. This man melted my heart.

The story flowed effortlessly, from the first page you are drawn into this story and find your self laughing out loud as you relate whole heartedly to what's going on I mean seriously every woman should have a sex bucket list, every woman should learn it's ok to take time for yourself and most of all you need to love yourself.
This has been a first read from Prescott lane and will not be the last.
A stunningly written take time for yourself 5 stars

WOW!! What a read this book turned out to be. I just love it when a book contains everything. When you go from laughing so hard you cry and then sob on the next breath, you know that this book is completely worth the ride and what a ride it was.  I am so glad this book was exactly what it said on the tin.

The chemistry that run through this book was off the chart. Mateo and Emerson were amazing, the game of cat and mouse was a dangerous game to play with a list like Emerson's. This book contained so many great characters that I loved reading about. The children were great, the Ex (Gah, don't get me started) Her friends and family made this story completely what it is. The way you can relate to the character is brilliant. It is very rare to read a book with characters in my age demographic and it was refreshing to say the least.

I so recommend reading this book and Prescott Lane has fast become a favourite author of mine. I can't wait for more of this great story

Favorite Quotes:

When we got married, I made sure to scratch out the obey part in the standard vows, and I know there wasn’t a part about promising to kill my soul, either.

Hard lesson to learn – not every woman can work a pole. I dislocated my big toe. Honestly, who dislocates a toe? It hurt like a mother when the doctor popped it back into place. At least my doctor was cute, but unfortunately, she was also a woman.

Some people call it sexting, but I think textual relations has a nice ring to it. Either way, it’s good for the soul.

Wait! You can’t drink when you breastfeed? … This pregnancy and baby thing keeps getting worse and worse.

There’s an art to loving someone. And just like real art, it’s subjective. One person’s way of showing love doesn’t work for everyone. It’s delicate. And just like real art, sometimes you mess up and have to start over. Sometimes the piece can be saved, and sometimes it can’t.

My Review:

After only reading two of her books, I enthusiastically and unequivocally adore Prescott Lane and want to follow her around like a rabid fangirl. I do believe I could read her work every day and never tire of her witty word-craft. Her humor is crisp and clever; her writing is amusing, smart, observant, and keenly insightful; and her characters are endearingly flawed and knowable. I quickly fell in love with Mateo; he was a god among men and the most perfect and patient of boyfriends. More, please!

According to reviews too realistic, sex with hero just on the last third of the book, cheating (I see as it is). And (ex)husband who starred in the 1st sex scene with h. Just too real life everyday routine that honestly I saw it happened with my cousin. Her kids were 17 and 15 and her boy friend was 19 years younger. They're still together for 5 years now.
So, I watched the reality show. Lol

It was an okayish read. I'm okay with reading another Prescott Lane novel but I'm not sure I'll be looking forward to it.

Just meh....

***5 ‘I’ll Always Give You What You Need’ Stars***

The title was the lure, I mean who wouldn’t at least pause and consider reading the blurb when the title of a book is “The Sex Bucket List”?, If nothing else you know your damn curious to find out what is on the list. But it was the blurb that was the hook: A woman looking to love herself again and a man more than willing to help her get there. There was no way I could pass that up and I loved every second of it! It was sweet, smexy and real. It had me swooning, laughing and growling in frustration as Emerson took the steps to find her own happy once again.

I loved Emerson. She’s made mistakes and has punished herself unmercifully, and somewhat unjustly IMHO, for them but is a warm and loving person who simply wants everyone to be happy. I could empathized with her insecurities and the war over if it was selfish of her to want her own slice of happiness. Mateo, I absolutely adored. This man is absolute book boyfriend material. He’s got that whole dominant alpha male vibe and yet has the patience of a saint and it’s a damn panty dropping mix. He’s a man who knows exactly what he wants and will fight for it, but not at the cost of hurting anyone in the process.

Emerson and Mateo’s journey to their HEA was definitely a bumpy one, but absolutely satisfying in the end. I’m not going to go into detail over every little thing, especially since they are laid out in the description except for the fact that her ex-husband is an asshat ~ I just have to put that out there, but will say that everything was handled realistically. The issues they faced were ones people go through every day and sometimes there is no simple solution, you just have to weigh the pro’s and con’s and make the best decision for all involved. But I loved Emerson and Mateo together. There was an honesty and openness to their relationship that had me rooting for them and they were pretty damn smexy.

This is my first read by Prescott Lane and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was hooked from the first chapter and found myself totally immersed in the story. While there were moments where I didn’t agree with Emerson, there were more where I was nodding in agreement or laughing because I’d’ve done the same thing she was, or had. The characters were all well written and brought a lot of depth to the story. Layla and Poppy were my favorites, though I wanted to strangle Poppy more than once and I thought the kids and their reactions were spot on. What I love and respect the most out of this story is that we don’t get the perfect fairy tale ending we get an ending that is real and satisfying.

The Sex Bucket List is my first book by Prescott Lane. I wanted to read it because of the title. I was expecting a hot, sexy story ...

Don't get me wrong I enjoyed reading Emerson's story but it wasn't what I expected. Her story was real, raw and intense. In the Sex Bucket List, Emerson is a divorcee, mother of 3 who wants to get her life back on track. We follow Emerson in her new life , full of obstacles, challenges and uncertainty.

" I'm the queen of list making. It helps me keep some semblance of order in my life. Those of you with kids and a job and countless after-school activities know what I'm talking about. "

She is done waiting for the father of her children to take her back. One drunken night with her friends led to Emerson's writing her own sex bucket list.
Mateo is a strong alpha male who has always been attracted to Emerson.

" the man's is God's gift to women."

The attraction between them is sizzling. Mateo made my heart melt several times. The connection between them is undeniable- Mateo makes Emerson feels alive again.

" That's my role as the man in your life. To guard your heart."

However, Emerson's comes with 3 children and an overbearing ex-husband. While Mateo accepts Emerson's past and wants to be part of her life and family, things are not that easy from Emerson's side.

" All moms feel torn- torn between their work in and out of home, between their duties as a wife and as a mother, between being in the boardroom and in the classroom as room mom. "

I really felt all the emotions that the children were experiencing- Connor broke my heart. The Sex Bucket List is not a light romantic comedy - It a story that show the struggle of a family post divorce but essentially the struggle of a woman who forgets to feel and just think...

Very poignant story , beautifully written.

Emerson is stuck. She's still mourning a failed marriage, yet ready to move on with her life. But it's not just her, her children are having a hard time moving forward too. Now after two years, her ex-husband is starting to come around more and acting as if they have chance of getting back together. The thing is, Emerson has met someone... Mateo. So what if he's younger than her and her kids aren't all that happy about her starting to date. But it's time for Emerson to finally find herself and the way Mateo makes her feel, she hasn't felt that way in a long, long time.

Mateo has been waiting. Waiting for Emerson to finally be open to what he has to offer her. And when he finds her "Sex Bucket" list on her desk one day, it's the perfect opening to finally get Emerson to let down her guard and re-open her heart. But will Mateo and Emerson be able to survive everything that comes flying at them from family, friends, her ex and the kids?

I fell in love with Mateo from the start. He is smart, sexy and patient. I felt an instant connection with Emerson. The fears and joys of motherhood, being a wife, being a lover and just being yourself, hit home with me. This was a fun, flirty, sexy book full of heart.

The Sex Bucket List by Prescott Lane
Standalone Contemporary Romance
I grabbed The Sex Bucket List by Prescott Lane as soon as I saw that it was a divorced woman in her forties. From the title, cover, and the original blurb, I totally expected a romantic comedy. And while there are a few funny lines, I would not call this a romantic comedy. I am actually very torn on this book. I wanted to love it so much, and there was a lot I did love, but some things didn’t really work for me.

I really liked the heroine, Emerson. She is a forty-something mom of 3 kids. She is amicably divorced for two years. In the beginning of the story, I get the impression that she would take her ex back in a hot second. I think a big part of it was loneliness, but to me, it seemed like they gave up on their 20 year marriage too soon.
“One of the most difficult things to get used to when Ryan moved out was that I didn’t have anybody to share things with. I’d see some silly news story or hear some gossip about a friend, and I’d want to tell him—but I couldn’t. He was gone. It’s the strangest feeling to go from sharing everything with someone to sharing nothing.”

Her marriage was having some issues for years before the split, but to me, they just sounded like issues most 20 year marriages have, the spark and thrill was gone. But the big thing was, he didn’t fight for her.
“I am worth fighting for. There just might be someone who thinks I’m good enough the way I am, who doesn’t say I’m selfish, dramatic, overly sensitive, nagging, bitchy, or crazy.
Your day’s made by a total stranger. If only your husband ever looked at you like that, the way he used to look at you.”

But it seemed to me they never tried to fix their marriage before abandoning it over one stupid mistake. They have three kids together, they should have worked to try to repair the damage.

Mateo has worked in security for Emerson’s family airline and has always wanted her. But he’s been a very patient man. Let me tell you, Mateo is so freaking perfect and patient and amazing (and younger), I’m ready to leave my life for him!
"I notice everything about you."

When Mateo finds a Sex Bucket List that Emerson had written on a drunk night out with the girls, he decides it’s time to make his move.
"Are you looking to be on my list?"
"I own that list."

As soon as Mateo makes his move, the ex is back, realizing what he gave up, but it may be too little too late, because Mateo is pretty much ANY woman’s dream come true.

Her kids can see what’s happening, and they are NOT happy. They, of course, want mom and dad back together, and if it weren’t for Mateo, they might get their wish.
“There’s something to be said for seeing your kids happy,”

The Sex Bucket List was a love triangle almost the entire book. It was less of a romance, and more of a woman moving on after divorce, boosting her own self esteem, and looking for the love she really deserves. The thing was, while I liked her, I never felt like I really got to know anyone beyond the superficial. Mateo was ridiculously perfect, but I never really felt a real connection. Why did he want this woman with so much baggage? The epilogue from his point of view helped, but I just never felt completely sucked in.

I have to say, that maybe my personal situation affected how I felt about the book. I’ve been with my husband for 30 years total. We have had our ups and downs, so some of the things she mentions made me sad to realize that maybe my marriage needs some work. We had broken up a couple of years ago, and I can easily see how a perfectly charming guy could have swept me off my feet at that time, when I was lonely and down on myself. But we did work things out, and I’m so happy we did, and I'm happier than ever.

The Sex Bucket List took me a week to read, and I was never really sure who I wanted her to end up with. I mean how do you compare a new, exciting, sexy younger man who is offering to make every dream come true, with your ex who wasn’t willing to fight for you, and didn’t make you feel desired enough, but is the father to your three children? The man that you can still have a great time as a family with? The man that is willing to try again?

Likes:

•I liked that she was a mom in her 40s.
•The kids’ reactions were very realistic.
•Some funny lines, though this isn’t a comedy.
•I really liked Emerson and could totally relate to her.
•Funniest line in the book: “He cups my breast in his hand, probably because he had to dig it out of my armpit.”

Dislikes:

•I was never 100% sure who to root for.
•I felt like this was part of a series and I missed the introduction of all the side characters in another book. (They were, but the books are supposed to be standalone)
•Some of it may have hit too close to home for me personally.
•I felt like I never really got to know Ryan or Mateo, nor did I see why Mateo loved her.
•I expected a sexy MILF comedy from the cover and the original blurb. There was barely any sex, and not much comedy at all.
•I got more of an HFN over an HEA.
•We didn’t even know what was on the list till the very end, and didn’t see the list fulfilled.

The Down & Dirty:

If you love the books where an older mom moves on after a divorce, you may love The Sex Bucket List by Prescott Lane. There isn’t a woman in the world who could resist a patient, perfect alpha like Mateo. But I’m not sure this was a romance as much as a woman finding herself and putting herself before her kids. This is not the sexy comedy I thought it would be, it was emotional and thought provoking, and with a love triangle throughout the book (no cheating), I never really knew who to root for. Some of it forced me to see some negative in my marriage I was perfectly happy not seeing, and though I loved Emerson, I’m not sure I agreed with all of her choices. I felt like I never really got to know the other characters and the relationship felt a little superficial to me. I liked that Prescott Lane didn’t feel the need to vilify the ex, but honestly, I think I would have enjoyed the book much more if she did. I loved reading about a woman in her forties who still wanted and enjoyed sex, and I like the fact that she showed that a woman like this has baggage, but maybe it was all just a little too real to me. I think a lot of women would love this, but I like a clear-cut hero. I liked the book, but I never fell in love the way I wanted to.

The Sex Bucket List is one of those books that people will LOVE for many the same reasons that I didn't love it for. So if you like a book about a mom moving on after a divorce, you may want to give it a try. A friend of mine absolutely loved it.
