Hotel clerk Abby Medford has always enjoyed the quiet solitude of the night shift. The long, boring hours allow her time to study her law books. But when bad-boy-rocker Lucas Ford checks into the penthouse suite one night and demands Abby personally deliver his room service request, her formerly quiet nights are quickly filled with Lucas's erotic games. But as Abby soon learns, if she thinks she can indulge her innermost desires with Lucas without giving him her heart, she's dead wrong. ***** Misadventures is a romantic series of spicy standalone novels, each written or co-written by some of the best names in romance. I am slowly but surely working my way through Lauren Rowe’s entire backlist and enjoying every second! Though this wasn’t my favorite book of hers, it was definitely entertaining and steamy! It’s a rockstar romance and a lot of fun. Plus, it was narrated by the author who does an incredible job. Highly recommend listening to the audio!
October Audible Escape listen #8 Rating: 3.5 stars Genre: Romance Narrator: Lauren Rowe Length: 5 hours and 49 minutes
This was a pretty fast paced and steamy story. There was a lot of sexiness while still enough story that I felt the connection between Abby and Lucas, both of which I liked. I was a big fan of how this author kept the book pretty light and fun and made it an enjoyable Hot with a capital H read. I actually have one of this authors books on my Kindle that I've never gotten around to reading but I'll definitely be bumping that up on my TBR now.
OMG I love this book! Super hot, quite naughty, a bit raunchy with an amazing ending. ~~~~~~~~~~ If you like it hot, you will want to grab this one. From the first few chapters, the author lights the flame, and holy smokes, it is burning hot!
But there is more to it than just spicy scenes. There is understanding between the characters, support, and plenty of humor. Then the heart pain kicks in and even a tear or too. UGHHHHH
And the ending... Oh God. I loved it so much. It took this book from a 4 star review to a 5 star review. So sweet and so worth the read! Lauren Rowe did an amazing job and one author I will read again!
********** AVAILABLE NOW!!!!! ********* Absolutely one of the sexiest, smartest, most fun reads I've ever had. Abby and Lucas are the perfect combination of teasing and tawdry, giving us line after line of epic quotables, leading to page-burning passion and smoldering, unforgettable emotions. Angel Payne, USA Today Best Selling Author
Lauren didn't disappoint, with her quirky, witty, heart felt and heat fuelled writing, this book came alive ! The characters banter and realistic qualities totally sold it. They played each other well, but that ending was perfect and left me with a huge smile on my face and a feeling of satisfaction ! Donna, 4TLOReading
Misadventures On The Night Shift was utterly dirty & absolutely addictive. Sinful.. Sexy.. Salacious.. I couldn't get enough. I devoured it in one sitting, trying my hardest to take it slow so I could savour every little detail to the max, but it was impossible. Trish, Unbound Book Reviews
If I could pick a fictional guy to come to life Lucas would hands down be the first guy I would pick! Lauren just writes the most amazing, loveable and hilariously funny guys. Im a sucker for a Rockstar but my gosh I was not expecting this stunningly sexy man to take over my world. Laura, Goodreads Reviewer
Misadventures on the night shift by Lauren Rowe was so much more than the blurb promised. This was an erotic romance with some heart mixed in. Both characters have pasts that they still have held over their heads constantly. They just want to be free, but they can't seem to get there.
The gist of this story. Moody rockstar, Lucas Ford, stays in the hotel of a seemingly prude, Abby. Abby who has loved Lucas Ford like a proper fangirl since she was a teenager. This is a dream come true!
Their first meeting is a bit of a stand-off, but whatever goes down Lucas ends up impressed with Abby. This leads to interactions that are unexpected and very entertaining. I don't want to say too much, because I think everyone should read this the way I did. Without real expectations. Just know you should never judge a book by its cover, and expect more depth in this story than your average erotic romance.
Well written, hot, fun, with a dash of heart. Definitely a great addition to the Misadventures group of stories!
This actually turned out to be so much more than the title and the blurb plays out to be...
And yet it's quirky, sexy and direct, it's bold in an approach towards the subject of sexual encounters and sexual problems, and then it's funny and entertaining...
it's also a second-chance love story you'll imagine and rewind in your mind just for the fun of it.
Absolutely one of the sexiest, smartest, most fun reads I've ever had. Abby and Lucas are the perfect combination of teasing and tawdry, giving us line after line of epic quotables, leading to page-burning passion and smoldering, unforgettable emotions. But I liked the last act best of all, in which the love story resolves in unique and realistic ways. Don't worry--these two get their HEA, but they really have to work for it. I liked seeing that--and of course, experiencing all the swoons at the end of the book. Such a good one!
Misadventures on the Night Shift is one I’d slot onto my quick-fix, smutty guilty-pleasures shelf, and spiced up my Sunday morning quite nicely.
“I want to play you a song I wrote. A song about you. And then I want to show you my dick.”
Law-student-by-day and hotel-employee-by-night, Abby has loved rock-god Lucas Ford along with many others for years, and when he books into the hotel after a meltdown on stage, she finally gets to see the man who inadvertently starred in her younger selfs fantasies. Fantasies that now get to be played out for real as he needs a muse and she’s the perfect woman for the job.
“I’m going to give you the night of your life, Angel. To thank you for giving me the best songs of mine.”
As they quickly get up close and personal, Abby and Lucas are hot, steamy and satisfying and we’re brought everything from role-playing ménage to kinkier one-on-one action. There’s not a huge amount of depth to the story, granted both have pasts and open-up as time passes, and there is a period they aren’t together where they get their sexual appetites fed elsewhere (although that’s off-script), but all in all if you’re looking for a shorter read that falls into the smuttier category yet delivers a good old dollop of sugary goodness, then this is likely to hit the spot.
4.5 stars. Sexy, smart and funny. Erotic romance that was pretty surprising at times. Great addition to the "Misadventures" series and I personally haven't read another book quite like this one. I wanted to think a little more about what I was going to write before I reviewed this one but I just decided to go for it and review this now while I am still processing things. Like I said it is different from any other book that I have previously read before and YES it is going to have serious triggers for some of my book friends. Let me just say that there is a scorching hot MFM sex scene and some definite but relatively mild OW & OM drama involved. My reaction many times throughout this book was "holy shit". This story though very much an erotic romance had lots of depth and a really great storyline to boot. It was surprising at times, a little mind-blowing and absolutely entertaining. I can totally recommend this book, not only was it a different read from what I had initially expected but it also exceeded my expectations by far.
I scored a free hardback copy of Lauren Rowe's Misadventures on the Night Shift in my swag bag at an author group signing last year...a signing which allowed me to meet Ms. Rowe and have my freebie signed by her. Yay!! I had never read anything from this generous author before so I had no idea what to expect. I certainly didn't expect the level of naughtiness in this novel, especially with the fairly innocent cover art and titles in this series of standalones. Misadventures on the Night Shift is part rock star romance, part erotica/menage, and part non-fairytale ending which I personally appreciated. Don't worry, it's certainly a happily ever after for our heroine but not in the way you would expect, and that absolutely earned Ms. Rowe some of my respect. Overall, I liked Misadventures on the Night Shift. I liked some aspects more than others so it pretty much evened out in terms of my three-star rating. It was a fast and fun read, and I look forward to continuing the Misadventures collection.
My favorite quote: "That song is the soundtrack to your fans' lives. They've lost their virginity to it. Cried to it. Grieved to it. You've eased their pain by sharing yours." I shrug. "So I think you should decide to stop feeling like the song is trapping you and realize it's a gift. Embrace it. If you feel like you've outgrown playing that song, as is, then, okay, you're a musical genius - reinvent it when you play it live. But most of all, be grateful for the gift of so many people loving and feeling moved by your creation. The way I see it, it's the least you can do for getting to do what you love for a living. So few people on this earth get to do that."
Holy smokes, this sucker was off the chains HOT!! I really didn’t like one of the secondary characters and thought the premise was a bit of a stretch, but guess what?!! None of that mattered because this is my new TOP FAVE of the series!! Whoop whoop! Lauren Rowe did her thing with this sexy little novella! Buy it, read it. LOVE IT!!
Brief book summary: Abby works the night shift at a swanky Denver hotel to help pay for her law degree. She’s been in love/love with rocker Lucas Ford since hearing his music as a teenage girl. A chance meeting on the night shift brings her face to face with her idol. What happens next is pure unadulterated yumminess!
What I loved: Abby was the tits! Such a sweet girl and amazing friend! A struggling college student with a strained relationship with her parents, but she was so determined to make herself over. To become the strong successful woman she knew she would be. Although her initial dream was tainted by her parents, she reaches her goal. I particularly loved how open she is with Lucas. Lucas was a great character. Flawed, eccentric, dominant. All the things a great rocker should be. But he’s also vulnerable and has a real soft spot for Abby. The chemistry was off the charts explosive!!! The writing and pace were excellent!
Overall, this was a HIT!! I lurved it and can't wait to read more books by Lauren Rowe!
I need a vape. I don't smoke but after reading this book, I might just might try. I want to use stronger language than Goodreads allows to share my appreciation of this book. It starts off with a bang and only skyrockets from there.
I think I have found my favorite book couple after every #MisadventureSeries book I finish but I change my mind as soon as I start the next book. Lauren Rowe has crafted a story that allows the reader to live out a teenage fantasy. The book is fast paced with steam shooting off the pages-- I mean, really, these pages are on fire! The characters are lovable... Abby and Luke have stolen my heart.
This book is for all of us who want to step outside of our normal lives and embrace the impetuous, decadent adventures we crave.
Holy shit, this book is hot!!! My e-reader was smoking from turning the pages so fast... ok, ok not literally smoking but damn! Misadventures on the Night Shift is a story about what everyone thinks is a mousy, soon to be kindergarten teacher, but in a reality she's a straight up kinky, sex fiend. Abby was so different from any character I've ever read. She was bold, opinionated, and didn't back down to anyone... Even Rock Star Lucas Ford, or Lucas Fucking Ford as he liked to call himself. Lucas appeared to be a mess at the beginning of the book, but as soon as his true self came out, I absolutely loved him!!! Their relationship was face paced, smoking hot and unlike anything I've ever read! Misadventures on the Night Shift was PHENOMENAL! The writing was fantastic and it'll have you flipping through the pages as fast as you possibly can! Straight up 5 Star read!!!
Ugh, to be able to read while working - now that is the real dream job. Or even being an editor.
..and yet, I am knocking out reviews left and right.. while "working from home" lol.
Misadventures on the Night Shift was a pretty good book. In it, you will meet Abby and Lucas. Now she just wants a nice relaxing shift at work and be able to squeeze in some reading/studying time. Then there's Lucas, who needs a secret night in because this bad boy is in trouble.. or maybe it just happens to follow him everywhere he goes.
Long story short, they were cute together. Definitely had some amazing chemistry and it did have hints of "insta-ness" happening. It's a bit laughable when people think feelings wont be involved when it comes to hooking up. These two definitely fell for one another - it just took them a while to notice.
The ending was pretty cute and it was a pretty quick audiobook. Definitely fell in like with this series because each story is intense and easy to follow along with. Wishing for audible to get all the books on the romance package.
Review For: Misadventures on the Night Shift Lauren Rowe Misadventures on the Night Shift by Lauren Rowe is book 6 in the "Misadventures" series. This is the story of Abby Medford and Lucas Ford. Abby works the night shift at a hotel so that she can study and also leave her days free for law school. Night shift was thought to be a quiet shift but that all seem to change when Lucas headed to the Penthouse suit of the hotel. Nothing was ever the same again for Abby. Abby and Lucas story was really hot! But along with being really hot it had some funny and sad parts too. This is one book you will want to put down once you start reading it! I cant wait to read more books by Ms. Rowe and in the Misadventure series!Loved it!https://twitter.com/soapsrus68https://www.facebook.com/RomanceBookR...https://romancebookreviewforyou.wordp...https://www.tumblr.com/blog/romancebo...
Misadventures on the Night Shift Misadventures #6 Lauren Rowe 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book was Hot! Hot! Hot! I totally loved this entire book. It was super steamy and sexy af. Sexy Rock Star meets Secret Hot Nymph, his addiction and muse. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down. This was a great sexy romance and I couldn't get enough. Thanks NetGalley and Waterhouse Press for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
I love Lauren Rowe writing. Eventhough her books usually take me on a little emotional roller coaster. This book has comedy, sexual tension, steamy scenes, and some heart break. It was well worth it and I can't wait to read her next book.
Abby was a bad girl in her past. Now she is living her life like her parents want. She hates the life she is living.
Lucas Ford is a rock and roll star who has never been really in love. Everyone uses him so he doesn't ever feel like someone can love him. He meets Abby and knows there is something different about her. Loved this story and couldn't put it down.
Thank you to Meredith Wild for letting me win this one through a goodreads giveaway.
I've really been enjoying this series. They are enjoyable, fun reads with a HEA. I like that they have multiple authors too! I have never read this author before and look forward to reading more by her!
This romance is about Abby and her childhood rockstar crush Lucas Ford. He ends up staying at the hotel she works at for a couple of weeks, and he essentially asks Abby to be his muse. She agrees to inspire Lucas while he is in the midst of writing his new album, but she did not expect to actually fall in love with him.
This was a fun one! I normally hate celebrity romance, but I think that Lauren Rowe did a great job with this one! I loved how the heroine put the hero in his place when he was being a jerk, and how she inspired him to write these amazing songs!
TROPES: big city romance, brooding hero, celebrity romance, childhood-crush, different social classes, musicians, rockstar, time-jumps
these Misadventures series books are alright I still didn't find the one that will top Misadventures of a College Girl this one is steamyyyyyy... if you are in the mood for it..go for it..
***spoilers for the entire book below, look away if you don’t want them***
Ughhh I’m mad at this book! I was really enjoying it up until they spent A YEAR AND A HALF separated and dating/hooking up with other people. One of my biggest dislikes in romance books are long separations. It’s why I generally don’t like second chance romance books and if I know the book has a long period of separation (especially if they are with other people!!) I actively avoid it. So had I known, I would have skipped this one.
Second, for the love of god please never use the word “cooch” as a euphemism again. That was used way too many times in this book and gave me the ick every time.
Last I wasn’t a huge fan of the plan/roleplay to pretend she was dating his best friend and then they’d sneak around behind his back and then she’d tell him she didn’t want to be with him and wanted to be with her “boyfriend” and break his heart so he could write a good song. It felt like that sort of started but then they hooked up as a threesome once (also not my favorite, I prefer no sharing) but then never again and from there it was just used as a device to have the relationship end, which could have just been accomplished when he had to go back to LA. The best friend never showed up again after the threesome early on.
Anyway, it kept me engaged well enough to not make me want to rate it too low, but this definitely has been my least favorite from the “misadventures” series, which is a series of novellas by different authors.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I wasn't really expecting too much out of this series/book... but what was I thinking??! It's Lauren Rowe, and she is amazing! I've yet to listen to anything of hers that I haven't loved. I saw she writes another one of the books in this series, and I will definitely be getting to it ASAP. She's also a great narrator. This short book is a Rockstar Romance between Abby and Lucas. I love that the majority of this book is set in a hotel. Great characters...mixed with humor and A LOT of steaminess!
Wow just wow! Stunner of a book! When I heard Lauren Rowe was writing for the multi-author Misadventures series, I needed this book now! I am a tried and true fan of Lauren dating back to her phenomenal "The Club" series, and this book, Misadventures on the Night Shift, firmly earned it's place on my "read before you die" shelf along with her other masterpieces!
Abby works at an upscale hotel on the night shift purely so she can go to law school during the day and study at night during the dead zone-where there is literally nothing going on. She's wrapped up in a ball of debt and is trudging through school to a job with her dad's firm which is destined to be sure misery. She has dreams of course,.... but dreams don't pay the bills right.
One night rock star Lucas Ford walks into the hotel and Abby's life as she knows it is going to change. He's always been her teenage heartthrob and Abby has kept him up on this pedestal that no one can touch. But when an altercation with him threatens her idyllic and transcendent thoughts about Lucas Ford, Abby has to reevaluate her take on him and even her life itself. He had always been such an important part of her life, and how can she just throw away all that she thought she knew about him?
Lucas is delicious and he knows it! Cocky rock star, gorgeous, can have any woman... you know the type. He is taken aback after an altercation with Abby. Does she know who she is talking to?? He's Lucas F*cking Ford!! Abby takes him down a few notches and he is enthralled! She's evoked emotions he hasn't felt in years! He is there to write songs and after all the writers block he's had, he's surprised Abby's given him a way for the words to flow. He needs more of this muse!! They enter into an agreement and it's hot, and spicy, and sweet, and oh so special. Pure yumminess!!
I totally fell for Lucas and Abby and their unconventional romance! This is one of those totally unexpected and totally believable scenarios that happens so innocently. What develops is such a deep rooted quest for life, and love, and happiness with all that you are! Lauren has such a gift of weaving these characters into you heart that you literally feel their happiness and their sorrows. When an author moves you to laugh, or smile, or cry, it's a true testament to their writing ability and Lauren has that special gift!
Please go ahead and give this book a read! Once you do, you will see how Lauren wraps you up, holds your hand, and doesn't let you go! It may be a rocky ride, but it's oh so worth it! Then you will want to dive into her other works and I wholeheartedly recommend starting with The Club series! Maybe even grab the audiobook as Lauren narrates in them too and she is an infectious one to listen to!
5 Stars/4 Flames
This book was gifted to me by Waterhouse Press through NetGalley for a voluntary review. The review and ratings are solely my opinions.
If you’re looking for the next sexy and sinful rock-star romance, than look no further. Misadventures of the Night Shift has all the scorching hot romance you need.
Misadventures of the Night Shift follows the story of Abby and Lucas. Student during the day, Hotel Clerk at night. Abby is just going through the motions of life. While she enjoys the solitude of the night shift, she couldn’t be more bored with her major. Her life is anything but exciting. That is until Lucas Ford checks into her hotel. Lucas is everything that Abby has ever wanted and desired. Before Abby knows it, she is wrapped up in Lucas’ world where the nights are hotter and passion runs wild…..
Misadventures of the Night Shift is my first read by this author and what a fantastic first read it was. This story grabbed my interest from the very first page and I found myself quickly unable to put it down. I totally devoured this book in just one sitting. From an exciting plot to explosive chemistry to entertaining banter and cocky rock-stars to those oh, so sinful nights. This book had it all!!
So, if you’ve got your heart set on a quick, delicious and naughty read, you don’t need to look any further….
*I was provided an ARC copy of this book via the publisher and NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review*
Lucas Ford is a popular rockstar and he's going to a hotel in order to concentrate and write there his new music album. But he's in for a treat because he meets Asskicker , the hotel employee who's fiesty. He gets the idea and offers her to be his muse for the time he'll be there. A naughty proposition that seems twisty and insane and involves inevitable heartbreak since he knows that she's also a fan of his.
Okay , let me say first that at this point of my life, I'm probably over erotica. Or you know erotic romance? I do still like reading sexy scenes, but the ones I've read in this book.. well a bit too much for me maybe. And don't get me wrong, I love dirty scenes and threesomes and just you know, smut. But this one didn't click for me. Sadly it's just me, it's probably not you. I hope you'll enjoy this book more than I did.
On the plus side, it had some steamy scenes, included some song lyrics and in the end I liked how things involved and even if the start of the book had some unrealistic scenes, the progress included elements I approved of. So according to my Goodreads rating, this was just okay for me.
*** I received an early ARC from NetGalley for an honest return. This is a standalone book that is part of the Misadventure Series***
This was my first Lauren Rowe book and I ended up loving it. The chemistry between Abby and Lucas was HOT. Abby was leading a boring life when Lucas Ford, her teenage crush, walks into the hotel she works at. From there forward her nights are filled with fantasy while his are filled with inspiration. This book was filled with sexy scenes, lust, romance, heart break and hope.
