Some fears haunt you …

When ballistics and weapons expert Rick Cannon learned the Department of Defense had developed self-steering bullets that show 100% accuracy and make even a gun novice a lethal sniper, he feared they would eventually end up in the wrong hands.

Until they become reality.

That fear comes true when a vet is killed with stolen “smart bullets.” Rick and his FBI task force, nicknamed The White Knights, are soon charged with finding and stopping the killer. Rick enlists the help of the victim’s therapist, Olivia Dobbs, who is well known for her success in counseling military vets with PTSD. But when the killer sets his sights on their key witness, Rick must rely on the skills he learned as a Marine sniper to make sure the next bullet fired isn’t a
kill shot to take Olivia out.

Sleeman knows how to write romantic inspirational fiction with a knife-edge suspense twist, plenty of heart-pounding action, adrenaline flowing danger all while plunging the reader in the middle! You'll find yourself stepping into the characters like a well fitted suit and running for your life. Follow along the many twists & turns as you race to find the killer before he strikes again! I can see this story written in a future newspaper headline about its fantastical advanced military weaponry falling into the wrong hands. Bone-chilling stuff!

Four stars....not quite as much of a favorite as the first in the series (which was a really good thriller), but still a solid story. The plot didn't allow for instant action, which made the story realistic but not as gripping. :) That changed at the halfway point, and the action was nonstop—I couldn't put it down.

I really enjoyed how the characters' occupations weren't just a word on a page; Rick really did use his sniper background and Olivia was a practicing psychologist. It added a nice touch of relevance to the story.

I didn't care for the situation where Olivia decides to stay alone overnight at Rick's house.

I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in the series!

Kill Shot is the second book in Susan Sleeman's White Knights series and boy oh boy was it good! After reading and loving the first book, Fatal Mistake, I was very eager to pick up Kill Shot. Right away the story grabbed me and I got invested in the characters.

Speaking of the characters, I loved them all. The members of the FBI Task Force (The White Knights) were awesome and I really enjoyed getting to know them better. I liked how Rick progressed in this story and worked through some of his issues. Also, the romance between him and Olivia was good and I think it moved along nicely and wasn't rushed.

All in all, I loved Kill Shot. If you enjoy suspense novels, I definitely recommend it!

The premise of this book is slightly terrifying -- Self-steering bullets -- and all too real. The action was crisp, the romance light, and the satisfaction at the end perfect. A great read for those of love romantic suspense.

This is the second book in this series that I have read, and yes, they can be read alone, but if you like mystery don’t miss either of these.
Some of our friends are back, and we have a top-secret weapon missing, and people using it to take out former snipers.
The author has us dealing with some really tough subjects here, mainly PTSD, and how it effects the lives of so many people.
Soon all seem to be running for their lives, and the FBI team is trying to find the perpetrator, who are they after and why?
There is a little romance here, but there is also action around every corner, and these people go to any length and don’t care how many innocents they harm.
A read that is going to keep you page turning, you have to know!

Eeeeppp!!! I'm even more in love with this series now that I've read book two. Let me say straight off that Kill Shot reads fine as a standalone, but I'm guessing once you've read it you will want more of the White Knights so you'll be hunting down the first book, Fatal Mistake, while anxiously waiting for the next one to come out.

Mind you -- if you are a White Knights fan, you'll probably get a thrill out of this sweet observation: "Since Cal's recent marriage, he'd lost some of his intensity. Not on the job. He was still a guy who had the team's back and they could count on him. He just smiled a heck of a lot more now, and it was contagious." (p 10) Squeeeaaallll! Now doesn't that make you want to read the first book to find out what all the grinning is about? :-)

Which brings me to something that I really love about this series. Sleeman takes the time (and the pages) to really let us get to know all the team members. It's there in the teasing and banter as well as in the on-the-job grittiness that binds these professionals together. All of them are ex-military, each one bringing something special to the team and they are called in on the tough cases. Like the kind Olivia finds herself in the middle of.

And that's when things really get complicated. Because Rick, well..."He really was a good-looking guy if you went for the big, macho type who seemed to steamroll everyone in his path." (p 51) Definitely not Olivia's type. At all. So why then, does she have to constantly keep her guard up when Rick is around? The romance is divine. It's slow and steady -- a one step forward, two steps back kind of connection since both Rick and Olivia have issues in their past and a relentless killer to dodge. I love how their relationship didn't feel rushed. How the author gives it equal page time. There are snippets even in the suspense threads.

And here's yet another thing that I love about this novel -- there's a real balance between the action and procedural aspects of the investigation. It's not all cloak-and-dagger-dodging-bullets. I feel like I got a realistic glimpse into actual casework and I was scrambling for answers right along with Rick and his team.

If you loved Dee Henderson's O'Malley series and/or Dani Pettrey's romantic suspense you will definitely want to read Susan Sleeman.

I enjoyed visiting another adventure with the White Knight team of the FBI once again and reading Rick's story. He is carrying around a lot of emotional baggage that he needs to work through. When the team has a case that involves former military patients of therapist Dr. Olivia Dobbs in Atlanta, Rick and Olivia bump heads. She realizes that Rick has some issues that he needs to deal with but he isn't interested in her analyzing him. Rick is in charge of the case and they do have to work together. There are some bad guys killing her patients and with a weapon that is impossible to defend against. Susan Sleeman knows how to write a great suspense that will keep you turning the pages. Her characters are well developed, likable and real. Kill Shot has a scary and dangerous plot that will make you hope it never happens in real life. Add in a little romantic friction and you have another great addition to the series. Both Rick and Olivia are Christians who have moments that they need to rely on God's strength in their situations, especially involving relationships with family members. Susan Sleeman is an author that I have come to expect a great read every time.

I definitely enjoyed this book more than the 1st. The mystery/suspense was intense and stumped me until the very end. The H & h were great characters. We also catch up with the previous characters from book #1. As this is a Christian suspense book, there is no steamy scenes but we do have romance. I look forward to reading any other book(s) that SS writes in this series.

Full RTC but here is a short bit of my review: Rick was a cool guy to read about and I loved getting to see his part in F.B.I. But the not so great parts of his story were sooo sad and he needed someone to love him. ;D Maybe like a therapist?

"Kill Shot" is a Christian romantic suspense novel. It's the second book in a series, but you can understand this book without reading the previous one as each focuses on a different couple. This story did not spoil the previous novel.

Olivia may have seen the serial killer and knew several of his victims, so the FBI team questioned and suspected her. But when someone targets her, they keep her with the team so they can protect her. This provided a chance for the hero and heroine to get to know each other. Both had dysfunctional family relationships, and they motivated each other to deal with this. Rick dealt with forgiveness and trust issues while Olivia struggled with how her family used and manipulated her. Both felt that they needed to deal with these issues before they could make a romantic relationship work, though they were attracted to each other.

The suspense came from the bad guy hunting down and killing certain people and the worry that the weapon might be sold to another country. I rolled my eyes when, near the end, the heroine took a BABY out in a car to calm her down when she knows she's a target. Putting a baby in potential danger because you don't want her to cry? Seriously? Except for that bit, the twisty story line of who took the bullets and why was an interesting, exciting read. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this exciting suspense novel.

When you begin a Susan Sleeman book, get ready for a thrilling ride! She hits the ground running with pulse-pounding excitement and continues on throughout the book without giving you a chance to get off this powerful roller coaster ride of suspense. I don't know how she comes up with all these amazing plots.

Sleeman has created a great cast of characters to populate this book, her second in the White Knights series. These men and women are FBI agents who have all served in the military, and now they work to bring down criminals of the worst sort. The author keeps the reader invested in her characters from the first page, even the secondary ones.

This go round, Dr. Olivia Dobbs is a Christian therapist who counsels mainly ex or current military who suffer from PTSD. When her last patient is murdered nearly right in front of her eyes, the FBI team, White Knights, are called in. There is something indeed very ominous about this case or the regular police would have handled it. A serious threat to national security is in play here and the agents are in a race against time to track down the culprits before there are unimaginable consequences. Agent Rick Cannon, fighting demons of his own, is assigned to guard Dr. Dobbs because she is in the line of fire as well. He doesn't trust her and believes she is involved in this case. Both are believers but both also need God in the worse way with this case.

I loved every single minute of this book, could barely put it down. Susan Sleeman is the queen of inspirational suspense. I never miss one of her books. And her spiritual theme is always heart-touching. Don't miss this one.

A suspenseful story laced with romance and wrapped up in a CSI-type drama! This author knows her stuff, and isn't afraid to wade into the complex details of crime solving, crossing agencies from FBI and local police forces. Book 2 of the White Knights series is a stand alone story.
With a serial killer on the loose, no one is safe, especially the psychiatrist whose client ends up dead. The frustration and intensity of trying to crack the identity of the killer came through, showing how difficult it must be to piece together facts from bits of evidence. The continued scepticism about clearing Olivia's name was confusing, but I guess the team had to be cautious. I felt sorry for her as she was both victim and accused. It made me wonder how often that may happen in real life.

Recommend to readers who enjoy police dramas with a bit of romantic interest.

Susan Sleeman wows me yet again with her fantastic characters and a storyline that kept me guessing the entire book. Like seriously there were twists even in the last couple chapters that were crazy! But I am always impressed by how Ms. Sleeman gives me some clues but keeps me guessing in the end. She executes this wonderfully in Kill Shot. The second book in the White Knights series.
The White Knights is a highly impressive FBI team that deals with any case they need too. They have experts in crisis management, explosives, ballistics/weapons, negotiating/crime profiling, cyber crimes, and forensic. This book is about Rick Cannon who is the hostage rescue and ballistics expert on the team. It also features Olivia Dobbs, a therapist who specializes in PTSD patients. Olivia and Rick are thrown together when a self steering bullet murders one of Olivia’s patients. She discovers him moments after he is murdered which makes her the FBI’s prime witness and suspect. Despite the mutual attraction between the two, both Olivia and Rick are determined to focus on the case and ignore their feelings. But when a sniper trains his rifle on Olivia, Rick will have to fight hard to make sure that the next bullet fired doesn’t hit Olivia.
Rick was such a strong character, but he was also a sweetheart underneath all of his tough, agenty exterior. While sometimes I wanted to shake him for not believing Olivia, I was also so sad for him. I don’t want to give anything away, but there are a lot of issues that Rick has to work through. And it was sweet to watch Olivia help him even when Rick tried to push away. But, I think that Olivia also had to learn to put up boundaries and respect other people’s boundaries. I think that it made a lot of sense that her character was like that though because she is a therapist. She did learn how to put up some boundaries, but it took a lot of hard lessons that were very sad to read about.
The suspense as usual was amazing. There were so many different things going on, but they were all tied together perfectly. There were also some happy surprises that I definitely needed. But, also some hard ones where you can really see how much people need God’s mercy and love in their lives. On that note this is a Christian romantic, suspense, so a clean book with some Christian elements. While the romance is very clean, there are some more intense scenes. Rick attends some autospies in the book, and there is not a lot of description, but there are some. And there are quite a few murders where the characters see the bodies, but nothing too scary like I said before not a lot of description. I would definitely recommend this riveting and romantic book!

Kill Shot is engaging romantic suspense. The second book in Susan Sleeman's "White Knights" series, it focuses on ballistics expert Rick. His team is called in when a homeless man is killed by a "smart bullet," and he is immediately drawn to Olivia, the therapist who found the dead man.

While Kill Shot isn't the most fast-paced suspense, it is engaging. And though it features a lot of military and technical terminology, I could easily follow along—Sleeman explained things without dumbing it down too much for her audience.

Rick and Olivia have a very interesting relationship; they're immediately attracted to each other, but she is initially a suspect, and Rick has lots of trust issues stemming from his childhood and his first marriage. The two end up spending large amounts of time together, as it soon becomes clear that Olivia is a target, and Rick becomes her protector. So even though the romance between Rick and Olivia moves quickly, it doesn't feel too fast because they are spending so much time together.

In addition to the main plot of the "smart bullet" killer, there are two other crimes Rick's team investigates: a bank fraud/identity theft regarding Olivia and an illegal weapons sales ring. It's not clear for most of the novel if these three stories are interconnected, and I enjoyed the way Sleeman resolved everything.

Overall, I really liked Kill Shot, and I'll definitely be coming back for more of Sleeman's "White Knights" series! 4 stars.

Note: While this is the second book in the series, you don't need to have any knowledge of the first book to enjoy this one.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

Ms Sleeman once again gives us a story that grabs you from the start. This is a Christian suspense romance, with the emphasis on the suspense.
The main characters are FBI weapons expert, Rick Cannon and Olivia Dobbs, a therapist specializing in vets with PTSD. Both are strong, independent individuals. The plot is engaging and it’s obvious that the author did extensive research on self-steering bullets. That alone was an education.
As others review the plot extensively, I will go a different route.
What I appreciated most was the author’s insightfulness in the fact that our experiences as children and how we are treated by the adults we trust will in fact affect who we become as adults. Those past experiences, hurts, lack of attention , feelings of worthlessness, are ingrained in our personalities. Invisible walls are built to protect ourselves, and only we can take them down , become happy, and lead a peaceful life.
I also appreciated the fact that Ms Sleeman highlights the recurrence of PTSD on the returning troops. We , as a society, need to do more to help those brave men and women who sacrifice their lives to keep us safe. A need also exist to support their families.
So, kudos to the author . I was gifted a copy of this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I have wanted to read a book by Susan Sleeman for some time now. Her newest book, Kill Shot is the second book in her White Knights series. While I haven't read the first book in the series I found this book read just fine as a stand-alone. However, I loved it so much the first book in the series, Fatal Mistake, now resides in my To Be Read pile.

Kill Shot is a fast-paced novel with twists and turns throughout. The heroine, Dr. Olivia Dobbs, is a psychologist who has several former military veterans as her patients that she treats for PTSD. The hero of the story, Rick Cannon, is an ex-Marine turned FBI agent and he enters the story when Olivia's patient is murdered by a stolen self-steering bullet.

Rick and Olivia have a strange relationship. While they are attracted to each other, Rich can't stop looking at her as a suspect. They both have issues from their past but Ms. Sleeman works them through these issues and ties up the story quite nicely.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good romantic suspense novel.

On a 5-Star Scale - 5 Stars!!!!!

I have very mixed feelings about this book. It was a good book, that I enjoyed reading, but I'm sorry to say that I didn't love it the way I did the first book in the series. After loving book one SOOO much I think perhaps my expectations were so insanely high that no book probably would have been able to live up to them. I did love the main characters Rick and Olivia, their faith stories and character growth were fabulous, and I loved watching them fall in love! There were a lot of parts of the book that were very interesting, and I adored getting to hang out again with the rest of the White Knights team. But, I kept feeling there weren't nearly as many suspense/action scenes as I was expecting. The suspense ramped up a lot near the ending which was perhaps my favorite part of the book, but it also sort of felt like it was a bit too little, too late at that point.
Overall, while it didn't become a favorite I did still enjoy Kill Shot and look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Susan Sleeman is an expert at putting readers in the center of an investigation and keeping them guessing until the end of the story.
In Kill Shot, book two of the White Knights series, weapons expert and former sniper Rick Cannon takes the lead on the investigation into stolen self-steering bullets, which gives anyone with a rifle a threat.
Olivia Dobbs witnessed someone standing over the body of one of her clients. She is the only one who can identify the killer the White Knights are hunting. As a psychologist to veterans with PTSD, Olivia understands more than others how the human mind works—and the cocky FBI agent who keeps turning up is a puzzle for her to solve.
High action, tension, and suspense playout like scenes from a movie, yet it’s the humanness of the characters—their doubts, their fears, their actions and reactions—that make Sleeman’s stories ones shouldn’t miss.

I loved this book. I love how it all starts with the doctor helping her PTSD patient and end up with her being involved in a series of killing plus an attempt on her life. I loved Olivia so much and I love how brave she was. I love that she wanted to help with the investigation so much even though she was a suspect. I hate that one of the dropouts from the sniper school was the one who was doing all the killings and I hate that he held that much of a grudge that he wanted to kill all of them. I loved Rick so much and I love how he had to fight against his personal feelings with the doctor to stay on the case. I was glad that he reconciled with his mother in the end. I was glad when Olivia’s brother was finally punished and got what he deserved for making her life living hell. Overall this was an amazing book! Definitely would recommend it. 10 stars!!

This is the 2nd book in the White Knight series. I actually enjoyed this one even more than the first one. I really liked the two main characters (a former Marine/FBI agent and a psychologist). I enjoyed the technology of smart bullets, drones, and other items that the military and FBI might use. I thought it was a good pace and wrapped up well. I will read the next one in the series.

Christian romantic suspense is one of my favourite genres, so I was lookng forward to reading Killl Shot by new-to-me author Susan Sleeman.

Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed.

This might be because I read Kill Shot right after If I Live by Terri Blackstock (which I've been anxiously anticipating for a year, and which more than met expectations) and Oath of Honor by Lynette Eason (a brilliant start to a new must-read series).

Or it might be for some other reason.

Whatever the reason, Kill Shot didn't grab me. It should have. It ticked all the boxes for Christian romantic suspense. But there was no zing, no wow! factor. It felt tired, same old. The plot was solid, but the writing didn't sparkle, which meant the romance was less than convincing. And what's a romantic suspense novel without a great romance?

Kill Shot by Susan Sleeman is a novel that began with fast paced action and an intriguing plot, surrounding the murder and theft of high-tech self-steering military weaponry. Unfortunately, the author follows such a great opening with an immediate focus towards developing a romance between the main characters while abandoning the overall storyline. The thoughts, emotions and attachment between the main characters were unrealistic in light of a timeline of events that only spanned ten days. What I expected to be a gripping page turning mystery, that I could just relax and enjoy, became a task to complete.

The characters were likeable, but were so stereotypical and predictable. Starting with the psychologist’s dysfunctional family relationships and then the FBI agent seeking to distance himself from past guilt and unresolved issues with his parents, whom he felt neglected him in pursuit of wealth and social influence. The other team members seemed like many familiar characters on the big screen, which sadly transformed a promising reading experience into nothing more than a lackluster made for television movie experience in book form.

Even though I kept screaming inside for the author to get back to the main story, what kept me intrigued was the thorough knowledge and explanation of terminology related to military, FBI, ballistics, forensics and advanced technology used by those professionals. Susan does a wonderful job of integrating that information into the dialog between the characters in a balanced manner, as well as incorporating a positive mindset about God and faith.

Overall, I would recommend Kill Shot by Susan Sleeman to someone who likes Christian romance novels with a little intrigue and an interesting storyline. However, if you read to get away from boring story plots on television and stereotypical characters, you may leave this one unfinished.

KILL SHOT is the second book in Ms. Sleeman's White Knights series, and while it easily stands alone, fans will want to read Fatal Mistake to get Cam's story. This is romantic suspense so both are key ingredients in this story.

Both Olivia and Rick hold their emotions close and therefore readers are kept at a distance too. At times Rick comes across as a bully and Olivia is just plain annoying answering questions with questions. But both are in sync with their personality and their job descriptions.

The story does get a bit technical (smart bullets? Really? that is just plain scary) as the White Knights race to figure out who-dun-it before the killer strikes again. I wondered what Olivia's ties to the killer was.... why was she and her clients targets? I couldn't guess and had to keep reading to find out.

Fans of romantic suspense will want to read this story. Ms. Sleeman is a master at romantic suspense. Kill shot. Grab a copy now.

What immediately drew me to want to read this novel was the fact that technology could be developed or imagined that would allow a novice to be able to fire a gun and have a bullet be programmed to kill a specific person without having to be skilled enough to be a professional marksman. Chilling to consider the repercussions if such a device was developed. What is worse is to imagine that it is and was stolen along with 3 dozen of the self-steering bullets. Are they intended for 3 dozen targets or are they about to be sold to the highest bidder?

When the body count begins to rise, the White Knights, a specialized FBI task force is called in to quickly figure out who the potential killer is and to recover the remainder of the specialized bullets before they are sold or used. Heading up the investigation is Rick Cannon who has his own demons to face, and now he will have to put aside his differences and feelings to work with Dr. Olivia Dobbs, a therapist who has been working with two former Marines to deal with their PTSD, and now both of them are dead with the self-steering bullets. When Olivia is also targeted, Rick Cannon will ensure that she remain safe even if it means taking a bullet himself, but first he has to clear her from being the suspect.

At first, this novel was a bit of a challenge to really settle into, based on all the action that happens at the beginning of the novel. Since this is part of a series, and not reading the first one, Fatal Mistake, I was wondering if I would be able to enjoy this one. I can tell you I did. I had to remove myself from all the distractions happening around me to be able to truly tune into this one and once I did, I was hooked. From the chemistry happening between Agent Rick Cannon and Dr. Dobbs, I had to know how this would turn out. Perhaps my favorite character is one of the specialized team members, Brynn, as she is the computer hacker for the team. I learned a bit about the deeper workings of the internet I never knew about and I could only pray self-steering bullets are not a reality considering where technology is headed.

I received Kill Shot by Susan Sleeman compliments of Faith Words, a division of Hachette Book Groups. A Discussion Guide is included at the conclusion of this novel that would make it a perfect selection for book clubs. I can't wait to go back and read this series from the beginning and pick up Fatal Mistake. There is enough information in this one that allows you to move through the novel without having to read the first one. The first conveys a bit of why Rick Cannon is so far removed from things and why those mistakes cost him everything and now make him second guess how involved he will allow himself to become. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and easily give it a 5 out of 5 stars. Finally a novel that doesn't have to sacrifice a story line to deal with profanity or other issues you might find in similar novels. What a breath of fresh air this one is!

Ace said he was going to be killed, but his therapist, Dr. Olivia Dobbs, did not believe him. After all, PTSD had defined his fears over the last few years. She thought they had made real progress, but now he was back with the delusions again.

Except this time he was not delusional and before the first chapter was half over, he was dead.

The FBI’s Critical Incident Response team was called in to investigate – not because of who was killed, but because of how he was killed. And that was Top Secret and could not be shared outside their own unit.

Agent Rick Cannon, though not the team leader, was asked from the beginning to take charge the investigation. But from the moment he first crossed paths with Dr. Olivia Dobbs, he had to separate his personal reactions to her from his professional responsibilities – after all, she was the first person on the scene and was a likely suspect. That distinction would not come easy.

Both Olivia and Rick would have their faith challenged as they worked the case. Their families would find ways to interfere with their personal lives and hard decisions would have to be made in response to each of their families of origin.

The author has written an exciting, thrilling, story that would take the FBI unit and its home office, more than simple forensics to solve. The number of bodies would grow – including members of Congress and personal friends of the FBI team. Their team would travel from Washington DC to Atlanta, GA. And the 7 days would see non-stop action for those involved in the case.

Two comments. First, the book involved more romance than I would normally like to see in a book I would choose off the shelf. Relationships, healthy relationships, do not develop in seven days, though that is part of the thesis of this book. However, the book was a romantic thriller and those kinds of relationships are often found in the plots of these novels. Regardless, this reader was disappointed.

Second, if the author would choose to create a series of books using these characters, there would be time for a healthy, growing, relationship to be modeled. The Critical Incident Response team did not have a profiler on staff – Olivia could easily fill that position – as a consultant, if not a formal FBI agent. Perhaps this is planned, but it was not obvious to this reader.

Even with these two concerns, the book warrants 5-stars. The plot is intense, the characters are real, and settings are believable.

I enjoyed this novel of FBI procedure, suspense, and a hint of romance. While it is the second in the White Knights series and there are some allusions to events in the previous novel, this one read well on its own.

The White Knights is a special task force of the FBI. Rick is a ballistics and weapons expert and our hero. When some experimental, self-steering bullets are stolen and used to kill, the task force is called in. Rick meets Olivia, the psychologist treating the ex-military victim. Tiny sparks of romance between them pop up from time to time as Rick and the task force work the case.

This novel has a good balance of FBI procedure and character development. There is a lot of cutting edge technology used by the task force. I was amazed at all of the information that can be gleaned from DNA, such as age (a four year margin), hair color, race, etc. The task force has an expert hacker and others that are experts at gathering information too.

As for the character development, Rick has been alienated from his parents so there is some character work in that area. I don't like it when an agent allows romantic feelings for a woman he's investigating or protecting, as is the case here. At one point, Rick's concentration suffers as “...his worrying about Olivia left him unable to focus...” (281) Rick was a sniper in the marines and I would have appreciated his character much more if he had disciplined his feelings for Olivia while working the case. Perhaps a female author writing a lead male character made him just a little too emotional. In some respects I felt Olivia was a much stronger character than Rick.

I did enjoy the novel, however, and do recommend it to those who like reading about cutting edge FBI investigative techniques. There is some suspense included as well as romance.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

I won a Love Inspired Suspense novel by Susan Sleeman a few years ago, and really enjoyed it. I was happy to see she was starting a trade paperback series, and read and reviewed the first book in this series, Fatal Mistake....which I liked even better than the other book I had read by her.

And now I am reviewing the second book in the White Knights Series. I like series where an author keeps the same main cast of characters, centering on a different character each book. In this case, each book is about a different member of a special FBI team. I read and reviewed Fatal Mistake back in May, so it is not fresh on my mind, but I still think this was an even better read than the first.

One has to keep in mind this book is fiction. However, I still found the plot fascinating and enjoyed reading about snipers and enjoyed seeing how these fictional FBI agents tracked down the killers. I liked the characters, the FBI team already having been in the first book, but I also liked the heroine of the story, and found the psychiatrist angle and talk interesting.

The book shows how easy it is to let the past bind us and keep us from being everything that we can be, and how important family is and keeping close relationships with them. Prayer and other Christian themes play a big part in the book, and comes across in a way that critics should not find preachy.

This IS romantic suspense, and I have come to enjoy that part of these types of books even as a bachelor, and found that part to be well done. I could find nothing to dislike in this book, and appreciated the pro-military angle of the story. I don't know how many books will be in the series, or if every team member will get their own book.... but I am looking forward to reading as many books as Sleeman writes in this series.

I did NOT want this book to end! All I can say is that the book is amazing! No surprise when the author is Susan Sleeman but her White Knight series just keeps get better! The attention to detail in Kill Shot is mind boggling! I can't imagine the research she did for this story! Page after page is just SO good and so realistic! A homeless military veteran gets shot and killed by a "smart" bullet that was part of stolen technology from a company developing the cutting edge technology and the FBI team called the "White Knights" is called in to quietly solve the case so word doesn't get out about this super secret technology that is out there "on the streets" somewhere in the hands of a ruthless killer. When the killings continue, the race is on to find the killer and get these bullets off the streets before they are sold to some foreign country or terrorist group. Rick is the lead on the case this time and he wants to catch the killer while shutting down his emotions because the scene of the crime is in Atlanta where he grew up and he is estranged from his family. The psychiatrist who was working with the homeless vet who was shot, and actually found his body, was Dr. Olivia Dodds and she must work with the FBI team to help find the killer because all the killing become related, plus the killer starts coming after her! She starts to "analyze" Rick about his estrangement to his family, which he doesn't like but she has big family issues of her own. Like I said, a FANTASTIC book and one I couldn't put down! The twists and turns and suspense leave you wanting to find out how everything will turn out so you have to read faster! Ms. Sleeman is a master at this genre and I highly recommend this book!
