Rate this book
Marc Matthews, intensely private star of the hit TV show Destiny, hates his fans. He can think of nothing worse than having to speak to, sign autographs for, or have his picture taken with them. So the day he finds out he’s contractually obligated to attend the biggest TV convention of the year, Desti-nation, is not a good one for him. Left without childcare for his four-year-old, Tyler, he has to take his deaf son with him to the biggest fan event in Las Vegas.

Ellie Roscoe, deaf interpreter and fangirl, has reached her fandom limit. After this convention she is done with TV shows, its stars, and the fan scene in general! No more binge watching, no more fan fiction, no more gif sets, it’s time to move on. But after the convention… After she’s met her favourite stars one last time, and finally claims the elusive Marc Matthew’s signature to complete her poster.

When Tyler runs off, it’s Ellie that rescues him, but will Marc be prepared to listen to a fangirl?

E.V. Darcy is not my real name, but as I taught High School when I began my writing career, and those pesky kids have a way of finding things, I thought better safe than sorry!

I live in the north of England with my husband and rather large -- and very spoilt -- dog, Jabba, who we rescued in 2015.

In 2009 I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Imaginative Writing from Liverpool John Moores University. I then went on to teach high school maths - go figure!

When I'm not writing you can find me procrastinating by binge watching my favourite T.V. shows, playing computer games, or walking my much loved dog, who is my baby!

It was decent (3 star'ish) through most of the book, but when it reached that point where the author decided that some drama was needed, everything went south. It was spectacular bad the last 15-20%. I confess that I choose to speed read and skip pages while trying to get through it.

I "found" this book on Kindle Unlimited when I was looking for a specific genre - which actually had not much to do with this book - well but who cares if the book is good right?

After the first pages I thought I had the book pegged. ... A cute read similar to a fanfiction and as I went to conventions myself I enjoyed the humor or better said the SARCASM and the "behind the scene view" a lot.

Imagine my surprise at the twist and turn the story suddenly did - I read those chapters twice and was still left kind of confused with my jaw hanging open and that "what the *u*k has just happend" look in my eyes.

No worries about this having a cliffhanger - it is not one of those books but there is a story obvious running in the background involving secondary characters and that is kind of ... yeah well ... making me write "DEAR AUTHOR WHERE IS MY BOOK ON LUC" ... so you get it ...

A very different book with twists and a turn that will surprise you ... I never had a fanfiction turn into suspense so unexpected ...

I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I loved following both Ellie and Marc as they navigated through the few days the story takes place over. As Marc's back story unfolds throughout the book, I was both empathetic and yet frustrated at times....wanting to yell at him that not all fans are the same! While I also connected with Ellie, and what I imagine it would be like to attend any type of "Con"; meeting like minded people you share a passion for a hobby/interest/etc together with, and then also to "fangirl" about actors of a show that you adore. Nothing seemed too far fetched, as I imagine there are times/places/people that something like parts of this story could happen to. (or has happened to) I also wanted to slap her at times, for her quick judgement...but I think that was a bit of my own "pot/kettle" moments.

At times I worried that I wouldn't be able to follow all the characters, as there are many supporting characters that could launch their own stories. Some would be intriguing, with what any reader knows at this point, while others may become more interesting as the future stories unfold....eventually perhaps even getting their own stories (read cast mates of Marc and best friends of Ellie). I look forward to seeing where the series goes, and following this authors writing.

I will say that I don't remember seeing anything regarding the "steam" level of the story. I would say that this had a medium level, as nothing was too shocking but there are descriptive scenes that some may prefer to not read. While there really isn't a cliff hanger - there is a set up for what I believe the next book must be about, so I'm hopeful that there is a nice transition.

This story is about Ellie, an English fangirl of a TV show that's fairly clearly based on Supernatural, who goes to a convention with two friends. At the convention, for the first time ever, is Marcus, a lead actor from the show, who's contemptuous of his fans and also a huge jerk. He's there with his young son, Tyler, who is deaf; after Tyler and Ellie, who's a sign language interpreter, get stuck together in an elevator, sparks begin to fly.

This novel started out strong, but developed from a fun, light story about a fangirl meeting a hot actor at a con into an into a too-quickly-paced story where having lots of smokin' sex means you're in epic, overwhelming love. I mean, some authors have pulled off this sort of thing before, but it would take some *really* amazing writing to convince me someone can fall that deep over two days (or a considerably lighter approach), and it just didn't work for me here. While I really enjoyed the characterization of Ellie and Marco earlier on in the story, as the focus turned more and more onto sex scenes I felt that a lot of character-centric writing got left behind. The two MCs felt like, after the first half, they could have been swapped out with stock characters and it wouldn't have really made a difference. Also, this novel ends very abruptly after a bizarre, out of left field, action twist that was not even remotely foreshadowed. Instead of being an intriguing cliffhanger, it came off as a cheap, cynical 'hook' and completely killed off any remote interest I might have had in the sequels.

2.5 stars more than OK but not quite like

I found it a bit hard to get into this book. I couldn’t totally understand this whole fangirl world / geekiness I guess. I had to get used to it, and also to the writing style, which seemed a bit distant at first. Maybe the author needs to explain things a bit better. Example: one part started with the word ‘they’ without telling who that referred to. You had to read half a page before finding out who it referred to. At that point I’m confused and frankly, a bit irritated. But the story was interesting. What I liked best were the conversations Ellie had with 4-year-old deaf Tyler: he is definitely the star of the book! When she first meets him: that was nice. And when she first meets Marc, that was entertaining too. The conversations between Ellie and Marc are enjoyable. And I liked the attention to deaf interpreting. But the book never fully pulled me in. It ended up being somewhere between OK and like for me.

At the end there’s suddenly a bit of suspense and for me it came out of nowhere. And at the very end I was left hanging with questions.

For adults only.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and voluntarily posted an honest review.

This story had me emotionally invested. It was funny, complex and not a scenario I have read before...

I read the reviews on this book, so was expecting to be let down a bit. The unique premise caught my attention. I'm not sure what book they read, but I loved it. I could not put it down. Read it in one sitting. The whole fangirl premise was so unique, but hey if you lived during the 80's and followed the bands you got it.

The thing I loved was that I cared about the characters from the the get go and they made me laugh. I loved the, all, main characters and sidekicks. The author definitely delivers on the premise story line and wraps it up--that is no cliffhanger on this storyline. The cliffhanger or hook is a secondary character who you also care about and I will bet the next story belongs to him. I can't wait to read it.

I laugh, I cried, got embarrassed, had panic attacks and felt fear over events in the book and I mourned. It was absolutely freaking awesome. I was never disappointed emotionally or in the escape we seek reading romances. The heroine was gusty, sassy and likable and relatable. I have not been so drawn in, entertained by a contemporary romance in years, which I seldom read now as I have become older.

I tend to stick to urban and paranormal fantasy types. I love Nora Roberts though. Read her for years. I have to say though, I think I was more invested in this story than I have been in one of Nora's in along while. All I can say is E. V. Darcy hurry and release the next story. You got a new fan. I'll be sticking around waiting for my next fix. I loved the POV from the fangirl. I love the interaction with her friends. I loved the connection and things I learned about ASL and BSL. I did not know that either. I love it when I learn something true from a work of fiction.

So Good!

As a fangirl, I immediately fell into this book and literally didn't put it down until I was done. The characters are real, flaws and all, you feel for them and cheer them on. The reality of fans and those they admire all become real people. Entertaining, funny, sexy, heartwarming, exciting, everything you could want in a book. Off to find the next one! Though the main couple's story is complete, there is a cliffhanger leading to the next book and I can't wait to read it!!!

Well written enjoyable book. The author explores issues such as fandom and deafness, which makes the story more interesting. I wish it went a little deeper sometimes. For example, the star, Marc, despises fans and Ellie starts explaining to him why tv shows can take such a huge place in someone's life - so I wanted to know what Ellie's story with regards to Destination was. And I wanted to learn more about deaf culture.

It is also hard to believe that the main characters would fall in love and trust each other so much after only 2 days. The events (and characters!) are very intense and I feel a longer time frame would have allowed for more joy or light-heartedness. But all in all, this book is well above average and this author has great potential. I will keep an eye out for the sequel.

Unexpected story line

I loved the unusual story about a deaf interpreter . Meets tv star that she really doesn't like. Finds out he is single father of the cutest deaf boy. Sparks fly. Happy unusual ending. Cannot wait for next installment.

While had an HEA, ending was too abrupt. Too many unanswered questions with confusion regarding H's friend. Realize it was most likely to tie into next book in series, but had a wtf moment
